Roberta W. Smith

Age 83, of Greenwood, DE died Sunday, March 5, 2006 in Bayhealth Center, Milford.

Mrs. Smith was born June 1, 1922 in New Castle, DE to Roland L. and Sally Elliott Willey. She was raised by Mr. and Mrs. Levine Tucker in Greenwood, DE.

She was a Greenwood High School graduate class of 1941, going on to graduate from Delaware Hospital in Wilmington as a Registered Nurse and becoming a dedicated and caring nurse at Milford Memorial Hospital for 39 years..

Mrs. Smith was active in her community. She was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church, where she served many years as head of the United Methodist Women. She was a charter member of Greenwood Ladies Auxiliary to the Greenwood Voluntary Fire Company.

She loved to cook, especially 302-349-4568baking. She liked going shopping, going out to eat, and she also liked to travel and do photo albums from her trips.

She was a loving wife and mother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Medford Smith; her only son, Jeffrey Smith; a sister, Gladys Willey and a brother, Allen Willey.

She is survived by a sister, Katherine Pecci of North East MD; a foster brother, Kenneth McIlvain,dgeville, DE and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Fleischauer Funeral Home, West Market Street, Greenwood DE on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at 2 pm, where Friends may call 2 hours prior. Interment will be in St. Johnstown cemetery, Greenwood, DE.

James Edward Snow, Sr. "Snowball"

Mr. James Edward "Snowball" Snow, Sr., age 79, of New Castle, DE, formerly of Wilmington, died on Friday, March 3, 2006, at Wilmington Hospital.

Mr. Snow was born in Craigsville, VA, on August 28, 1926 and proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. A professional window washer for many years, he retired from City Window Cleaning Company in Wilmington. In his leisure time, Mr. Snow greatly enjoyed fishing and, most especially, spending time with his beloved family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snow; daughter, Diana Stone; brother, Clarence Snow, and sister, Frances Snow. He will be sadly missed by his son, James E. Snow, Jr.; daughter, Mary E. Snow-Cox, and granddaughter-in-law and caregiver, Dawn Buchanan, all of New Castle; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at the SPICER-MULLIKIN FUNERAL HOME, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call after 10:30 am. Interment with military honors will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Lung Association, 1021 Gilpin Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19806.

James T. Wilson

Age 83, of Wilmington, DE, died Feb. 28, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital, Viewing 10 am and funeral 12 noon Wed., Mar. 8, at Coleman UM Church, 465½ Anderson Dr., Dunleith Estates, Wilmington. Arrangements by BELL FUNERAL HOME

James A. Worrell

Age 84 of Carneys Point, NJ, died Saturday, March 4, 2006 at the Southgate Health Care Center.

He was born in Port Marion, PA, son of the late Nathan and Catherine Worrell (Gaffney). Jime was formerly employed as an Operator at the E.I. DuPont Chambers Works in Deepwater, retiring after 41 years of service. he was a graduate of Pauslboro High School, member of Corpus Christi RC Church, DuPont Veterans Assoc., St. James High School Fathers Club, Knights of Clumbus 3rd & 4th Degree, and a USMC veterans WWII.

He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria. He is survived by 2 daughters, Kathleen Supernavage and husband, Ralph, Carneys Point, Gloria Worrell, New Castle, DE; sister, Sarah Salvatore, Paulsboro; grandchildren, Sherry Supernavage, West Hyattsville, MD, Jason Supernavage and wife, Whitney, Pennsville, and great grandchildren, Abagail and Jacob.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday evening 7-9 pm at the ADAMS FUNERAL HOME, 18 E. Maple Ave., Penns Grove and Wednesday morning 9-9:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be said 10 am Wednesday at the Corpus Christi RC Church, 369 Georgetown Rd., Carneys Point, NJ.

Ida Mae Holland

Age 91 went home to be with the Lord Oct. 21, 2005 at Kent General Hospital. Wife of the late Bernard J. Holland. Beloved sister of Ianus Gordy and her husband, Randall Gordy & the late Carrie Emma Mercer, Mary Della Smith, Lillian Gibbs, Rev. Hattie Carrington & Harvey Mercer. Also survived by many foster children, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family & friends. In her earlier years, Mrs. Holland was a homemaker and a tobacco farmer. She was first cousin to the late great Dodger's catcher, Roy Campanella. She had been a member of Old Fort UAME Church. Homegoing Service 7 pm Thurs., Oct. 27, at Old Fort UAME Church, 37 N. Old Baltimore Pike, Christiana. Viewing 5-7 pm only. She will be interred with her husband in Cheltenham (MD) Veterans cemetery on Friday morning. Arr. by CONGO FUNERAL HOME

Elizabeth Ann

Patten Armstrong

Elizabeth Ann Patten Armstrong, age 94, widow of Lewis D. Armstrong, died Saturday, April 22, 2006, at the Methodist Country House, where she lived since 1988.

Mrs. Armstrong was a native of Greenville, DE, and a first generation American, born on April 12, 1912 to Frederick Arthur and Elizabeth Oram Patten, who emigrated from Somerset, England in the early 1890s. A graduate of Wilmington High School in 1929, she attended Goldey Beacom College and the former Wilmington Bible Institute. She retired from the DuPont Company where she worked for 31 years in the Patent Library as a group leader. Since 1927, Mrs. Armstrong had been an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she served at various times as a teacher of the Dorcas Class, member and officer of the United Methodist Women, Sunday school superintendent, district secretary of the Wesleyan Service Guild, leader of the Rebecca Circle and a member of the board. She was a talented seamstress who enjoyed sewing for her family and friends and was known for the hand-smocked baby clothes that she made.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Ann Armstrong Dodd and husband, Robert, of Matthews, NC and Valerie Armstrong Yost and husband, Richard, of Southampton, NJ; 5 grandchildren, Justin Dodd of Matthews, NC, Karen Y. Cramer and husband, Ryan, of Decatur, GA. Aaron Dodd of Matthews, NC, Jeffrey Yost and wife, Elizabeth, of Wilmington, DE, and James Yost of Southampton, NJ; and 3 great granddaughters, Jenna, Julie, and Joanna Yost of Wilmington, DE.

A memorial service officiated by Rev. J. Christopher Pennington and Rev. Robert V. Dodd will be held on Friday, April 28, 2006, at the Methodist Country House Chapel at 2 pm. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Christ United Methodist Church, 6 N. Clifton Ave., Wilmington, DE 19805; or the Methodist Country House Benevolence Fund, 4830 Kennett Pike, Wilmington, DE 19807.

Nancy E. Cornett

Of Claymont, DE, age 53, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2006, at Wilmington Hospital.

Mrs. Cornett earned her degree in nursing. She was a member of the Atonement United Methodist Church, Claymont, DE.

In her leisure time, she was an avid reader. This kind and generous woman will be sadly missed.

Survived by her husband of 25 years, William F. Cornett; son, David P. Cornett; daughter, Catherine M. Cornett, both of Claymont, DE; daughter, Barbara A. Broome of Concord, PA; brother, Charles O. Hagstron, Jr.; grandchildren, Evan and Morgan Broome; many aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins; and her beloved dog, BJ.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2006, at 11 am at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE, where friends may visit with the family from 9:30-11 am. Burial will be in Lawn Croft cemetery, Linwood, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1501 Casho Mill Rd., Suite 1, Newark, DE 19711.
