Virginia M. Reed

Virginia M. Reed passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2006, in her home in Boca Raton, FL. She would have celebrated her 88th birthday on May 29th.

She lived in Wilmington, DE until the early 1970s, when she and her husband retired to Marco Island, FL, where they resided until 2000. They lived in St. Andrews Estates in Boca Raton for 2 years, until her husband passed. She then lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Robert Merrill, for 3½ years, where she spent many enjoyable hours on the beach, in the sun and at Mae Volen Senior Center. Virginia's family was her greatest joy.

She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Virginia was predeceased by her husband, John Reed; and sister, Audrey Seale. Besides her daughter, she is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Sue Reed, of Wilmington, DE; and 5 grandchildren, Katie (John) Doolittle, of Guam, Johnny (Vanessa) Hanley, of Boynton Beach, FL, Greg (Maria) Reed, of Coral Gables, FL, Kristin (Joe) Ray, of Columbus, OH, Drs. Beth (Andy) Burchard, of Silver Springs, MD; and 7 great grandchildren, Sean and Ryan Doolittle, Jacqueline and Natalia Reed, and Reed, Thomas and Patrick Ray.

A memorial Mass celebrating her life will be held on Monday, April 24th, at 10:30 am, at the Landgren Chapel on the campus of Lynn University, 3601 N. Military Trail, Boca Raton, FL, with Rev. Marty Devereaux officiating.

Katherine Marie Trice Roberts

Katherine Marie Trice Roberts, age 50, of Bridgeville, DE, died on Thursday, April 20, 2006, at her residence.

Born in Easton, MD, daughter of the late Linwood Trice, Sr. and Sarah Moore Trice Archer, of Smyrna, DE, she was an expediter at Jimmy's Grille in Bridgeville, DE. Kathy was a graduate of Colonel Richardson High School, in Federalsburg, MD.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Sarah and Benjamin Archer, of Smyrna, DE; a son, Barry Wheatley, II, and his wife, Crystal, of Millsboro, DE; 2 daughters, Lisa Vasquezm of Laurel, DE, and Tiffany Mumford, and her boyfriend, Terrance Hooper, of Laurel DE; a brother, Keith Trice, and his wife, Laurie, of Seaford, DE; 4 sisters, Beverly Trice, of Seaford, DE, Sharon Barilla, and her husband, George, of Dover, DE, Linda Christopher, and her husband, Ronnie, of Federalsburg, MD, and Christine Trice, of Centerville, MD; a grandson, Devin Collins; and her companion, Robert R. Cannon, Jr., of Bridgeville, DE. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Linwood Trice, Jr.

The funeral service will be on Sunday. April 23, 2006, at 2 pm, at the WATSON-YATES FUNERAL HOME, Front & King Streets, Seaford, DE, where friends may call from 1-2 pm, prior to the service. The Reverend Roland E. Tice will officiate. Burial will be in Galestown cemetery, in Galestowm, MD.

Contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Robert C. Scharlach

Mr. Robert C. Scharlach, age 80, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 19, 2006.

Family and friends may call at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek, from 12-12:30 pm on Friday, April 28, where the funeral service will begin on Friday afternoon at 12:30. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Bear.

Charles L. Sewell

Mr. Charles L. Sewell, age 79, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Stratford, in New Castle, died on Friday, April 21, 2006, at his residence.

Born May 17, 1926 in Wilmington, Mr. Sewell was the son of the late Edward W. Sewell and Lillian Hobbs Sewell.

He proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. Mr. Sewell later enjoyed a 33-year career as an assemblyman at the General Motors plant, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima parish.

Mr. Sewell was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sara Frances "Franny" Sewell; 4 brothers; and a sister. He is survived by nieces; nephews; brothers-in-law; and sisters-in-law.

Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 am on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at the SPICER-MULLIKIN FUNERAL HOME, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720; or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 5610 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.

Emma Darlene Wambsganz

Emma Darlene Wambsganz, age 81, of Dagsboro, DE, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2006, at Green Valley Terrace in Millsboro.

Mrs. Wambsganz was born March 29, 1924 in WI.

She leaves no immediate survivors.

A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, March 23, in St. Georges cemetery, Rt. 26, Clarksville, with Rev. Michael Hurley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Georges Parsonage Fund, Rt. 2, Box F, Atlantic Ave., Clarksville, DE 19970.

Heather A. Burke Wolintos

Heather A. Burke Wolintos, age 25, of Newark, DE, passed away March 20, 2006 at her home.

She was an administrative assistant for Bernard Personnel.

Heather was a 1998 graduate of Christiana High School, where she played softball. She was a member of the Suburban Softball League from age 7-16, and a member of Holy Family Church. Her favorite hobbies were softball, bowling, fishing, and most recently, kick boxing.

Heather is survived by her husband, Justin M. Wolintos; her son, Jackson James Wolintos, at home; parents, Linda A. Burke, with whom she lived, and Austin "Bill" Burke, and his wife, Maxine of Bear; brother, Shaun M. Burke, of Charlotte, NC; maternal grandfather, Leon Zdanowicz, of Woodbury, NJ; godmother, Pat Thompson, of Deptford, NJ; mother and father-in-law, James and Diane "Dee" Wolintos, of Wilmington; sister-n-law, Amber L. Wolintos, of Wilmington; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends may call after 10 am on Friday, March 24, at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am. A graveside service will follow at 1:45 pm in New St. Mary cemetery in Bellmawr, NJ.

W. Wesley "Wes" Wright

Mr. W. Wesley "Wes" Wright, age 83, of Wilmington, DE, died on Sunday, March 19, 2006.

A Delaware native, Wes graduated from P.S. duPont High School and the Wharton Business School. He joined Wilmington Trust Company in 1954, became assistant vice president of the trust department, and retired after 30 years of service. He served in the US Navy during World War II in the European and South Pacific Theatres. Wes was a lifelong member of Grace Baptist Church, where he served as a church elder.

Wes was predeceased by his wife, Veronica Ann "Betty", whom he loved and cherished for 58 years of marriage. He is survived by his brother, Lewis E. Wright, of Smyrna; and will be sadly missed by nieces; nephews; their children; and wonderful friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 24, 2006, at the SPICER-MULLIKIN FUNERAL HOME, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call after 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.

Donald Ray "Don" Carney

Age 80, of Seaford, DE died on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at home.

Mr. Carney was in Poultry Processing Equipment Sales for over 30 years. He retired in 1991. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seaford, was a 50-year member of Johnstown Masonic Lodge #538, was a Navy Veteran of WW II serving at Iwo Jima where he witnessed the raising of the American Flag. Don enjoyed fellowship at the Seaford Christian Academy and supported all school activities. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He loved his dogs, especially Cody.

Don was born in Johnstown, PA, the son of the late Charles and Dora Carney and was also preceded in death by his sister, Clarice Daughenbaugh. Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Fay Carney; a son, Rick Carney and his wife, Denise of Jupiter, FL' 2 granddaughters, Melanie Hicks and her husband, Delano of Jupiter, FL and Sarah Wagner and her husband, Brian of Ty Ty, GA; a great-granddaughter, Hailey Hicks. A brother, Galen W. Carney of Johnstown, PA also survives him.

Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, March 7th at 1:30 pm at the First Baptist Church, 543 N. Bradford St, Seaford, DE, where friends may call from 12-1:30. Burial will be in Odd Fellows cemetery, Seaford.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Seaford Christian Academy, 110 Holly St, Seaford, DE 19973 or the Tunnell Cancer Center, 424 Savannah Rd, Lewes, DE 19958.
