Joseph L. Lewandowski, Jr Age 57, of Wilmington, DE, died peacefully Friday, October 8, 2004 in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD.

Mr. Lewandowski was preceded in death by his father, Joseph L. Lewandowski, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Jennie; his 4 children, Joey, Michael, Laurie, and Amy; his 5 grandchildren; his brother, Tom; and his fiancee, Lisa.

Service and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Little Sisters of The Poor, 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark, DE 19713-2997.

Alexander Onizuk

Age 90 of Newark, DE passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2004. Service at 1 pm on Tuesday, October 9, 2004, at the R.T. FOARD & JONES FUNERAL HOME, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711.

LeRoy Thayer Pease, Jr.

Age 80, of Wilmington, DE, died Saturday, October 9, 2004 at Forwood Manor.

Born in Summit, NJ, Mr. Pease graduated from Summit High School in 1942, the same year that he was the New Jersey State champion in the 100 and 200-yard dashes. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving 3 years in the Eleventh Armored Division, including duty overseas in England and Europe during World War II. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School, with a B.S. in Economics in 1949. Mr. Pease was senior vice president of finance for Sears, Roebuck Acceptance Corp., retiring in 1989 after 39 years of service.

He was a longtime member of the Financial Executives Institute, Philadelphia Chapter and the Rotary Club of Wilmington. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. He also donated his time to Meals on Wheels and the Emmanuel Dining Room.

His wife, Dorothy A. "Becky" Pease, died May 7, 2004. He is survived by his 4 children, Bonnie Pease Keeler, M.D. and her husband, Frank, of Keene, NY, LeRoy T. Pease, III and his wife, Beth, of Haddonfield, NJ, Timothy H. Pease and his wife, Kimberly, of Herndon, VA, and Thomas C. Pease and his wife, Donna, of Las Vegas, NV; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday at Noon at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Liftwood, Wilmington. Burial will be private. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington, DE 19803 or to Rotary Club of Wilmington, 1007 Orange Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.

Ruth A. Side

Ruth Ann Sturgill Side, 40, of Elkton, MD, died Saturday, October 9, 2004. Funeral service 8:30 pm, Wednesday, October 13, HICKS HOME FOR FUNERALS, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton. Visitation 7 pm.

Lillian E. (Costin) Syva

Lillian E. (Costin) Syva, age 81 of New Castle, DE died Friday, October 8, 2004, at Hillside Center in Wilmington, DE.

Mrs. Syva was born in Wilmington, DE and had been a homemaker.

She enjoyed bingo, cooking and especially reading.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Steven Syva, Sr.; sons, Steven Syva, Jr. of Wilmington, John R. Syva and his wife, Beverly, of Newark; daughter, Lillian G. Hicks and her husband, C. Arnold, of Middletown; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Howard A. Syva.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, October 13th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. Dupont Pkwy., New Castle, where family and friends may call from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, October 12th.

Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Pkwy., New Castle.

Ethel M. Thompson

Ethel May Thompson, formerly Ethel May Hague, age 94, resident of Foulk Manor South, died Friday, October 8, 2004.

Born to the late, William A. and Bessie Hague of Talleyville. Ethel worked at the Shortline Bus Company in Wilmington where she met her husband, Albert "Buzz" Thompson. After living in Louisiana while her husband served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, Ethel and Buzz returned to the Hague family property in Talleyville where they made their home and where Ethel owned and operated Ethel's Beauty Shop. Ethel enjoyed the close family life she shared with her sisters and brothers, was an avid Horse woman, gardener and painter.

Preceded in death by her husband in 1977, Ethel remained in the home they had built until 2002. Ethel was preceded in death by her 5 sisters, Marie, Bessie, and Francis Hague, Mildred Lacklen and Marjorie Seal; and 2 of her brothers, William A. Hague, Jr., and John R. Hague. She is survived by 2 brothers, Arthur W. Hague, of Wilmington and Lewis H. Hague, of Woodstock, IL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held from 10-11 am, Wednesday, October 13 at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyville (Route 202, south of Silverside Rd.), followed by the funeral service at 11 am. Interment will be in Grace Episcopal Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Talleyville Volunteer Fire Co., P.O. Box 7025, Wilmington, DE 19803.

Pauline R. Thompson

Age 83 of Lewes, DE, died Thursday, October 7, 2004.

Born in Elk Mills, MD, on August 9, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Hilda Kay Reed. Mrs. Thompson was raised in Newark, DE, and was a graduate of Newark High School. She was a graduate of Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Wilmington, DE, where she graduated with honors and worked in the emergency room, pediatrics, and as head operating room nurse. She also was a private duty nurse for the DuPont families and Frank W. Diver and his family. She nursed soldiers that came home from war and was referred to by them as their angel of mercy.

She raised her children in Wilmington and retired in 1975 to Lewes. She was an active member of Baldwin United Methodist Church, Elk Mills, MD, Cedar Crest United Methodist, Wilmington, and The United Methodist Church, Ocean City, MD, where she spent summers at her beach house on First and Philadelphia streets.

Survivors include her children, Kay M. Thompson, Clayton, DE; William O. Thompson, Jr., Wilmington, DE, Anne P. Kabino, Middletown, DE, Lynn Ellen Bliler, Dover, DE, Hope Thompson Mitchell, Lewes, DE, and Thomas Nelson Thompson, Rehoboth Beach, DE; 15 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her firstborn son, William Howard Thompson; granddaughter, Ginger L. Bliler; and William O. Thompson, Sr.

A private funeral service was held Sunday, October 10, 2004 at Cherry Hill United Methodist Church, Cherry Hill, MD, with Rev. Hubert F. Jicha, III, officiating. Interment was in Cherry Hill Methodist cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cherry Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund, in care of HICKS HOME FOR FUNERALS, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921.

Eric C. BOLEN

Eric C. Bolen Age 35 of Wilmington, DE passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 27, 2004.

Eric worked at Main Light Industries for the past 12 years as a lighting technician.

He enjoyed playing music and was a bassist of the bands Freak Show, Four Souls on Fire, Mutha Load and most recently, The Collingwood.

He was a motorcycle enthusiast and was very artistic.

He is survived by his parents, Linda and Jerry Bulat of Wilmington, DE, and Bill and Carrie Bolen of Newark, DE; his brothers and sisters, Tressa and J.R. Bulat, both of Wilmington, DE, and Billy and Brice Bolen, both of Newark, DE; his grandparents, Stanley A. and Mary E. Bulat of Wilmington, DE and Elma R. Bolen of New Castle, DE; his aunts, Debra Radfar of Houston, TX, Janet Jones of Port Charlotte, FL, Patricia Merritt of Wilmington, DE and Ruth Cox of New Castle, DE; and his cats, Gizmo, Oscar and Baby.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Helen M. Bonsall.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Sunday, October 31, at 1 pm at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek, where friends may call after 11 am.

Burial will be on Monday, November 1, at 10 am in Gracelawn Memorial Park in New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd., Suite 100 Clayton Bldg., Wilmington, DE 19810.

Fred TULISH

Fred Tulish Jr Age 77, of Oceanview, DE, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Paoli Memorial Hospital in Paoli, PA.

He was the husband of Marian Speicher Tulish, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Born in Oaks, PA, Fred was the son of the late Fred and Myrtle Litka Tulish.

Before graduating from Phoenixville High School in 1947, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

A Seaman First Class, Fred was stationed aboard the NTS Sampson, NB Navy 3002, USS Gleaves and the USS Healy.

He earned the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal. Fred was employed as a Maintenance Engineer with Sears for 35 years before retiring in 1987.

In prior years, he was employed by Stroehman Bakery, Ehert Magnesium and Taylor Fiber.

He was a member of the American Legion in Delaware.

His hobbies included fishing and boating, especially his own boat, "Dragon", crafting and being an all-around handyman.

In addition to his wife, Marian, Fred is survived by three daughters, Freda Scatchard and her husband, Brian, of Norristown, PA; Beverly Dymek and her husband, David, of Downingtown, PA; and Cheryl Rittenhouse and her husband, Gary of Eagleville, PA; a brother, Ken Tulish of Phoenixville, PA; two sisters, Patsy Cooper of Pottstown, PA and Virginia Sanderson of Fort Huron, Michigan; four grandchildren, Kimberly Scatchard, Jessica Dymek and Steven and Scott Rittenhouse.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 4, 2004 at the JAMES J. TERRY FUNERAL HOME, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, November 3 from 7PM to 9PM at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville, PA.

Contributions, in Fred's memory, may be made to American Lung Association, 525 Plymouth Road Suite 403, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
