Ruby Marie Wilson,

Ruby Marie Wilson, 87, of Milton, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, in her granddaughter’s home in New York.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Greenwood, the daughter of the late John Henry and Laura Passwaters Smith. She worked for The PaulBertsein Garment Factory for several years, retiring in 1980.
Mrs. Wilson enjoyed gardening and taking care of her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 17 brothers and sisters; two sons, Preston A. Wilson and Vannie W. Wilson; and her husband, Vannie Wilson.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Edward F. and Gayle Lynn Wilson of Millsobor and Charles Wilson of NMillsboro; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at noon, Thursday, Marchh 17, at Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Milton Odd Fellows cemetery.
Elsie E. Murray,
retired packager
Elsie E. Murray, 82, of Millsboro, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Elsie worked in the vaccine packaging department at Sterwin Laboratories in Millsboro, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Frankford United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Donald E. Magee and his wife, Connie, Wayne R. Murray, and his wife, Margaret; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at noon, Thursday, March 17, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Thatcher Street, in Frankford, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be in Bishopville cemetery.

Albert H. Joseph,

Albert H. Joseph, 79, of Willowick, Oh., died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at LakeWest Hospital in Willoughby, Oh.
Mr. Joseph was born Aug. 1, 1925, in Harbeson and had lived in Willowick since 1958. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Maritime Service from 1942 to 1945. Hew as the owner of Al Joseph Construction Co. and a charter member of Carpenter’s Local 95.
Mr. Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing and wood carving and loved making homemade wine for his friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was loved by all who knew him
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beatrice; a son, Douglas, and his wife, Rosale, of Concord, Oh.; grandchildren Amy Vallos and husband, Chris, of Painesville, Oh., and Douglas and his fiancée, Christine, of Concord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Sallie; and a sister, Mildred.
Services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 19, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Burial will be in Bethel Methodist cemetery , Lewes.03/11/05
Ada I. Foskey,
Georgetown homemaker
Ada I. Foskey, 93 of Georgetown, departed this life Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
She was born March 2, 1912 at Bethel, daughter of the late Arthur D. Phillips and Allie V. (Moore) Phillips.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and canning. She loved taking care of her family. She was fond of dancing and never missed a Saturday night of dancing with her husband when he was living.
She is survived by a daughters, Carolyn F. Rogers and her husband, Ralph Elliott of Georgetown; daughter-in-law, Janice Foskey Owens and husband, Bill of Georgetown; sister-Eleanor Carmine of Laurel; brother, George Phillips of Laurel; granddaughter Sue Schroeder and her husband John of Lewes; grandson Mark Rogers and his wife Paula of Millsboro; granddaughter Cindy Balas of Georgetown; grandson Jeff Foskey and wife Tina of Millsboro; great-grandsons Travis Rogers, Zachery Schroeder and Jonathan Balas; and a great-granddaughter Lauren Balas.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 13, at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 North Bedford St., Georgetown, with Pastor Randy Booth officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Union cemetery , in Georgetown.

Queenie L. Nielsen,
retired nurse
Queenie L. Nielsen, 91, of Lewes, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes.
She was born in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of the late Arthur G. and Lilly Carlson Simmonds. She was a nurse. She was also president of Lititia Doll Clubs and Antique Club and was a curator of Paramas Historical Society. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lewes and associate rector of Medford Episcopal Church in New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her sons, Philip and Timothy, and a daughter, Sharon.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ralph H. Nielsen; four daughters, Patricia and Arlene of Lewes, Jacqueline and her husband, Don, of Lewes and Joanne and her husband, Joe, of Medford, N.J.; two sons, Frederick and his wife, Linda, of Harbeson and David and his wife, Pam, of Vincentown, N.J.; a brother, Martin Simmonds of Auborn, Ind.; 22 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 12, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 e. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Doris M. Carey,

Doris M. Carey, 78, of Millsboro, passed away Monday, March 7, 2005, at home.
Mrs. Carey was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her children and spending time with her family. Over the years, she had been a home healthcare worker and also worked in the processing department at Swift & Co. During her spare time she enjoyed frequenting yard sales and flea markets. She attended Blackwater Fellowship Church.
Mrs. Carey was preceded in death by her husband, Addison E. Carey Sr.; a grandson, Addison “AC” Carey III; eight brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by a daughter, Gloria Absher of Georgetown; a son and daughter-in-law, Addison Carey Jr. and wife Nancy of Millsboro; five grandchildren, George Bradford Jr., Jeff Bradford, Roger Bradford, Tina Absher and Crystal O’Neal; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 14, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call at noon. Burial will be in St. Johnstown cemetery , Greenwood.
Contributions can be made to the funeral home to help defray expenses. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care given to Mrs. Carey by Delaware Hospice and caretaker Jennie Brown.
Mary Ellen Heacock,

Mary Ellen Heacock, 63, of Seaford, died Monday, March 7, 2005, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford.
Mrs. Heacock was born March 13, 1941, in Pottsville, Pa., the daughter of James Bridges of Lewes and the late Irene Bridges.
She enjoyed playing bingo and bowling and had played in the Seven O’clock Express league, where she also served as the league secretary for several years.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Bridges.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Richard Heacock; three sons, Leonard Bridges of Pottsville and James H. Johnson and Christopher R. Varner, both of Seaford; her father; a brother, Robert Bridges of Millsboro; a sister, Louise Kelley of White Haven, Pa.; six grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services and burial will be private.
Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or a local church. Arrangements by Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood.
Robert J. Gold,

Robert Gold, 58, died Monday, March 7, 2005, at home after a courageous 17 year battle with brain cancer. He was with friends and family.
Mr. Gold was born in New York City and grew up in White Plains, N.Y. He was a 1969 graduate of Syracuse University. He taught art and elementary education in New York City schools for 13 years. In 1983 he relocated to Potomac, Md., where he worked as an interior designer for 13 years. In 1996, Mr. Gold moved to Rehoboth Beach. He worked for Framehouse Gallery and Peninsula Gallery in Lewes before opening the Coastal Frameshop and Gallery in Rehoboth. Ill health forced the sale of that gallery.
Mr. Gold met his lifetime partner, Larry Hooker, in 1975. Their 30-year commitment was officially recognized by their marriage in Vancouver B.C. in 2003.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Morris Gold, and his nephew, David Greenspan.
In addition to his partner Larry, he is survived by his mother, Doris Diamond, of Palm Beach Fla.; his sister and her husband, Heather and Michael Greenspan of Rockville, Md.; his niece and her husband, Lisa and David Griffith; a great niece, Kendall; a great nephew, Matthew; his loving cousins; Larry’s family; many devoted friends; and his adored dog, Mitzi.
Services were held at Parsell Funeral Home, Kings Highway, Lewes, with burial in Epworth cemetery
in Rehoboth Beach. The family will sit Shiva, receiving guests at Mr. Gold’s residence from 5-7 p.m Friday. March 11.

William D. Shipley,

William Douglas Shipley, 58 of Lewes, died at his residence Sunday, March 6, 2005.
He was born Oct. 4, 1946, in Lancaster, Pa . Mr. Shipley had been employed as a carpenter by the ERCO Ceiling Company, Harrington. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict and received many medals including the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Good Conduct medal; National Defense Service medal; and the Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters. Mr. Shipley was an avid fisherman and sportsman and enjoyed kayaking. He was a member of the American Legion in Lewes. He was an all around good person and will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his wife Glenda Marie Coughlan Shipley; and a brother, Robert Shipley and his wife Cindy of Lancaster, Pa. He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Hazel Gauchaur Shipley and a brother, Danny Shipley.

Weller Holbrook,
retired purchasing agent
Weller Holbrook of Rehoboth Beach, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Wilmington Hospital, Wilmington.
Mr. Holbrook was born May 29, 1922 in Randallstown, Md.
Mr. Holbrook was a former member of Brooklyn United Methodist Church in Baltimore and graduated from the McDonough School in Randallstown, Md.; and he was a member of the Patmos Masonic Lodge. In 1985, Mr. Holbrook retired as a purchasing agent from the Brush Division of PPG in Baltimore.
Mr. Holbrook is survived by his wife Ruth Collins Holbroo; his son, Guy F. Holbrook and his wife Debra of Reliance; three grandchildren, Joshua, Katie and Clifford Holbrook of Reliance; and one sister Elaine Bolger of Arnold, Md. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jay Holbrook.
All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.

Mary G. Williams,
Lewes homemaker
Mary G. Colin Williams, 94, of Lewes died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at her daughters’s home in Lewes.
Mrs. Williams was born in Fredrikstad, Norway and came to America at the age of 19. She settled in Cambridge, Ma. and was one of 13 children born to Knute and Laura Colin of Norway.
She relocated to Lewes 12 years ago and lived with her daughter.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Arline; her husband, Charles J. Simpson of Lewes; her loving son, Edward Banks and his wife Marie of Woburn, Ma.; and her only remaining sister, Ruth Halvorsen of Burlington, Ma.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas F. Banks; and her second husband, Elliot Williams. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, especially her grandchildren, Michael, Lynne, Gayle, Ann, Cheryl, Steven and David. She loved to crochet and knit sweaters for her great grandchildren, Nicholas, Robert, Shepard, David, Isabella, Dylan, Jillian, Sarah and Zachary.
Her favorite pastime was spending time with her companion, her dog Coli. She had a great sense of humor and had a smile for everyone she met.
She was an avid fisherman for many years with her husband Tom in Gloucester, Ma. and she loved the ocean. Our deepest appreciation to the Angels of Hospice, the many paramedics who made frequent visits to our home and to the Gull House and their staff of dedicated personnel who were so kind to our Mom during her days at Gull House. She loved all of you. Her remains will be spread over the fjords of Norway.
Memorial Services will be held Friday March 11, at 10 a.m., at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Burial will be private. Contributions may be made to charity of choice.
Maureen Kentner,
former Lewes resident
Maureen M. Kentner, 84, of Country Meadows, Frederick, Md. and formerly of Lewes, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Robert W. Kentner.
Born on Nov. 18, 1920 in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Marie Horn Malarkey.
During World War II, she served in the Navy Wave Corps as a surgical technician. She was a loving mother and homemaker who enjoyed golf and was an avid bridge player. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was a member of Nimble Fingers in Silver Spring, Md., the Ocean Waves of Lewes and the Piece Makers of Milford.
She is survived by her three children, Eileen K. Long and her husband Richard, of Frederick, Maryann E . McFee and her husband Douglas of Lewes and Jeffery W. Kentner and his wife Pamela of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren, R. Thomas Long and his wife Laura, Michael Long and his wife Erin, Maureen McFee, Kara McFee and Megan McFee, Beth Kentner and Tracy Kentner; and a great-granddaughter, Macy Marie Long; and a sister, Geraldine Marfurt of Cheektowaga, N.Y.
Graveside services with military honors were held at Arlington National cemetery.
