John B. Klingerman "Jack"

Age 56 of Quakertown, PA died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem.

He was the husband of Judith K. (Kelly) Kimmerle Klingerman. They were married 17 years last April. Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of Maurice Klingerman of Wilmington, DE and the late Jayne (Brooks) Klingerman. He was a food broker for J.P. Sales and Associates in Dresher, PA. He was a member of the Quakertown Moose and enjoyed golfing.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by 2 daughters, Brooke Klingerman of Newark, DE and Kristen wife of Jason Smith of Center Valley; a son, Matthew Kimmerle of Denver, CO; 2 sisters, Dale Klingerman of Newark, DE and Martha Kupchick of Claymont, DE; 2 granddaughters, Sierra and Brianna; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2005 at 2 pm in the C.R. STRUNK FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 821 W. Broad St., Quakertown. Call 1-2 pm in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association, 527 Plymouth Rd., Suite 403, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.

Catherine C. Yarusinski (Kokoszka)

Age 94 of Chester, PA died August 25, 2005 at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, PA.

She was a lifetime resident of Chester until 24 years ago, when she moved to live with her daughter, Michaeline Schad, of Claymont, DE. She was a homemaker, devoted to her family including her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Catherine was a lifetime member of St. Hedwig Church and the Fatima Sodality. She was an honorary member of St. Hedwig's Senior Citizens and a member of the Polish American Heritage Association of Delaware County.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Anna (Welc) Kokoszka; and her husband, Andrew Paul Jarusinski, who passed away in October 1974. Survivors include sons, Andrew Jarusinski of Wilmington, DE and Stanley Jarusinski of NC; daughters, Dorothy Bolton of Wallingford, PA, Joan Czyszczon of Chester, VA and Michaeline Schad of Claymont, DE; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held after 7 pm on Tuesday night, August 30, and after 8:30 am on Wednesday morning, August 31, at the KANIEFSKI KENDUS D'ANJOLELL MEMORIAL HOME, 3900 W. 9th St., Trainer, PA. A funeral mass will be offered at 10 am on Wednesday at St. Hedwig Church, 4th & Hayes Sts., Chester, PA. Burial will be in Immaculate Heart cemetery in Linwood, PA.

Donations may be made in Catherine's memory to the Polish American Heritage Association of Delaware County, PO Box 1164, Brookhaven, PA 19015.

Alvin M. Stiles, Sr.

Of New Castle, DE, age 79, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2005, in the Christiana Hospital.

He was the son of the late Rudolph and Bertha (Tozer) Stiles. Mr. Stiles had been employed as a union mason out of Local #1. He participated in the building of St. Peter the Apostle's School and gym. He was an accomplished Bricklayer, and was responsible for a lot of brick laying projects in New Castle. Mr. Stiles served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, on the USS Core as a secret weapons specialist in the North Atlantic. During his naval career he was also assigned to the secret weapons division.

Mr. Stiles was a devoted family man. His family meant more to him than anything else. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and the Knights of Columbus bowling league. Mr. Stiles was a lifelong member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in New Castle, where he held a long standing membership with the Knights Of Columbus.

Survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Charlotte C. (Lawler); their children, Deborah Stiles Phipps and her husband, Robert, of Newark, DE, Dolph Stiles and his wife, Diane, of Elkton, MD, Al M. Stiles, Jr. and his wife, Sherie, of Wilmington, DE, Catherine Stiles DeNest and her husband, Nick, of Bear, DE, James E. Stiles and his wife, Donna, of Berlin, MD, Michael Stiles and his wife, Jennifer, of Middletown, DE, Christine Stiles Button and her husband, Jeffrey, of Charlotte NC; sister, Bessie O'Leary of Wilmington, DE; grandchildren, Lisa Phipps Ueltzhoffer, Jessica Phipps Weller, Laurel, Russel and lan Currie, Hanna, Jaclyn, Bradley, Lauren and Kyle Button; and 2 great-grandchildren, Johnny and Emma.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, August 31st, at St. Peter The Apostle Church, 5th and Harmony Sts. New Castle, DE, at 11 am. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday evening, August 30th, from 7-9 pm. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus c/o St. Peter the Apostle Church, 521 Harmony St., New Castle, DE 19720.

GEBHART FUNERAL HOMES OF NEW CASTLE COUNTY

Thomas E. Short, Jr.

Age 58 of Georgetown, DE died Sunday, August 28, 2005, in Life Care at Lofland Park in Seaford.

Mr. Short was born in Georgetown to the late Thomas E. Short, Sr. and Mildred L. Bumm Short. He was a photographer and owner of Short's Shot's Photography in Georgetown. He was a member, lector and eucharistic minister at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Georgetown. Mr. Short was a volunteer counselor at Delaware Hospice and worked with the Festival of Trees. He was a volunteer photographer for the Miss Delaware pageant and named Volunteer of the Year in 2004. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Seaford and he was the photographer for the Indian River School District, Georgetown Little League and Lower Sussex for several years. Mr. Short was a past member of the Professional Photographers of Delaware.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Rebecca Norwood Short; and sons, Christopher J. Short and his fiancée, Brandy Harding, of Milton, Michael B. Short and his fiancée, Lindsay Albright, of Georgetown and Jeffrey T. Short and his girlfriend, Rachel Nicholson, also of Georgetown. Other survivors include his sister, Judy Widdowson of Georgetown; sister-in-law and her husband, Pat and Bill Strahle of Milford; 2 nieces, Lisa Adkins and her husband, Wayne, of Preston, MD and Carla Whaley and her husband, Dale, of Georgetown; and a nephew, Curt Semans and his wife, Wendy, of Federalsburg, MD.

Family and friends may call from 6-8 pm on Wednesday evening, August 31, at SHORT FUNERAL SERVICE, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Thursday, September 1, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 202 Edward St., Georgetown. Burial will be in Union cemetery in Georgetown.

Contributions in memory of Mr. Short may be made to Delaware Hospice, 600 S. Dupont Hwy., Georgetown, DE 19947.

Mavis E. Russell

Mrs. Mavis E. Russell, age 85 of Newark, DE, formerly of Salem, NJ, died on Saturday, August 27, 2005, at the Christiana Hospital in Newark.

Mrs. Russell was born in Westminster, MD on April 3, 1920, daughter of the late Woodruff T. Joslin and Reba Humphreys Joslin. A professional seamstress, she was a member of the Garment Workers Union of America and worked in Salem for many years until her retirement. With her husband, Vaughn, she spent her winters in TX for 8 years and in FL for 16 years. She was an active hospital volunteer in both Brownsville, TX and Hainesville, FL. In her leisure time, Mrs. Russell greatly enjoyed sewing, cooking and canning

Her husband, Vaughn Vager Russell, died in 2000. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Laureen Russell. She is survived by 3 children, Lois Russell Cleaver of Newark, Robert Vaughn Russell and his wife, Beverly, of Rockford, IL and Cynthia Lee Gaines of Smyrna; brother, Woodruff T. Joslin of Monroe, ME; sister, Flora Mae Markland of Moberly, MO; 3 grandchildren, Christopher T. Gaines, Kevin S. Russell and Danielle E. Gaines; and 4 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at the SPICER-MULLIKIN FUNERAL HOME, 121 West Park Place, Newark, where friends may call after 10 am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association, 100 W. 10th St., Ste. 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801; or to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.

Mildred Smith Roosa

Age 91 of Milford, DE died Sunday, August 28, 2005, at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood. Visitation 12 noon and funeral 2 pm Thursday, September 1, at the ROGERS FUNERAL HOME, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, DE 19963.

Lucille S. Parker

Mrs. Lucille S. Parker, age 82 of New Castle, DE, died suddenly on Saturday, August 27, 2005, at her home.

Mrs. Parker was born on Independence Day, July 4, 1923 in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Schneider. A U.S. Army veteran, she was stationed at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC during World War II. She was a talented homemaker throughout her life and also enjoyed a 45-year career as an Avon representative. Mrs. Parker was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and of Stahl Post #30, American Legion, both in New Castle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Parker; and a sister, Gertrude Stephen. She is survived by her son, Richard W. Parker and his wife, Dorothy, of Middletown; her son, Paul A. Parker, his wife, Donna, and his stepdaughter, Heather, of New Castle; her grandson, Richard G. Parker, his wife, Beth, and great-granddaughter, Meredith; and her sister, Helen Rybicki.

Friends may call from 10-11 am on Thursday, September 1, 2005, at the SPICER-MULLIKIN FUNERAL HOME, 1000 N. Dupont Parkway, New Castle. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. Dupont Pkwy., New Castle. Interment will be in All Saints cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 801 N. Dupont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720.

Linda Mae Moore

Age 47, died suddenly August 25, 2005 at the home of her sister, Karen Moore, with whom she lived in Newark, DE.

She was born September 24, 1957 in Wilmington, DE.

She was the daughter of Elizabeth Mannering Moore and the late Gilbert C. Moore. Recognized as a leader in the medical field for the last 20 years, she was employed as an electroneurodiagnostic technologist. She had been an active member of the ASET Foundation. An avid scuba diver, she was a certified instructor.

In addition to her mother and sister, she is survived by 3 brothers, John of Saipan and Gary and Donald, all of Newark; and 6 nieces; and 4 nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved dog, Hilde.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 31st, at the DANIELS & HUTCHISON FUNERAL HOME, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, DE, where friends may call at 10 am. Interment will be private.

A scholarship fund has been established through the ASET Foundation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Linda Moore, c/o ASET Foundation, 6501 E. Commerce Ave., Suite 120, Kansas City, MO 64120.

Bradford J. Alexander

Died peacefully at home, March 4, 2005, after a long illness.

Brad was a toll-sergeant at the DE State Turnpike for over 20 years.

He is survived by Genevieve, his loving wife of 20 years; 4 brothers; 1 sister; 3 step-children; grandchildren; great grandchildren and many friends.

A memorial service will be held as part of the 11 am worship service, Sunday, March 13th, at The Church of Eternal Life, 243 W. Olive St., Westville, NJ (over the DE Memorial Bridge, take Rt. 195 North to exit 23. Take Rt. 130 South about 3 miles to West Olive St. and go right for 3 blocks. Interment will be announced later.
