William “Bill” Mawhinney,

William “Bill” Mawhinney, 93, of Dover, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at Courtland Manor, Dover.
Mr. Mawhinney was a native of Pittsburgh, Pa. He served in World War II as a staff sergeant in the finance department of the Army Air Force. He was stationed in England for three years and was popular there because he resembled General Eisenhower. He had a great sense of humor. After the war, he worked at the Better Business Bureau in Washington, D.C.
He and his late wife enjoyed fishing and gardening. His hobbies included furniture refinishing and painting. He was a member of the Broadkill VFW Post in Milton.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Skog Mawhinney and his older sister, Edith Dimling.
He is survived by his brother, Jack Mawhinney and his niece Georgia Longo of Pittsburgh; his sister, Ruth Frandon; his niece Marilyn and her husband Donald Taff and their son Greg of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and his cousins, Audrey and Robert Penney of Dover.
Bill will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16, in the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery , Patriots Way, Millsboro.

Scherie Lyne Bradford, 34, of Millsboro, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford.
She was the daughter of Earl and Jeanie (Fitzsimmons) Anderson.
She was a restaurant server.
Along with her parents, she is survived by her children, Virgil, Jack and Candise Bradford, all at home; two brothers, Thomas and Michael Bluestone; and a sister, Suzanne Baker.
Services were held at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck, with burial private.

Elizabeth M. Coverdale,

Elizabeth M. Coverdale, 85, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, in the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Milford, with whom she had resided for the past year.
Mrs. Coverdale was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Harbeson, daughter of the late John and Emma Jane Mitchell.
She was employed with the A.I. DuPont Co. from 1946 to 1947, and then, spent the next 57 years working alongside her late husband on the family farm in the Greenwood area. She also was a fulltime homemaker and mother.
Mrs. Coverdale loved flowers, gardening, cooking, canning her fresh vegetables and visiting with family and friends. She was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren, and a good friend to many. She will be missed dearly by all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Coverdale; a beloved son, Dennis T. Mitchell; two brothers, Preston A. Mitchell and Lester Mitchell; and a sister, Doris Wynes.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Suzanne and Richard King of Milford, and Becky C. and Lonnie Weaver of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters, Hazel Zimmerman of Milton, Bernice Rodgers of Waterford, Pa., and Gladys “Penny” Austin of Milford; a brother, John Mitchell Jr. of Harrington; and five grandchildren, Christina Tucker of Melbourne, Fla., Keith Passwaters of Greenwood, Brent Mitchell of Lincoln, and Shane Weaver and Lindsay Weaver, both of Colorado Springs; and a great-grandson, Trevor Mitchell.
Memorial services were held in Rogers Funeral Home, Milford.
Kathryn Clark Bloxom,
former bookkeeper
Kathryn “Kitty” Clark Bloxom, 74 of Millsboro and formerly of Wilmington Manor, died on Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at Christiana Hospital.
Born Jan. 29, 1931 in Wilmington, Mrs. Bloxom was a 1949 graduate of Conrad High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper for the former Park Distributing and later for Rollins Leasing, both in Wilmington.
More recently, she worked in sales for the former Bird Speakman Clothing Store in Rehoboth Beach. Before moving to Millsboro, Mrs. Bloxom had been a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Wilmington Manor Volunteer Fire Department for many years. She was a talented crafter and also enjoyed playing golf at Sussex Pines Country Club.
She is survived by her husband of more than 55 years, Graham K. Bloxom Sr.; a daughter, Patricia B. Dean and her husband, Robert L., of Fair Hill, Md.; a son, Graham K. Bloxom Jr. and his wife, Gail Ann Gadekar-Bloxom, of Newfoundland, Pa.; brother, William H. Clark of Dagsboro; three grandchildren, Liza M. Pope, Jennifer Lynn Syva and Megean E. Dean; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul T. Clark Sr.
Services were held at the Spicer-Millikin Funeral Home, with burial in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.

David W. LeGates,
systems technician
David W. Legates, 40, of Lewes, passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center.
David was born in Milford, the son of Carol Ann Brittingham LeGates of Milton and the late John W. LeGates.
David was a systems technician for Verizon and had been employed wit them for the past 17 years.
He was a graduate of Cape Henlopen High School Class of 1983 and Salisbury State University, Class of 1988, with a masters degree in business administration and a minor in psychology. While at Salisbury he played lacrosse and soccer.
David was a wonderful and loving father to his three children. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and was a member of Ducks Unlimited.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William N. Sr. and Anna Wickowski LeGates; and an uncle, William N. LeGates Jr.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Terri Moran of Lewes; three children, Danielle Marie LeGates, Marissa Nicole LeGates and Derek Charles LeGates, all of Lewes; their mother, Regina Smith LeGates; his maternal grandparents, David S. and Anna Marie Pettyjohn Brittingham of Milton; two aunts, Norma Calloway and her husband, Joe, of Milton, and Elizabeth Pepper and her husband, Tom, of Georgetown; an uncle, Clem LeGates and his wife, Christie, of Milton; several cousins; nieces; a nephew; and a host of friends.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after 6 p.m.
Burial will be private.

Norris W. Musgrove,

Norris William Musgrove, 81, of Lewes, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes.
Mr. Musgrove was born June 21, 1924 in Washington, D.C., the son of the late William Joseph and Julia Lynn English Musgrove.
Mr. Musgrove had worked as a janitorial supervisor at various medical centers. He was among the charter members of Viers Mill Baptist Church, Rockville, Md., and he was a member of the Colesville Baptist Church, Silver Spring, Md. He was devoted to his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed boating and fishing. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II.
He is survived by his wife, Blanche Ada Brunner Musgrove; his daughter, Noreen B. Koehler and her husband Paul of Lewes; five grandchildren, Melinda Moser and her husband Henry; Kenneth Koehler and his wife Nancy; Kathleen Kidd and her husband Steve; Jennifer Price and her husband Jason; and Edward Musgrove; eight great-grandchildren, David, Gannon, Billye Jo, Tiffani, Montana, Justin, Little Eddie and Jonthan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Norris “Bill” Musgrove Jr.; his daughter Rebecca Lynn Musgrove; and a great-granddaughter, Amber.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, 2 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes; Pastor Frank Goehringh will officiate.
Graveside Services with military honors will be held Monday, Nov. 21, at 1 p.m. at Union cemetery , 3001 Spencerville Road, Burtonsville, Md.; Pastor Todd Jones will officiate.

John Louis Bitzer

John Louis Bitzer, 69, of Lewes, passed away suddenly Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
He was born April 14, 1936 in Reading, Pa., son of the late Gottlob and Lillian M. (Rettberg) Bitzer.
Mr. Bitzer was a graduate of Wilson High School, West Lawn, Pa.. He entered the U.S. Air Force directly after high school and served a four-year tour of duty as a Medic in both Korea and Japan. After an honorable discharge he became a student at Roanoke College in Salem, Va. where he graduated in l962.
After college he went to work for RCA in Lancaster, Pa.. He then accepted a purchasing assignment with Kerr Glass in Lancaster, then he transferred to Keyport, N.J. and then transferred back to Lancaster where he lived and worked for l9 years. He accepted a position with Baker Refractory in York, Pa., where he worked for l5 years as a Capital Equipment Buyer before retiring.
John was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Rehoboth Beach. John was a wonderful asset to the church and used his talents on so many projects to enhance the life of the church. He was also a volunteer two mornings a week at the New Life Thrift Store and it was a job he loved and looked forward to with much enthusiasm.
John was affectionately known as “The Mayor of Pilottown” as he loved visiting with his friends and neighbors and being of service to them. Any project that someone had John was right there to pitch in and help.
John was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose 646 Lewes/Rehoboth, American Legion Post 28 Oak Orchard and the Cape Henlopen Elks 2540. He was a faithful member of the Thursday Morning Pilottown Grumpy Old Men’s Breakfast Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Vicki Weirich Richardson.
He is survived by his wife Susan Sheafer Bitzer; his daughter, Vickie Lynn Bitzer Philpot of Red Bank, N.J.; two brothers, Otto R. Bitzer and wife Charlotte of Limerick, Pa. and Fred P. Bitzer and wife Cara of Lewes; grandchildren, Kristen and Gary Philpot; step-son Richard Weirich and wife Patti of Neffsville, Pa.; and step-grandchildren Josh, Amanda and Paige Weirich of Neffsville.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, 11 a.m., at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Bay Vista Road and Route 1, Rehoboth Beach; Pastor Donald Schaefer will be officiating. Interment will be private.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

Anna M. Johnson,
former Beebe secretary
Anna M. Johnson, 65, of Frankford and formerly of Washington, D.C. and North Dakota, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at her home.
Mrs. Johnson was born Feb. 15, 1941, in Center, N.D. to Phillip and Veronica Emineth Heinz. She worked as a secretary for Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, was a buyer for Peebles Department Store and worked for JSI.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church in Ocean view and loved gardening and reading her Bible.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, William; a son, Curtis, and his wife, Cathy Johnson; two daughters, Kim Waldvogel and her husband, Perry, and Mary Serpe and her husband, Angelo; a brother, Bill, and his wife, Shelia; five sisters, Dottie and her husband Roger, Phyliss and her husband, Harland, Chris and her husband, Neil, Jackie and her husband, Derwin, and Karen; and four grandchildren, CJ, Randy, Joey and Little Serpe.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 4, at Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church, Ocean View.
Interment will be private.

Thelma C. Price,
devoted wife, mother
Thelma Conner Price, 85, of Lewes, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 15, 1919 in Townsend, daughter of the late J. Douglas and Ruby (Webber) Conner.
Mrs. Price graduated from Lewes High School in 1937. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Timothy F. Price in 2001 and by her sister Audrey Conner Rose.
She is survived by three daughters, Beverly A. Porter and her husband Herschel of Lewes, Donna Groneman and her husband Greg of Dallas, Texas, and Judith Price of New York, N.Y.; a son, Timothy Price and his wife Shirley of Georgetown; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Doug Conner of Houston, Texas.
All services are private.
