Age 31 departed this life Oct. 21, 2005. Son of Carmen F. Wilson. Loving father of Jaiden & Jai-dah Wilson. Fiancé of Lynette Reid. Grandson of Velma Brooks & the late Richard & Frances Wilson. Stepfather of Jalil Johnson & Faison Tiller. Brother of Garland Hatcher. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins. Funeral 10 am Sat., Oct. 29, at CONGO FUNERAL HOME, 201 N. Gray Ave., where friends may view Fri. from 6-8 pm & Sat. from 9-10 am only. Interment in Silverbrook cemetery.

Adilla Harkness Armstrong

Age 94, of Seaford, DE, died on Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at the Methodist Manor House in Seaford.

Born in Wilmington, DE to Lillian C. Fredd and Wilmer E. Harkness, she was an executive secretary at Sun Oil Company in Philadelphia, PA, retiring in 1972 after 38 years service. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach, DE.

She is survived by a son, Richard W. Armstrong, of Bear, DE; 2 daughters, Janice L. Armstrong, of Newark, DE, and Victoria J. Boughton, of Macon, GA; a sister, Helen Gaber, of Marietta GA; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wesley Armstrong, in 1993.

A private graveside service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2006, at 11 am, in Head of Christiana cemetery in Newark, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 6th Floor, New York, NY 10001.

Charles R. Barker

Age 86, of Wilmington, DE, died January 31, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital.

Mr. Barker was born in Baltimore, MD and was a World War II veteran, having served as a regimental sergeant major (master sergeant) in the European Theatre. He was with the DuPont Company for 35 years, and retired in 1981 as a physical distribution analyst. He enjoyed golf, dancing, and working on cars, and was a member of the Post Cana organization for widowed people.

His devoted wife of 42 years, Helen Kuhn Barker, died in 1989. Charles is survived by his loving children, Margaret M. Barker and Robert C. Barker.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 4, at 2 pm, at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington. Relatives and friends may call from 1:30-2 pm. Interment will be in New Cathedral cemetery in Baltimore, MD on Monday, February 6th.

Denzel Kee Bey

Age 13, died Tuesday, January 24, 2006, in the A.I. duPont Hospital for Children. Son of Oba & Phyllis Bey, Denise Kee, & Robert Haile, Jr.. Stepson of Curtis Hayman & Patty Haile. Brother of Xaveria Williams, Robert Haile, III, Lakissha & Yuwsef Haile, Eugene Smallwood, Sahkeenah Jackson, Dawn Goldsborough, Oba Jackson, Travon, Shakeea & Shantell Wooten. Grandson of Sylvia Kee, Dorothy Wilson, Robert, Sr., Joyce Haile, & the late Dennis Wing and William Lucas.. Also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral 11 am, Sat., Feb. 4, 2006 at CONGO FUNERAL HOME, 2317 N. Market Street. Viewing 9-11 am. Interment private.

John S. Browne

Age 85, died Monday, January 30, 2006 at Christiana Hospital.

Mr. Browne worked for many years at Texaco in NJ, retiring as a supervisor. He served in the Army during WWII, and was a member of Holy Family Church.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Edna, in 1990. He is survived by 3 brothers, Robert, Joseph and Steve Browne; and 2 sisters, Regina Howard and Agnes James; sister-in-law, his loving caretaker, Loretta Logan; and over 35 nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 4, 2006, at Holy Angels RC Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, where friends may call after 9:30 am. Burial will be in All Saints cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 100 W. 10th St., Suite 209, Wilmington, DE 19801.

Phillis J. Cabrey

Age 86, of Atlantic City, NJ, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at the Mainland Manor Nursing Home in Pleasantville, NJ.

Mrs. Cabrey was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Cabrey, who died February 9, 1972. She is survived by her cousins, William J. Ryan, and his wife, Marilyn, of Wilmington, DE, Patricia Newton, of Wilmington, DE, and James F. Ryan, and his wife, Joyce, of Elsmere, DE.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 1900 Delaware Ave., Wilmington, DE on Saturday morning, February 4, 2006, at 10 am. There will be no viewing. Interment will be in All Saints cemetery.

Dennis J. BADGER

Dennis J. Badger Age 47 of New Castle, DE went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 17, 2004.

Dennis was devoted to his wife and family, and was especially fond of his many nieces and nephews. Dennis was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for almost 20 years, working recently at the Rodney Square branch. He was a 1975 graduate of St. Elizabeth's High School and he attended Brandywine College after graduation. He was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, loved to take pictures, and enjoyed the Three Stooges, even naming his dog "Stooge" after them. Dennis will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Dennis is survived by his wife Susan; his brother, Michael J. Badger; his sister, Susan P. Beckman and her husband, Larry; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Aldine and Mary Smith Badger; and his nephew, Samuel McKeown.

Visitation will be held in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd, Newark, DE 19702, from 6-9 pm on Thursday, October 21, 2004. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, 809 S. Broom St. Wilmington, DE 19805, on Friday, October 22, 2004, at 10 am, followed by burial in All Saints cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dennis' name may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Delaware, 669 S. Union St., Wilmington DE 19805; or to the Delaware Humane Society, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.

David William Beatie

Age 60 of Newark, DE passed away after a 17-month battle with ALS on Tuesday, September 20, 2005.

Mr. Beatie graduated from the University of Delaware in 1977 with a degree in civil engineering. He worked as chief of Project Engineering/Special Services for New Castle County. Mr. Beatie was a member of the Society of Professional Engineers. Mr. Beatie was a Delaware racquet ball champion in numerous age groups during the last 3 decades. He was a US Army veteran. Mr. Beatie was an avid sports supporter and served as a coach for little league baseball. He was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Newark.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sharen Beatie of Newark; his daughters, Donna George of Kissimmee, FL and Pamela Herr of Millsboro, DE; his son, Charles W. Beatie of Bear, DE; his father and stepmother, Robert Charles Beatie and Frances Beatie of Wilmington, DE; sisters, Jeanine McConnell of Ephrata, PA and Patricia Brown of Clermont, FL; and 6 grandchildren.

Friends may visit from 6-8 pm on Thursday, September 22, at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington. The funeral service will be held at 9:30 am on Friday, September 23, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 200 Marrows Rd., Newark, followed by burial in the Delaware Veterans cemetery in Bear.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, c/o The Dave Beatie Fund, 200 Marrows Rd., Newark, DE 19713.

Margaret Jeanette Coursey

Margaret Jeanette Coursey, born December 16, 1923 in Cokesberry, MD, departed this life January 31, 2006, after an extended illness.

She retired from Elkton Union Hospital after 33 years of service in the housekeeping department. Margaret was a woman of substance, who loved the Lord and her many children. A ready and willing faithful servant, she was a devoted member of Wright's African Methodist Episcopal Church. She held the position of deaconess, a faithful member of the Flower Circle Missionary Society, and a chef in the kitchen.

Margaret was preceded in death by her late husband, Clarence B. Coursey, Sr.; her sisters, Lillian Hodges, Jane Hammond and Harriet Jones; son, Henry L. Jones; daughter, Esta L. Carter; and a niece she raised, Susan E. Bevel. She leaves to mourn, Emily B. Jones, of DE, William L. Jones (Rochell), of Newport News, VA, Clifford L. Jones (Lucile), of Elkton, MD, Barbara A. Boddy (Calvin), of Conowingo, MD, Clarence B. Coursey, Jr. (Rose), of Baltimore, MD, George O. Coursey, Sr., of DE, Ella Coursey Burke (Clyde), of Elkton, MD, Kenneth L. Coursey, Sr. (Sheila), of Elkton, MD, and Kathleen L. Coursey, of Baltimore, MD. Margaret was called mommy and Aunt Mag by her children and a host of nieces and nephews. She leaves behind 30 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

A viewing will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 4, 2006, at Wright's AME Church, 125 Booth St., Elkton, MD, followed by the funeral service.

Virginia B. Cushing

Age 86, formerly of Oak Hill, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at the Brandywine Nursing Center.

Virginia was a homemaker. She was a member of Corpus Christi R.C. Church and enjoyed dancing, animals, playing cards and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Howard Cushing; her children, Glen Blood, and his girlfriend, Janet, Joyce Maloney, and her husband, Lester, Ronald Blood, Carol Sommers, and Wayne Cushing; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

A service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2006, at 1 pm at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Kirkwood Highway and Duncan Road, Wilmington, where friends may call after 12 noon. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
