Born in MN in 1903, died February 15, 2005 at Arbor Village, Wildwood, FL, at age 101.

She was a longtime resident of Newark, DE, where she was an active member of the Newark United Methodist Church, Mrs. Wilson's bible class, and the Century Club. A dedicated teacher, she retired from Holly, MI in 1968.

Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law, Carol & Ed Hanbey; grandson, Michael Do-herty; granddaughter, Sue Mu-solf; and 4 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 2 pm Friday, May 6, at Newark United Methodist Church Chapel, Main St., Newark, DE.

John Edward Barnett "Eddie"

Age 43 of Selbyville, DE died March 3, 2005, at home. Graveside service 1:30 pm Sun., March 6, in Roxana (DE) cemetery. Arrangements by HASTINGS FUNERAL HOME

Barry Melda

Age 66 of New Castle, DE, passed away Thursday March 3, 2005.

The funeral service will be held at the New Castle United Methodist Church, 510 Delaware St., Old New Castle, on Tuesday afternoon, March 8, at 12:15 pm. Interment will follow in Glebe cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning from 11-12 noon.

Clair I. Beyer

Clair I. Beyer, age 86 of West Grove, PA died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at the Jennersville Regional Hospital. He was the husband of the late Alice H. Henry Beyer, with whom he shared 18 years of marriage, and Florence Elizabeth Beyer, with whom he shared 26 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Roland and Edith Morton Beyer. Clair was a 1936 graduate of Avon Grove High School. After graduating, he worked in construction with his father. He was the first person drafted in Chester County and served in Europe as a staff sergeant in World War II. For most of his career, he was an insurance agent in West Grove and West Chester. Before retiring, he was the prothonotary, tax lien officer and chief of the Domestic Relations office in Chester County. Other associations and titles included past president of the West Grove Boro Council and Fire Company, a charter member of the Avon Grove Lions Club, past treasure of West Grove Presbyterian Church, Republican area chairman, a member of the local Masons and the West Grove Recreation Association. He also enjoyed gardening, the company of a good dog, a good joke, tinkering around the house and traveling, including a trip to Africa and Alaska. Most of all, he loved his family.

Clair is survived by 3 daughters, Virginia Beyer Ives of Wilmington, DE, Alisanne Louise Beyer of Denver, CO and Edithanne Beyer Willhide and her husband, Wayne, of Shippensburg; 1 brother, E. Robert Beyer of Lampeter; 2 stepchildren, Cynthia B. Harrell and her husband, Woody, of Corinth, MS and Robert Buzzard and his wife, Candace, of Kenya, Africa; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eugenia H. Beyer.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at the FOULK & GRIECO FUNERAL HOME, 200 Rose Hill Rd., West Grove, PA 19390, where friends and family may call from 9-11 am before the service. Interment will be in New London Presbyterian cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720; or to the American Heart Association, 625 W. Ridge Pi,e Bldg.1, Suite 100, Conshohocken, PA 19428-1190.

Dorothea B. Mars Clark

Age 83 of Bear, DE died Friday, March 4, 2005, at her home.

Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Herbert I. and Nellie Barrett Mars, Mrs. Clark graduated from Overbrook High School, class of 1938. She lived in the Woodlyn section of Ridley Township, PA before moving to DE 4 years ago. She was a member of the Leiper Presbyterian Church, served as secretary/treasurer of the Gremlins, was a member of the Overbrook High School sorority and was a former Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader.

Wife of the late George O. Clark, Jr., who died in 1986, Mrs. Clark is survived by her daughter, Ellen L. and her husband, Anthony Passerini; sons, George O. Clark, III and his wife, Nancy, Thomas A. Clark and his wife, Bernadette, and James R. Clark and his wife, Cheryl; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Sunday, March 6 and 9-10 am Monday, March 7, at the WHITE-LUTTRELL FUNERAL HOME, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, PA, where the funeral service will begin at 10 am. Burial will be in Fernwood cemetery in Yeadon, PA.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 225 City Ave., Suite 104, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004; to Compassionate Care Hospice, 5610 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19808; or to a charity of your choice.

Leilani Ester Cochran

Leilani, 12 hours old, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2005, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE, where she was born. Although she was only on this earth a very short while, she touched everyone's life and she was deeply loved.

Survivors include her parents, Timothy and Christine Ann Zinszer Cochran of Millsboro; her maternal grandparents, Ester and Robert Zinszer of Laurel; paternal grandparents, Kimberly and Tim Cochran, Sr., both of Wilmington; maternal great grandparents, Mary Ann and Robert Zinszer, Sr. of Gumboro; and great grandfather, Matthew Magadeto of the Philippines. She is also survived by paternal great grandparents, Lorettel and Robert Kirby of Newark; and great grandmother, Faye Hatfield of Wilmington.

There will be a graveside service at 1 pm on Monday, March 7, 2005, in Woodlawn Memorial Park, US Rt.13, north of Millsboro. Pastor O. Kenneth Scheller will officiate. Arrangements by the WATSON FUNERAL HOME Millsboro, DE

Delbert Dare

Delbert Dare, known to his friends and family as "Del", age 82 of Forwood Manor passed away March 2, 2005, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Dare graduated from Wilkes University with a BS in commerce and finance in 1948. He retired from the information systems department of the DuPont Company in 1980, where he started out 27 years prior as a computer programmer. An Army veteran of WWII, Del served 3 years with the Combat Engineers in both the 99th and 2nd infantry divisions. Wounds suffered in the Battle of the Bulge in the European Theatre required a 3-month period of hospitalization in England. For this action, Del was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge and Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Dare was a member of Granite-Corinthian Lodge #34 AF&AM, where he received the 55-year pin.

His wife of 61 years, Eleanore Dare, passed away in 2004. He leaves to cherish his memory 2 daughters and their spouses, Donna Logan and her husband, Hal, of Chadds Ford, PA and Gail Jones and her husband, Richard, of Kennett Square, PA; a sister, Melva Rowan and her husband, Joe, of Buffalo, NY; 2 grandchildren, Ted Barham and Kristie Barham, both of Seattle, WA; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at 10 am at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyville, where friends are invited to call after 9:00 am. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810.

Ruby Elizabeth Davenport

Age 79 of Frankford, DE died Friday, March 4, 2005, at the Seaford Center Nursing Home.

She was the daughter of the late Willie and Ollie St. John. Ruby was a homemaker and loved cooking and baking for people. She was a charter member of the Frankford Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roscoe L. Davenport; son, Russell and his wife, Patty, of Frankford; brother, Clyde St. John of Lynchburg, VA; and sister, Nanny Thompson of Crew, VA.

The funeral service will be Monday, March 7th, at 12 noon in the chapel of MELSON FUNERAL SERVICES on Thatcher St. in Frankford, where friends may call on Sunday evening, March 6th, from 6-8 pm. Interment will be in Dagsboro Redmens Memorial cemetery.

John Russell Dickerson "Jack"

Age 58 of Milford, DE, formerly of Harrington, died Feb. 25, 2005, in Milford. Visitation 12 noon and funeral 1 pm Thurs., Mar. 10, at MCKNATT F.H., 50 Commerce St., Harrington.

Fred L. Duncan

Age 79 of Magnolia, DE died Thursday , March 3, 2005, at Kent General Hospital. Visitation 12-2 and service 2 pm Sunday, March 6, at the PIPPIN FUNERAL HOME, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Betty R. Fitzwater

Age 75 of Newark, DE passed away on March 3, 2005 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born in Junior, WV, daughter of Gordon and Cloie McDonald, where she lived until she met her husband Robert. They made DE their home for the past 54 years, where they shared a wonderful marriage and family. Betty was employed by ShopRite in Stanton as a cashier and produce clerk for 25 years, and was a member of the United Methodist Women's Christian Group.

Betty will be sadly missed by her husband of 54 years, Robert; her family, Robert R. Fitzwater, Jr. and his wife, Mary Kay, of Newark, Iona Muscella and her husband, Robert, of West Chester, PA, Helen Lee and her husband, Jake, of Milford and Patty McCutchan and her husband, Neil, of Bear, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; and 8 sisters. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers.

Family and friends are invited to Betty's Life Celebration on Tuesday, March 8, at Beeson Memorial Services of Newark, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Fox Run, (302-453-1900), from 10-12 noon. Her funeral service will be at the funeral home at 12 noon, with interment in the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Bear.

Charitas E. Grieshaber

Age 74 passed away peacefully following a long illness on March 2, 2005 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Wilmington.

She was born on May 17, 1930 in Munich, Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1952. Ria was a piano teacher and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, Elizabeth and Karl Michelberger. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 52 years, Karl Grieshaber; a daughter, Petra Young and her husband, Bruce; a son, Nickolaus Grieshaber and his wife, Sandie; a son, John Grieshaber and his wife, Meg; along with 7 grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Rd., Greenville, on Monday morning, March 7, 2005, at 10 am, where friends may call after 9:30 am. Burial will be private.
