Mary Vera Peacock Hester, 86, of Lynn Haven, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Gulf Coast Hospital in Panama City. Mrs. Hester was born in Marianna and was a Baptist. Survivors include one brother, Burl Peacock of Tallahassee; two sisters, Mrs. Ora Chambless of Panama City and Mrs. Minnie Ward of Marianna; five neices and five nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. CDT in the Chapel of Adams Funeral Home-Bailey Chapel in Altha with the Rev. Bill Plazarin officiating. Interment will follow in Sink Cemetary in Alliance. The family will receive at Adams Funeral Home Bailey Chapel in Altha today from 6 to 8 p.m. Adams Funeral Home in Altha is in charge of the arrangements.

HAZEL OWENS
Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Owens, 67, of 7037 Troy Road, Youngstown, who died Thursday, June 15, 2000, will be held at 3 p.m. today, June 18, 2000, at the Panama Worship Center with the Rev. Glen Miller, the Rev. Mike Broadway, the Rev. James Raley and the Rev. Mike Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are, Jamie Fisher, Buddy Everhart, Rodney Mathis, Kevin Broadway, Cory Peterson and Daniel Pettis. Honorary pallbearers include, Brian Pettis, Travis Peterson, Steven Owens and John Sword. A very special thank you from the family to Dr. Adhal and Emerald Coast Hospice.

JOSEPH L. POSPISIL SR.
Memorial services for Col. (Ret.) Joseph Pospisil Sr., husband of the former Anita Sorrentino, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2000, at Kent Forest Lawn Chapel, 2403 Harrison Ave., with burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on U.S. 231. He was born Feb. 23, 1925 in Swanton, Neb., and died Sept. 8, 1999 in Panama City, Fla. Col. Pospisil was raised in Nebraska, attended the University of Nebraska and graduated in 1949 from the U.S. military Academy at West Point with a bachelor of science degree; and a master's degree from Iowa State University. He had a distinguised career in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a navigator and pilot with various commands, including the Strategic Air Command. He also served as assistant professor of mechanics at the Air Force Academy. He retired in 1977 after serving as Deputy Commander at Eglin AFB Base Commander at Patrick AFB and Base Commander at SAMSO in Los Angeles, Calif. He received numerous awards of outstanding merit during his career including the Bronze Star. Upon retirement, Col. Pospisil taught ROTC at Bay High School, math at Gulf Coast Community College and at Tyndall AFB. He was an active member of numerous organizations in the area and a member of Lynn Haven Methodist Church. He married Anita Sorrentino May 6, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas and they had two sons, Stephen and Joseph Jr. He is survived by his son and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Diane Pospisil of Panama City and Pam Pospisil of Woodbridge, Va.; grandchildren, Laura and Lindsey Pospisil of Woodbridge, Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Kenneth Bors of Crete, Neb.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia Granberry, Catherina and Robert Wilson, Marie and Robert Lee, all of Lynn Haven; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita and son, Stephen.

FLORA LEE SAPP
Mrs. Flora Lee Sapp, 85, of Southport, died Friday, June 16, 2000, in a local hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Bay County. Mrs. Sapp was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rayford Sapp. Mrs. Sapp is survived by her two sons, Jonnie Ray Sapp and wife Nancy and Billy Ray Sapp and wife Jeanne all of Southport; two daughters, Willie Lee Hutchins and husband Carl of Southport, and Sharon Viola Odum and husband Donald of the Sand Hills community; one sister, Willie Mae Wells of Southport; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Sapp will be conducted Monday, June 19, 2000, at 3 p.m. in the Sand Hills Community Church. Interment will follow in the Sand Hills Community Church Cemetery. Mrs. Sapp's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends this afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

GAY ANN WHITE
Mrs. Gay Ann White, 67, of 2008 Dorothy Ave., Panama City Beach, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at a local hospital. She has been a resident of the area since 1990, coming here from Birmingham, Ala. Mrs. White was a member of the Center Park Baptist Church of Birmingham. She is survived by her husband, Jim White Jr. of Panama City Beach; four sons, Ronald Humphries and his wife Maegun, Richard Humphries and Mark Humphries, all of Panama City, and Joe Humphries of Jacksonville; a daughter, Brenda White of Panama City; a brother, Eugene Coleman and his wife Peggy of Helena, Ala.; and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2000, at the graveside in Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, Ala., with the Rev. Eric Hayward officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today, June 18, 2000, at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville.

DAVID CUSHING KERR
Mr. David Cushing Kerr, 83, of Panama City, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2000, at the GlenCove Nursing Pavilion. He was born March 15, 1917 in Nashua, N.H., and had been a resident of Bay County since 1973 after coming here from Ohio. Mr. Kerr loved lighthouses and H.O. trains, was very proud of his Scottish heritage and was a staunch American patriot. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1939 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He earned a master's degree from the Ohio State University in engineering. Mr. Kerr was a member of various organizations and associations, such as the Cloak and Dagger Fine Arts Society of the University of New Hampshire, and a former member of the Masons and Shriners in Loraine, Ohio and the B.P.O.E. of Panama City. He retired from United States Steel in Loraine, Ohio after a distinguished career. Following his retirement, he continued his work with the company as an engineering consultant in Cairo, Egypt for a number of years. Mr. Kerr served his country during World War II as a Captain in the U.S. Army and was of the Presbyterian faith. Mr. Kerr is survived by his loyal companion, Mattie Eunice Givens of Panama City; sister-in-law Rosella Kerr, nephew David Kerr, and niece Beth Kerr, all of Ontario, Canada; nephew, Dr. Andrew Kerr and wife Betsy of Ventura, Calif.; sister-in-laws, Lois and husband Jack Nichols of Panama City, and Nancy and husband Owen Cowan of Urbana, Ohio; and many other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating and interment following at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with military Honors. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are David Kerr, Dean Ridings, Jack Nichols and James Warren. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, June 19, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m.

GLADYS ZION PORTER
Ms. Gladys Zion Porter, 96, of Lynn Haven passed away Saturday, June 17, 2000, at a local hospital. Born in Lebanon, Ind., she moved to Lynn Haven in 1915. Ms. Porter was a librarian at the Lynn Haven McMullen Memorial Library, a member of the United Methodist Women's Society, a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter 262, was past Matron of Lynn Haven Order of the Eastern Star, past president of the Past Matron and Past Patrons Club, served as musician for Order of the Eastern Star for many years. She is predeceased by Joel L. and Lena B. Zion, and by William Leslie Porter. Ms. Porter is survived by one niece, Eileen Zion Wright and husband Tracy O. of Roanoke, Va.; and many grand nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 20, in the Lynn Haven Cemetery with Pastor Doug Pennington officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lynn Haven United Methodist memorial fund or Lynn Haven Masonic building fund (O.E.S.).

Mrs. Flora Lee Sapp, 85, of Southport, died Friday, June 16, 2000, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be conducted today at 10 a.m. in the Sandhills Community Church. Internment will follow in the Sandhills Community Church Cemetery.

RONALD P. 'RON' SZOSTEK
Mr. Ronald P. "Ron" Szostek, 56, of 3906 Venetian Circle in Panama City, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area for 32 years after coming here from Lansing, Mich. Mr. Szostek was a retired chef who had worked at and managed many area restaurants. He enjoyed fishing and watching NFL football. He was Catholic by faith. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Lonnell Szostek of Panama City; step-sons, Norman Clay Todd and Roger Dale Todd, both of Panama City; and step-grandchildren, Tamara Todd, Johnathan Todd and Alexis Lee Todd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Respice Center of Bay County Council on Aging. A private funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today, June 19, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Warren Wright officiating.

MICHAEL BERNARD DEVLIN
Mr. Michael Bernard Devlin, 71, of 413 Hickory Bluff Circle, Southport, Fla., died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area for six years, coming here from New York City. Mr. Devlin was Catholic by faith and an avid Yankees fan. He is survived by his wife, Joan Devlin of Southport, Fla.; a son, James Devlin and his wife Sharon of New York, N.Y.; five daughters, Patricia Cavalluzzo and her husband Dennis of Youngstown, Fla., Kathy Katz and her husband Paul, Joan Farrell and her husband John, and Caroline Jaffee and her husband Jay, all of New York, N.Y., and Barbara Embree and her husband Lofton of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren, Christopher Cerrato and Barbara Jean Cannizarro, both of Panama City, Fla., Sara Devlin of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Patrick Devlin and Kelly Devlin, both of New York, Michael Devlin of California, and Anthony Devlin of Cleveland, Ohio; a great-grandson, Raymond Cannizarro; and six other great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Devlin; and a grandson, Ricky Fay. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Msgr. William Crowe officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, June 21, from noon until 2 p.m., two hours prior to service time. WARREN ALDRICH ELLSWORTH JR.
Warren Aldrich Ellsworth Jr., 72, died Friday, June 16, 2000. He had been a resident of Panama City for 13 years. Mr. Ellsworth was born and grew up in Worcester, Mass., the son of Ruth Harrington and Warren Ellsworth Sr. He was a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute. After several years with United Technologies in Connecticut, Warren joined M.B. Electronics in Newhaven, Conn., where he was instrumental in the research and development of underwater sonar equipment for the Navy. He noved his family to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in 1966 and was involved in various business ventures in the Fort Lauderdale area. Upon retiring in 1986, Warren moved to Bay Point, Panama City. He is survived by his wife, Edith W. Ellsworth of Panama City; one sister, Joy Wetzel Hall of Holden, Mass.; one brother, David Ellsworth of Cape Cod, Mass.; daughters, Valley Ellsworth Gattis, of Louisville, Ky., and Christie Ellsworth Holt of McLean, Va.; stepchildren, Terri Therrien of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Richard Whittington of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Charlotte Alesi of Atlanta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandaughter. He was predeceased by his son, Warren A. Ellsworth III. Funeral services will be held at noon today, June 20, at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
