Frances Pritchett Lippincott
Frances Pritchett Lippincott, of Wilmington, DE, died on Monday, March 20, 2006, at the Kentmere Nursing Care Center.
Mrs. Lippincott was a teacher and homemaker. She was a volunteer for 43 years and served on the board of trustees at Kentmere and was a member of the Junior League of Wilmington. Frances was well known for her Southern cooking and as a loving and faithful friend.
Her husband of 47 years, Samuel Woolston Lippincott, Jr., M.D., died in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Gladys Cogle, Ruth Streeter, Nell Gordon and Jean Williams; and her brother, William W. Pritchett, Jr. Mrs. Lippincott is survived by her daughter, Frances L. Van Leeuwen; a granddaughter, Franny V. Linus, and her husband, Scott; a grandson, Brett Van Leeuwen; a great granddaughter, Cailyn; and a sister, Margaret Ann Short.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Kentmere for their loving care and support.
Friends and relatives may call at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, from 6-8 pm on Thursday, March 23, 2006. The funeral service will be at 11 am on Friday, March 24, at Concord Presbyterian Church, 1800 Fairfax Blvd., Wilmington. Interment will be private.

William H. Mathew
William H. Mathew, age 91, of New Castle, DE, passed away March 20, 2006.
Mr. Mathew was a maintenance supervisor with the Abex Corporation in New Castle. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle and St. John's Masonic Lodge #2.
Mr. Mathew was preceded in death by his daughter, Merle Beardsley; his grandson, Brian Beardsley; and infant great grandson, Connor Mathew. He is survived by his wife, Mildred, of New Castle; daughter, Marilyn Lane, and her husband, Bill, of Milford, DE; grandson, Jason Mathew, and his wife, Laurie, of Newark; great grandchildren, Zachary and Haley; brother, Jack Mathew, and his wife, Nancy; and sister, Doris Chini, all of PA.
The family would like to thank all those at ManorCare who provided the care and comfort to Mr. Mathew over the past year.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 23, at 11 am, in the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. Dupont Hwy., Wilmington, where friends may call at 10 am.

Paul D. McGowan
Paul D. McGowan, age 40, of Hockessin, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 18, 2006.
Paul graduated from Dickinson High School in 1983 and Delaware Tech., with a degree in electrical engineering in 1991. He was presently employed with G.S.A. of Springfield, PA and part-time at Concord Pet of Hockessin. He was a volunteer fireman with the Mill Creek Fire Co. for 20 years and was a past ambulance lieutenant.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 3 years, Rebecca S. Mearns McGowan; his father and mother, Keith and Udel McGowan; and 2 sisters, Patricia Krysiak, and her husband, Michael, and Deborah Wein, and her husband, Greg. He is also survived by 5 nieces, Rachael, Stephanie and Rebeca Krysiak, and twins, Brittany and Samantha Doughty; and his 2 therapy dogs, Candy and Duke , who were the joy of his life.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Alexandria Phan of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX for her dedication, compassion and her ongoing encouragement.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at 10 am, at Aldersgate U.M. Church, 2313 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE, where friends may call after 9 am. A firemen's procession will follow from the church to Lower Brandywine cemetery in Centerville, DE. A reception will be held at the church following burial.

Eleanor L. McKee
Eleanor L. McKee of Claymont, DE, age 84 passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Wilmington Hospital.
Eleanor was born in Connellsville, PA to the late Henry C. Miller and Bessie (Morgan) Miller. Mrs. McKee was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her earlier years, she worked for the Krebs School in East Windsor, NJ in the dietary department. Mrs. McKee volunteered regularly with the AARP in Oak Ridge, TN. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing cards and swimming, especially with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Morris McKee, who passed away in 1971. Survivors include her devoted children, Eilene McKee, of Claymont, DE, Gary McKee, of Wilmington, DE, and Donna Valentino, of Oak Ridge, TN, with whom Eleanor had lived for 15 years; sisters, Pearl Feathers, of Connellsville, PA, and Ruth Battenfield, of Romeo, MI; grandchildren, Gary McKee, Jeff Valentino, Joseph Valen-tino, Tracy Lyons, Michael McKee and Steven McKee; and 8 great grandchildren.
The funeral service and interment will be held privately.

Emily B. Morris McKusick
Emily B. Morris McKusick died on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at her residence on Foulk Road in Wilmington, DE.
Emily was born May 18, 1919, in Minneapolis, MN, daughter of Carleton and Beatrice Brown. She grew up in Bryn Mawr, PA and in Montclair, NJ. She graduated from Smith College in 1940, and worked in a publishing firm in New York City before marrying Allston Jesse Morris, Jr. in 1941. Between 1942 and 1950, she gave birth to 5 children: David, Christopher, Michael, Elizabeth, and Jess. She and Dr. Morris eventually settled in Wilmington, DE, where she became a homemaker. They lived in the same house on Veale Road for more than 40 years. From her arrival in Wilmington in 1947, Emily was active in the First Unitarian Church, serving as a member of the board. She was past president of the auxiliary to the Medical Society of Delaware and the auxiliary to the Medical Society of New Castle County. She was active in the Democratic party and a tireless supporter of the local public schools. She instilled in her children a political idealism and love of education. She was an avid reader, whose favorite author was John Updike. She also enjoyed travel, music, gardening and crossword puzzles. Four years after the death of Allston Morris, Emily married
a longtime friend, Blaine "Mac" McKusick. The 2 enjoyed 5 years of marriage before Mac's death in 2005. Friends and family treasure and remember Emily for her love of life, for her passionate commitment to social justice, and for living out her belief in the dignity and worth of every person.
One of her abiding loves was for her children, her grandchildren (Ellen, Jason, Benjamin, Daniel, Lindsay, Joshua, and Brendan); her step granddaughter (Rose); and great granddaughter (Jules); as well as for people in need throughout the world.
A memorial service is planned at the First Unitarian Church, 730 Halstead Road, Sharpley, for Saturday, April 8, at 2 pm.

George A. McPhee
George A. McPhee, age 76, passed away March 20, 2006, after a 5-year battle with melanoma.
He was born March 19, 1930, in Dorchester, MA, son of the late George O. and Ellen C. (Stewart) McPhee. George graduated from Milton High School in Milton, MA, and the Bentley School of Accounting and Finance in Boston, MA. He came to Dover, DE with General Foods from Walter Baker Chocolate Co. in Dorchester, MA in 1963, having worked for 1 year in White Plains, NY on the Dover Task Force. He retired from General Foods in Dover as office services supervisor April l, 1986, after 33½ years of service. He served 6 years in the USMC.
His main hobby was his many Masonic affiliations. He was a member and Past Master of Union Lodge #7 AF&AM in Dover, a member of the Delaware Consistory in Wilmington, Past Potentate of Nur Shrine in Wilmington, past president of the Nur Patrol Unit, past president of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Shrine Patrols, and current treasurer and trustee for the Kent County Nur Shrine, He was a life member of the Shrine Club of Delaware and the Lower Delaware Shrine Club; a director of the Endowment, Wills and Gifts Committee for the Imperial Shrine of North America, and served on the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Shriners Hospital for Children. He was a past leader of the York Rite Bodies in Dover, Past Worthy Patron of Victory Chapter #15 OES in Dover, Past Worthy Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter of the Delaware OES, a life member and past commander of the Delaware Veterans of WWII Post #2 in Dover, a life member of American Legion Post #2 in Dover, a life member of the DAV in Camden, and a life member and past commandant of the Central Delaware Detachment of the Marine Corps League. He was a past commandant of the Department of Delaware Marine Corps League, a member of Pound #237 Military Order of Devil Dogs of the Marine Corps League; past director of Delaware Court #64 Royal Order of Jesters, a member the Delaware Preceptory DeMolay Legion of Honor, a member of the Modern Maturity Center in Dover, and a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Smyrna, DE. You can take the boy out of Massachusetts, but you cannot take Massachusetts out of the boy. George was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
He leaves to cherish his memory his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 54 years, Pauline (Rauscher) McPhee. He is also survived son, Stephen G., and his wife, Cheree, of Newark, DE, and their daughters, Megan and Stephanie; son, Douglas P., and his wife, Jen, of Woodbine, GA, and their children, Katie and Colleen and Britt; son, Jeffrey S., and his wife, Paula, of Hampton, VA, and their children, Casey and Ian; daughter, Sheryl Smith, and her husband, Mark, of Gloucester, MA, and their children, Kyle and Kara; and daughter, Susan Shelor, and her husband, David, of Magnolia, and the children, Matt and Diana. He is also survived by a sister, Sandra Fly, of Charlotte, NC. He will also be missed by his Tuesday and Friday morning coffee buddies at Spence's Bazaar; and his 4-year old boxer, Nellie.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 5-8 pm on Thursday, March 23, at the TRADER FUNERAL HOME 12 Lotus Street, Dover, where a Masonic and Eastern Star service will begin at 7:30 pm. A remembrance service will be held at 10 am on Friday, March 24, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 22 North Union Street, Smyrna. Burial will be in Christ Episcopal Churchyard in Dover.
