Marlene Pepper Dougherty
A graveside service for Marlene Pepper Dougherty, 44, of Felton, was held on Friday, Oct. 6 in Odd Fellows cemetery, Camden. Mrs. Dougherty died from complications of multiple sclerosis on Monday, Oct. 2, 2000 in her home.
Mrs. Dougherty was born in 1956 in Wilmington, the daughter of Richard and Esther Pepper of Felton.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Daniel Dougherty; a sister, Donna Ansbach of Felton; a brother, Monty Pepper of Felton; two foster brothers, David Warrington of Felton and Martin Warrington of Dover; two foster sisters, Marie Kemp and Nada Kimball, both of Dover; three nieces; and three nephews.
Arrangements were by Trader Funeral Home, Dover.
Beulah Hazel Rodway
A funeral service for Beulah Hazel Rodway, 96, of Dover, was held on Friday, Oct. 6 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover. Ms. Rodway died on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000 in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Ms. Rodway was born in 1904 in Kent County, the daughter of the late Olla B. and Eva Short Hazel.
She graduated from the University of Delaware with a teaching degree.
She began her career in Leipsic in a 2-room schoolhouse and had taught there until the school closed. She then taught elementary education in the Capital School District.
Ms. Rodway was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover; the Capital Grange; and the Order of the Eastern Star Kent Chapter 11 in Milford, where she was a past matron.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Raymond C. Hazel; a sister, Leona Hazel; and a nephew, Bruce A. Hazel.
She is survived by two nephews, William R. Hazel of Wilmington and John Clay Inman of Claymont; two nieces, Deborah Zingale of Wilmington and Dolores Getty of Morton, Pa.; four grandnieces; and four grandnephews.
Burial was in Lakeside cemetery, Dover.
Harry M. 'Hink' Thompson
A graveside service for Harry M. "Hink" Thompson, 82, of Smyrna, was held on Friday, Oct. 6 in Odd Fellows cemetery, Smyrna. Mr. Thompson died on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000 in his home.
Mr. Thompson was born in Smyrna, the son of the late William E. and Anna L. Thompson.
He was a 1936 graduate of John Bassett Moore High school in Smyrna, and a 1938 graduate of Beacom College in Wilmington.
Mr. Thompson was an Army Air Corps liaison pilot during WW II, serving in Europe.
Shortly after the war, he was employed as an accountant with Ennis & Deakyne Ford dealership of Smyrna, until 1969. At that time, he was appointed a Magistrate Judge by Governor Russell Peterson, retiring in 1983.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and animals.
Mr. Thompson was a member of Harmony Lodge, AF & AM, and a life member of Citizens Hose Co., both of Smyrna. He was also one of the original organizers of the Smyrna-Clayton Little League, where he umpired for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary G. Thompson of Smyrna; a daughter, Joyce E. Thompson of Dover; a sister, Anne T. Jones of Bonita Springs, Fla.; two grandsons, S. Greggory Rebar of Darlington, Md., and Daron T. Rebar of Newark.
Arrangements were by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, Smyrna.
Curtis Lee 'Pep' Nolette
A funeral service for Curtis Lee "Pep" Nolette, 40, of Hartly, was held on Thursday, Oct. 5 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover. Mr. Nolette died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000 in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mr. Nolette was born in 1960 in Danville, Pa., the son of Harry and Marjorie Beyer Nolette.
He did carpentry, electrical and plumbing work for Sinclair Construction of Hartly.
Mr. Nolette lived in Delaware most of his life.
His hobbies included motorcycles, hunting, shooting and cooking. He was mechanically inclined and enjoyed working on vehicles and computers.
Mr. Nolette was a member of A.B.A.T.E.
He is survived by his parents, Harry Nolette of Wheaton, Md., and his wife Angela, and Marjorie I. Nolette of Marydel; a special friend, Janice L. Austin of Camden; his step-mother, Angela Nolette of Wheaton, Md.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Mike Nolette and Chris and Theresa Nolette, all of Marydel; two half-brothers, Jeremy Nolette and Gabriel Nolette, both of Wheaton, Md.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sue Monaco of Marydel, Debbie and Hal Berry of Middletown, and Karen and Rick DaFonte of Hartly; a half-sister, Jessica Rose Nolette of Wheaton, Md.; five nephews; and one niece.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
Clyde W. Dronebarger Jr.
A funeral service for Clyde W. Dronebarger Jr., 68, of Milford, was held on Thursday, Oct. 5 at Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford. Mr. Dronebarger died on Monday, Oct. 2, 2000 in Milford Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Dronebarger was born in Newark, N.J., the son of the late Clyde W. Dronebarger Sr.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He retired in 1986 as a loader in the shipping department of the Johns Manville Roofing Corp.
Mr. Dronebarger was a member of the Moose Lodge #9 of Milford. He attended St. John's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Cordick Dronebarger; his son, Tom Dronebarger, at home; two daughters, Carol Dronebarger of Somerville, N.J. and Caren Neunert of Middlesex, N.J.; three stepsons, Jimmy Runyon of Branchburg, N.J., George Runyon of Sumerville, N.J., and Brian Runyon of Easton, Pa.; a step-daughter, Debra Klosowski of Milton; his mother, Helen Dronebarger of Danellon, N.J.; two brothers, Bob Dronebarger of South Boundbrook, N.J., and John Dronebarger of Piscataway, N.J.; a sister, Patty Rozbarski of Manville, N.J.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Burial was in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
Alfred Martin Braasch
A funeral service for Alfred Martin Braasch, 79, of Greer, S.C., was held on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Mackey Mortuary in Greenville, S.C. Mr. Braasch, formerly of Smyrna, died on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000 in Johnson City, N.Y.
Mr. Braasch was born in Raub, N.D., the son of the late Lambert and Hilda Braasch.
He graduated from North Dakota State University, Fargo.
Mr. Braasch was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He retired from Warner-Lambert.
Mr. Braasch was a member of a nondenominational church, and a loved and respected father.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Gunvor Anita Braasch, in 1992; and his second wife, Jennie Braaksma Braasch, whom he married
in 1993.
Mr. Braasch is survived by a son, Dennis Braasch of Greer, S.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Allen W. Johnson of Endwell, N.Y.; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Herman and Ellen Braasch of Los Angeles, Wallace and Grace Braasch of Raub, and Carmi and Jeanette Braasch of Minot, N.D.; a sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Jerry Salvesen of Danville, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Allen, Martin and Ingrid Johnson, and Russ and Ryan Braasch.
A graveside service and burial was held on Sunday, Oct. 8 in Odd Fellows cemetery, Smyrna.

Corine Richardson
A funeral service for Corine Richardson, 74, of Dover, was held on Saturday, Oct., 7 at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover. Mrs. Richardson died on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000 in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. Richardson was born in 1926 in Drewsville, Va., the second of three children born to the late Estelle and Isaiah Whitfield. When she was very young, her family moved to Capton, Va., where she was educated.
She married
, had three children and moved to Portsmouth, Va. She then married
her second husband, Herman Richardson, moved to Houston, and had two more children.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnnie Newsome.
Mrs. Richardson is survived by four sons, John and Shirley Newsome of Black River, N.Y., Robert and Jameszina Newsome of Houston, James Richardson of Dover and Thomas Richardson of Poughkeepski, N.Y.; a daughter, Sally White of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Burial was in Odd Fellows cemetery, Milford.
Sherry A. Styhler
A funeral private funeral service for Sherry A. Styhler, 53 of Dover, was held at the family's convenience. Ms. Styhler died suddenly on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000 in her home.
Ms. Styhler was born in Riverside, Calif., the daughter of the late Neil and Jody McReynolds Coon.
She moved from San Diego to Dover in 1995 to be closer to her family.
Ms. Styhler enjoyed spending time on the beaches, shopping at the malls and, most of all, she loved the times spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Katherine Reeves of Dover; two sons, Doug Hannah of Fresno, Calif., and Kevin Hannah of Dover; two brothers, David Coon and Ed Coon, both of California; and five grandchildren.

Ivan Jay Mast
A funeral service for Ivan Jay Mast, 14, of Wyoming, was held on Tuesday, Oct. 10 in the home of Ivan J. Miller in Dover. Ivan died on Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Ivan was born on Dec. 20, 1985 to Henry E. and Rosa J. Mast (Hershberger) of Wyoming.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eli and Katie Mast; a brother, Harvey, age 24; four sisters, Ruth Ellen, age 25, Betty Ann, age 21, Lydia Mae, age 18, and Sylvia, age 10; three nieces; and a nephew.
Burial was in the Amish cemetery, Dover, with John Yoder officiating.
Arrangements were by Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover.
Sadie Dolores Pettyjohn Neal
A funeral service for Sadie Dolores Pettyjohn Neal, 79, of Dover, was held on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover. Mrs. Neal died on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000 in her home.
Mrs. Neal was born in 1921, the daughter of the late George and Ana Pettyjohn of Georgetown.
She grew up in Georgetown and received her education at Richard Allen School.
Mrs. Neal was know to many as "Mother," and her all-time favorites were reading her Bible, gospel music, crossword puzzles and enjoying the ocean. She also loved to travel nationally and internationally.
Most of all, she enjoyed having family gatherings with all her children. She was a devoted mother to her own as well as to others.
Mrs. Neal joined Prospect AME Church in Georgetown at an early age. She also joined New Birth Deliverance and Prophetic Church in Milford, where she was a life member. She was a prayer warrior and always encouraged people.
She will be greatly missed by those who loved her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Neal Sr.; two sons, James Neal Jr. and Donald Neal; and a daughter, Joann Paulette Neal.
She is survived by eight sons, George, Raymond and Keith Neal, all of Dover, and Jerald, David, Charles, Larry and Gregory Neal, all of Wilmington; two daughters, Janice Creighton of Dover and Michele Neal of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son-in-law, David Creighton; two daughters-in-law, Catherine Carey and Sadie Neal; 32 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three adopted daughters, Darlene Miller, Patricia Jackson and Yvonne Mullen; two adopted sons, Richard Lee Walker "Cowboy", and Anthony "Tony" Harrison; and a host of cousins and friends.
Burial was in Sharon Hills Memorial Gardens, Dover.
