Marie M. Brumbley, 85, of Dagsboro, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at home.
Mrs. Brumbley was born May 29, 1920, in Laurel, to the late Isaac and Leona Dize.
She was a homemaker and a member of Dagsboro Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Athelene H. “Blue” Brumbley in 1991; her son, Kenneth R. Brumbley, in 1994; and her granddaughter, Stacy Brumbley, in 1991.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia B. Ennis; three granddaughters, Diana Goodwin, Sherry Magee and Leah Messina; and five great-grandchildren, Derrick Godwin, David Godwin, Dayton Magee, Jeremy Magee and Makenna Messina.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Thatcher Street, Frankford, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Burial will be held in the Dagsboro Redmens Memorial cemetery , Dagsboro.

Hilda Mae Marvel,
ret. school bus driver
Hilda Mae Marvel, 88, of Ocean View, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md.
Mrs. Marvel was born in Williamsville, the daughter of the late Archie Frank Savage and Gretchen Wainwright Savage.
She was a retired school bus driver with the Indian River School District, with 28 years of service.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Elwood F. Marvel; a son, Eddie Marvel and his wife Nancy; a brother, Orvil “Doc” Savage; three sisters, Viola Clark, Myrtle Hitchens and Irma Timmons; seven grandchildren, Glen Marvel and his wife Duane, Vickie O’Hare and her husband Tim, John Marvel, and his wife Lisa, Becky Littleton, Emily Hickman, Sherry Littleton, Billie Jo Littleton; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Nicole Marvel.
Services were held at Melson Funeral Services, Frankford, with burial in Dagsboro Redmens Memorial cemetery.

Arno H. Nehrling Jr.,
retired DuPont director
Arno Herbert Nehrling Jr., 77, of Cockeysville, Md., and formerly of Lewes, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, after a brief illness at Stella Maris Hospice in Cockeysville, Md. He moved to Mercy Ridge in Cockeysville from Shipcarpenter Square in Lewes in May.
Mr. Nehrling was the son of horticulturist and Cornell University professor A. Herbert Nehrling and the grandson of Henry Nehrling, renowned German-born botanist who conducted groundbreaking research on caladiums and other tropical plants in Gotha, Fla.
Born in Richmond, Ind., in 1928, Mr. Nehrling was raised in Needham, Mass., where he attended Needham High School in 1946. He graduated from Cornell University in 1950 and earned his master’s in business administration from the Harvard Business School in 1955.
A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he served for two and half years as an officer on the light cruiser USS Manchester, known affectionately to its officers and crew as The Mighty Man.
Mr. Nehrling joined the E.I. DuPont Company in 1955 as an accountant and held positions in credit, financial analysis, accounting and pension funds. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, he served as director of finance for DuPont’s foreign subsidiaries in Germany and Mexico. He retired in 1990 as the director of employee compensation and benefits division.
Mr. Nehrling served as a member of the Delaware State Pension Fund Investment Committee, the Delaware Health Resources Board, the Delaware Health Care Commission and other boards in the benefits area. In his retirement, he remained active on many of the boards on which he served. He was listed in “Who’s Who in Finance and Industry,” “Who’s Who in the East” and Who’s Who in the World.”
Known as “Herb” to his family and friends, Mr. Nehrling was an avid golfer who held memberships in the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington and Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth. He was also an active philanthropist, who donated regularly to more than 40 charities in addition to his alma maters and church groups.
Mr. Nehrling is survived by his wife, the former Mary Helen Mudd of Bryantown, Md.; two daughters, Amy N. Belz and Dorothy N. Murphy, both of Lutherville; and seven grandchildren, Mary Eleanor Belz, Grace N. Belz, Claire C. Belz, John T. Belz, James R. Murphy, Henry F. Murphy and Anne L. Murphy.
A private service was held in Bryantown.

Marylou Bruggeman

Marylou (Bittner) Bruggeman, 77, of Lewes, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at home.
Mrs. Bruggeman was born March 17, 1928, in Cumberland, Md., daughter of the late Rudolph and Wilmata (Carswell) Bittner.
Mrs. Bruggeman moved to Delaware about 25 years ago. Up until eight years ago, she was employed as a secretary at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club. Prior to moving to Delaware, she worked as an executive secretary to the president of Price Modern Stationery & Furniture Company in Baltimore. In her spare time, Mrs. Bruggeman enjoyed traveling on cruise ships and working on her needlepoint.
She is survived by her husband of almost 34 years, Emerson Bruggeman; three sons, Richard Beaumont of Rehoboth Beach, Robert Beaumont and his wife Nancy of Indian Rock, Fla., and Russell Beaumont and his wife Carla of Millersville, Md.; and two grandchildren, Rachel and Ryley Beaumont, both of Millersville.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, at The Plantations clubhouse, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Lewes.

Merrill James Pusey,

Merrill James Pusey, 72, of Millsboro died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, in Bayhealth Medical Center-Milford Memorial Hos-pital, Milford.
Mr. Pusey was born in Millsboro.
He was a poultry supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Hudson Pusey; a son, Merrill Joe Pusey of Lewes; two daughters and a son-in-law, Desiree Iris Pusey of Long Neck and Dawn Louise and Gary Conway of Seaford; four brothers, O. Blaine Pusey of Seaford, William H. Pusey III of Millsboro, Dale Pusey of Georgetown and Donald Gehman Pusey of Frankford; two sisters, Betty Godwin of Fairfax, Va. and Gloria Pauley of Georgetown; and six grandchildren.
Services were held in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Millsboro, with burial private.

Thomas E. Short Jr., 58, of Georgetown, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, in Life Care at Lofland Park, Seaford.
Mr. Short was born in Georgetown, son of the late Thomas E. Sr. and Mildred L. Bumm Short.
He was a photographer and owner of Short’s Shots Photography of Georgetown.
He was a volunteer counselor for Delaware Hospice and worked with the Festival of Trees. He was a volunteer photographer for the Miss Delaware Pageant and named Volunteer of the Year in 2004. He was also photographer for the Indian River School District, Georgetown Little League and Lower Sussex for several years.
Mr. Short was a member, lector and Eucharistic minister at St. Michaels the Archangel Catholic Church, Georgetown. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Seaford and a past member of the Professional Photographers of Delaware.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rebecca Norwood Short; three sons, Christopher J. Short and his fiancée, Brandy Harding, both of Milton, Michael B. Short and his fiancée, Lindsay Albright, both of Georgetown and Jeffrey T. Short and his girlfriend, Rachel Nicholson, both of Georgetown; a sister, Judy Widdowson of Georgetown; a sister-in-law and her husband, Pat and Bill Strahle of Milford; two nieces and their husbands, Lisa and Wayne Adkins of Preston, Md. and Carla and Dale Whaley of Georgetown; and a nephew and his wife, Curt and Wendy Seamans of Federalsburg, Md.
Mass of Christian burial was held in St. Michaels the Archangel Catholic Church, Georgetown, with burial in Union cemetery , Georgetown.

Thelma A. (Wright) Grzybowski Magana, 77, of New Castle, passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at home, with her family at her side.
Mrs. Magana was a retired machine operator for the former St. Joseph Paper Company.
She is survived by her sons, Stanley Grzybowski Jr. and Harry Grzybowski, both of New Castle; daughters, Elaine Critelli of Newark and Kathleen Grzybowski of New Castle; a brother, Harry G. Wright Jr.; and sister, Joan Mangini, both of Lewes; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
A funeral mass was held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, New Castle, with burial in Cathedral cemetery.

Mary Louise Stein

Mary Louise Stein, 61, of Terry Apartments, passed away August 27, 2005 at Shipley Manor in Wilmington after a brief illness.
Mary was born Jan. 5, 1944 in Wilmington to Elnora L. Benson Stein and Leon Stein, Jr.
She attended P.S. duPont High School. As a young woman, she was employed by Goodwill Industries and later worked for many years in the housekeeping department of Best Western Brandywine Valley Inn until her retirement.
Mary was predeceased by her parents; and her sister, B. Joyce McLaughlin.
She is survived by her brother, E. Lee Stein of Wilmington; her sister, Lynn Cecil of Lewes; and her beloved nephews and nieces, Gordon L. McLaughlin, Steven P. McLaughlin, E. Lee Stein, Jr., Christopher L. Stein, Robert C. Cecil, Ryan C. Cecil, Susan L. Weaver and Victoria L. Stein, and their children. She is also survived by her dearest friend and beau of many years, Robert Dill.
Services were private with burial in Gracelawn Memorial Park.

Joseph S. Graziano,

Joseph S. Graziano, 72, of Long Neck, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, at Milford Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Graziano was born in Philadelphia, the son of the late Salvatore and Pauline Graziano. He was a retired data processor for AT&T and served in the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Gartley Graziano; a son, Joseph S. Graziano Jr. and his wife Dana; two sisters, Eva Marzano and her husband Tom, and Rose Layton and her husband Lee; a granddaughter, Emily; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 2, at Mary, Mother of Peace Catholic Church, Route 24 near Long Neck. Interment will be private.

Helen E. Schimler,

Helen E. Schimler, 92, of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown.
Mrs. Schimler was born Aug. 8, 1913 in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., daughter of the late George H. and Mary Elizabeth “Joel” Behrmann.
Mrs. Schimler moved to Clarksville in 1998 to live with her son and daughter-in-law. She was a member of AARP.
Mrs. Schimler was preceded in death by her husband Edwin B. Schimler Sr., whom she married in 1936 in New York State.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly A. Wissel and her husband Robert of Lincroft, NJ; her son Edwin B. Schimler Jr. and his wife Sandy of Clarksville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, at Gate of Heaven cemetery , 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, N.Y.

Ann Halverson, 88, passed away on Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at her home at the Franciscan Healthcare Center at Brackenville in Hockessin.
She will be dearly missed by her sons, Stewart L. Guenther and his wife, Sharon E., of Phillips, Wis., Rodney L. Halverson and his wife, Anna M., of Hockessin, Forrest K. Halverson of Lewes and Kirby Scott Halverson of West Grove, Pa.; her daughters, Sharon L. Vitek and her husband, Duane E. of Pewaukee, Wis. and Charlene S. Halverson of Wilmington; her sisters, Marie Nagle of Chicago, Ill. and Cecilia Wunderlin of Platteville, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin. Interment will be in All Saints cemetery , Wilmington. There will be no calling hours.
