Mrs. Mary Ida Curry, 79, of 918 Church Ave., died Monday, June 12, 2000, in the National Health Care Center. Funeral services for Mother Curry will be held today, June 17, at 11 a.m. in Holy Temple Church of God in Christ with Elder W.C. Green officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at 918 Church Ave.

ELOUISE ELDRIDGE
Mrs. Elouise Eldridge age, 69, of 1135 E. 24th Plaza, Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since 1970, coming here from Bonifay, Fla. Mrs. Eldridge was a member of Springfield Community Church. She enjoyed traveling and all night gospel sings. Mrs. Eldridge is survived by four sons, Mike Eldridge and his wife Lynne, Randall Eldridge and his wife Diana, Wendell Eldridge and Morgan Eldridge, all of Panama City; two daughters, Dianne Quick and her husband Lendy and Sonya Heathcock and her husband Lee, all of Panama City; a brother, Durwood Smith of Orange Park, Fla.; a sister, Betty Mathews of Dothan; a brother-in-law, Thomas Williams of Dothan; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Mallory Eldridge. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 17, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Hunt and Pastor Robert Layne officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Billy Quick, Jeff Puckett, Lonnie Williams, Donald Williams, Chris Taylor and Wilmer Quick. Honorary pallbearers will include Chris Raffield, Jerome Raffield, Shawn Eldridge and Justin Eldridge.

HAZEL OWENS
Mrs. Hazel Owens, age 67, of 7037 Troy Road, Youngstown, Fla., died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at her home. She had been a resident of the area since 1977, coming here from Lexington, N.C. Mrs. Owens was a member of Hiland Park Assembly of God. She is survived by her husband, Bryce Lewis Owens of Youngstown; four daughters, Vickie Broadway and her husband Mike of Panama City, Kathy Tysinger and her husband Allen of Lexington, N.C., and Karen Peterson and her husband Ronnie and Tamra Pettis and her husband Jim, all of Panama City; a sister, Katheleen Pressley of Lexington, N.C.; a brother, Howard Fitzgerald of Lexington, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Stanley Fitzgerald and Bessie Lou Fitzgerald; a sister, Lottie Everhart; and a brother, Francis Fitzgerald. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 18, at Panama Worship Center with the Rev. Glen Miller, the Rev. Mike Broadway, the Rev. James Raley and the Rev. Mike Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Jamie Fisher, Buddy Everhart, Rodney Mathis, Kevin Broadway, Cory Peterson and Daniel Pettis. Honorary pallbearers include Brian Pettis, Travis Peterson, Steven Owens and John Sword. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, June 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. A very special thank you from the family to Dr. Adhal and Emerald Coast Hospice.

JOSEPH L. POSPISIL SR.
Memorial services for Col. (Ret.) Joseph Pospisil Sr., husband of the former Anita Sorrentino, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2000, at Kent Forest Lawn Chapel, 2403 Harrison Ave., with burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on U.S. 231. He was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Swanton, Neb., and died Sept. 8, 1999, in Panama City, Fla. Col. Pospisil was raised in Nebraska, attended the University of Nebraska and graduated in 1949 from the U.S. military Academy at West Point with a bachelor of science degree; and a master's degree from Iowa State University. He had a distinguised career in the United States Air Force, serving as a navigator and pilot with various commands, including the Strategic Air Command. He also served as assistant professor of mechanics at the Air Force Academy. He retired in 1977 after serving as deputy commander at Eglin A.F.B, base commander at Patrick A.F.B. and base commander at SAMSO in Los Angeles, Calif. He received numerous awards of outstanding merit during his career including the Bronze Star. Upon retirement, Col. Pospisil taught ROTC at Bay High School, math at Gulf Coast Community College and at Tyndall AFB. He was an active member of numerous organizations in the area and a member of Lynn Haven Methodist Church. He married Anita Sorrentino on May 6, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, and they had two sons, Stephen and Joseph Jr. He is survived by his son and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Diane Pospisil of Panama City and Pam Pospisil of Woodbridge, Va.; grandchildren, Laura and Lindsey Pospisil of Woodbridge, Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Kenneth Bors of Crete, Neb.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia Granberry, Catherina and Robert Wilson, Marie and Robert Lee, all of Lynn Haven; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita, and son, Stephen.

Funeral services for Mr. Carl Eugene Raffield Sr., 62, of 110 21st Place, Port St. Joe, Fla., will be held today at 5 p.m. EDT in First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe with the Rev. Dave Fernandez, the Rev. Brent Vickery and Mr. Walter Wilder officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hills Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers: Bill Holton, Al Cathey, Bill Wall, Wayne Taylor, Charlie Smith, Robert Raffield and Billy Milton Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jerry Gaskin, Robert Nedley, Frank Fletcher, Danny Tankersley, John Wright, Roger Newton, Oscar Redd, Teedy Nobles, Bill Whitfield, Billy Branch, Charles Wall, Andreal Hamilton, Leon Hayes, Earl Peak, Paul Sewell, Jimmy Marlow, Mike Purvis, Austin Davis, Danny Wall, Waylon Graham, Ben Armstrong and David Langston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideon's or Hospice of Northwest Florida in memory of Mr. Raffield.

MAGGIE GAYNELL SHIRLEY REED
Maggie Gaynell Shirley Reed, 81, of Panama City, died Friday, June 16, 2000, in a local hospital. She was a retired bookkeeper for Freeman Electric Company. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1951, moving here from Birmingham, Ala. She was a member of Westview Baptist Church and Fidelas Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Spurgeon Reed. She is survived by a son, James Tom Parker and his wife Carol of Indialantic, Fla.; two grandchildren, Laura L. Henderson and her husband Steve of Panama City, Jeffrey T. Parker and his wife Kelly of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Stephen A. Henderson Jr., Stephanie E. Henderson, Jake T. Parker; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 p.m. today. Those desiring to may make a contribution to Westview Baptist Church in memory of Maggie Reed.

Mrs. Flora Lee Sapp, 85, of Southport, died Friday, June 16, 2000, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 19, at 3 p.m. in Sandhills Community Church. Interment will follow in Sandhills Community Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

RON CLARK
Ron Clark, 40, of Panama City, died Thursday evening, June 15, 2000, at his home. Ron was a loving son, brother and friend who will be missed by all. Ron was a native of Birmingham, Ala., and had lived in the Panama City area since 1983, where he was employed as a chef by several local restaurants. Ron is survived by his parents, Don and Edna Clark, Panama City; a brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Sandy Clark, Birmingham, Ala.; a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Ernie Adams, Fountain, Fla.; his grandparents, Elizabeth Van Cleve, Taft, Tenn., Lou Dean Vance, Birmingham, Ala., and Granny Clark, Fairhope, Ala.; an uncle, Roger Dale Vance, Birmingham; three nieces, Kaylee Clark, Amanda Adams and Kristy Adams. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, June 19, at Abundant Life Ministries, 1121A West Highway 390 in Panama City, with speaker Cathy Green, officiating. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in the memory of Ron to BASIC.

LETA BOWEN GRANT
Leta Bowen Grant, 94, of Marianna, died on Saturday. She was born in Washington County, the daughter of John William Bowen and Ida Davis Bowen. Her career as an educator began in the public schools of Graceville and continued after she moved to Marianna in 1930. She was a homemaker and a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her sons, William A. Grant and Richard Wayne Grant; daughter-in-law, Barbara K. Grant; neices and nephews, Albert R. Williams Jr., of Pensacola, Floyd B. Bowen Jr., of Austin, Texas, Joan Bowen Melvin, of Fort Lauderdale, Carol Bowen Ervin, of Tallahassee and John William Bowen II, of Oldsmar; and a number of great-neices and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Doc Grant, a former city clerk, clerk of the circuit court and Marianna businessman. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 19, at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with Dr. Frank Hyles, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. The family requests that in leiu of flowers, memorial contributions might be made to the First United Methodist Church of Marianna. Lord Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
