Frances T. (Matynak) Miklasiewicz

Wife of the late Harry S. passed away Friday, April 21, 2006. A Friday service is being scheduled.

Dorothy Jane Peterson Moore

Age 80, of Linwood,PA, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, in Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Upland, Pa.

She was born in Carlisle, PA, and has lived in Linwood for the past 30 years. Mrs. Moore was a sales clerk for several Retail Stores in the area and currently was employed by the K-Mart Corp. in Claymont, DE. She was a woman devoted to her home and family.

Wife of the late James Moore who died in 2002, she is survived by 2 sons, James (Marilyn) Moore of New Cumberland, PA, and Edward (Betty) Moore of New Castle, DE; 1 daughter, Patricia Walters (Eric Gould) of Wilmington, DE; 1 brother, Robert Peterson of Carlisle, PA; her grand-daughter, Lori Walters, who cared for her during her illness; 5 other grandchildren; and 6 Great-grandchildren.

Her memorial service will be 10 am, Wednesday, April 26, at the Atonement UM Church, 3519 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, where friends may call from 9-10 am.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1615 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382

Verna Greatorex Patterson

Verna Greatorex Patterson, age 91, of Westminster Village in Dover, DE, formerly of Coffee Run Condominiums in Hockessin, died on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Kent General Hospital, in Dover.

Born in Buffalo, NY, Mrs. Patterson was a talented and lifelong artist, who began painting murals in Buffalo churches and businesses while still in high school, later painting murals in public buildings under the Works Progress Administration. After she came to DE with her husband, she continued her art, studying with renowned painter, Edward Loper, and working in watercolors, oil, charcoal, miniature paintings, and even stained glass. Her creative works and restorations were seen in exhibits at Hagley Museum, where she volunteered for 20 years, and her pieces can still be found in private collections. Over the years, Mrs. Patterson served as a den mother with Cub Scout Pack #88, in the PTAs of Krebs Elementary School and Conrad High School. as an active member of Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church; as one of the original residents of Coffee Run Condominiums, and as a civilian air raid spotter during the 1950s, scanning the skies over Wilmington for approaching aircraft.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Curtis B. Patterson, in 2001. Mrs. Patterson is survived by 2 sons, Dr. Wayne C. Patterson, and his wife, Jane, of Parker, CO, and Gary B. Patterson, and his wife, Betsy, of Dover; 3 grandchildren, Gregory B. Patterson, and his wife, Sarah, of Dover, Christopher D. Patterson, and his wife, Kerri, of Dover, and E. Seton L. Patterson, of Arlington, VA; 6 great grandchildren, Katharyn, Emma, Reilly, Wyatt, Beckett and Laurel Patterson; 3 sisters, Irene Wood, of North Haldon, NJ, Dorothea Schanne of Hixson, TN, and Jeanette Moran, and her husband, Ray, of West Seneca, NY; niece, Patricia Schanne; and nephew, Alan Scherer.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 27, at 11 am, at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennans Church Rd., Wilmington, followed by interment in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Serenity Garden Fund at Westminster Village Assisted Living, 1167 McKee Rd., Dover, DE 19904.

Luther C. Peery

Age 89, resident of Palm City, FL, for 28 years, died at home in an accident on April 18.

He was born in Jackson, OH, on February 10, 1917, to Roy and Clara Peery. He grew up in Tazewell, VA with his brother, Robert and sisters, Lois Lowry and Carol Courtney. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, M.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1939. He began his 38-year career with E.I. DuPont de Nemours working in the new field of fluorine engineering, where he was co-designer of the plutonium pilot plant at Hanford in the Manhattan Project during WWII, and continued to advance the field in subsequent years at DuPont. He was an outdoors man who hiked and fished most of the national parks, and an avid seaman who owned his first boat in the 50s, which influenced his choice of residence in Palm City.

Mr. Peery is survived by his sister-in-law, Frances Peery; 4 nephews; and 3 nieces.

Burial and services are being held in Tazewell, VA, at 10 am on Thursday, April 27.

Edythe Murphy Taylor "Vicki"

Age 62, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, died Thursday, April 20, 2006.

Survivors include her husband of 17 years, John W. Taylor; children, Diana Lynn Lugenbeel, Fort Walton Beach, FL, David Mark Murphy, Bear, DE, Michele Renee Killen, Portsmouth, VA, Larry Murphy, Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Kenneth A. Taylor, Newark, DE; brother, Greg Vandevere, Elkton, MD; 21 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Bobby Murphy and Anthony W. Taylor; and brother, James A. Vandevere, Jr.

Funeral service will be 12 Noon, Thursday, April 27, 2006, at HICKS HOME FOR FUNERALS, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD. Visitation will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, Bear, DE.

The Rev. Robert H. Toulson

The Rev. Robert H. Toulson, age 85, of Wilmington, DE, died peacefully at his daughter and son-in-law's home on Thursday, April 20, 2006.

A native Delawarean, Bob was born January 25, 1921. He was the son of the late Mildred M. and Bert H. Toulson. Bob graduated from P.S. duPont High School in June 1939. After graduation, he served 7 years in the US Navy. Bob attended the Pharmacy School of Drake University, in Des Moines, IA, graduating in 1953. As a registered pharmacist, Bob owned and operated 3 pharmacies in Wilmington and Newport. Bob was called into the ministry and studied at the Episcopal Divinity School, in Philadelphia, PA, and was ordained to the Episcopal priesthood in September 1973. He served as a supply priest at many local Episcopal churches including St. James, in Millcreek, St. James, in Newport, St. Albans, in Claymont, St. Anne's, in Middletown, and Immanuel Church, in Riverside.

Bob was preceded in death by his son, Gregg, in 1965. He is survived by his son, Todd R. Toulson, and his wife, Karen, of Hockessin; his daughter, Jodi Warrington, of Newark; and his daughter, Debby Nuss, and her husband, John, of Newark; grandchildren, Andrew Webber, Sean Warrington, Matthew Webber, Mallorie Toulson and Greg Toulson; and a very special friend, J. Henry Webber, of Newark.

Bob's family would like to thank the staff of ManorCare Nursing Home, Christiana Hospital 5A, and Heartland Hospice, for the care and support they provided.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service in celebration of Bob's life, at 5 pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at St. James Episcopal Church, St. James Rd., Millcreek, immediately followed by a reception in the parish hall. Burial will be private.

Paul C. Baich

Age 46 of Lewes, DE, formerly of north Wilmington, passed away peacefully at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, following complications from cardiac surgery. During Paul's heroic 2 week battle he was surrounded by his loving wife, children, parents and sisters.

Paul was born on October 10, 1959. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and Widener University with a degree in business. In his youth, he was active in DeMolay and was elected Master Counselor. He was a member of Holly Oak United Methodist Church. Paul and his family moved to Lewes 11 years ago where he developed his passion for truly living. He owned and operated his own landscaping business prior to his illness. He embraced all people and made significant and everlasting relationships with so many. Paul did it all. He lived more in his 46 years than most people do in a lifetime.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Darlene (Rose) Baich; his son, Dane; his daughter, Noelle Baich, all of Lewes, DE; his parents, Paul and Ethel Baich of north Wilmington, DE; and his 2 sisters, Debra Baich Pietlock and her husband, Donald, of Hockessin, DE and Lewes, DE and Marianne Baich Foard and her husband, Christopher, and their daughter, Rachel of Magnolia, DE.

A Celebration of Paul's life will be held at Holly Oak United Methodist Church, 1511 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809, on Monday morning, May 1, at 11 am. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Aston, PA. Friends may call at the church on Monday morning from 9-11 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Paul's name to the American Heart Association, 1501 Casho Mill Road, Suite #1, Newark, DE 19711; or to Holly Oak United Methodist Church.

Grandson of Clarene Bovell and the late Hannah Campbell and Mathias Rothwell. Also survived by 1 aunt, Mary Fuller; a devoted companion, Julie Torres; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Justine T. Chudzik (Matwey)

Age 63 of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at her son's residence on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilmington, Justine was the daughter of the late Stephen and Victoria (Staniszewski) Matwey. For 22 years, she worked for the State of Delaware, Department of Labor as an administrative assistant. She was a member of St. John the Beloved Parish since 1963. An avid shopper and housekeeper, Justine enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and Delaware Park with her cousin, Barbara Fad. Her favorite memories were visiting Disney World with her children and grandchildren.

Her husband, Francis H. Chudzik, predeceased her in 1999. She is survived by her children, Francis S. Chudzik and his fiancée, Mary-Beth Ehart, of New Castle and Trina L. Leclerc and her husband, Mike, of Middletown; and the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Sean and Megan Chudzik and Kaylie Leclerc. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Dorothy Joswick, Mary-Beth's children, Paige, Matthew and Shannon Ehart; her longtime friend, Elizabeth McNeill; her cat, Missy; and a host of additional family and friends.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Sunday, April 30th, between 6-8 pm at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning, May 1, at 10 am at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington. Interment will follow in All Saints cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice, 5610 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808; or to Delaware Humane Society, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
