E. Lou LeKites Teeter Blizzard

Age 90 of Rehoboth Beach, DE died Oct. 1, 2003 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. Funeral 10:30 am Mon., Oct. 6, at BERRY SHORT FUNERAL HOME, 119 NW Front St., Milford, with visitation 9:30-10:30.

Joseph V. Hughes, Jr.

Mr. Joseph V. Hughes, Jr., age 59 of Wilmington, DE, died on Friday, October 3, 2003, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

Born in Toms River, NJ, Mr. Hughes was a graduate of Newark High School, where he was captain of the varsity football team.

Following high school, he attended the University of Delaware and studied mechanical engineering. For much of his early career, Mr. Hughes was a restaurateur.

He managed the former Red Barn restaurant on Kirkwood Highway and also owned and operated the former Sugar Shack on Pulaski Highway. He later worked as an auto executive with Gambacorta Buick and GMC, retiring in 2000 after 20 years of service. Mr. Hughes was a member of Holy Rosary parish and served his country in the Army National Guard. In his leisure time, he enjoyed sports and spending time with his children.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie J. (Farnese) Hughes; 2 children, Brooke Hughes and Joey Hughes, both at home; parents, Helen (Nally) and Joseph V. Hughes, Sr. of Newark; brother, Michael Hughes of Landenberg, PA; and 2 sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Symes of Wilmington and Patricia Wentz of De Forest, WI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 noon on Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, where friends may call after 10:30 am. Interment will be in All Saints cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.

Earle L. Isaacs

Age 73 of Ellendale, DE died after a courageous 4-year battle against cancer on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Milford to the late Earle L. and Sarah (Stayton) Isaacs, was a graduate of Milton High School and attended Beacom College. He was a farmer in the Ellendale area. Earle served on the Milton School Board and also served as president. When the new Cape Henlopen School District was formed, he was its first president. He was a member of the Endeavor Lodge #17 AF&AM Scottish Rite, Nur Temple Shrine and the Order of the Eastern Star in Georgetown. He was vice-president of the Delaware Farm Bureau, and state executive director of Delaware ASCS from 1988-1993.

He was on the governor's Agriculture Advisory Council of Delaware and was active in several other farm organizations. Mr. Isaacs was very active in the Republican Party for many years. He was a former member of the Milton Lions Club and was president in 1967. He was also a former member of the Ellendale Ruritan Club. He formerly had been a member of the Ellendale United Methodist Church for over 50 years, serving as Sunday School Superintendent, a trustee and in many other positions. He was currently an active member of Goshen United Methodist Church in Milton.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary Alice (Burroughs) Isaacs; son and daughter-in-law, David E. and Christiana Isaacs of Milton; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Lynne I. and Hugh Rowan of Ellendale and Susan I. and Capt. W. Curry Graham of Stuttgart, Germany; and 10 grandchildren, Cathi Riddle, David Isaacs, Jr., Robbie Isaacs, Jennifer Stutzman, Matthew Rowan, Sarah Rowan, Steven Rowan, Chase Graham, Hunter Graham and Ashlyn Graham. Other survivors include 2 stepgrandchildren, Tina Kuser and Ray Robbins; 6 great grandchildren; and a brother and sisters, J. Donald Isaacs of Townsend and Mary Ann Hearne and Carolyn Isaacs, both of Lincoln.

The funeral will be 2 pm Monday, October 6, at SHORT FUNERAL SERVICES, 416 Federal St., Milton, with visitation 7-9 pm Sunday, October 5. Interment will be in Odd Fellows cemetery in Milton.

Richard Jervey

Age 78 of Wilmington, DE died Thursday, October 2, 2003 at St. Francis Hospital. Mr. Jervey was formerly employed with Phoenix Steel. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sarah L. Jervey; and his children, Diane Delores Jervey, Cranston Jervey, Jacob Mack of Bronx, NY, Mary King (Jacob) of Newark, NJ and Barbara T. Crowe (Gerald) of Tucson, AZ. Other survivors include grandchildren, Djuana "Dee" Jervey of Hampton, VA, Cornelius "Bear" Hurtt, Jr. of Wilmington; 1 sister; 7 brothers; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral will be 12 noon Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at Scott AME Zion Church, 7th & Spruce St., Wilmington, DE, where friends may call from 10-12 noon. Robert M. Kelley, Jr.

Age 68 of Newark, DE passed away peacefully at The Arbors at New Castle on Friday, October 3, 2003, surrounded by his family.

Born in Jenkins, KY, Mr. Kelley served his country in the U.S. Marines and worked for the U.S. Postal Service.

He was the proprietor of Kelley's Liquor Store and Crab House.

Mr. Kelley was an avid golfer and a member of Ed Oliver Golf Club.

His daughter, Loretta, predeceased him. He will be missed by his wife of 43 years, Caroline (Banack) Kelley; 2 sons, Robert III and his wife, Patricia, of Bear and Gary of Pike Creek; his daughter, Laura Kelley of Newark; and a granddaughter, Grace.

Also surviving is his sister, Patricia Manlove of Middletown; and a brother, Arthur Kelley, of Miami Beach, FL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 7, at 11 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Rd., Bear.

Friends are invited to call on Monday evening, October 6, from 6-8 pm at the Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone & Milltown Rds., Wilmington.

Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Bear.

Bobby Louis King, Sr.

Age 65 passed away Sept. 30, 2003 at his residence. Husband of Marian R. King. Father of Brenda Hagains, Bar-bara King-Hudson & Bobby L. King, Jr. Stepfather of Sharon Birck-ett, Carol & Vanessa Reams. Son of Frank Davis, Jr.

& the late Julia S. Davis. Brother of Donnell, Melvin, Frank III, & Keith Davis. Also Ernestine Pendergrass, Shirl Francis & Virginia Robinson. Also survived by 8 grandchildren; 3 sons-in-law, Robert Hudson, Leonard Birck-ett & Derrick Hagains; & a host of other family & friends. Mr. King worked for the Brandywine School District for 30 years. Funeral 11 am Mon., Oct. 6, in Bethel A.M.E. Church, 5th & Walnut Sts. Viewing 9-11 am only. Burial in Gracelawn Memorial Park.

Kate Stein Twer

Age 89 of Philadelphia, PA died October 3, 2003.

She is survived by her son, Sheldon; daughter, Joan Reichwald; and grandchildren, Alisa Wiggins, Canyon Twer and Shara Reichwald.

There will be a graveside service at 12 noon on Sunday, October 5, 2003 in the Jewish Community cemetery on Foulk Rd. Shiva will not be observed due to the Yom Kippur holiday.

Geraldine "Gerri" Wisler

Mrs. Geraldine "Gerri" Wisler, age 58 of Telford, PA, formerly of New Castle, DE, died on Tuesday, September 30, 2003.

Born in Lewes, DE, Gerri was the daughter of retired Superior Court Judge Robert C. O'Hara and the late Mary Melson O'Hora.

She was a graduate of P.S. duPont High School and the Wilmington School of Nursing and had been actively engaged in the nursing field for the past 38 years in various positions in DE, NJ and PA.

An obstetric nurse specialist for 20 years, she had only recently moved from DE to PA, where she was employed at the Ridge Crest Home (for medically fragile children) in Sellersville, PA.

Gerri, who enjoyed reading, dining out and visiting with her grandchildren, fought bravely against a longstanding diabetic condition, and recently, breast cancer.

Her family and many friends will sorely miss her.

Her sister, Laura, preceded Gerri in death in March 2003.

She is survived by her father and stepmother, Robert and Mona E. O'Hara; her children, Robin O'Hara of HI, Grey O'Hara of St. Thomas, Erin Landis and her husband, Philip, of Sellersville, PA and Megan O'Hara of Wilmington; her sisters, Janet O'Hara of New Castle, Eileen O'Hora-Weir and her husband, William, of HI and Lisa O'Hara of Burlington, VT; her grandchildren, Billy Sage of Dover and Brooke and Paige Landis of Sellersville, PA; and her niece, Jess O'Hara of Auburndale, MA.

A Time for Remembrance will be held at 5:30 pm on Sunday, October 5, 2003, at the SPICER-MULLIKIN FUNERAL HOME, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, Wilmington Manor, New Castle, where friends may call after 4 pm.

Joseph A. Augustynowicz "Gus"

Age 85 of Wilmington, DE passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2003 in the VA Hospital in Elsmere.

Gus was an army veteran of WWII, having served with the 3rd Army under General Patton. He received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in a landmine explosion. He was a member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church, and a past officer and life member of the Pulaski Legion. He had been past president of the Bus Zebley Little League of Canby Park. He was the baseball coach for the Pulaski Legion Little League from 1958-1985. He enjoyed golfing and had been a member of the Wilmington Ski Club in the 1950s. He was a technician for 27 years, retiring in 1980 from the Newport Development Lab of the DuPont Company.

Survivors include 2 sisters, Sophie Washall and Helen Ostrowski; stepson, Dennis Maczynski and his wife, Dianna; stepdaughter, Gerri Snavely and her husband, Wayne; a special nephew and caregiver, Joseph and Rose Coffiey; other special nieces and nephews, Anthony August, Brenda Hunter, Maryanne Lapides, Jim August and Paul, Bill and Joseph Ostrowski; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence Mosieg Augustynowicz in September 2001.

A mass will be offered Saturday morning, August 6, at 9 am at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, followed by entombment with military honors in the Crypt of the Lamb of God in Cathedral cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday evening, September 5, from 7-9 at the JOHN F. YASIK FUNERAL HOME, 607 S. Harrison St, Wilmington.

The family requests memorial contributions to the Bus Zebley Little League, c/o the Pulaski Legion, 314 S. Jackson St., Wilmington, DE 19805.

Shirley Edna Barbour

Age 67 of Smyrna, DE, went to be with the Lord, Sat. Jan. 31, 2004.

Service Tues. Feb. 3, at 11 am in the FARIES FUNERAL CHAPEL, 29 S. Main St. Smyrna, where friends may call Mon., Feb. 2 from 7-9 pm.

Burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Dennis Allen Berry

Age 24 of Charlestown, MD died Friday, January 30, 2004 at home.

He was born in Wilmington, DE on March 14, 1979 and was the grounds keeper at Furnace Bay Golf Course in Perryville, MD.

Dennis enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing and cars, especially Ford Mustangs.

He is survived by his parents, William R., Jr. and Gail L. Hamilton Berry of Charlestown, MD; brothers, William R. Berry, III and his wife, Mary of Elkton, MD and Brian A. Berry of Charlestown, MD; half sister, Jennifer L. Peterson of Carmichael, CA; maternal grandmother, Rebecca Hamilton of Newark, DE; Aunt Cass and Uncle Bob Berry of Charlestown, MD; Aunt Ronda Waite of Bear, DE; and cousin, Robert C. "Bobby" Bear, Jr.

He is also survived by several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ralph Hamilton; and paternal grandparents, William R. and Doris Berry.

A service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 S. Main St., North East, MD.

Friends may call from 6-8 pm Tuesday, February 3 at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Sharps cemetery, Fair Hill, MD.

Catherine M. Cammile (Kittie) Brown

Age 76 of New Castle, DE was born to the late Helen and Raymond Cammile September 12, 1927.

She departed this life on Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at the Emily Bissell Nursing Home.

She had 1 son, Richard, who preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory 2 granddaughters, LeTonia and Richella Grimes, both of Wilmington; 3 sisters, Mildred Tabb, Mary Cammile and Carolyn Jackson, all of Wilmington; and 3 brothers, Edward of VA, Crawford of Wilmington and Victor of NY. Her 1 daughter-in-law, Francis Cammile; 5 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends also survive.

There will be a funeral service at 11 am on Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at The House of Wright Mortuary, 208 E. 35th St, Wilmington, DE 19802, where family and friends may call from 9-11 am.

Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park in New Castle, DE.
