Charles "Chuck" M. Patterson
A celebration of life service for Charles "Chuck" M. Patterson, 64, of Lincoln, will be held at noon on Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Milford Church of the Nazarene, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor J. Lions, Pastor K. Huffman and Pastor J. McCormick will officiate.
Mr. Patterson died of cancer on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000 at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Mr. Patterson was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was a former police officer and was employed by Bennett Security. He retired from the State of Delaware as the captain of the Woodland Ferry in Seaford.
He was a faithful member of the Milford Church of the Nazarene, where he enjoyed fellowship and worshipping the Lord.
Mr. Patterson is survived by his wife, Mary Fitzgerald Patterson of Lincoln; a daughter, Beverly Patterson Evatt of South Carolina; a step-daughter, Debra Keith of Canterbury; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Hilton Dow of Magnolia; four nieces and their husbands, Dale and Larry Rife of Wyoming, Jeanne and Mike Rash of Woodside, Tina and Michael Hills, and Teresa and Greg Chen of Delaware; a nephew and his wife, Barry and Lisa Hearin of Felton; a brother-in-law and his wife, Kenneth and Lena Fitzgerald; a sister-in-law and her husband, Margaret and Tim Helsdon; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Georgetown.
Lynette V. Hooks
A funeral service for Lynette V. Hooks, 45, of Felton, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12 at Greater Life Christian Church, Head Start Lane, Star Hill. Ms. Hooks died due to complications following surgery on Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 at Kent General Hospital.
Ms. Hooks was born in 1955 in Dover, the daughter of Doris Hooks of Felton and the late Essrie "Bo" Hooks.
She attended Lake Forest High School.
At the time of her death, she was employed at Playtex Production Inc. in Dover.
Ms. Hooks was a member of New Birth Christian Center in Greenwood.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Jean Allen.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by four children, Tony, Latoya, John, and Denzel Hooks, all of Felton; two stepsisters, Tameka and Shenell; two grandchildren, Marlena and Deondre; five step-grandchildren; a longtime companion, John Hicks; five brothers, Essrie Benson of Florida, Russell of Felton, Kevin of Camden, Kenneth of Frederica and Sammy Benson of Dover; four sisters, Sharon Pierce of Bridgeville, Laura Lovette of Maryland, Evelyn Perry and Carol Artis of Slaughter Neck; and a host of aunts, uncles, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover.
Burial will be in Whatcoat cemetery, Dover.
Leon 'Smokey' Shahan
A funeral service for Leon "Smokey" Shahan, 79, of Frederica, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12 at Pippin Funeral home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. this evening.
Mr. Shahan died on Monday, Oct. 9, 2000 in Milford Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Shahan was born in 1921 in Felton, the son of the late Anna Sherwood and Dewey Shahan.
He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Army with the 11th Armored Division under Gen. George S. Patton. He entered the European Campaign by way of England and traveled throughout Europe, participating in the Battle of the Bulge. He ended his European duty in Austria and was honorably discharged on Dec. 4, 1945, with the rank of sergeant.
Mr. Shahan had been a federal employee at Dover Air Force Base, Dover, with over 27 years as an electrician. He retired in 1971.
He was a devoted life member of the Bowers Fire Company Station 40. He gave 61 years service, during which he held every office.
Mr. Shahan had been a 40-year life member of the fire police and was past president of the Delaware, Kent County Fire Police Association. He was also a member of the American Legion and was past post leader.
He was a member of the Walter L. Fox Post 2 for 25 years; the Harrington Moose Lodge for 28 years; a member of the 11th Armored Division Association Inc.; and an honorary member of the Bowers Ladies Auxiliary.
Mr. Shahan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Emma Elizabeth Shahan; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Leon Sr. and Connie Marie Shahan of Dover; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Beverly Jean Shahan of Frederica, Bonnie Lee and Perry Mosley of Frederica, Linda Ann and Hank Hudson of Charlotte, N.C., Marielen Elizabeth and Russell Littleton of Frederica, and Mille A. and John W. Boc Jr. of Frederica; a brother, Kenneth Shahan of Frederica; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Burial with fireman's honors will be in Barratt's Chapel cemetery, Frederica.

Leroy A. Durham
A funeral service for Leroy A. Durham, 80, of Dover, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Mr. Durham died on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000 in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mr. Durham was born in 1919 in Kenton, the youngest son of 13 children born to the late Enoch and Lola Durham.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and retired as a master sergeant.
Mr. Durham owned and operated Leroy's TV Service in Dover. He also worked at Everhart Brothers TV Repair in Smyrna.
He enjoyed gardening, especially his roses. He also enjoyed working on his computer for hours.
Mr. Durham was a member of the VFW in Dover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Leroy A. Durham II, in 1994.
Mr. Durham is survived by his wife of 54 years, Thelma C. Durham of Dover; a son, William E. Durham of Smyrna; two daughters Pamela Stevenson and her husband, Frank of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Cheryl Moos of Wilmington ; and six grandchildren, Andrew, Pamela, Joseph, Jason, Timothy and Maggie.
Burial will be in Delaware Veteran's Memorial cemetery, Bear.

Stephen E. Bodolus
A Mass of Christian Burial for Stephen E. Bodolus, 68, of Dover, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12 at Chapel 2, Dover Air Force Base, Dover. Mr. Bodolus died on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000 in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital.
Mr. Bodolus was born in 1932 in Pottstown, Pa., the son of the late Stephen and Elizabeth Bodnar Bodolus.
He was a retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant with 21 years of service. During his military career, he coached football and baseball.
Mr. Bodolus enjoyed fishing and boating.
He was a North Country High School graduate in Pottstown, Pa., and attended Delaware State University.
Mr. Bodolus was a charter member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter I, Dover; Knights of Columbus Council 9098; and the Air Force Sergeants Association; a member of Walter L. Fox Post 2 American Legion; the 47th Bomb Wing; and the 85th Bomb Squadron Association.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nina Bodolus of Dover; three sons, Stephen Bodolus of Felton, Christopher and Claudia Bodolus of Texas, and Anthony Bodolus of Dover; two sisters, Veronica Jackley of Pottstown, Pa., and Mary Ann Maylath of Douglasville, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Kathryn Liz Bodolus and Christopher Bodolus, both of Texas.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover.
Burial will be at Odd Fellows cemetery, Camden.

Florence A. 'Nana' Seymour
A memorial service for Florence A. "Nana" Seymour, 89, of Dover, will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Seymour died on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000 in Courtland Manor Nursing Home, Dover.
Mrs. Seymour was born in Millsboro, the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Nina Moore.
Upon graduating from Millsboro High School in 1929, she went to Philadelphia to beautician school.
She married
Robert T. Seymour, a Marine who was serving at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
Mrs. Seymour worked until she was 83. Her career was varied and ranged from selling clothes at Ableman's Department store in Millsboro to serving as a cosmetic technician for Lazarus Department Store in Columbus, Ohio.
She also worked for many years at Hecht's in Salisbury, Md., and was employed most recently as a receptionist and scheduler at Okemah's Cut Above in Dover.
Mrs. Seymour was a free spirit and loved to travel. Her interests were varied and included watercolors, sketching and reading.
Some of her fondest memories were of the years she and her husband had spent in Washington when he served as a legislative assistant to U.S. Sen. John J. Williams. She enjoyed sharing stories about her contact with political leaders.
Mrs. Seymour will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband.
Mrs. Seymour is survived by a daughter, Marjorie S. Koble of Dover; a brother, Paul B. Moore of Millsboro; three grandchildren, Michael Banning of Milford, Mark T. Banning of Rehoboth Beach, and Lester E. Banning III of Felton; five great-grandchildren; and a niece and nephew.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

George E. Klecan
A funeral service for George E. Klecan, 62, of Hartly, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover. Mr. Klecan died on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000 in his home.
Mr. Klecan was born in 1938 in Goldsboro, Md., the son of the late William J. and Emma Thorpe Klecan.
He worked as a maintenance mechanic for Reichhold Chemical Inc. of Cheswold.
He enjoyed woodworking and was also an avid hunter.
Mr. Klecan attended Wyoming United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles W. Klecan.
Mr. Klecan is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathleen E. Klecan of Hartly; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jeffrey Klecan of Hartly, Dennis and Kathy Klecan of Dover, and Dale and Diane Klecan of Hartly; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Alfred Klecan of Sudlersville, Md., James and Tina Klecan of Hazletteville, and Louis and Carol Klecan of Sandtown; eight sisters, Elsie Greenley and Susie Klecan, both of Goldsboro, Md., Betty Smith of Marydel, Md., Dorothy Sard of Sandtown, Edith Greenly of Felton, Ruth Sance of Rutherfordton, N.C., Joan Engelsiepen of Hazlettville, and Shirley McNamira of Dover; five grandchildren, Taylor, Brady, Brittany, Hunter, and Scott; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
