Frances G. Dean
Age 79, passed away August 28, 2005.
Mrs. Dean was a registered nurse at the Wilmington Medical Center, retiring after 23 years of service.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail D. Payne and her husband, Robert H., of Middletown; 2 sons, Roger Bowman and his wife, Sharon, and Keith Bowman and his wife, Merri; 1 sister, Elizabeth Stewart of Wilmington; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at Calvary Presbyterian Church, Boxwood Rd. & Maryland Ave. Friends may call at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Kirkwood Hwy & Duncan Rd., on Wednesday from 9-10 am.

Amy Ingrid Fletcher
Retired Guidance Counselor
Mrs. Amy Ingrid Fletcher, age 76 of Newark, DE, died Monday, August 29, 2005, at Millcroft in Newark.
Born in New York City, NY February 15, 1929, Mrs. Fletch-er was the daughter of the late Swen Nelson and Amy Ericson Nelson. She was employed as a guidance counselor at Middletown High School for 15 years and more recently taught at Wilmington College. Mrs. Fletcher was a devout Catholic and a member of Holy Family parish.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Fletcher; and a daughter, Maureen Elizabeth Fletcher. She is survived by 3 children, Donna Claire Mellon and her husband Albert, Jr., of Earleville, MD, Douglas S. Fletcher and his wife, Mary Ann, of Coatesville, PA and Pamela Margaret Dougherty and her husband, Ken, of Fairfield, CT; sister, Eleanor Susskind, M.D. and her husband, Wallace J., of Phoenixville, PA; and 5 grandchildren, Brian, Matthew and Stephen Fletcher and Kevin and Maureen Dougherty.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am on Friday, September 2, 2005, at Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark. Interment will be private.

Anna Mae Gruwell
Age 72 of Middletown, DE past away Saturday, August 27, 2005, at her home.
Mrs. Gruwell was a housewife her entire life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. Christmastime was her favorite time of the year. Her house was always colorfully decorated at Christmas with the famous blue lights on everything! She loved doing word search puzzles. Mrs. Gruwell was a member of the Middletown Moose Lodge Women's Chapter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank "Tadpole" B. Gruwell of Middletown; a daughter, Carol Ann Gruwell of Middletown; a brother, Roy "Doc" V. Shahan of PA.; a sister, Edith M. Shahan of Middletown; her parents, Melvin and Gladys Shahan of Middletown; and a great pet, Alfie. She is survived by a daughter, Virginia "Ginny" and her husband, Allen R. Garlic, of Kenton; another daughter, Brenda and her husband, Vance L. Tipton, of Rising Sun, MD; a son, Melvin "Frankie" Gruwell of Middletown; 4 grandchildren, Vance "Jr" and his wife, Palicia Tipton, of Elkton, MD, Carroll "Joe" and his wife, Racheal Tipton, of Chesapeake City, MD, April Lynn Tipton of Rising Sun, MD, Nancy Kate Garlic of Kenton; 6 great grandchildren Courtney, Samantha and Emily Tipton, all of Elkton, MD, Jeffrey, Tatum, and Bailey Tipton, all of Chesapeake City, MD; a sister, Mildred and her husband, Joe Walls, of Earleville, MD; a brother, Samuel "Buddy" and his wife, Barbra "Bobby" Shahan, of Middletown; several nieces and nephews; 2 great caregivers, Roxanne Dorrell of Smyrna, and Virginia "Susie" Carter of Hartly; and a great pet, Cecil.
Friends may call from 7-9 pm on Wednesday evening, August 31st, at the DANIELS & HUTCHISON FUNERAL HOME, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 1st. Interment will be in Old Drawyers cemetery near Odessa, DE.

Age 88 of Felton, DE died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005 at the Plymouth House nursing home in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Visitation 12 noon and funeral 1 pm Friday, Sept. 2, at the BERRY SHORT FUNERAL HOME, Main St., Felton, DE 19943.
Shirley H. Larson
An angel departed this earth when Shirley H. Larson, age 49 of New Castle, DE, died suddenly in a motorcycle accident in Havre de Grace, MD August 28, 2005.
Shirley was born September 4, 1955, daughter of the late John Thomas Dobrowolski and Elfriede M. Schuberth Dobro-wolski. A dedicated DuPont employee for 25 years, she was currently working as a controller in the company's chemical transportation division.
She greatly enjoyed gardening in her leisure time. Shirley will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and a pillar of strength for her family. Always a free spirit, she was never happier or more free than the moment she passed.
Her memory will ever be cherished by those who were privileged to know her.
She is survived by her beloved son, Jamie J. Larson and his wife, Gysell, of New Castle; 2 brothers, Mike Dobrowolski and his wife, Carol, of New Castle and Gene Dobrowolski and his wife, Kelly, of Bear; sister, Connie Minton of Sugar Hill, GA; and her 3 grandchildren, Felisity, Gabriel and Erik Larson.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, September 2, 2005, at the SPICER-MULLIKIN FUNERAL HOME, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call after 12:30 pm.

Marie Elizabeth Lindell
Marie Lindell passed away at the Millcroft Heathcare Center in Newark, DE on Friday, August 26, 2005, where she had lived for the past 3 years following a series of strokes. She was 88 years old.
Born in MO, she had lived in DE most of her life. Marie retired from the University of Delaware, where she worked in the Morris Library. She enjoyed her family, Delaware football, playing cards and bingo. She was also an enthusiastic traveler, visiting most of the states and much of CN. She was a member of the Newark United Methodist Church.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Randolph Lindell, Jr.; and her sister, Nora Humphreys. She is survived by 4 sons, Randolph, Paul, Craig and Brian; sister's Grace Farmer and Doris Cataldi; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held in the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, at 2 pm on Thursday, September 1st. There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Newark United Methodist Church, 69 E. Main Street, Newark 19711, are suggested.

Thelma A. (Wright) Grzybowski Magana
Age 77 of New Castle, DE passed away Saturday, August 27, 2005, at home, with her family at her side.
Mrs. Magana was a retired machine operator for the former St. Joseph Paper Company.
She is survived by her sons,
Stanley Grzybowski Jr. and Harry Grzybowski, both of New Castle; daughters, Elaine Critelli of Newark and Kathleen Grzybowski of New Castle; a brother, Harry G. Wright Jr.; and sister, Joan Mangini, both of Lewes; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Magana will be held after 8:30 am on Thursday morning, September 1, at the JOHN F. YASIK FUNERAL HOME, 607 S. Harrison St., Wilmington. A mass will be offered Thursday morning at 10:30 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 12 Winder Rd., Garfield Park, New Castle. Burial will be in Cathedral cemetery.

Concetta A. Manganaro
Age 78, died peacefully after a long illness on August 29, 2005.
Mrs. Manganaro was employed by the State of Delaware, retiring from John Dickinson High School.
Mrs. Manganaro was predeceased by her daughter, Roseann, in 1995. She is survived by her husband, Ralph J. Manganaro Sr.; her son, Ralph J. Manganaro Jr. and his fiancée, Josie T. Chudzik; brothers, Carmine and Albert; and her granddaughter, Gabrielle.
Family and friends are invited to call on the family on Thursday, September 1, 2005, at 9 am in the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3710 Kirkwood Highway at Duncan Rd., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 515 Harmony St., Old New Castle. Entombment will be in Cathedral cemetery, Lancaster Ave.
