Funeral services for Mr. Dwight Allen Cooper III, age 29, of 2317 W. 27th St., Panama City, who died Saturday, June 10, 2000, will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 14, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Parker officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

GREEN FULLER GAINER SR.
Green Fuller Gainer Sr., age 84, of Chipley, Fla., passed away Monday, June 12, 2000, in Chipley. He was a lifelong resident of Chipley. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Oakie Ridge Baptist Church. Funeral services will be today, June 14 at 2 p.m. at Wachob Chapel with the Rev. Shane Hardesty officiating. Burial will follow in Oakie Ridge Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. Mr. Gainer was preceded in death by his wife, Neomia Gainer. Survivors include two sons, Fuller Gainer Jr. and his wife June, of Chipley, Joe Dennis Gainer and wife Connie, of Chipley; two daughters, Sara Taylor and husband Houston of Panama City, Annette Nelson and husband Harold of Chipley; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

GLADYS GOODSON
Mrs. Gladys Goodson, age 81, of 104 N. Cove Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Monday, June 12, 2000, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since 1950, coming here from Hartford, Ala., and was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church. Mrs. Goodson was very devoted to and loved her family. She would do anything for them. Mrs. Goodson is survived by her son, Eric Goodson of Panama City; a daughter, Carol J. Thompson of Spring, Texas; and two grandchildren, Julie Thompson and Laura Thompson, both of Spring, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Melvin officiating. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. at Hurricane Cemetery in Hartford, Ala. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, June 16, from 6 to 9 p.m.

MARVIN HALL
Mr. Marvin Hall, U.S. Army (Ret.), of Fort Lyon, Colo., formerly of Panama City, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, as the result of an automobile accident in Colorado. Born in Marianna, Fla., he was raised in Panama City. He joined the Army as a young man to become a career soldier. He traveled to many locations worldwide and served his country in Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded with several honors including the Bronze Star and Air Metal for Meritorious Achievement and two Purple Hearts. Marvin retired in Colorado Springs and Los Animas, Colo. Mr. Hall was the father of four children, Jaquilin, Craig, Kevin and Kelly; grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of one; seven brothers and sisters, Broward, Lester, Sally, Viola, Esther, Louise and Carolyn. He was a friend to countless others. No words can express our feeling of loss and our depth of love for him. God bless you and thank you Dad. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 16, at 3 p.m., in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Steve Southerland II officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded at graveside by Fort Rucker honor guard.

CHARLES P. PELHAM JR.
Charles P. Pelham Jr., born June 19, 1913, died on May 30, 2000, at Bay Medical Center after a brief illness. Mr. Pelham was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ava Marie Halstead Pelham. Mr. and Mrs. Pelham retired ten years ago from operating Pelham's Book Store and Florida Library Service at 33 Harrison Avenue in Panama City for the past 35 years. Mr. and Mrs. Pelham moved to Panama City from Mobile, Ala. in 1955 to operate the book store owned by his father, Charles P. Pelham Sr. Mr. Pelham is survived by three nephews. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew Episcopal Church today, June 14, at 10 a.m.

JOHNNY GAY PILCHER
Mr. Johnny Gay Pilcher, age 57, of 2175 Frankford Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at his home. He had been a resident of the area for 29 years, coming here from Enterprise, Ala., and was Baptist by faith. Mr. Pilcher is survived by his wife, Jeanette Pilcher of Panama City; two daughters, Rhonda Hutchens and her husband Hutch of Lula, Ga., and Donna Hallman of Turnersville, Ga.; mother, Dollie G. Turner of Panama City; sisters: Frankie Hill and her husband Bobby of Mobile, Sally Hall and her husband Jon, Sue Wills and her husband Gene and Angie Joe Pettis and her husband Wayne, all of Panama City; brothers, Billy Pilcher and his wife Hazel of Enterprise; five grandchildren; mother-in-law, Nina Adams of Panama City; sisters-in-law, Betty McBride and her husband Tony of Panama City and Shirley O'Conner and her husband Sam of Tampa; and brothers-in-law, Ray Adams and his wife Mary Sue and Johnny Adams and his wife Ann, all of Panama City. He was preceded in death by his father, John Edison Pilcher. Funeral services will be held at noon today, June 14, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Hunt and the Rev. Warren Wright officiating. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. today, June 14, 2000, at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Enterprise, Ala., with the Rev. Calvin Cawthorn officiating. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Wayne Pettis, David Pettis, Eric Wills, Ricky Adkins, Brent Adams and Ray Adams II. The family will be staying at the home of Sally Hall, 2710 Arden Ave., Hiland Park, Fla.

VIRGINIA RUTH RHOADES
Mrs. Virginia Ruth Rhoades, age 80, of 5705 Lilly St., Panama City, Fla., died Monday, June 12, 2000, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since August 1975, moving here from Kentucky. Mrs. Rhoades was a member of Palo Alto Church of Christ and was very active in church activities. She also enjoyed quilting and cooking. Mrs. Rhoades is survived by her daughters, Sara Jane Mannon and her husband Archie of Panama City and Mary Owens of Hendersonville, Tenn.; grandson, Gary Wayne Bray of Hendersonville; a granddaughter, Anita Louise Jansen of Luverne, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Charly Ann Bray of Salt Rapids, Minn., Leslie Mae Kirby of Hendersonville, Sarah Ann Jansen and Kendall Paul Jansen, both of Luverne, Tenn.; two sisters, Esther Cohoon of Murray, Ky., and Katie Joseph of Detroit, Mich.; and two brothers, Cleatus Smith of Murray and Ross Smith of Gorham, Kan. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 14, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Kenneth Grizzell officiating. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home in Murray. Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Murray. The family will receive friends at J.H. Murray Funeral Home Friday, June 16, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m.

INEZ TYNER SIKES
Inez Tyner Sikes, 82, of Crestview, Fla., passed away Monday, June 12, 2000, in a Crestview, Fla., hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 15, at 2 p.m., from Whitehurst Funeral Home, 436 W. James Blvd., Crestview, Fla. Visitation will be today, June 14, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Michael Layne Smith, age 42, of 210 S. Charlene Drive, Callaway, Fla., died Saturday, June 10, 2000. He was a resident of the area since 1964. Mr. Smith was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church. He was a mechanic and owned his own business before becoming disabled. Mr. Smith enjoyed fishing and helping his friends and family. He is survived by his parents, Clarence and Patti Smith of Callaway; sisters, Chyrl Boyer and her husband Mark of Lynn Haven and Stephanie A. Gagnon and her husband Mike of Panama City; brothers, Stephen J. Smith of Parker and Patrick J. Smith of Panama City; a stepson, Richard Wages and his wife Christina of Callaway; step-grandchildren, Alyssa and Emily Wages; nieces, Brandi Boyer and Danielle Gagnon; and nephews: Justin Hall, Christian Hall, Scott Kyle Boyer, and Brady Allen Smith. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 15, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church with Msgr. William A. Crowe and Fr. Pete Zalewski officiating. The family will receive friends at St. Dominic's Catholic Church after the Rosary service that will be held there at 7 p.m. today, June 14. A reception will be held at the church immediately after the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Dominic's Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul Fund.

H.L. 'HUGH' WILLIAMS
Col. H.L. "Hugh" Williams, USAF, retired, age 77, of 304 Iowa Ave., Lynn Haven, died Sunday, June 11, in a local hospital. Born in Enid, Okla., he moved here 34 years ago from Oklahoma. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, he taught at Mowat and Mosley for 17 years. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. A son, Michael Fred Williams, precedes Mr. Williams in death. He is survived by his wife, Ruthie Williams of Lynn Haven; one son, Roger Williams of Georgetown, Ind.; two daughters, Mary Lee Parker of West Lafayette, Ind., and Janet Wilder of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Irlene Sykora of Stillwater, Okla.; three grandchildren, Dana McNeeley, Ryan Parker and Robin Parker; two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Logan McNeeley; sisters-in-law, Virginia Cotton and Quida Davis and husband Joe Davis; brother-in-law, Charles Howell and wife Vi Howell. A memorial service will be held today, June 14, at 6 p.m. in the Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Si Mathison officiating. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to American Cancer Society or the Bay County Humane Society in honor of Col. Williams.
