Hugh Christopher "Chris" Smith
Age 50, died suddenly on March 21, 2006.
Chris was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Hugh J. and Agnes R. Smith. He worked for Sun Transport for 20 years. He moved to FL in 1998. He enjoyed carpentry, skydiving, camping, and skiing. He will be dearly missed by his family.
He is survived by 2 sons, Justin Smith and Chase Smith of Deerfield Beach, FL; his ex-wife, Julie Esher Smith; a brother, H. David Smith of FL; 2 sisters, Meg Kinsler and Ann Benningfield, both of Wilmington, DE; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Hugh J., Jr. and H. Timothy Smith.
A service will be held on Saturday, April 29, at 11 am at St. John the Beloved Church, Milltown Rd., Wilmington.
Harold Thompson "Buck"
Died peacefully at home in Rehoboth Beach, DE on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 surrounded by his loving family.
Buck was born in Manasquan, NJ on October 18, 1922, son of Clinton F. and Ethel Roland Thompson. After graduation from Manasquan High School, he attended Franklin and Marshall Academy in Lancaster, PA, before entering the University of Delaware in 1941. There he played football for 2 seasons before entering the Army in 1942. He served in Europe in the 222nd Infantry Regiment of the 42nd Rainbow Division serving in WWII, landing on Normandy Beach on D-Day plus one. After the war, he remained active in the Army Reserve, where he was a member of the 446th Military Government Co., Upland, PA until he retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1982. Buck returned to the University of Delaware in the fall of 1946 and was a member of the varsity football team that was 31-0 in conference and the first Delaware team to play in a bowl game, The Cigar Bowl in Tampa, FL. He still holds 2 records at the University of Delaware from 1946, longest rushing play for 98 yards and longest kick-off return for 99 yards. In the fall of 1947 and 1948, he played professional football for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the newly formed All-American Football Conference, returning to the University of Delaware to graduate in 1950. He was a teacher, coach, and counselor at Upper Darby High School in Upper Darby, PA. In 1972, he moved to Lewes, DE and was employed as Financial Aid Director at the Delaware Tech, Southern Campus and then as career guidance and placement counselor for both the Lake Forest and Cape Henlopen School Districts from which he retired in 1986. In 1985, he was elected to the Board of Trustees at the University of Delaware where he served as the Chairman of the Trustee Committee on Physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation and as a member of the Agriculture and Societal Studies and Human Resources Committees. After he retired from the Board, he continued to serve as the Chairman of the Athletics Visiting Committee. He was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity, Jefferson Lodge No. #15 in Lewes, Shrine Club of Delaware, Kent and Sussex Scottish Rite Club, the Shield and Square Club, Reserve Officers Assoc., the Rehoboth Beach Yacht and Country Club, and All Saints' Episcopal Church. An avid sports enthusiast, Buck enjoyed fishing, golfing, and hunting with friends and family and following the Delaware Blue Hens. He was the first sports writer for "The Whale" newspaper and has been inducted to both the University of Delaware Sports Hall of Fame and the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Marshall Thompson; daughter, Shelly Sposato and husband, Fred, of Milton; daughter, Kathy Booth Reed and husband, John, of Georgetown; and brother, Leroy Thompson of Lewes. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Marshall Owings and wife, Christine, Casey Owings, William (Buck) Booth, Meg Booth Lawson and husband, Cliff, Allisa Booth, Mark Booth and Spencer Booth; and 3 stepgrandchildren, Alison Sposato, Jennifer Reed and John Reed, Jr.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 29, 6-8 pm at PARSELL FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORIUM, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. A funeral service will be held at the Atkins-Lodge Chapel on Sunday, April 30, 1 pm, with Rev. Max Wolf officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's cemetery-Pilottown Rd., Lewes.

Merton Ott Walton "Mert"
Age 96, of Dover, DE, formerly of Seaford, DE, died Monday, April 24, 2006 at Bay Health-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Born in Dover, DE, the son of the late Florence Donoho and Irving K. Walton, he was an electrician for 60 years. He worked out of the Local 1340 IBEW, Newport News VA. He was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church, Seaford, Camden Wyoming Lodge 203, Loyal Order of Moose and he enjoyed playing checkers and poker with his fellow residents at Green Meadows Assisted Living.
He is survived by 2 sons, Merton T. Walton of Dover, DE and Gary L. Walton of Loma Linda, CA; a daughter, Regina Fitzgerald of Ft. Myers Beach, FL; 13 grandchildren 20 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren; and his good friend Beatrice Foresman of Glen Burnie, MD. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Frances McKee Walton in 1992; 2 sons, Donoho Walton and George Pinder, and 2 daughters, Joan Lamb and Rubina Mary Show.
Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 pm at WATSON-YATES FUNERAL HOME, Front & King Streets, Seaford. DE. Service will be Monday morning, May 1, 2006 at 11 am in St Lukes Episcopal Church, Front Street, Seaford. The Reverend Jeanne W. Kirby will officiate. Burial will be at St. Lukes Church Yard.

Ronald L. Wright "Ronnie"
Age 33 of Seaford, DE, died on Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at home.
Mr. Wright was a Mason and worked for Wayne Zook. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy Fan. He was the son of Brenda Pastorfield and the late Elwood Wright.
Besides his mother, Brenda, and her fiancé, Ronald Norwood, Ronnie is also survived by his wife, Dawn; 2 sons, Troy Wright and Tyler Wright of Bridgeville, DE; a brother, Kirk Wright of Federalsburg, MD; 3 sisters, Nicole Gleason of Seaford, DE, Sharon Browning of Millsboro, DE and Barbara Flores of Georgetown, DE.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 29th, at 1 pm at the CRANSTON FUNERAL HOME, 300 N. Shipley St., Seaford, DE, where friends may call from 12 noon-1 pm. Burial will be in Bloomery cemetery, Federalsburg, MD.

Harry A. Winnerling
Harry A. Winnerling, died at age 87 on March 6, 2006 at Shipley Manor from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Harry was born February 21, 1919 in Lancaster, PA, the son of Harry A. and Jennie Kise Winnerling of that city. He attended Lancaster public schools, was an Eagle Scout, and graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in 1941 with a B.S. degree in Physics.
Upon graduation he was employed by the Hercules Powder Co., in Wilmington. At that time Hercules was the only company in the United States to produce solid propellant rockets for use by the U.S. Military during WWII. In that effort he worked for Hercules at Kenvil, NJ; Radford, VA; Allegany Ballistics Laboratory, Cumberland, MD; and Salt Lake City, UT. For several years after WWII he was employed by West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co. (Westvaco) in Covington, VA from 1968 until his retirement in 1983 he worked in the Hercules Engineering Department in Wilmington where he specialized in acoustical engineering. During the last 5 years of his employment he had the added duties of editing and publishing engineering standards for the company. He was editor and publisher of the Hercules Engineer's Bulletin that had company-wide circulation. He was a registered Professional Engineer in Delaware. After retirement Mr. Winnerling frequently traveled to Germany to develop his family's genealogy. Eventually he wrote and published 2 extensive books on the Winnerling family and one on the Kise family. In 1992, after 2 1/2 years of labor he finished translating from the German language an autobiography by his great grandfather, Salomon Heinrich Winnerling, who was an Evangelical minister in 19th century Germany.
Harry is a member of the Dickinson Theatre Organ Society. As a member of the organ crew he worked for 14 years on the restoration and maintenance of the society's theatre pipe organ installed in the John Dickinson Highs School in Wilmington. He liked boating on the Chesapeake Bay and was a member of the Wilmington Power Squadron; he was its commander in 1982-83. He was a watercolorist. He enjoyed making music-playing trumpet in high school and college bands-and singing. Throughout most of his adult life he sand in some choir or vocal group. He sand in the senior choir of the First Unitarian Church where he was a member.
He is survived by his wife, Natoma Rice Winnerling, formerly of Covington, VA; 2 daughters, Susan W. Yeow, this city and Nancy W. Derr, of Swainsboro, GA; a son, David A. Winnerling of Arden, DE; and 5 grandchildren, Michael Yeow, Paul Derr, Jennie Yeow, Matthew Yeow, and Samuel Derr.
A memorial gathering 2 pm, Saturday, March 25, 2006 at the First Unitarian Church, 730 Halsted Road, Sharpley, Wilmington, DE. All of Harry's friends are invited.

Lee Mossinger
Age 60 of Holly Oak passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3, 2006, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and daughters after a courageous 6 month battle with leukemia.
Lee was a lifetime member of HOG (Harley Owners Group), First State and South Jersey Chapters, Blue Knights International Motorcycle Club, DE #1, a Fire Police Officer with the Claymont Fire Company, 32nd Degree Master Mason with Eureka-DuPont Lodge #23-29 AF&AM, and an avid NASCAR and Rusty Wallace fan and a lifetime member of the NRA. Lee was warehouse manager of Harry Kenyon Company for 35 years. Lee enjoyed traveling the United States with his wife, Sharyl, on their motorcycle, making friends everywhere they stopped, and the annual family trip to Kauai, HI. Lee served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. Lee was proud of his Native American heritage.
Lee was loved and will be dearly missed by his junior high sweetheart and beloved wife of 20 years, Sharyl Mossinger; son, William Mossinger, his wife, Amy, and their son, Robert; son, Christopher Mossinger, his wife, Val, and their daughter, Julia; eldest son, Matthew; daughter, Norma-Jean Robinson and her son, John Mehew, III; daughter, Valerie Robinson; adopted daughter, Angela Bingham and her children, Craig and Kassidie; and Lee's mother, Martha L. Mossinger. Lee's father, Albert L. Mossinger, passed away in 2005. Lee will also be missed by his 2 dogs, Honey and Little Dog, who he loved as family members.
Family and all of Lee's friends are invited to his Life Celebration visitation with his family on Saturday, April 22nd, from 1-2 pm at Beeson Funeral Home of Wilmington, 412 Philadelphia Pike. A memorial service will be at 2 pm. A motorcycle procession will gather starting at 12 noon at Millcreek Fire Company, 3900 Kirkwood Hwy., Marshallton, and leave at 1 pm going to the funeral home. After the memorial service, Sharyl will lead a procession back to their home where a time of remembrance of Lee and fellowship will continue.

Albert Brewington, Sr.
Age 69, of Georgetown, DE, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at home. Viewing 2 pm and funeral 4 pm Monday, April 24, at the WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966.
Elsa Lowe Brindle
Elsa Lowe Brindle, age 92, of Lindamere, north Wilmington, DE, formerly of Harrisburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Forwood Manor.
Elsa graduated from the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing in 1934 as a registered nurse, and was the assistant executive secretary of the Pennsylvania Nurses' Association from 1940-1942. Mrs. Brindle was a longtime member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, in Bellefonte, DE. She was a member and past president of Mt. Pleasant Mothers Round Table and the Delaware Doll and Toy Collectors Club. Mrs. Brindle served as the regional director of the United Federation of Doll Collectors, where she was also the chair of several committees. She also served on the Maryland Synod Task Force on Aging, and the Senior Services Committee of Lutheran Community Service. Traveling with her husband throughout the country and overseas brought great enjoyment for Elsa.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Clyde W. Brindle, who passed away in 2002. Survivors include her sons, Kenneth C., of Cape Coral, FL, David J., of Lewisburg, TN, Donald R., of Rockford, IL, and Eric C., of Kemblesville, PA; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 pm on Monday evening, April 24, at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Duncan Rd. & Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE, where friends may call at the church beginning at 10:30 am. Burial will be at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 26, in Mechanicsburg cemetery in Mechanicsburg, PA.
