Master Adam Barry Sanders, 12, of Youngstown, Fla., died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at his home. Adam is survived by his foster parents, Mary and Michael Steele; foster brother, Michael Steele Jr.; and foster sister, Michelle Steele, all of Youngstown. Graveside funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. in Lynn Haven Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Daniel officiating.

DAVID SMITH JR.
A Godly life ended May 14, 2000, when David Smith Jr. (Buddy) was taken from us. We know that he is at rest with our heavenly father. He was born Sept. 19, 1955, to David Sr. and the late Corine Smith, in Port St. Joe. He attended public school in Gulf County, where he lived for most of his life except when he spent two years in the United States Army, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He leaves to mourn a devoted father, David Smith Sr.; and equally devoted stepmother, Hattie B.; four sisters, Pearlie Young (Nathaniel) of Titusville, Cherry Smith of Titusville, Dorothy Moton and Mary Jones of Cleveland, Ohio; a special (brother) and nephew, Desmond Quinn of Tampa; a stepsister, Velma Harris (Willie) of Miami; stepbrother, Gary Hall of Portland, Ore.; a special friend, Linda Lewis of Port St. Joe; and a host of loving and caring nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 20, at 3 p.m. EDT at Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. O.H. Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. He will lie in state at the church Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.

EUNICE IRENE WHALEY
Ms. Eunice Irene Whaley, age 72, of 924 W. 13th St., Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at a local nursing facility. She had been a resident of the area for most of her life, coming here from Bonifay, Fla., and was Protestant by faith. Mrs. Whaley is survived by her son, R.W. (Dickie) Westerly and his wife Debbie of Panama City; three grandchildren, Melissa (Missy) Westerly, Lucy Westerly, and Chip Westerly; her stepmother, Ella J. Railey of Panama City; brothers, Shirlin E. Railey and his wife Evelyn and Joseph E. Railey Jr. and his wife Joyce, all of Panama City; sisters, Ann Bragdon of Tallahassee, Mary Franks of Dallas, Evelyn Saunier and her husband Dwight of San Antonio, Carolyn Baker and her husband Dan and Jewell Heller and her husband John, all of Panama City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph E. Railey Sr. and Florida Arizona Railey. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 19, at Millville Cemetery with the Rev. James Raley officiating. Interment will follow. Honorary pallbearers will include Mrs. Whaley's nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will include: Alvin Stanley, Jason Stanley, Billy Johnson, Joe Davenport, Kenneth Heller, and Justin Railey. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, May 18, from 6 to 8 p.m.

ERNEST E. (TENCY) CLANTON
Mr. Ernest E. (Tency) Clanton, age 76, of 622 Kraft Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a lifetime resident of the area and was an avid union member. He was a member of the Local No. 229 Pipefitters Union. He helped to build and was a charter member of Life and Praise Assembly of God Church and was a member of Joy Makers Sunday School Class. Mr. Clanton was a jack of all trades - there wasn't much he couldn't do. He loved to work in his vegetable garden and loved to fish. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Clanton of Panama City; three sons: Joseph Ronnie Clanton, Michael S. Clanton and his wife Pamela, and Ernest E. Clanton Jr. and his wife Christy, all of Panama City, Fla.; and four grandchildren: Corinna Clanton, Tiffaney M. Clanton, Lisa A. Clanton and Ernest Aubrey Clanton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wiley T. Davis and the Rev. John Broom officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Billy Scott, Bert Gwaltney, Wilburn Brannon, Marvin Lee, Ernest Kent and L.Z. Pippen. Honorary pallbearers will include retired members of Local No. 229 and the Over the Hill Gang. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, May 19, from 6 to 8 p.m.

MARY E. FAILE
Mrs. Mary E. Faile, age 83, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg. She was a longtime resident of Panama City and a former member of First Baptist Church of Panama City. Mrs. Faile was a volunteer Pink Lady for Bay Medical Center. She is survived by a son, John Faile of St. Petersburg; two sisters, Gertrude Burch of Panama City and Vida Chiarolanza; and two grandchildren, John L. Faile Jr. of Charleston, W.Va., and Jeffrey P. Faile of Rockledge, Fla. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at Oakland Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Price officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, May 20. Contributions may be made to a church of your choice.

ALBERT JOSEPH GAVLAK JR.
Albert Joseph Gavlak Jr., died May 14, 2000, in San Francisco, Calif. Joe was born Jan. 19, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Albert J. Sr. and Charlotte Lee Wine Gavlak. He is survived by his son, Matthew Andrew; former wife, Syliva Reeder Gavlak; brother, Capt. (USN, Ret.) Michael W. Gavlak; Mike's family; and longtime companion, Ellee DeMartini. Joe was a retired personal financial advisor, a Navy veteran, a graduate of Duke University and Southern California University; and a longtime San Francisco resident. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. today, May 19, at San Francisco's St. Dominic Catholic Church. Interment will take place in Fredricksburg, Va., at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society (local chapter) or to the Intemational Myeloma Foundation, 2129 Stanley Hill Drive, Los Angeles, Calif. 90046.

OFIE PERKINS
Mr. Ofie Perkins, age 80, of 141 Cindy Lane, Panama City Beach, Fla., went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1987, coming here from Baltimore, Md. Mr. Perkins served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in France. He enlisted as a private and was discharged as a captain. Mr. Perkins received the Silver Star and received a battlefield commission. He was a member of the VFW (Inlet Beach), American Legion in Maryland, the Moose Lodge, and a member of AARP. He was also a member of Gulfview United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed many church activities. Mr. Perkins is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Perkins of Panama City Beach; a son, Roger Perkins and his wife Patricia of Newport, R.I.; a daughter, Cheryl Hill of Jonesboro, Ga.; grandchildren: Michael Perkins of Jacksonville, Fla., Jeffrey Perkins of Odessa, Texas, Shaunda Boucugnani and her husband David of Bogart, Ga., and Keith Hill and Tara Hill, both of Jonesboro, Ga.; a great-grandchild, Alexis Boucugnani; a sister, Bonnie Elizabeth Johnston of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, May 19, at Gulfview United Methodist Church with the Rev. Si Mathison and the Rev. Jim Fillingim officiating. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories with military honors. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: David Boucugnani, Ferrel Pinson, Bobby Henson, Jack Patterson, Charles Evans Jr. and Herbert Letlow. Honorary pallbearers will include Lynn Sellers, Sam Reedy, Gordon Simmons, O.B. WALLACE WILBURN RUSS
Wallace Wilbrun (Tobe) Russ, age 71, of Vernon, Fla., passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2000, as a result of an automobile accident. Mr. Russ was a lifelong resident of Vernon. He was of the Holiness faith and a member of Vernon Evangelistic Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 20, at 10 a.m. at Vernon Evangelistic Church with the Rev. Juno Douglas, the Rev. Roy Doulgas and the Rev. Willis Hagan officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Evangelistic Church Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends today, May 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wachob Chapel in Chipley. Survivors are his fiancee, Mary Cholerton of Vernon; special friend, Nathan Smith of Vernon; one sister, Geraldine Moore of Vernon; two nieces, Nancy Skipper of Winter Haven and Mary Gipson of Winter Haven; one nephew, Larry Moore of Columbus, N.C.

RICHARD ALLEN WEATHERS
Mr. Richard Allen Weathers, age 35, of Panama City, died Wednesday at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City. Mr. Weathers was born in Blountstown and was a welder and pipe fitter and a member of Sunny Hills Assembly of God Church in Sunny Hills. Survivors include one daughter, Alexis Weathers of Panama City; his father, Bobby Gene Weathers of Panama City; his mother, Betty Lou Paul of Chipley; one brother, Bobby Gene Weathers Jr. of Panama City; one sister, Debora Lou Weathers of Chipley; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. EDT Saturday at Bristol Assembly of God. Interment will follow in Lake Mystic Cemetery in Bristol.

SARAH COCO BROCATO
Sarah Coco Brocato, 95, of Helena, Ark., went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 6, 2000. Sarah was the oldest of eight children, born to the late Charles Sr. and Josephine Danna Coco, who were among the first settlers of Helena coming from Cefalu, Italy. She had five children, who loved her dearly, two of which have preceded her in death. Sarah was a devout and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Helena. She is survived by three daughters: Clarene Guercio of Natchez, Miss., Celeste Saile of Pascagoula, Miss., and Paula Baker of Panama City Beach; one sister, Marguerite Guercio of Natchez; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Sarah was buried beside her late husband, Samuel Brocato, at Catholic Cemetery in Helena, Ark. on May 9, 2000.
