ESADALE GEERING
Our beloved Esadale Geering went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 22, 2000. Esadale lived a long and fulfilling life for 89 years. She lived at Alterra Sterling House on Harrison Ave., and was a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church. She will join in Heaven, her husband, Herman Geering; her parents, Mae and William Thorogood; and many other relatives and loved ones she has longed to stand side by side with again. Those still on this Earth and celebrating the life the Lord gave us for so long, is her daughter and son-in-law in Panama City, Judy and Jerry Girvin and three grandchildren, Robert Girvin, Heather Hart and Lorna Wolfkill. Esadale also has five great-grandchildren in Panama City. In Illinois, she has a daughter, Cherrie Sherrod; five grandchildren, Linda Carlson, Betty Atkins, Lillian Escamillo, Mary Sherrod, and Richard Sherrod; and several great-grandchildren. Esadale also has a son, Victor Geering. Esadale came from Chicago originally. Many of her fond memories come from spending summers at Bass Lake in Indiana . We hear Heaven has a lake just like it! Esadale and Herman eventually moved down south to New Port Richey. She spent her time writing poetry (Esadale was a published author), playing her organ (oh, what wonderful music she made), square dancing (Herman and she made such a great team), singing (she had a beautiful soprano voice), and playing cards-bridge, pinochle, and double solitaire. Of course she taught all of her grandchildren how to play cards, but they never quite beat Grandma. They only occasionally won and we think Esadale let them! Esadale will be missed but her life will be celebrated. She is in a much better place, completely in God's hands and with many loved ones and friends. Esadale is where she can play her organ, dance with her husband, and sing and play to her heart's content. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 25, 2000, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel on 23rd St., with the Rev. Dan Harrison officiating. The family will be receiving visitors at 1p.m. today, June 25, 2000, an hour prior to service time at the funeral home. For those who so desire, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Northwest Florida, 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, FL 32405. Hospice of Northwest Florida, together with Alterra Sterling House, watched over Esadale with tremendous love and tender care.
