ERNEST E. (TENCY) CLANTON
Mr. Ernest E. (Tency) Clanton, age 76, of 622 Kraft Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a lifetime resident of the area and was an avid union member. He was a member of the Local No. 229 Pipefitters Union. He helped to build and was a charter member of Life and Praise Assembly of God Church and was a member of Joy Makers Sunday School Class. Mr. Clanton was a jack of all trades - there wasn't much he couldn't do. He loved to work in his vegetable garden and loved to fish. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Clanton of Panama City; three sons: Joseph Ronnie Clanton, Michael S. Clanton and his wife Pamela, and Ernest E. Clayton Jr. and his wife Christy, all of Panama City; and four grandchildren: Corinna Clanton, Tiffaney M. Clanton, Lisa A. Clanton and Ernest Aubrey Clanton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, May 20, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wiley T. Davis and the Rev. John Broom officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Billy Scott, Bert Gwaltney, Wilburn Brannon, Marvin Lee, Ernest Kent, and L.Z. Pippen. Honorary pallbearers will include retired members of Local No. 229 and the Over the Hill Gang.

LOWELL McKINNEY FINCH
Lowell McKinney Finch, age 67, of Chipley, Fla., passed away Thursday, May 18, 2000, at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Fla. He was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 21, at 3 p.m. at Wachob Chapel with the Rev. Dallas Pettis officiating. Burial will follow in Hard Labor Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 20, at Wachob Chapel. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John Leonard and Elizabeth Finch, and a son. Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Finch of Chipley; two sons, Kenny Finch of Chipley, Sonny Finch of Melbourne; three daughters: Libby Taylor of Bonifay, Carol Griffin of Chipley, Sara Taylor of Bonifay; special granddaughter, Ashley Pettis of Sneads; four brothers, Less Finch of Tallahassee, Barney Finch of Homerville, Ga., Lincoln Finch of Chipley, Nolan Finch of Chipley; one sister, Annie Lois Long of Edgewater, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.

ROLAND ROBERT HEYN
Mr. Roland Robert Heyn, 69, of Fountain, Fla., died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at his home. He was born in Germany and was a line supervisor for Ford Motor Company. Graveside funeral services were held yesterday, May 19, at 2 p.m. in Fountain Cemetery with the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating.

LAURIE LYNN WARD
Laurie Lynn Ward, 39, of Panama City, died at Bay Medical Center Thursday night, May 18, 2000. She was a native of St. Louis, Mo., a self-employed distributor for grocery products and a member of First United Methodist Church of Marianna. Laurie is survived by her loving husband, Michael Ward of Panama City; her loving parents, Barbara and George Simmons of Marianna; her father, David Frank Jeffe of St. Louis, Mo.; four precious children: two sons and two daughters, Peter Herbert Petronaci of Caldwell, N.J., Jason Sugars of Tallahassee, Jessica Ann Petronaci of Tallahassee, and Amanda Jean Sugars of Panama City; one brother, Scott David Jeffe of Novi, Mich.; one sister, Christine Jeffe Leonard of St. Louis, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at First United Methodist Church of Marianna with Dr. Frank Hyles officiating. Burial will follow in Dead River Cemetery on State 81 between Bruce and Red Bay, Fla., with Lord Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at Lord Funeral Home today, May 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to a college fund for her children. Checks may be given to First United Methodist Church designating the L. Ward Fund.

MARY ANN BARFIELD
Mrs. Mary Ann Barfield, age 87, of 7242 Bay Crest Road, Panama City, Fla., passed away Friday, May 19, 2000, in a local nursing home. Mrs. Barfield has been a resident of Bay County since 1959 after her husband retired from the U.S. Army. She was of the Methodist faith, was a homemaker, was Canadian born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, enjoyed nature, flowers and trees. Mrs. Barfield is survived by her husband of 54 years, Mr. Elwood M. Barfield of Panama City, Fla.; a son, Mr. Douglas J. Barfield of Hudson, Fla.; three grandchildren, Bradley of San Diego, Calif., Aaron of Hawaii, and Brenda of Omaha, Neb.; and a sister, Mrs. Lee Johnson of Alberta, Canada. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2000, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. R.C. Warren officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. today, May 21, 2000. If you wish, contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida.

JAMES LOWERY CORDELL SR.
Mr. James Lowery Cordell Sr., 52, of Mexico Beach, died Friday, May 19, 2000, in Bay Medical Center. Born in Marietta, Ga., he moved here in 1987 from Georgia. He was a retired paint contractor and was Protestant by faith. Mr. Cordell was a veteran of Vietnam serving in the U.S. Army and was an avid fisherman. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Howard Cordell and two sisters, Cathy and Patty Cordell. Mr. Cordell is survived by one son, James Lowery Cordell Jr., of Mexico Beach; mother, Betty Lowery Cordell Davenport of Port St. Joe; loving friend and companion, Belinda L. Durham of Mexico Beach; stepchildren, Tony Henry, Tanyge Henry, Robin Haynes of Kennesaw, Ga. Visitation will be held today at the funeral home at 2 p.m. EDT. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at 3 p.m. EDT in the Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, Ga. Interment will follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park.

JOSEPH MICHAEL GIVENS
Mr. Joseph Michael Givens, 60, of 700 Sheffield Ave. in Panama City, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2000, at his home. Mr. Givens had been a resident of Bay County since 1956, after coming here from Mobile, Ala., and was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Givens is survived by two daughters, Jessica Maria Givens of Panama City and Melissa Givens Owens of Louisiana; two sons, Michael Joseph Givens of Birmingham, Ala., and John P. Givens of Louisiana; six grandchildren; two sisters, Cathren M. Kilpatrick and Ruth Ann Garwitz, both Panama City. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at Callaway Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Bobby Thompson officiating.

HENRY ANGUS MCKINNON KNOWLES
Henry Angus McKinnon Knowles, M.D., 74, of Chipley, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2000, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala. Dr. Knowles had been a resident of Chipley since 1974 after coming from Marianna. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a member of the Elks Club in Marianna, Falling Water Country Club in Chipley, the American Abdominal Surgery Board and the American Medical Association. Dr. Knowles was on staff at the Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley. He was a practicing physician in Chipley, Marianna and Blountstown for 41 years. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Wachob Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Rowan and the Rev. Lou Fortier officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends today, May 22, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Wachob Chapel in Chipley. A son, Hugh Knowles, preceded Dr. Knowles in death. Survivors are wife, Gloria Knowles of Chipley; two sons, Henry Angus McKinnon Knowles Jr. of New Port Richey, Fla., and Tim Knowles of Lawrenceville, Ga.; daughter, Tammy Glaze of Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Elizabeth Currie of Acworth, Ga.; and three grandchildren.

CLETTUS A. WARREN
Mr. Clettus A. Warren, 71, of 5114-A Lance St. in Parker, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2000, at a local hospital. Mr. Warren had been a resident of Bay County since 1971 after retiring from Blaine Air Force Station in Washington State. He loved bowling, was a member of the VFW Post No. 8205 of Parker, the AMVETS Post No. 231 of Fountain, the Retired Enlisted Man Association and the Air Force Sergeant Association. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and received the Commendation Medal, and after retiring as Technical Sergeant, he worked in construction for 18 years for the J.B. Jinks Regency Builders and the Letton Development. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Warren is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carol Warren of Parker; two sons, Mr. Terry A. Warren and wife Diane of Panama City, and Senior Sgt. Gary L. Warren of Crestview, Fla.; three grandchildren, Eric, Derek and David; four great-grandchildren, Kyla, Nesa, Tara and Tiffaine; two sisters, Beaulah Sowry and Reba Dorrine Whysong and husband Harry, all of Ashtabula, Ohio; a brother, Clayton Warren and wife Elaine of Ashtabula. Mr. Warren was preceded in death by a son, Pfc. Thomas A. Warren, U.S. Army. Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2000, at the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with full military Honors conducted by the Tyndall Air Force Base Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 24.

Mrs. Doris Burnharn, age 75, of Tallahassee, Fla., died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at her residence. She was a native of Walton County and lived in Panama City for 25 years, before moving to Tallahassee. Mrs. Burnham was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She is survived by a son, Robert "Ted" Davis and his wife Gail of Tallahassee; a daughter, Connie J. Morgan and her husband J.P. of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren: Casey Reiter, Chad Morgan, Jonathan Morgan, Katie Morgan, Kelly Morgan and Lee Davis; and great-grandchildren,Tyler Reiter, Jessica Morgan, Erin Morgan and Austin Reiter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pasco W. Burnham. Graveside funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home, today, May 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL, 32308.

LAURA OWENS RICHARDSON DEVERS
On Sunday, May 21, 2000, Laura Owens Richardson Devers passed away. The daughter of Peter Owens and Margaret Moss Smith was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Aug. 8, 1897. A widow twice in her life, Laura Devers had three children, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a great-grandchild, yet to be born. Educated in Philadelphia, Mrs. Devers as a child lived in the territory of Oklahoma prior to its statehood in 1907. In public life she rose to be a director of Democratic Women in the state of Pennsylvania. Laura Devers was a member of the secular Franciscan Order for 87 years. She was a member of both the Catholic Daughters of American and thc Internationa1 Order of ALHAMBRA. Cited for her civic, religious, and patriotic contributions, she was honored by the governors of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida. Her life was composed of love, loyalty, and the Lord. She lived through three centuries. Laura Devers is survived by a son, Capt. Edward L. Richardson, Chaplain Corp.U. S. Navy, Retired of VA, a Catholic priest; a daughter, Dolores M. Logue and her husband Anthony W. Logue of Florida; a granddaughter: Lisa C. Burns and her husband Roy Burns; and their children: Kathryn and Brenden of Florida; a grandson, Capt. Brian E. Logue, U.S. Air Force, and his wife Jean Logue of California; and granddaughter, Kathleen Laura Logue of Florida. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Clare E. Muldowney; and a grandson, Michael A. Logue. A visitation and Rosary will be held at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Panama City firom 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 23. Masses of Resurrection will be said in Virginia Beach, Va., and Brigantine, N.J. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing, N.J.
