Ilene E. Jensen, 68, of Wewahitchka, Fla., went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 16, 2000, after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Algot G. Jensen. She was a loving mother, and is survived by Scarlet A. Harvell (James) of Lexington, Va., Sandra L. Husband (Jack) of Wewahitchka, James W. Jensen (Connie) of Wewahitchka, Franklin H. Jensen (Cheryl) of Port Richey, Fla. and Walter E. Jensen (Teresa) of Panama City; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at Dalkeith Baptist Church on Thursday, May 18, at 1 p.m. CDT with the Rev. Johnny Newton officiating. Interment will follow in Buckhorn Cemetery. Visitation will be held this evening, May 17, at Comforter Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. CDT.

Infant Nathan Alan Nelson, 11 days old, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at a local hospital. He is survived by his parents, Pat and Betsy Nelson of Panama City; a sister, Kate Nelson of Panama City; maternal grandparents, Al and Kathy Kidd of Panama City; and paternal grandparents, Jack and Penny Nelson of Panama City. A funeral mass will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, May 18, at St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Marty Bratek officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will be staying at the home of Al and Kathy Kidd, 729 Brandeis Ave., Panama City, FL.

Mrs. Vera Mae Porter, age 73, of 1002 W. 12th Court, Panama City, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at a local nursing facility. She had been a lifetime resident of the area and was Protestant by faith. Mrs. Porter worked for Gardner's Drug Store before she retired. She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Scott and her husband Mike of Youngstown and Kay Fowler and her husband Darryl of Southport; grandchildren, James Fowler, Nora Fowler, Allen Scott, Joseph Scott and Tonia Thomas; great-grandchildren, Desiree Thomas, Rachel Thomas, Amanda Wilson and Kacey Sizemore; a brother, Jeff Ferguson and his wife Louise of Panama City Beach; special friend, George Johnson of Panama City; a sister-in-law, Frances Lewis and her husband Leamon; and brothers-in-law, Malachi Porter and his wife Jean of Louisiana and D. W. Porter and his wife Sharlie of Lake Placid. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Porter; father and mother, Alex and Ada Ferguson; a sister, Ethel Ferguson; and a brother, Howard Ferguson. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 18, at Callaway Cemetery with the Rev. Ron L'hullier officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, May 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will be staying at 1002 W. 12th Court, Panama City, FL.

Carole Inez Quick, 59, of Norcross, Ga., formerly of Bay County, Fla., died May 15, 2000. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 17, at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home in Norcross with the Rev. Phil Underwood officiating. Interment will follow at North Atlanta Memorial Park in Doraville, Ga. Mrs. Quick was a retired government worker with Bay County and a member of the Order of Eastern Star Pythagoras Lodge No. 305. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Phillips Sr. Survivors include her husband, Don Quick of Panama City; two sons, Charles Wood of Norcross, Ga., and Keith Wood of Duluth, Ga.; daughter, Margie Hayes of Duluth; mother, Ann Phillips of Atlanta; brother, Robert L. Phillips Jr. of Chamblee; sister, Marie Underwood of Snellville; seven grandchildren, Jason Edward Wood, Christopher George Wood, Morgan Elizabeth Wood, Lannie Justin Armbrust, Natalie Kristen Armbrust, Michael Keith Wood and Samantha Ann Wood; nephew, Phil Underwood; and great nieces and nephews. Carter of Panama City and Lottie Jean Moore of Bayou George; three brothers, Millard Walters and Howard Walters, both of Sunny Hills and Alex Walters of Youngstown. She was preceded in death by her father, George Walters and her mother, Ollie Walters. Mr. Thomas Leroy Maultsby, 55, of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, May 13, at his home. He was retired from Southern Bell/AT&T and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Maultsby is survived by his wife, Mary Lois Maultsby; one son, Gregory Stephen Anderson; one daughter, Teresa Nelson and husband James Jr., all of Panama City; numerous special grandchildren and four very special friends (the six musketeers). A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, May 18, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Terrill Nelson officiating. OFIE PERKINS
Mr. Ofie Perkins, age 80, of 141 Cindy Lane, Panama City Beach, Fla., went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1987, coming here from Baltimore, Md. Mr. Perkins served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in France. He enlisted as a private and was discharged as a captain. Mr. Perkins received the Silver Star and received a battlefield commission. He was a member of VFW (Inlet Beach), American Legion in Maryland, the Moose Lodge and a member of AARP. He was also a member of Gulfview United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed many church activities. Mr. Perkins is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Perkins of Panama City Beach; a son, Roger Perkins and his wife Patricia of Newport, R.I.; a daughter, Cheryl Hill of Jonesboro, Ga.; grandchildren, Michael Perkins of Jacksonville, Jeffrey Perkins of Odessa, Texas, Shaunda Boucugnani and her husband David of Bogart, Ga., and Keith Hill and Tara Hill, both of Jonesboro, Ga.; a great-grandchild, Alexis Boucugnani; a sister, Bonnie Elizabeth Johnston of Mineral Wells, W. Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 19, at Gulfview United Methodist Church with the Rev Si Mathison and the Rev. Jim Fillingim officiating. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories with military honors. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: David Boucugnani, Ferrel Pinson, Bobby Henson, Jack Patterson, Charles Evans Jr. and Herbert Letlow.
