Ruth E. Michalowich

Ruth E. Michalowich passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 16, 2005, at home.

Ruth was a bindery operator at Star Color Press for 15 years and with Tri-Mark Publishing for 26 years, retiring in 1995. She also worked part-time at the University of Delaware in printing after her retirement. She was a member of St. Mark's Methodist Church in Stanton and she was active for 20 years in State Republican Committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Michalowich, who died in 1987; her son, Stephen; and a brother, Robert J. Hedrick. She is survived by her cousin who was like her sister, June Lee Wagner and her husband, John, of Quarryville, PA; and other cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at the Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Friday, April 22nd, at 10 am. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening, April 21st, from 6-8 pm and also after 9 am on Friday morning. Interment will be in Silverbrook cemetery, Wilmington. KRIENEN-GRIFFITH

Mary Dugan Pietsch

Mary Marie Cecelia Dugan Pietsch, age 96, of Westminster, MD formerly of New York and Delaware, died Thursday evening, March 17, 2005 at her home.

Born March 13, 1909 in Wilmington, DE, she was the daughter of the late James and Emma Dugan. She was the wife of the late Harry E. Pietsch, her husband of 53 years.

She is survived by daughter, Marie Imlay; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Ruthanne and Robert Lillis, and great grandsons, Ryan and Sean Lillis of Westminster; sisters, Gertrude Williams, Catherine Dolan and Anna Burris of Delaware and Jeanette Huber of Ireland and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, James, Francis and Joseph Dugan and sister, Vera Hushebeck.

Service and interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Home Care/Hospice, 95 Carroll Street, Westminster, MD 21157. Arrangements by PRITTS FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, MD

Leon Charles Saunders, Jr.

Age 66 of Newark, DE passed away suddenly on Monday, March 28th, 2005, at the Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.

Leon was born September 9th, 1938 in Middletown, DE to the late Edna and Leon C. Saunders, Sr. He was a graduate of Middletown High School and Delaware State College, Dover, DE. Leon was retired from General Motors, Boxwood Road Plant. He also taught at the former Delaware School District. He was an active member of Cole-man Memorial United Methodist Church for which he served on various committees. He was a member of the St. David Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn V. Fields-Saunders; and daughter, Dr. Crystal R. Saunders. Leon will be greatly missed by his sons, Andre and Leon C. Saunders III; daughter, Teresa Hayes; daughter-in-law, Karen T. Saunders; son-in-law, Norman Hayes; grandsons, Brandon Saunders, Deron Hayes and Trey Hayes; granddaughter; Alexis-Noel Saunders; sisters, Barbara Turner, Emma Harvey and Elizabeth Rodgers; and brothers, William, Clarence, Ernest and Lewis Saunders.

The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 2nd, at Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church, 465 1/2 Anderson Dr., Wilmington, DE. Friends may call the church on Saturday from 9-11 am. Masonic Ritual at 10:15 am. Interment will be in Bohemian Manor cemetery, Chesapeake City, MD. Ministry of Comfort entrusted to THE HOUSE OF WRIGHT MORTUARY

Jeremy Hare

Jeremy Charles Hare, age 32 of Wilmington, DE passed away Thursday, January 6, 2005.

Born in Wilmington June 29, 1972, Jeremy had attended Delcastle Technical High School and relocated to CA to complete his musical education.

After living and studying in CA for 10 years, Jeremy returned to DE.

He was a very talented and free-spirited musician, who performed in many local establishments and enjoyed a large following.

He was a very generous and kind-hearted person, who loved life and people.

He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was an avid dog lover.

Jeremy is survived by his mother, Janice M. (Pritchard) Hare; his brother, Daniel A. Reader and his wife, Jill; his grandmother, Catherine Pritchard; his aunts and uncles, Buddy and Kay Pritchard, Dori Delaney and James Pritchard; his cousins, Michelle Heck, Brian Pritchard, Kenny Delaney, Katie Delaney and Danielle Rankin; his beloved friend, Gerard Dougherty; and his best friend a business partner, Shannon "Ace" Haney.

He is also survived by his father, Gerald Hare; his half-brother, Joseph Hare; his half-sister, Aubree Hare; and many other extended family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Charles S. Pritchard, Sr.

A memorial service will be held at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington (opposite Cathedral cemetery), on Tuesday evening, January 11, at 7:30.

Family and friends may call from 6-7:30.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jeremy's memory to the Delaware Humane Association, 701 A St., Wilmington, DE 19801.

Naomi L. Collins

Age 90 of Wilmington, DE died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at home. Visitation 10-12 noon and funeral 12 noon Thursday, April 21, at THE HOUSE OF WRIGHT MORTUARY, 208 E. 35th St., Wilmington.

Cynthia J. Smith

Age 58 of Newark, DE, formerly of Wilkes Barre, PA and Linden, NJ, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2005, in the Christiana Hospital in Newark.

Mrs. Smith was born in Oak Harbor, WA. She was the daughter of the late Armand and the late Theadora "Dottie" Grace (Parinello) Roderick. She worked as an assembly line worker, formerly employed by, and retiring from the General Motors Company, Inc. in Linden, NJ as well as Newark.

She is survived by her loving son, James D. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Pamela R., of Colts Neck, NJ; her cherished granddaughter, Marissa A. Smith, also of Colts Neck, NJ; her brother, Armand Roderick of Rahway, NJ; a devoted niece, Irene Osti of Roanoke, VA; and her nephew, John Roderick also of Rahway, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, May 10, 2005, from 6-9 pm in the Adams-Perfect Funeral Homes, Inc., 1650 New Road, Northfield, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at 10 am at the Our Lady of Sorrows RC Church, Poplar and Wabash Avenues, Linwood, NJ. Interment will follow in the Holy Cross cemetery, Harding Highway, Mays Landing, NJ.

Erik J.G. Mitsch

Erik Mitsch of Wilmington, DE died suddenly on Saturday, June 11, 2005, at the Kennedy Health System in Cherry Hill, NJ. He was 26 years old.

Erik was the husband of Alicia Ann (Carr) Mitsch. The couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary this past April 24th.

Born in Abington, PA, he was the son of Joseph Mitsch of Maple Glen, PA and Susan (Atwood) Clegg of KS. Erik was a 1996 graduate of LaSalle College High School. He then attended the University of Delaware, where he met his wife. Erik graduate with a degree in philosophy. Erik was employed with the Auburn Moon Agency in Newark, DE as a business manager. He was a member of the Progressive Democrats of Delaware and the Democratic National Party.

In addition to his wife and parents, Erik is survived by a daughter, Olivia Margaret Mitsch; stepfather, Jack Clegg; and brother, Greg and his wife, Roseanna, of Ottsville, PA and their children, Cassie and James, who was Erik's godson. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Francis and Mary Mitsch of Maple Glen, PA; his mother-and father-in-law, Edna and John Carr; and sister-in-law, Victoria Carr.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at the SHELLY FUNERAL HOME, Easton & Kellers Church Rds., Plum-steadville, PA. The funeral service will be held privately.

A memorial trust fund for Erik's daughter, Olivia, will be established. Details will be available from the funeral home for anyone wishing to contribute.

Anna M. McGowan "Nan"

Age 84 of Hockessin, DE died Tuesday, July 26, 2005, in the Franciscan Care Center at Brackenville.

Mrs. McGowan was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church and volunteered at the church and in the community. She was a member of the New Century Club in Newark, and the Newark Senior Center. Mrs. McGowan was a great wife, mother, and homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James F. McGowan Sr.; her sons, James F. McGowan Jr. and his wife, Pamela, of North Wales, PA, Joseph C. McGowan and his wife Suzanne, of Dover, DE and Robert J. McGowan of Ocala, FL; her daughters, Maryann Yourinson and her husband, Jim, of Wilmington, DE, Margaret Sestak and her husband, Paul, of Newark, DE, Barbara Basheda and her husband, Randy, of Yardley, PA and Joan Piasio and her husband, Steve, of Summit, NJ; 23 grandchildren; and 1 great-granddaughter.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, on Saturday morning, July 30, 2005, at 11 am, where friends may call after 9:30 am. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE, on Monday morning, August 1, 2005, at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Franciscan Care Center at Brackenville, 100 Saint Claire Dr., Hockessin, DE 19707.
