September 10, 1919-February 16, 2006
On Thursday, February 16, 2006 at the age of 86, Al went to be with the Lord at Christiana Hospital after a brief stay, due to a fall at home.
Al graduated from William Penn High School in 1939 where he was known for his basketball skills. He was an avid sports fan, and always loved to fish. His daily routine included a visit to the New Castle Wharf to discuss the events of the day with his friends, "The Senators." Al also frequented the Weston Senior Center in Wilmington Manor where he enjoyed socializing with friends and playing a good game of pool. He served his country in the US Army during WWII. Al retired in 1984 from Summit Aviation after 23 years of service. "Pop" lived happily in Olde New Castle on Dalby Place for over 50 years. His kind face and warm heart will be deeply missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell S. Bowen in 1994; daughter, Nancy A. Payton in 1988; and siblings, Wilbert, Norman, Paul, James and Marion. He is survived by his daughter, Pat Miller and her husband, Robert of New Castle; step-son, Galen Stevens and his wife, Peggy of Texas; brothers, Leslie "Les" Bowen and his wife, Mary E. and Charles "Pal" Bowen of New Castle. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, Jim Colbourne, Deborah Colbourne and Vicky Pesta, Robert Miller, Jr. and his wife, Leigh, Patrick Miller, Timothy Miller, Scott P. Payton and Michele Karpovich. His great-grandchildren, Christie Colbourne, Robert Miller III, Ann Marie Miller, Jessica Karpovich and John Karpovich III; and many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 11 am at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware St., New Castle, DE, where friends may visit with the family from 10-11 am. Burial will be in the Glebe Cemetery, New Castle, DE.

Gentris Moses Paul Bryant
Age 23, passed away February 15, 2006 in Chester-Crozer Medical Center, from injuries sustained in a car accident.
He is survived by his mother, Cheryl Bryant; father, Charles Bryant; and sister, Zina Burke. He is also survived by his loving fiancée, Rachel Imhoff; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and friends, who will all miss him dearly.
Gentris received his early education at Christ Our King School, St. Edmond's Academy, and graduated from Archmere Academy. He received a double BA in management and Spanish from Gettysburg College in May 2004. He also completed Spanish language and cultural immersion courses in Spain and Mexico. He co-captained his high school football team, was 2003 All-Conference Performer for Gettysburg College Football Team, and National Qualifier in 2004 for Gettysburg College Boxing Team. He was a star athlete throughout his academic career. Gentris was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and received scholarships from The City of Wilmington, and The America's Scholarship from MBNA 2000-2004. In the fall of 2004, he completed his professional licensing exams and joined American Express Financial Advisors, Inc. as a financial advisor. In the fall 2005, he joined JP Morgan Private Bank as an account officer for the NY region.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 24, from 6-8 pm, at CONGO FUNERAL HOME, 2317 N. Market St., Wilmington. The funeral will be 9 am Saturday, February 25. Viewing 7-9 am. Burial in Gracelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made to St Edmond's Academy, 2120 Veale Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810, for the Gentris Bryant Minority Scholarship.
Audrey Anita Roane Collins "Nita"
Age 55, of Wilmington, DE, passed on Thursday, February 16, 2006, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. Audrey was a Faithful Member of the Canaan Baptist Church and retired from DuPont Company after 34 years of service.
Daughter of Mary Blake and the late Albert Carter, Jr. Mrs. Collins is survived by her husband, David R. Collins; 1 daughter, Kimberly Collins, of Wilmington, DE; 1 son, Darnell R. Collins, of Philadelphia, PA; 1 devoted granddaughter, Shakira Collins; her brothers and sisters, Alvin R. (Robin) Roane, Ruth A. (Jerome) Garlick, Paula L. Blake, Harold W. and Anthony Blake, Wayne R. Blake, Carolyn D. Blake, Jacqueline (Benjamin) Moore, Cheryl Blake, Marvin D. Blake, Sylvia (Harold) Bridgeforth, Barbara (Robert) Francis, Albert (Anita) Carter, Cassandra Carter, and Linda (Tommy) Joyner; and a devoted grandmother who raised her, Mrs. Fannie Roane. Other survivors include a devoted aunt and friend, Iris Craighead; 2 devoted uncles, James D. (Delores) Roane, and Carol Lee Carter; 3 devoted friends, tonja Naves, Ann Wigfall and Brenda Bishop and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a viewing from 10-12 noon only on Monday, February 20, 2006, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2200 N. Claymont St., Wilmington, DE, followed by the funeral service at 12 noon. Interment will be at 10 am on Wednesday, February 22, 2006, in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.

James O. Dodson
Age 81, died on February 16, 2006.
Mr. Dodson was a mechanic for Sun Oil for 48 years retiring in 1984, he was a longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church.
Mr. Dodson was predeceased by his daughter, Joann Hamza in 2004; his 1st wife, Dorothy Curry in 1976 and his 2nd wife, Kathleen Dodson in 1989. He is survived by his brother, Earle J. Dodson of Auburndale, FL; 3 sisters, Doretha Spaulding of Valrico, FL, Ruth Johnson of Fuquay-Vasina, NC and Edith D. Realey of Willow Run; 3 grandchildren, Donald, Cammie and Ronald; 4 great grandchildren; 3 step children, Debbie, Ray and Barbara.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday February 22, 2006 at 2 pm in the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyville. Burial will be in Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery.
Roy C. Green
May 25, 1913 – February 16, 2006
Roy Chester Green, age 92, died February 16, 2005 in Newark, DE.
He was born on the family farm, at St. Francis, (Potter Co.) Texas on May 25, 1913. He grew up and worked on the farm which he maintained at the time of his death.
A graduate of Amarillo High School and valedictorian at Amarillo Junior College, he graduated The University of Texas, Austin, with a B.S. in electrical engineering in 1937.
He worked for Dallas Power & Light, and did post graduate work and taught electrical engineering at Texas A & M College, College Station, TX until World War II during which he was employed as an engineer at the Naval Ordinance Laboratory in Washington, D.C. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu.
Rev. Green graduated in 1950 from Drew Theological Seminary, Madison, N.J. and was ordained by the Newark Annual (now the Greater New Jersey) Conference of the United Methodist Church. He served churches at Rockaway Valley (1948); Jersey City (1949); Bound Brook (1953); Phillipsburg (1957); Port Jervis, N.Y. (1965) ; Verona (1968), Rutherford (1971), and Englewood-First (1977), before retiring in 1981.
He was a Rotarian for over twenty years and a member of Delaware Lodge No. 52, F. & A.M., Phillipsburg, N.J.
A member of New Castle United Methodist Church, New Castle, DE. During retirement was a student of homeopathy, and volunteered in the VISTA tax preparation program for seniors.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edythe Stafford Green, Newark, DE; 2 children, Nancy G. Wenner and her husband Mark N., State College, PA, David R. Green, Madison, NJ; 3 grandsons, Brian C. Green, Madison, NJ, Kevin A. Wenner and Gregory A. Wenner, State College, PA; and 2 nephews, Royce E. Friou of AZ and Forrest V. Friou of CA.
According to his wishes, his body was donated to the University of Delaware. A memorial service will be held at 11 am. February 25, 2006 at the New Castle United Methodist Church, 510 Delaware Street, New Castle, DE.

Lois Sperry Murray
Lois Sperry Murray passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2006. She would have been 95 in April.
Lois loved and was loved by many people from MA to DE. She was an accomplished pianist and loved to sit down at the keyboard for impromptu sing-alongs with family and friends. While spending most of her life in Bloomfield, Lois enjoyed visiting with her late husband, John, the island of Dominica in the Caribbean and Longboat Key in FL. Born in New Haven, Mrs. Murray attended Vassar College and was a graduate of the Yale School of Music. She was married to John M. Murray of Annapolis, MD and Catskill, NY. John Murray died in 1983. Lois helped start the Prosser Library in Bloomfield and for the last 20 years, lived at The Duncaster in Bloomfield, CT.
Known as Nana to her family, Lois is survived by her 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Janine Murray, of South Windsor, CT, and Jamie and Coo Murray, of Montchanin, DE; her 2 grandchildren, Jonathan Murray, of Philadelphia, PA, and Aubree Wellons, and her husband, John, of Montchanin, DE; and 1 great granddaughter, Josephine Spencer Wellons, of Montchanin, DE.

Paul M. "Bud" Allen
Age 69 of Felton, DE, died, March 21, 2006 at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital.
Born in Sandtown, DE to the late Paul and Delema Allen. Mr. Allen worked for over 25 years for General Foods driving a tractor trailer. After retiring from General Foods, he drove a truck for Perry Butler Trucking. Mr. Allen enjoyed traveling the country and seeing the different parts of America. In his spare time, he loved to listen to Bluegrass music and watch NASCAR. His favorite NASCAR driver was Dale Earnhart Sr. Mr. Allen also liked to go shopping. He was a regular at Wal-Mart, and he also enjoyed browsing local flea markets. Mr. Allen was a member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge for the past 33 years.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mariam Allen and a sister, Emogene Nichols.
