Patricia R. Lingo Lawson,

Patricia R. Lingo Lawson, 62, of Wilmington, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, in Harbor Health Care, Lewes.
Born in Lewes, Mrs. Lawson was employed as a park supervisor and retired from the New Castle County Department of Parks and Recreation. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Millsboro. She was the recipient of the George T. Sarginsson Award for outstanding service as a park supervisor. She loved the beach and was a graduate of Frederick College in Portsmouth, Va.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Olive Hitchens Lingo, in 1978.
She is survived by her son, Thomas R. Lawson of Rehoboth Beach; her father, Joseph C. Lingo of Millsboro; and her grandson, Dylan Thomas Lawson.
Services were held at Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, with burial in Millsboro cemetery , Millsboro.
William V. Nuneville,
avid fisherman
William, V. Nuneville, 54, died in Lancaster, Pa., Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004.
He was an avid fisherman and had worked in security before becoming disabled.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Carper; a son, Shawn Carper and a stepdaughter, Katrina M. Carper, all of Lancaster; four grandchildren; and five sisters, Katherine Robinson of New Jersey, Barbara Rickards of Lewes, Anna Lynch of New Jersey, Helen Furgerson of Florida and Elda Wootten of Dover. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Mae German.
A viewing will be held Monday, Aug. 9, at 5:30 p.m., at Charles Snyder Funeral Home, 414 East King St., Lancaster. Burial will be in Redmen cemetery , Dagsboro, 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 10.081004
Robert W. Deston,

Robert W. Deston, 80, of Milton, and formerly of Hyattsville, Md., died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Harbor Healthcare, his residence since May.
Mr. Deston was born in Carbondale, Ill., the son of the late Otto W. and Anna Searcy Deston.
He was an account auditor for Catholic Charities Share Warehouse in Bladensburg, Md. for 14 years, retiring in 2003. He was retired from the University of Maryland’s maintenance department, working in the student dormitories.. He enjoyed crocheting. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1942 to 1945 during World War II as a private first class. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores Koch Deston; a son, Robert L. Deston of Portland, Tenn.; a daughter, Linda M. Deston of Milton; two sisters, Esther Sager of Strongsville, Ohio and Mary Thompson of Nashville, Tenn.; and a granddaughter, Amy Lynn Deston of Portland, Tenn.
Services were held at Eagles Nest Fellowship Church, Milton, with burial private.
Margaret W. Short,
charter lodge member
Margaret W. Short, 94, of Wilmington and formerly of Georgetown, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Brandywine Nursing Center in Wilmington, where she had been a resident for six days.
Mrs. Short was born in Frankford to the late John Edwin and Annie Williams Wilson. She had resided most of her life in Georgetown, until moving to her daughter’s home in Wilmington in 1997.
She retired from the Stockley Center in Georgetown, where she had worked in the Canteen for several years. She had been a receptionist for Dr. VanValkenburgh and a telephone operator for Bell Telephone, now Verizon, for eight years. She was a charter member of the Mary Rebekah Lodge 15, a member of the Eastern Star 9 and a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, all in Georgetown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, in 1977.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and James McGhie of Wilmington; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack W. and Pat Short of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Margaret Ann McGhie, James McGhie Jr., Michael D. Short and Stephen W. Short; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Short Funeral Services, Georgetown, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Burial will be in Union cemetery , Georgetown.

Constance P. Brinkley
Dolle’s matriarch
Constance Pachides Brinkley, 86, of Rehoboth Beach, passed peacefully away Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. Connie was the eldest daughter of Thomas and Theo Pachides who immigrated to the United States from Galatini, Macedonia, Greece. She was born March 9, 1918 in Philadelphia, Pa. She spent her early childhood in Philadelphia, then moved to Rehoboth Beach in 1926 with her family, who were cofounders of Dolle’s Candyland. Her husband Lemuel Binkley, whom she married in December 1952, preceeded her in death in 1986.
Connie was a graduate of the Rehoboth High School and Pierce Business College. She operated Connie’s, a Rehoboth luncheonette and candy store for many years, and a bathhouse on the Rehoboth Bordwalk, eventually closing them in the late 1970s. She devoted the remainder of her time to the operation of Dolles, until her retirement in 1996. In her younger years, Connie enjoyed sports and was an avid surf-fisherman. She also enjoyed painting and traveling.
She is survived by two sisters, Alexandra P. Ibach of Wilmington, and Helen P. Holmgren of Rehoboth Beach; two nieces, Signe Murray of Rehoboth Beach and Carol Straus of Richmond, Va.; one nephew, Thomas Ibach of Rehoboth Beach and seven great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at All Saints cemetery , Angola.

Hattie Brolle Crane, 90, of Rehoboth Beach, died Friday Aug. 6, 2004, at home.
Mrs. Crane was born on Staten Island, N.Y. to the late Elizabeth and Hugo Brolle. She had resided in Dover and Wilmington where she had raised her family until her retirement to Rehoboth Beach in 1975, at which time she started Browseabout Shops. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold T. Crane in 1995; her brothers Alfred, Walter and Charles Brolle; her sister Elizabeth Myers; son-in-law Jack Geiger in 1998; and a beloved niece, Candace Anderson Waldrop on Aug. 5, 2004.
She is survived by a son, Steve Crane of Rehoboth; a daughter, Sandra Geiger of Raleigh, N.C.; three grandchildren, Stephen Crane, Stephen Geiger and Stephanie Sobol; one step-grandson, William Stevens; five great-grandchildren, Casey, Matthew, Natalie, Kendall, Pierce; a step great-granddaughter, Sarah; and one sister, Ellen, and her husband Murray; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her indispensable friend, Daisy Williamson. Services and burial will be private.
Tillie Cunningham,

Tillie “Tekla” Cunningham, 89, of Wilmington, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, in St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington.
Mrs. Cunningham was a homemaker and a silk spinner for Delaware Rayon. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Wilmington and a member of its Altar Society and Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. She was also a member of the Graham Senior Center. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and the Phillies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence F. Cunningham, who died in 1975; her sons, Francis Cunningham, who died in 1986 and Lawrence Cunningham, who died in 1954.
She is survived by her son, Walter Cunningham, and his wife Patricia of Wilmington; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Nilda Cunningham of Rehoboth Beach.
Services were held at St. Ann’s Church, Wilmington, with burial in Cathedral cemetery.

Brandon M.W. Hastings,
2003 All-Star Youth
Brandon Michael Wagamon Hastings, 19, of Milford, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2004, in A.I. du Pont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington. Mr. Hastings was born May 26, 1985, the son of Mark Steven and Dawn Wagamon Hastings of Milford. He graduated from Milford High School in 2003. He was a four-year member of the Milford High swim team and was elected captain in his senior year. He was active in Milford Little League for seven years, and then helped his dad coach. He was a student at the University of Delaware in Georgetown and worked at Medings Seafood. Mr. Hastings was a member of Lincoln United Methodist Church in Lincoln. He was named All-Star Youth at the Delaware State Fair in 2003. He was involved in the Chesapeake Christmas Emmaus Community and served as youth chairman for the Relay for Life Team. He was a member of the 4-H club and the Houston Cardinals.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Jordan Hastings and Seth Hastings; his maternal grandparents, Eric and Stephanie Daniel of Milford and Jack and Karen Wagamon of Wilson, N.C.; his maternal great-grandmother, Charlotte Wagner of Milford; his paternal grandparents, Harvey and Louise Hastings of Milford; his paternal great-grandmother, Margie Smith of Milford and Dana Saxon of Milford; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
Services were held Lincoln United Methodist Church, Lincoln, with burial in Milford Community cemetery , Milford.
Joseph A. Czajkowski,

Joseph A. Czajkowski, 82 of Rehoboth Beach, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died Sunday August 8, 2004, after a long illness at Lewes Convalescent Center. His long and dedicated career in the federal government included serving under R. Sargent Shriver to establish the Peace Corps in 1962. While at the Deptartment of Housing and Urban Development he implemented innovative on site daycare and disability facililties. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Agnes M. Nemec Czajkowski; four loving children; five beloved grandchildren; four sisters and one brother; and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday August 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Edmond’s Catholic Church, King Charles Avenue and Laurel street, Rehoboth Beach, where friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Delaware Veterans cemetery

Lambert R. Seemans,

Lambert “Lum” Ratledge Seemans, 84, of Rehoboth Beach, and Murfreesboro, Tenn. passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, in Murfreesboro.
He was the son of the late Harry Seemans and the late Fannie Maybrey Seemans of Odessa. A native of Delaware, he resided with his son Ray, in Murfreesboro.
“Lum” graduated from Middletown High School and The Perkiomen School in Pennsylvania. He served in World War II and the Korean War as a first class petty officer. He worked in sales for many years and was the founder of Guardian Fence Company. After retiring to Rehoboth Beach he went to work as a real estate broker. “Lum” enjoyed reading, sailing, drawing and spending time with his grandchildren. He attended World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro.
He is survived by his wife Betty B. Seemans of Rehoboth Beach; three sons, David L. and his wife Ruth Ann of Blackbird, Harry T. and his wife Linda of Bozman, Md., and Ray B. and his wife Emmie of Murfreesboro; two stepchildren, Jeffrey W. Seemans and his wife Pam, and Beverly B. Seemans of Marshalton; four grandchildren, David, Dale, Christiie and Katie; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Edith Blood, who died in 1988.
A memorial service will be held at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. Burial will be private.

Mary McDowell Carey,

Mary McDowell Carey, 73, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at Lofland Life Care Center in Seaford.
She was born on January 12, 1931, in Bridgeville, to the late Zacurius McDowell and Helen Williamson McDowell and graduated from Bridgeville High School in 1949. She was a bus contractor for 20 years, retiring in 1994. She also served as a senate attache from 1978 until 1984. She had belonged to the Atlanta Homemakers, the Democratic Committee of Women, and the Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville.
Mrs. Carey was predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Carey Sr., in 1995 and is survived by her daughters, Donna Mowbray of Seaford, Cindy Irwin of Maryland and Kathy Keidel of Delmar; her sons, Robert C. Carey Jr. and William Carey Sr., both of Bridgeville; and her brother, Albert McDowell also of Bridgeville; 9 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m., with visitation at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows cemetery , in Seaford. Joyce M. Dickerson,

Joyce M. Dickerson, 69, of Georgetown, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at home.
Mrs. Dickerson was born Oct. 23, 1934, in Millsboro, the daughter of the late Fred and Nettie Megee Eather.
She worked as a certified nursing assistant for 36 years at Millsboro Nursing Home, now Green Valley Terrace, in Millsboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, John W. Dickerson Jr. in 1995; a son, John Wayne Dickerson; and a brother, Roland McCabe.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, W. Michael and Jayne Dickerson of Georgetown; a daughter and her companion, Karen M. Widen and Gregory M. Mitchell of Millsboro; two sisters, Norma Lofland and Beatrice Pearson, both of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Kacee Widen, Tyler Dickerson, Jordan Dickerson and Jason Dickerson; and a great-granddaughter, Kailey Johnson.
Services were held at Watson Funeral Home, with burial in St. John’s Church cemetery , Georgetown.

Robert C. Fulkersin,

Robert C. Fulkersin, 64, of Millsboro and formerly of Upland, Pa., died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at home after a long illness.
Mr. Fulkersin was born Oct. 12, 1939 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., to the late Abram and Margaret Cassidy Fulkersin. He was a multicraft mechanic and welder for Citi Steel in Claymont, retiring in 1999. He was a Vietnam-era veteran of the U.S. Army, and was a member of American Legion Post 28 in Oak Orchard. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Upland Fire Company, Upland, Pa.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 41 years, Ruth Ann Fulkersin; his sister, Carol DeShullo of Millsboro; his brother, Donald of Ridley Park, Pa.; sister-in-law Judith McLaughlin of Upland; brother-in-law William T. Kandravi of Millsboro; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held at the Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, and burial with honors was held in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery , near Millsboro.
