Age 67 of Clayton, DE, died at home, Sat. Jan. 31, 2004.
Services Wed. Feb. 4, at 1 pm in the FARIES FUNERAL CHAPEL, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, DE, where friends may call 1 hour prior.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows cemetery Smyrna.
Fred E. Dannaway
Age 83 of Wilmington, DE died while on vacation on Sunday, April 14, 2002 in Temple, TX.
He was born in Altoona, PA and graduated from the Tyrone High School.
He went to Western Kentucky University on a golf scholarship where he was an inter-collegiate golf champion.
After serving in the 82nd Airborne in Germany during WWII, he finished his education at Juniata College and received his master degree from Penn State University.
Mr. Dannaway and his family moved to Wilmington in 1958 where he started teaching Latin and English at Brandywine High School.
While at Brandywine High School, he was an assistant football coach and the golf coach.
The golf team won numerous championships under his direction.
He was also the Latin Club advisor and a pioneer in European travel for students.
He retired in 1982.
An avid golfer and a member of the DuPont Country Club, he was the state champion in PA and KY.
One of his proudest achievements was winning second place in a golf tournament for Occupational Troops in Germany in 1945.
In addition, he won numerous other golf championships.
In his golf career, he had 3 holes in one.
His wife of 59 years, Mary, died in 1997.
He is survived by 2 sons, Fred G. and his wife, Michele of Newark, Jan C. and his wife, Sandra of Little Rock, AR; 1 daughter, Jackie Barbone and her husband, Anthony of Wilmington; 2 sisters, Sally Phillinger and Mary Cecilia Dannaway, both of Tyrone, PA; and 1 brother, Samuel Dannaway of Suitland, MD.
He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Lindley, Frederick, Douglas and Steve Dannaway and Julie and Tony Barbone.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Friday, April 19 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Weldin and Shipley Roads, Wilmington.
Burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Bear.
Friends may call at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Sharpley from 6-8 pm on Thursday evening, April 18.

Willard S. Stewart
Willard S. Stewart was born February 21, 1915 in Wilmington, DE. Willard departed this life on July 12, 2003 in his home as a new day was beginning. He was surrounded by his family, who loved and honored him. Willard embraced life with a strength and passion unequaled.
Willard's devoted wife, Peggy, preceded him in death on February 19, 2002, after 67 years of marriage.
Mr. Stewart was the son of the late Joseph and Mollie Stewart; and is survived by his brother, Richard Stewart of Newark, DE. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, John and Joseph Stewart; and by his sister, Hilda Stewart, all of Wilmington, DE.
In addition to his brother, Mr. Stewart is survived by his 3 children, daughters, Joan Riley of Wilmington, Peggy Snyder of Newtown, CT; and son, W. Douglas Stewart of Denver, CO. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, including James Riley, Janice Baker, and Sean Riley, all of Wilmington, Erick Riley of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Claudia and Heather Snyder of Newtown, CT, Colin, Brendan and Kailey-Claire Stewart of Denver, CO; and 2 great grandchildren, Shannon and Dillon Riley of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Mr. Stewart, a professional portrait photographer, who had studios at Brecks Mill and 1300 Riverview Avenue in Wilmington, was awarded the degree of Master of Photography by the Professional Photographers Association of America, in 1955. The Masters Degree is the highest honor that can bestow upon a professional photographer by the association, on the basis of excellence in technique and craftsmanship.
His "Best of Lifetime" photographs are on permanent exhibits in The Photography Hall of Fame in Santa Barbara, CA, and are considered to be a major asset, and a source of reference and a teaching tool for all professional and amateur photographers.
He also received the James B. Schriever Memorial Plaque, considered the highest honor in photography, in the state of PA.
Mr. Stewart taught many classes at the Winona School of Photography, in Winona, IN. The school, sponsored by the Professional Photographers of America, selected Mr. Stewart as an instructor, on the basis of his standing as a recognized leader in his profession. He also lectured extensively at photographic seminars throughout New England and Canada.
Mr. Stewart was a long time member of the Wilmington County Club, and enjoyed the game of golf.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, on Wednesday, July 16, at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike. Services at the Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church and interment in the Lower Brandywine cemetery will be private.
Dorothy Terry Nichols
Dorothy Terry Nichols passed away at her home on January 25, 2004 after a long illness.
A lifelong Carneys Point resident, she was a 1936 graduate of Penns Grove High School.
She had been a member of the Lutheran Church of St. Ambrose, Pennsville.
Dorothy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother.
She is survived by her children and their families, Thomas R. Nichols and his wife, Lynn, of Carneys Point, Barbara and Her husband, Michael Gauderer of Salem, SC and Ms. Margaret Nichols of Carneys Point.
Also surviving are her brother, Edwin W. Terry of Carneys Point; and a sister, Margaret R. Reardon of Westlake Terrace, WA.
Dorothy is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, Patrick T. Nichols, Gary A. Nichols, Brian T. Nichols, Andrea M. Gauderer, Christian M. Gauderer, Martina T. Gauderer, Evan R. Nichols and Anne Dorothy Nichols.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Thomas W. Nichols; and 2 brothers, Roy B. Terry, Jr. and John R. Terry.
A funeral service will be held 11 am, Thursday, January 29 at the Lutheran Church of St. Ambrose, 443 S. Broadway, Pennsville where friends are invited to call from 10-11 am.
Interment will be in Eglington cemetery, Clarksboro.

James Kirkwood Buckley, Sr.
Age 73 went home to be with Jesus March 30, 2004.
Jim was a decorated war hero who loved his country and proudly served in the Korean War with the U.S. Army.
He was awarded the Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Stars.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Jim loved spending time with his family.
He also enjoyed sports, fishing and boating.
He was a graduate of Archmere Academy and attended the University of Delaware.
Jim was a member of the Captain Paul N. Dill Chapter #2 Korean War Veterans Association.
Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Alice Betty Buckley; 2 sons, James K. Buckley, Jr., William L. Buckley; and 2 daughters, Beth Buckley Rath and her husband, Paul, and Susan Chatburn and her husband, Timothy.
Grandchildren, Allie, Maddie, Beau, Tyler and Victoria Chatburn and Colton, James Treston and Cassiona Rath also survive.
Jim joins his parents, Edwin L. Buckley, Sr. and Helen Kirkwood Dick Buckley; and brother, Edwin L. Buckley, Jr.
A memorial service in celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2004, at 11 am at Immanuel Church, 2414 Pennsylvania Ave., Wilmington, DE 19806, where friends may call at 10 am.
Burial will be private in the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Bear.

Dolly Mae Chandler Farraday
Age 72 of the Linwood section of Lower Chichester, PA died March 31, 2004 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Upland.
Mrs. Farraday was born in St. Louis, MO, where she was reared and educated. Dolly was a woman who devoted her life to her home and her family. She worked as a floating manager for 7-11 at several stores over the last 20 years.
She was the sister of the late Lillian Farraday. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Richard "Ed" Farraday; 1 son, Scott E. Farraday of Highland, MI; 4 daughters, Pamela G. Rose of Wilmington, DE, Grace "Ricky" Taylor of Trainer, Anastasia E. Jones of Boothwyn and Kimberly A. Massey of Newark, DE; 1 sister, Wilma Vineland of St Louis, MO; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service 10:30 am Saturday, April 3, at the WARD FUNERAL HOME, 1459 Market St, Linwood, where calling hours will be from 9-10:30. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope cemetery, Aston.

Wayne F. Gemmill
Age 61 of Bear, DE passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at the Hillside House.
A former vice president of Wilmington Piano, Mr. Gemmill owned Lanning Piano Company. He was a lifelong musician and enjoyed performing at the Tally-Ho Lounge. He was also an avid painter and artist.
He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Miller, and her husband, Joe, of Bear; his son, Jeffrey Gemmill, of Middletown; 4 grandchildren, Krystin, Joey, Kole and Zach; his brother, Robert Gemmill, of Millsboro; and his former spouse, Kathleen.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 3rd, at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone & Milltown Rds., Wilmington, where family and friends may call after 9:30 am. Interment will be in Cathedral cemetery, Wilmington.

Age 21 of Elkton died March 30, 2004.
