Dorothy Otto
Age 85 of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Wilmington, died at her home on Sunday, August 29, 2004.
She was born in Wilmington and was a retired secretary for Sun Oil Co. in Wilmington.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Georgetown, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #6 of Wilmington and the Millsboro Senior Center, where she held office for 8 years on their board of directors.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick E. Otto, who died in 1997.
There are no immediate survivors.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, September 3rd, at Calvary Baptist Church, Rt.113, Georgetown, where friends may call after 1 pm.
Interment will be in Silverbrook cemetery in Wilmington.

Harry F. Roane "Jack"
passed away Friday, August 27 in the VA Nursing Home.
Husband of the late Elizabeth Cephas. Father of Eric, Bruce, Wallace, Cynthia and the late, Harry, Jr. and Reginald Roane. Son of the late, Harry and Pearl Roane. Brother of Mattie Toombs, Pearl DaCosta, Lucy Foxx, George Roane and the late Lillie Johnson, Leslie and Emmanuel Roane. Also survived by a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral 12 noon, Friday, September 3 at the CONGO FUNERAL HOME, 201 N. Gray Ave. Viewing 11-12 only. Burial in DE Vets. Memorial cemetery.
Frank Edwin Rumford
Age 74 of Wilmington, DE, died at his home on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 just 2 days before his 75th birthday.
Mr. Rumford owned and operated service stations on Concord Pike for many years, then he went to work for A.I. duPont Institute and retired as supervisor of environmental services. Frank was an army veteran of the Korean conflict. Mr. and Mrs. Rumford are members of Chester Bethel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ann Carolyn Woodward Rumford; son, Frank E. Rumford, Jr. and his wife, Kathleen, daughter, Mary Ann Rumford; 1 brother Andrew P. Rumford of Glen Mills, PA and 2 grandchildren, Mackenzie E. and Zachary R. Rumford. Mr. Rumford is predeceased by his father and mother, Frank S. and Appollonia Glockner Rumford and his stepmother, Sophie Rumford.
Services will be 10 am Saturday, September 4, 2004 in the Chester Bethel United Methodist Church, 2619 Foulk Road, where friends may call from 9 until service time. Services will be officiated by the Reverend Al Taylor. Friends are also invited to call on the family Friday evening, September 3, from 6-8 pm in the McCrery Memorial Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyville. Burial will follow the service in the adjoining church cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions can be made in Mr. Rumford's memory to Chester Bethel United Methodist Church.

Michael C. Sacher
Age 70 of Roswell, GA, died Sunday, August 29, 2004.
Mr. Sacher graduated from St. Norbert's College and the University of Michigan School of Business. He served as an officer in the United States Navy and was a long time executive for the Kimberly Clark Corporation. A successful entrepreneur, Mr. Sacher was owner of Outdoors Unlimited, Inc. He was an extremely active member of St. Brigid Catholic Church, and was an enthusiastic golfer and fisherman. He was a great husband, father and friend. A man well loved and a life well lived.
Mr. Sacher is survived by his wife, Lois Sacher; daughter, Lisa Davis of Roswell, GA; son, Mark Sacher of Roswell, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Gayle Sacher of IL; father and stepmother; Joseph Vernon Sacher and Angeline Sacher, PA; sisters, Julie Martinenza and April Stercula of PA; brothers, Joseph, John and Thomas of DE; grandchildren, Ashley Davis, Samantha, A.J., Jackson, Conrad and Noelle Sacher; great grandchild, Jaylynn Davis Moreno, and nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, September 2, 2004 at St. Brigid Catholic Church, Alpharetta, GA. Father Joe Corbett celebrant.

Phyllis M. Sample
Age 62 of Elkton, MD, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2004.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, James N. Sample, Jr.; children, James N. Sample, III, Daniel A. Sample, and Dana M. Bolte; siblings, Sue E. Strickler and Charles A. Reynolds; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Amy Marie Schorah
Age 21, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2004.
Amy had been a student at the Harrison Career Center studying to be a nurse's assistant. She is survived by her mother, Barbara Schorah and companion, Reynaldo Santiago; her father, Gerald Long; 2 brothers, Gerald Schorah and Thomas Bauerle; 2 sisters, Danielle Schorah and Bethany Bauerle; maternal grandparents, Theresa and Jerome Schorah; paternal grandmother, Laura Long; and dear friend, Irwin.
She was predeceased by paternal grandfather, Frederick Long.
Amy was a loving person, going out of her way to help. She will be sadly and dearly missed by all her family and those who knew her.
A mass will be offered Saturday morning, September 4, 2004 at 10 am in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Cedar & S. Clayton Sts., with burial to follow in Cathedral cemetery. Gregory L. Steiner
Age 38 of Easton, MD, died on Monday, August 30, 2004.
Gregory Lank Steiner was born in Milford, DE on October 15, 1965. He was the son of Donald Lawrence and Marie Dillon Steiner of Milford. After completing his public education, he attended Wake Forest University, where he received his BS degree in 1987. While there he was a member of Kappa Sigma and the R.O.T.C. He remained in the US Army reserve for several years. He then earned his MBA at Emory University where he was Phi Beta Kappa. While living in Atlanta, he worked as a financial consultant for Ernst & Young, then in business development for MCI and finally as an independent contractor for Tel Com Cost Control. In June of 2003, he moved to Easton and joined his family's oil and propane delivery service business, Service Energy, LLC in Milford, DE. At the time of his death, he was owner-operator of Clean Delaware, Inc., an environmental service company. An avid runner, who participated in a full Iron Man Triathlon, he also enjoyed listening to music, particularly Jam bands.
Surviving in addition to his parents, are his wife, the former Amanda Matule, whom he married
in Wilmington, NC on October 11, 1997; a sister, Tracy Steiner McGowan of Richmond, VA, and a brother, Michael Lawrence Steiner of Wilmington, DE.
Memorial services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, September 2, 2004 at Christ Episcopal Church, Easton, where he was a member. Interment will be private.

Bridget (Sweeney) Sullivan
Age 96 of Wilmington, DE, formerly of 1313 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2004.
Mrs. Sullivan, a homemaker, was born in Donegal, Ireland, daughter of the late John and Sophia (Ferry) Sweeney.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nora and Ray Jubb of Wilmington; 3 brothers, Davis Sweeney and Owen Sweeney, both of Donegal, Ireland, and Denis Sweeney of Glasgow, Scotland; and 3 sisters, Una Ronney and Sarah Harvey, both of Ireland, and Madge Greene of Scotland. Other survivors include 6 grandchildren, James and Eugene Owens, Raymond, Patrick and Brian Jubb and Norah Hallett; and 9 great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 7-9 pm on Friday evening, September 3rd, at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone & Milltown Rds., Wilmington.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Saturday, September 4th, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4th St., & Bancroft Pkwy., Wilmington.
Interment will be in Cathedral cemetery, Wilmington.

Bernard W. Williams
Age 80 of Wilmington, DE passed away Friday, August 27, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Willodean Williams; his children, Bernard Lowe, Henry Green, Jackie Anderson and Stern Greene; stepmother, Irene Roles; 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; 6 sisters; 6 brothers and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 10 am Friday, September 3, 2004 at St. Mary's Church, Washington St. at Lea Blvd. Viewing 9-10. Burial Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, Bear, DE.

James H. Blades
Age 57 of Frederica, DE died August 30, 2004 at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Milford, DE to the late James W. and Helen Hendricks Blades and attended Felton High School.
Upon graduation, he received a bachelor's degree from West Chester University and later acquired his master's degree from Salisbury University.
Mr. Blades was also a first lieutenant in the Army National Guard.
Before his retirement in 2002, Mr. Blades was a teacher, coach and athletic director for 33 years for the Lake Forest School District and most recently for 2 years for Saint Thomas More Academy.
As an athletic director and coach, Mr. Blades worked hard at making his teams worthy of respect, most notably the girls and boys cross country and track and field.
He thoroughly enjoyed coaching the students and was an inspiration to his students and faculty alike and earned much love, loyalty and respect.
During the 2 short years at St. Thomas More Academy, he turned around their struggling athletic program and at the same time trained his replacement.
All of these accomplishments and his devotion and love for Lake Forest earned him the honor of having the Lake Forest High School Stadium renamed the James H. Blades Stadium.
Some of his coaching accomplishments included 18 state championships and 25 runner-ups, 25 conference Coach of the Year awards, 4 state Coach of the Year awards, and in 1988, the region 2 cross-country Coach of the Year by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association.
Mr. Blades leadership accomplishments included State Cross Country chairman, treasurer of his conference athletic director's association, a member of the State Track and Field and State Swimming and Diving Committees, board of directors for DSAA which is now DIAA, founder and director of the prestigious Lake Forest Cross Country Invitational for 33 years, and the Keith S. Burgess Track and Field Invitational for 25 years.
He was the meet director for the conference and state cross country and track and field championships.
He took the initiative to host the first girls cross-country championships, and the state finally recognized it as a sport for girls.
Using the St. Thomas Moore Academy gym, he established a 4-week high school boys and girls summer basketball league, a 4-week sports fitness camp, a girls volleyball camp, and a weeklong basketball camp for boys and girls grades 4-8.
His work at the St. Thomas More Academy led to a partnership with the Lake Forest School District.
Lake Forest allows St. Thomas More Academy use of their track and field facility, and both schools united to coordinate the Lake Forest Cross-Country and Keith S. Burgess Track and Field Invitational.
At home, Mr. Blades enjoyed gardening and traveling with his family.
He enjoyed working at the Delaware State Fair in the Pete Pizzadeli's stand.
Mr. Blades was a faithful member of the Felton United Methodist Church and a devote Christian.
Survivors include his loving wife, Bonnie J. Blades of Frederica; son, Scott Blades and his wife, Jennifer, of Gainesville, FL; daughter, Jill Zink and her husband, Matthew, of Frederica; and granddaughter, Madeleine Zink of Frederica.
Visitation will be from 6-9 pm on Thursday, September 2, 2004, at the MELVIN FUNERAL HOME, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE 19952.
The funeral will be held at 1 pm on Friday, September 3, 2004, at the James H. Blades Stadium at the Lake Forest High School in Felton, officiated by Rev. Dr. Philip Lawton of the Felton United Methodist Church.
Interment will be in Hollywood cemetery in Harrington.
