Lois N. Reynolds,
retired secretary
Lois N. Reynolds, 77, of Milton and formerly of West Chester, Pa., passed away Saturday, July 9, 2005, at Lewes Convalescent Center.
Lois was born in Westboro, Ohio, daughter of the late Burt and Carrie Butters Nicely.
She had worked as a secretary for more than 20 years at West Chester University, retiring several years ago. After her retirement, she moved, along with her husband, from West Chester to Milton, where the couple resided for the past 10 years. She was a member of the New Life Bible Fellowship Church in Long Neck and had attended Grace Church in Milton. After moving to Delaware, she volunteered with the American Red Cross for five years.
In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her brother, Russell Nicely. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Delmas Reynolds; two sons, Mark Reynolds of Bedford, Texas, and Keith Reynolds of Lancaster, Pa.; a grandson, Seth Reynolds; and two sisters, Doris Snyder of Wilmington, Ohio; and Thelma Mowen of Xenia, Ohio.
A funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, in the chapel at Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after 6 p.m. Burial will be Wednesday, July 13, in West Nottingham cemetery
in Port Deposit, Md.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the New Life Bible Fellowship Church, 24771 Cannon Road, Long Neck, DE 19966.
Gary Ray Stroeckel,

Gary Ray Stroeckel, 46, of Georgetown, died Friday, July 8, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Stroeckel was born in Milford, the son of Gerald and Sylvia Downes Stroeckel.
He was a mason for the past 20 years and had worked for D&D Masonry and most recently for Peninsula Masonry. He was a graduate of Sussex Central High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard work and gardening, and he loved nature and wildlife.
Mr. Stroeckel is survived by his parents, Gerald and Sylvia Stroeckel of Georgetown; his companion of 19 years and fiancee Kay Farrelly; three borthers, Larry Stroeckel and his wife Lisa, of Georgetown; Ronald Stroeckel and his wife Kim, of Georgetown; Kevin Stroeckel and his wife Kara, of Georgetown; grandmother Ella Downes Gramling of Georgetown; four nephews; two nieces; four dogs, Taco Rambet, Shelby and Boogie; and a pet squirrel, Lynard.
A services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, at Short Funeral Services, 609 East Market Street, Georgetown, where friends may call after 12 p.m.

Anna Mae King,
devoted to family
Anna Mae King, 71, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Anna was born in Millsboro, the daughter of the late Henry and Catherine Warrington Plummer. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. King is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, William D. King Sr.; six children, Carol K. Atkins, William D. King Jr. and his wife, Eileen, E. Louise Haneschlager and her husband, Tom, Alan L. King and his wife, Michele, Donna L. Morris and her husband, Wesley, and Brenda M. Hastings and her husband, Russell. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Jason Andrew Atkins, Kimberly A. King, Melissa S. King, Joy L. Hudson, Amanda N. Kauffman, William Vaughn King, Kara Ashley King, Allan Michael King, Casey L. Morris, Colby L. Morris, J. Paige Elliott and Zoey Leighann Hastings; eight great-grandchildren, Shayna A. Smith, Justin A. Atkins, Aiyana K. Parsons, Kai X. Parsons, Ashley Hudson, William “Billy” Holloway, Mitchie Bramble and Natalie Bramble; four brothers, Virgil Plummer, John Plummer, Charlie Plummer and Sam Chandler; and one sister, Doris Hitchens.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, July 10, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road, where friends may call after 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Conley’s Chapel cemetery
near Angola.

Ruby Fisher Dailey,

Ruby Audry Fisher Dailey, 69, of Rehoboth Beach, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 31, 1935 in Lewistown, Pa. to the late Clyde and Lottie Kirk Fisher. Mrs. Dailey enjoyed gardening, crocheting and crafts.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Dailey; three daughters and two sons, Joseph Dailey III, Denise Creeden, Tamby Lindell, Fawn Mirabella and Shawn Dailey; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donald Fisher.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call Sunday, July 10, 6-8 p.m. Interment will be private.

Gertrude S. MacMasters

Gertrude Shankland MacMasters, 88, passed away in Silver Lake Center, Dover Monday, July 4, 2005.
Gertrude was born in Philadelphia to Harold and Louetta Shankland. She had a career in fashion merchandising, working for Braunsteins in Wilmington and retiring from John Wanamaker in Alapocas. She was a skilled cook and enjoyed entertaining. She also loved playing bridge.
She was predeceased by her husband, George G. MacMasters Sr.; and a sister, Genevieve Walker.
She is survived by her son, G. Greer MacMasters of Rehoboth Beach; and grandchildren Deborah Milner of Detroit, Mich., Wayne MacMasters of Newport News, Va. Linda Farrall-Smith of Newark, and Elaine Balcerak of Dover. She is also survived by eight beloved great-grandchildren; a cousin, Betty Kirkwood of Florida; and a niece, Elaine Benke of Pennsylvania.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1502 W 13 St., Wilmington, Monday, July 11, at 2 p.m. Family and friends are invited.
Burial will be private at Forest Hills cemetery
in Philadelphia.

Benjamin E. DeHaven, 68, of Millsboro, died Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Born in Bryn Mawr, Pa. to the late Benjamin and Mary Tague DeHaven, he was raised in Edgemont Township. Ben resided in Pot Nets for 12 years, previously residing in Brookhaven, Aston, Upland and Glen Mills.
Ben was an automobile and equipment mechanic his entire working life. He was an airport ground support mechanic for ARA Ground Services Inc. at the Philadelphia International Airport and also worked for Celetex Corporation in Philadelphia and the Alden Rug Mills in Lenni.
Ben had a passion for antique cars and was very fond of his dog.
He is survived by is wife. Elizabeth Dryden DeHaven; two sons, Benjamin DeHaven of Boothwyn and Robert DeHaven of Georgetown; a daughter, Chrisitine Newman of Wilmington; a sister, Mary Shoaf of Brookhaven; a brother, Thomas DeHaven of Westtown; five grandchildren; and his former wife, Abigail Seth of Brookhaven.

George J. Maurino,

George J. Maurino, 67, of Lewes and formerly of Waretown, N.J., passed away at his home Tuesday, July 5, 2005.
He was born in Newark, N.J., and worked at Port Elizabeth-Mar Terminal in Newark. He was a member of the Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge and American Legion Post 28 of Riverdale/Oak Orchard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, Feb. 6, 2005.
He is survived by two sons, Anthony Maurino and his wife, Gayle, and Jason R. Wells, all of Lewes; two grandchildren, Emory r. and Savey Ann Maurino; and his beloved friends, Michelle Fiorelli and Cathy and Brian Cino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m., Friday, July 8, at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, Rt. 24, near Millsboro. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Rt. 113, Millsboro. Arrangements by Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck.

Hugh Cowan, 90, of Harbeson, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at home.
He was born and raised in Scotland, the son of the late James and Francis Ann Rice Cowan and worked for General Motors Corporation for 33 years. Hugh was a member of Midway Assembly of God.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta; a daughter and son-in-law, June and Harvey Schneider of Daffney, Ala.; a son, Kenneth Cowan of Tampa, Fla.; five stepchildren, Sandy West of Milton, Norman Newcomb Jr. of Lewes, Joyce Burton, Faye Davis and Cecelia Hill, all of Rehoboth Beach; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 9, at Midway Assembly of God, Rt. 1, Midway, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Burial will be in Conley’s Chapel cemetery , Angola.

Leonard Valin,
retired policeman
Leonard Valin, 82, of Lewes, died Monday, July 4, 2005, at his home after a long battle with cancer with his family by his side.
Mr. Valin was born Sept. 6, 1922 in Wilkes Barre, Pa., to the late John and Jessie Valinchus.
Mr. Valin began his career in law enforcement as a police officer for the District of Columbia Police Department. He then served on the White House Police Force under President Harry S. Truman for a period of time before returning to the District of Columbia Police Department. He served in the First Infantry of the U.S. Army, European Theatre, during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a Mason with the Kemper Lodge in Falls Church, Va..
Mr. Valin is survived by his wife, Hazelmae Gillette Valin of Lewes; two sons, Craig Valin of Beaver Dam, Va. and Wayne Valin of Manassas, Va.; five grandchildren, Ivan, Aaron, Megan, Joey and Eric; and one sister, Eleanor Pascavage of Edwardsville, Pa.
Private services will be held at The Delaware Veterans cemetery
in Millsboro.

Florence Fitler,
former preschool teacher
Florence Anna Miller Fitler, resident of Sterling Glen in Darien, Ct., died of a stroke on Saturday, July 2, while vacationing in New Hampshire with her family.
Florence was born on Dec. 12, 1916, in Rutherford, N.J., the last home birth delivered by the famous poet William Carlos Williams. She grew up in Rutherford, Rome, N.Y.; and St. Louis, Mo.; and graduated from Stephens College in Missouri and Columbia Teachers College in New York City. She taught preschool prior to her marriage in 1940 to Lester Fitler Jr., the love of her life, who died in 1985. For many years she lived in Rome, N.Y., moved to Lewes, in 1969, and then to Darien in 2002.
She is survived by her three children and their families, Leslie Fitler Furst of New Canaan, Ct., William Fitler of Milton, and Catherine Fitler Brown of Mifflinburg, Pa. There are six grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Florence enjoyed painting water colors, and was a long-time member of the Cape Artists in Lewes, and inspired the formation of an art class at Sterling Glen. An avid reader, Florence served as an officer of the library in Lewes for many years. She also was an active member of Zion Episcopal Church in Rome, St. Peter’s Church in Lewes, and St. Luke’s in Darien. A gracious lady to the end, she will be missed by many for her kind acts and thoughtful words.
There will be a service at St. Peter’s cemetery

Larry E. Jester,
Seaford welder
Larry Edward Jester, 48, of Greenwood, died Sunday, July 3, 2005, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford.
He was born January 4, 1957 in Seaford to the late Lawrence Jester and Virginia “Paxton” Jefferson of Bridgeville.
Mr. Jester worked for 15 years at the Darling/J.C.R. Plant as a welder and in maintenance.
He is also survived by his wife Rhea E. Elliott Jester; a daughter, Tonya Willoughby of Greenwood; a son, Dean Elliott of Lincoln; two sisters, Cathy Smoot of Bridgeville and Melissa Walbert of Greenwood; four brothers, Larry Grant of Laurel, Bobby Bitler of Ellendale, Kenny Jester of Bridgeville, and Jeff Jefferson of Seaford; and four grandchildren.

Lily May Nuskey Evans, 81, of Milton, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at her residence. Mrs. Evans was born May 30, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Ernest and Mary Ellen Hocker Nuskey.
Mrs. Evans had been employed as a cafeteria cook in the Neshaminey, Pa. school district. She enjoyed reading, bingo and playing slot machines.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband, Robert Arthur Evans Sr. of Milton; a son, Robert Arthur Evans Jr. and his wife Sherry of Elizabethtown, Pa.; two daughters, Dorothy Evans of Albrightsville, Pa. and Mary Goldey of Levittown, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and her brother, Ernest Nuskey of Bensalem, Pa.
Funeral services were held at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, at 4 p.m., Friday, July 1, with Pastor Charlie Arnold officiating.
