Bruce Norman Baker,
retired from the U.S. Navy
Bruce Norman Baker, 64, of Rehoboth Beach, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.
He was born Nov. 3, 1941 in Mississippi County, Mo., son of the late Harold and Frances Caldwell Baker.
Mr. Baker retired from the Navy in 1977 as an E-7 Chief. Following his military service, he worked as a civilian with the U.S. Navy in Virginia Beach, Va. as an Aviation Supply Specialist. He loved fishing, bowling and hunting. He is survived by his devoted companion “Buzzy” Emily Logan; three sons, Daniel Baker of Elkridge, Md., Jason Baker of Virginia Beach; Ethan Baker of Charlotte, N.C.; six grandchildren; and his sister Betty Lou Johnson of Las Vegas, Nev.
All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes.
Louise Repp FitzGerald,
lab technician
Louise Repp FitzGerald passed away at home in Chalfonte Monday, Nov. 21, 2005.
She was born Aug. 29, 1908 in Dayton, Oh., the daughter of the late Dr. George E. and Henrietta Repp.
She grew up in the Wilmington area, attended the old Mt. Pleasant School and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1927. She married Malvin D. FitzGerald on April 7, 1928. Malvin predeceased Louise in 1990 after 62 years of marriage. Louise worked at Sun Oil Co. Refinery Lab as a lab technician for 28 years, retiring in 1971. She enjoyed bowling and her family and was active at Atonement Methodist Church where she was a member for over 30 years. She was also active in the Woman’s Club of Claymont.
Louise is survived by two sons, Alwyn D. at home and Frank G. and his wife, Ada Mae, of Milton. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Frank G., II and his wife, Romaine, of Lewes, Lynn and her husband, David Reese, of Clayton and David P. and his wife, Melinda, of Clayton; and six great-grandchildren, Frank Carl, Stephan Ray, David Paul, Evan Jacob, Amanda and Samantha.
Services will be private.

Frank M. Gabriel,
retired mechanic
Frank M. Gabriel, 77, of Millsboro and formerly of Vincetown, N.J., passed away at his home Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005.
He was born in Philadelphia, the son of the late Walter and Anna Walsh Gabriel. Frank was a retired maintenance and diesel mechanic and was a veteran of World War II, serving as mechanic for the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 28 of Oak Orchard and VFW Mason-Dixon Post 7234 of Quillen’s Point.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; a son, Frank, of Mays Landing, N.J.; two daughters, Denise Mascio of Mays Landing and Susan Vico of Chestertown, Md.; two sisters, Jean Gibson and June Kerstetter, both of Landsdowne, Pa.; three grandsons, Frank and Todd Gabriel and Vincent Mascio; four granddaughters, Daneille Mascio, Melissa and Tammy Gabriel, Nicole Vico; and a great-grandson, Frank Gabriel.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 27, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 28, at the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery , Millsboro.

Joan L. Schwarz,
devoted homemaker
Joan Louise Devaney Schwarz, 73, of Bethany Beach, was taken to our Lord and to her husband Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005.
She was the wonderful wife to the late Robert C. Schwarz and mother to Kim A. Schwarz McIntyre of Smyrna and Douglas C. Schwarz of Dagsboro.
Joan was a great and devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Joan was a person who gave everything she had to whatever she was involved in. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Charles and Mabel Devaney; attended Frankford High School and trained at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia and became a registered nurse.
She guided Kim and Doug through life and marriage; Doug to Carla Larkin Schwarz and Kim to G. Steven McIntyre. She also guided two grandchildren, Laura A. Schwarz and Jared D. Schwarz, both of Dagsboro, through high school and into college.
Her devotion and love to her family will be truly missed. She also found great joy in her step-great-grandson, Shayne McIntyre. She was most happy with her husband on the beach and where they now are together again.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday Nov. 22, at 2 p.m., at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel, routes. 26 and 17, Clarksville, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Burial will be Monday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m., at the Delaware Veterans cemetery , Bear.

Ruth H. Lankford,

Ruth Hennessey Lankford, 83, of Seaford, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, in the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford..
Mrs. Lankford was born in Port Penn, daughter of the late Ethel Christian and Melvin Hennessey.
She was a clerk-checker at the former A&P Store in Seaford.
Mrs. Lankford was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Seaford, Chapter 7 Order Of Eastern Star, a member of the Senior Citizens Club, member of the Ladies Auxiliary Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary Seaford Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the former Miriam Rebekah Lodge 20.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Carter Lankford in 1997.
She is survived by a son, A. Steven Lankford of Seaford; a daughter, Mary Ellen Lynch of Seaford; two stepsons, Ronald Eugene Lankford of Rehoboth Beach and Donald L. Lankford of Portsville; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wesley United Methodist Church, Atlanta Road, Seaford. The Rev. Ed Kuhling will officiate.
Burial will be private.

Ralph M. Messick, 69, of Lincoln passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, in his home..
Mr. Messick was born in Bridgeville, son of the late Norman L. and Hannah Mitchell Messick.
He was very active in the painting and contracting business that he owned and operated for 35 years.
He had been a past coach with the Milford little league.
Mr. Messick was a member of the Milford Elks Lodge 2401 and a former member of the Memorial Fire Co.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Messick and Norman Messick.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Norma Shockley Messick; six sons and five daughters-in-law, Robert and Karen Messick of Lincoln, Gary Messick of Milford, Marty and Robin Messick of Milford, Danny and Robin Messick of Lincoln, Ricky and Jan Messick of Milford and Randy and Carol Messick of Milford; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Joann and Richard Havelow of Felton and Lisa and Ron Jenkins of Lincoln; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Gardner Messick and Ernest Messick, both of Seaford and Ray Messick and Harold Messick, both of Milford; and six sisters, Marie Bertrand of Roxana, Belle Elliott of Florida, Virginia Hickman of Selbyville, Nancy Hammond of Milford, Sandra Betts of Milton and Doris Donaway of Georgetown.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Homes, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Lincoln cemetery , Lincoln.

Jane A. Kish, 71, of River Village, Millsboro, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2005, at home.
Mrs. Kish was a retired medical records librarian and a member of Mary, Mother of Peace Catholic Church near Oak Orchard.,
She is survived by her husband, Alex G. Kish; a brother, Edward Ashby; and a sister, Mary Palmer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Mary, Mother of Peace Catholic Church, followed by interment in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery

Joan Trotter,

Joan Trotter of Lewes, formerly of Toronto, Canada, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2005 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. Mrs. Trotter was born April 8, 1950 in Sneedville, Tenn., the daughter of the late Hubert Hopkins and Mrs. Vacie (Ratliff) Hopkins of Catonsville, Md.
Mrs. Trotter was loved by everyone who knew her.
She was survived by her loving husband Mark Allen Trotter of Lewes; one daughter, Shannon Trotter of Lewes; and one sister, Jean Williams of Catonsville, Md.

Esther C. Tigue,
seamstress, cook
Esther C. Tigue, 88, of ManorCare Health Services, Lancaster, Pa. died Tuesday, November 15, 2005 in the nursing center.
Formerly of Wilmington and Millsboro, Mrs. Tigue was a homemaker. She also worked part-time for the voter registration in Delaware and was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Tigue was an accomplished seamstress and loved to cook.
Born in Paoli, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Marguerite King Bloomer. Her husband, Charles A. Tigue died in 1990.
Mrs. Tigue is survived by two daughters, Margaret married to Jack Williams, and Caroline M. York, both of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sons, Charles M. married to Jean Tigue, Pennsville, N.J,, and Michael J. married to Julie Tigue, Lewes; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a brother, Frank Bloomer, West Chester; and four sisters, Adeline Gingras, Norristown, Lois Dorazio, Northeast, Md., Elizabeth Ashe, Detroit, Mich., and Carol Parke, Corpus Christi, Texas. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Bloomer, and two sisters, Frances Roberts and Helen Lewis.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the Richard A. Sheetz Funeral Home, 2024 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, Pa. from 2-3:00 p.m. Friday, No. 18, and attend a Christian Prayer Service at 3 p.m.

Harry M. Barker
retired Chrysler worker
Harry Moody Barker Sr., 80 of West Grove, Pa. died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, after a long illness with emphysema and a short battle with cancer.
He was the husband of the late Susan Marie Barker, who died in 1981. Together they shared 34 years of marriage.
Born in Lansing, N.C., he was the son of the late Arthur G. and Eula Eller Barker. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was employed by Chrysler at the Newark plant for 39 years until his retirement in 1990. Harry enjoyed playing golf, metal detecting and bowling. All who knew him will affectionately miss him.
He is survived by a son, Harry M. Barker Jr. of Wilmington; a daughter, Kathryn Morton and her husband, Gregory, of Wilmington; granddaughters and great granddaughters, Candi Barker and her daughter, Lauren, of Kennett Square, Pa., Tiffany Testa and her husband, Vincent, and their daughters, Izabella and Antonia of New Castle, and Hillary Morton and her daughters, Kayla and Victoria, of Lewes; a sister, Reva Shupe of Middletown; and his loving companion of 22 years, Maria Del Signore of West Grove, Pa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at Assumption BVM Church, 300 State Road, West Grove. Family and friends are invited to call from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Raymond B. Paterson,
retired pressman
Raymond B. Paterson, 89, of Rehoboth Beach and formerly of Bradford, Pa., died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. Since April 2004, he had resided at Brandywine Assisted Living at Seaside Pointe.
Mr. Patterson was born on Sept. 20, 1916, in Prescottville, Pa., the son of Thomas and Ethel Paterson.
Mr. Paterson was a graduate of Reynoldsville (Pa.) High School in 1934. He had worked as a pressman, retiring in 1980 from McCourt Label Company. He was a former trustee of the Bradford First United Methodist Church and board member of the Greater Bradford Senior Center. HE was a member of Bradford Masonic Lodge 749 for 52 years. Also, he was a member of AARP and taught for several years in that organization’s driver safety program. While residing in this area, his spiritual needs were graciously taken care of by the staff and members of Groome United Methodist Church, Lewes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, in March 1976.
He is survived by a son, Ronald Patterson and his wife Peggy of rehoboth Beach; his daughter, Margaret Prior and her husband John of Bradford his daughter, Sally Wakefield and her husband Phil of Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Dorothy Barron of Trenton, Mich.; a sister, Marie Bussard of Reynoldsville, Pa.; and a brother, Thomas Paterson of Punxsatawney, Pa.
Services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Bradford, with burial in Lakelawn cemetery
in Reynoldsville.
