Ruth E. Callahan,
food industry worker
Ruth E. Callahan of Harrington died Friday, March 18, 2005, in her home, surrounded by her family. She was 63.
Mrs. Callahan was born July 30, 1941, in Coatesville, Pa., daughter of the late Franklin and Doris Minker Pratt.
She had worked in production for the food industry.
She is survived by her husband John Callahan; a daughter, Lisa Cox of Harrington; a son, Allen Callahan of Lewes; two brothers, Franklin E. Pratt Jr. and Ernest Pratt, both of Coatesville; six grandchildren, Chastidy Baranzano of Harrington, Michael Chilcote Jr. of McConnellsburg, Pa., Lindsey Chilcote of Dover, Nicole Callahan and Frank Callahan, both of Harrington and Beth Ann Callahan of Lancaster, Pa.; and a great-grandson, Connor Dean Bartlett of Dover.
Services and burial will be private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.

Aline Munson Sullivan,
school, library founder
Aline Munson Sullivan, 86, of Washington, D.C.; Rehoboth Beach; and Crystal River, Fla., died Feb. 19, 2005, at the Methodist Manor House in Seaford after a long illness associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
Mrs. Sullivan graduated from the National Cathedral School and Wellesley College. During World War II she served in the Red Cross as field director in New Guinea. Following the war, she returned to Washington, where she worked in social services at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and a number of senior centers. Following her retirement from social work, she was a docent at the National Cathedral, where she donated the gates behind the high altar in memory of her parents, Col. F. Granville Munson and Hilda Coulby Munson. She and her mother were members of the Companions of the Holy Cross, and she gave the organ at their Adlynrood, Mass., retreat house in memory of her mother.
Mrs. Sullivan was an active member of various Episcopal parishes, St. Alban’s, St. John’s and St. Mark’s in Washington; All Saints in Rehoboth Beach; St. Dunstan’s in McLean, Va.; St. Anne’s in Crystal River; and St. Luke’s in Seaford. She was a founding member of the Church of the Holy Cross in Dunn Loring, Va.
She is survived by her sister, Hilda Munson Walton and brother-in-law, Robert J. Walton III of Rehoboth Beach and Pompano Beach, Fla. Mr. Walton has been her legal adviser, trustee and devoted friend for many years. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews - Barbara Munson Goff of South River, N.J., Robert J. Walton IV of Rehoboth Beach, David G. Walton of Westbury, N.Y., Priscilla Walton Layton of Washington, Va., Lisa Walton Dunphy of Virginia Beach, Va., and Charles M. Walton of Fayetteville, Ark. Mrs. Sullivan was predeceased by her brother, Granville Munson Jr; and her husbands, George B. Parker, Edwin C. Smith, and Dr. Edward J.H. Sullivan. Following the death of Mr. Parker in 1960, she founded a school and library in his honor in Highgate, St. Mary’s, Jamaica, where they had owned a banana plantation.
A memorial service and Holy Eucharist was celebrated at All Saints’ Church in Rehoboth Beach March 12. Interment will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, at Arlington National cemetery.

Margaret C. Waltersdorf,
Tristate Electrical owner
Margaret C. (Stott) Waltersdorf, 75, of Hagerstown, Md. and Rehoboth Beach, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born May 7, 1929 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Robert A. and Nettie Schley (Canby) Stott. She was the wife of John M. Waltersdorf of Hagerstown, whom she married Sept. 15, 1951.She received her high school diploma from the Hannah More Academy in Reistertown, Md. she attended the Southern Seminary Junior College, Bona Vista, Va. and later obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a minor in education from Drury College in Springfield, Mo.
She was an owner and treasurer of Tristate Electrical Supply Co., Inc., which was established in 1927 by her father. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Hagerstown, the Episcopal Women of the Dioceses, the Turnover Shop, the Hagerstown Garden Club, Hagerstown Day Nursery and the American Association of University Women.
In addition to her husband, John M. Waltersdorf, she is survived by one son, John G. Waltersdorf of Hagerstown; three daughters, Elizabeth Grayson Oldfather of Philadelphia, Margaret O. Waltersdorf and Roberta Annan Waltersdorf, both of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren, James D. Waltersdorf, William D. Oldfather and Catherine G. Oldfather.
The funeral service is 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 101 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dr. D. Stuart Dunnan and the Rev. Fr. Scott P. Bellows will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery , Hagerstown. The family suggests contributions to Hagerstown Day Nursery through the Community Foundation of Washington County, Md., Inc., 120 W. Washington St., Suite 300, Hagerstown, Md. 21742; to St. James School, c/o Matching Grant Program, 17641 College Road St., James, Md. 21781; or to the Hagerstown Garden Club.

Jakie Jean Didiwick,
retired Amtrak employee
Jakie Jean Didiwick, 91, of Swann Keys in Selbyville, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Berlin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Maryland.
Mrs. Didiwick was born in DuBois, Pa., June 13, 1913, to William and Bess Newmeyer. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Claudius, in 1994, and her sisters Billie Riggs, who was her twin, and Betty Owens.
Mrs. Didiwick was retired from Amtrak, where she worked for more than 34 years.
Before moving to Swann Keys, whe and her husband lived in Hyattsville, Md.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Washington, D.C. chapter, and the Fenwick Island Women’s Club.
She is survived by her stepdaughter Clara Ruth Maxwell of Stockton, Calif.; nephews William Riggs and his wife Barbara of Rehoboth Beach, Russell Owens and his wife Janet of Troy, N.Y.; her niece Betsy Conroy and her husband Jim of Tuscon, Ariz.; and devoted friends John and Patricia Ryan of Millville, who helped care for her.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Melson Funeral Services and Crematory of Ocean View. An interment will be held at a later date at the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Millsboro.

Thomas Jefferson Casey,
Dagsboro resident
Thomas Jefferson Casey, 62, of Georgetown, passed from this Earth into the arms of his Lord on Monday, March 14, 2005, at his residence after a long illness.
He is survived by his long-time companion and wife Catherine Hannah Casey of Milford, his daughter Kelly and two sons Tucker and Matthew; several grandchildren and two brothers William and Charles.
Now in God’s care, all services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel in Lewes.

Robert Jule Brinker,
U.S. Navy veteran
Robert Jule Brinker Sr., 58, of Dagsboro, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at his residence. He was born July 8, 1946, in Peoria, Ill., to the late Herman Christian and Hazel Marie “Schoy” Brinker.
He served in the U.S. Navy for four years on the USS Bennington in Long Beach, Calif. He also received multiple sales awards for excellence while working for Manufactured Housing Concepts in Millsboro.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Lou “Hartl” Brinker of Dagsboro; one daughter, Nicole Danielle Brinker of Georgetown; three sons, Robert J. Brinker, Jr. and wife Diane of Frankford; Herman Christian Brinker of Dagsboro, and Dean Arnold Brinker of Dagsboro; four grandchildren; two sisters, Joanne Sellers and Diane Brinker, both of Illinois; and one brother Donald Brinker of Illinois.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 19, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel, at Route 26 and Route 17 in Clarksville.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Mariners Bethel cemetery in Ocean View.

Carla M. Jones,
bank employee
Carla M. Jones, 41, of Millsboro, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.
Mrs. Jones worked in the loan department at M&T Bank in Millsboro for the past 22 years.
Born in Milford, Mrs. Jones was the daughter of Norris A. Bryan of Seaford and the late Ina Wootten Bryan.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Georgetown. Mrs. Jones was a loving wife and mother and loved her family. She enjoyed bowling, stock-car races, go-kart racing, NASCAR races and camping.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband Arthur H. Jones Jr., her maternal grandmother Margaret Wootten of Millsboro, daughter Bethany M. Jones at home, two stepsons - Keith A. Jones and Darrell T. Jones, both of Gumboro, two brothers – Kevin Bryan of Milton and Darren Bryan of Millsboro, sister Deneen L. Bryan of Dover, stepmother Patsy E. Bryan, two stepgrandchildren Aubrie Jones and McKenna Jones, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, March 18, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour before the service. Interment will be in the Asbury Church cemetery near Georgetown, with the Rev. Lemuel S. Hudson officiating.

M. Margaret Elliott,
retired bookkeeper
M. Margaret “Peg” Elliott, 85, of Wilmington and Lewes, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005, at her home in Lewes.
Mrs. Elliott was a retired bookkeeper. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandson and pet poodle.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Earl R. Elliott; her daughters, Kathleen Karris and her husband, Jack, of Newark, and Karen Elliott and her companion, Marty Johnson, of Wilmington; her grandson, Robert Elliott of Montana; her brother, John Murphy, of Wilmington, and 18 nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held March 17, at St. Ann’s Church in Wilmington. Burial was in the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Bear.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 600 N. Dupont Hwy., Suite 107, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Mary Agnes Carnahan

Mary Agnes Carnahan, 82, of Wilmington, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital.
Mrs. Carnahan was a longtime resident of Liftwood Estates and currently resided in Shipley Manor. She was a published award-winning photographer and a longtime member of the Delaware Camera Club. Mrs. Carnahan was very devoted to her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Elliot Carnahan, in 1996; son, Norman James Carnahan, in 1997; and daughter, Nancy Jean Carnahan, in 1999. She is survived by two daughters, Louise Mary Mitchell and her husband, James Joseph Mitchell of Brookeville, Md., and Kay Lucille Carnahan and her husband, Thomas Daniel Nobile of Lewes; daughter-in-law, Irene Carnahan of Townsend; and two grandsons, Joseph Elliot Carnahan of Richmond, Va., and Matthew Scott Mitchell of Ft. Collins, Colo. She is also survived by her close family friend, Lynn S. Ford of Landenberg, Pa.
Services will be private.

Joseph Bernard Cuff,

Joseph Bernard Cuff, 30, of Newark, passed away peacefully at his residence Sunday, March 13, 2005.
Joe worked as a receiving clerk at Boscov’s in the Concord Mall for the last two years.
He is survived by his parents, Rose (Senn) Cuff of Newark, and Joseph Cuff of Aston, Pa.; his sister, Lori Copeland and her husband, Kevin, of Wilmington; and his paternal grandmother, Laura Cuff, of Lewes.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m., Friday, March 18, at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Road, Wilmington, where friends are invited to visitation after 6 pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the SPCA, P.O. Box 6067, Wilmington, DE 19804.

Frank Henry Briscoe Jr.,
retired from Army Corps of Engineers
Frank Henry Briscoe Jr., 95, of Georgetown, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 14, 2005.
Mr. Briscoe was born Sept. 18, 1909 in Port Deposit, Md., to the late Frank H. and Florence Edna Briscoe.
He retired in 1977 after 30 years of service with the Army Corps of Engineers at Chesapeake City, Md. Previously, he had farmed for several years. He was instrumental in starting Bible Presbyterian Church in Galena, Md., and Evangelical Presbyterian of Elkton, Md., as well as Eastgate Presbyterian Church in Long Neck, where he was a charter member, an elder emeritus and involved in other various activities. He loved the Lord, his family and the church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Ida Mae Briscoe; two babies, Virginia and Robert; and a sister, May B. Kane.
He is survived by his four children, Frank III and his wife Peggy Briscoe of Newark, Grace M. and her husband Bill Vattilano of Newark, Carol A. and her husband John Evans of Georgetown, with whom he lived, and Donald L. and his wife Jane Briscoe of Chesapeake City, Md.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, William A. Briscoe.
A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m., Friday, March 18, at Eastgate Presbyterian Church on Long Neck Road, Long Neck. Friends and family may call at 9 a.m., Friday, March 18, at the church. Burial will be in the church in Bethel cemetery in Chesapeake City, Md.
Contributions are suggested to Eastgate Presbyterian Church, Box 293X, Millsboro, DE 19966.

Elizabeth “Lunz” Gardella,

Elizabeth “Lunz” Gardella, 85, of Lewes, died Monday, March 14, 2005, in Casselberry, Fla. Mrs. Gardella took sick while visiting with her son and daughter-in-law in Florida.
Mrs. Gardella was born March 4, 1920, in Maspeth, N.Y. She and her late husband, Frank Joseph Gardella Sr., moved to Lewes from Ozone Park, N.Y., in June 1997. Mrs. Gardella was a member of St. Edmond’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son, Frank Gardella, and his wife Dorothy of Casselberry; her daughter, Dorothy Kneipp, and her husband William of Lewes; three grandchildren, Frank Gardella III of Florida, Kimberly Kneipp and Dawn Kneipp of Lewes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, March 18, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, Route 1 at Five Points in Lewes. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 18, at Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Millsboro.
Contributions are suggested to St. Jude The Apostle building fund, 152 Tulip Dr., Lewes, DE 19958.

Mack G. Hill, 79, of Rehoboth Beach, died March 15, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 19, at Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Millsboro, where the funeral will begin at noon. Interment will be at Zoar Golden Acres Memorial cemetery in Selbyville.
