Lois Kelly Bush, age 90, of 1102 S. Waukesha St., Bonifay, Fla., passed away July 7, 2000, at Bay Medical Center, Panama City. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 10, at 10 a.m. in First Baptist Church of Bonifay with the Rev. Jeff Ross, Kelly Ross, Rodney Culpepper and Adolph Pharis, officiating. Burial will follow at Bonifay City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home. Survivors include nephews: Joseph B. Ross of Lynn Haven, Joey and wife Donna Ross of Bonifay, Jeff and wife Eleatha Ross of Dothan, Ala., Kelly and wife Joan Ross of Elba, Ala.; nieces: Myrtle Hardy, Jean Samuelson, Johnnie Lou Tobin, all of Bonifay, Martha Jo Register of Tallahassee; step-grandchildren: Sheri and husband Ricky Brooks of Bonifay, Teri Curry and husband Tom Burns, Raye Curry, all of Jacksonville, Fla., Lisa and husband Terry Gilligan of Thomasville, Fla.; great nephews, nieces and great-stepchildren.

Mr. Williams Clayton Carder of Panama City Beach died recently in Panama City Beach. Mr. Carder had lived in the Panama City Beach area for several years. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

A memorial service for Mrs. Addie Loretta Daniels-Jones, age 44, of 1320 Roosevelt Drive, who died Thursday, July 7, will be held todayy, July 9, 2000, at 1 p.m. in Gainer Family Funeral Home Chapel. She is survived by a daughter, Jessica Lauren Palmore; a loving mother, Lavade (Louie) Daniels-Lawson; a brother, James Robert (Annie) Daniels of Tallahassee; two sisters, Amonda Gayle (Lewis) Daniels-Emanuel of Tallahasee and Beverly Ann (Manny) Daniels-Javaheri of Panama City; nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and numerous of other relatives.

Mr. Samuel Lee Godwin, 59, of Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, July 2, in a local hospital. He was a native of Cottondale, Fla., but had been a longtime resident of Bay County. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Ms. Gracie Lee Shack; five children: Letrice Williams (Bobby), Vincent Godwin (Linda) of Panama City, Tyris Godwin of Tampa, Deirda Godwin, Shanda Godwin; six grandchildren: Keisha Godwin, Kenneth Caldwell, Shakeyia Robinson, Ceanclerest McCoy, Tracy Craft Jr., Tyrell Craft, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Godwin of Panama City; friends, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clark and Donald Lee. CHARLES BENJAMIN 'BENNIE' NELSON
Charles Benjamin "Bennie" Nelson, 50, of 1014 E. 26th St., Panama City, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, in a local nursing home. He was a boilermaker for the Boilermakers Local 199. He was a member of St. Andrew Civic Club. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bozzie Nelson Jr. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Josephine Nelson Sr. of Panama City; son, Ramley Nelson; daughter, Rachel Nelson; grandson, Marcus Nelson, all of California; brother, Martell Nelson and his wife Cathy of Panama City; two sisters, Bobbie Jo Halstead and her husband Ron of Pensacola, Shannon Johnson and her husband Don of Panama City; sister-in-law, Valerie Nelson of Panama City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buddy Tipton officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and the Boilermaker Ritual will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Bennie Nelson.

JAMES LEE 'JAY' RAMSEY
Mr. James Lee "Jay" Ramsey, of Southport, Fla., passed away at the age of 63, having fought a courageous battle with cancer, Thursday, July 6, 2000. Jay was a retired sergeant of the United States Air Force and veteran of the Vietname War. He accomplished many tours of duty throughout the world. For the past 20 years, he worked as a technician at the Navy Coastal Systems Station, where he continued in service to the military after his retirement. In his leisure time, Jay enjoyed all areas of gardening and being the family man he was. We all love Jay and will miss him so. He is survived by his wife, Linda Ramsey of Southport; two sons, Keith and Shawn Ramsey, both of Southport; his daughters, Cynthia Veliz of San Antonio, Texas, and Deborah Johnson of Somerdell, N.J.; his three grandchildren; his brothers, Gary Ramsey of Bassett, Va., Wayne Ramsey of Baytown, Texas, Mike Ramsey of Panama City, and Doug Ramsey of Yanceyville, N.C.; his sisters, Joanne Washburn of Bassett, Va., and Mary Boothe of Stuart, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Simmons officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Mike Ramsey, Gary Ramsey, Doug Ramsey, Wayne Ramsey, Sid Dykes, Quintin Dykes, Donald Booth and Gene Baker. Honorary pallbearers will include all of Jay's friends and co-workers at the Navy Coastal Systems Station who worked with him over the years. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, July 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.

JOHN HUGHIE SEXTON
Mr. John Hughie Sexton, age 54, of 3827 Alva Thomas Road, Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at his home. He had been a resident of the area for 33 years and retired from from the local paper mill in 1999. He also made cast nets and enjoyed working with his hands. Mr. Sexton is survived by his wife, Brenda Sexton of Panama City; a daughter, Kathy E. Jarzynka and her husband Alan of Panama City; sons: Kenneth R. Sexton and his wife Vonda of Jacksonville, John H. Sexton Jr. and his wife Tracy of Panama City and Charles D. Sexton and his wife Melissa of Southport; a brother, Harry F. Sexton and his wife Martha of Dothan; a sister, Patsy Leo of Schenectady, N.Y.; grandchildren: Heather Alford and her husband Lee, Jacob Jarzynka, Jessica Sexton, Caleb Sexton, Chad Sexton, Leah Sexton and Matthew Sexton. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Don Shoots officiating. Honorary pallbearers will include Billy Williams, Ed Cauthen, Jack Penny, Dan Wallace, John Mitchell, Jesse Riley, Zane Jarzynka and Lee Alford. Interment will follow. LEOLA ELIZABETH GILMORE SMITH
Mrs. Leola Elizabeth Gilmore Smith, 96, of 615 Barton Ave., died Wednesday July 5, 2000, in a local hospital. She was a native of Shelby, Miss., a resident of Staten Island, N.Y., and Panama City for many years. She dedicated her life to God's work, family and community services. She was a active member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where served on the golden age committee and worked with Counsel on Aging and also senior citizen transportation services. A special farewell from Sister Smith to Diane and Mr. Geise, Vivian, Audrey Bullard, Beryl Tate, Lee Bryan, Hattie Burch and all sisters and brothers of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Smith Sr., and a son, McIntosh Smith. She is survived by four children: Annetta Morris and Atherline Smith both of Staten Island, N.Y., George H. Smith Jr. of Panama City and Mary Alice Howie of Dayton, Ohio; two daughters-in-law, Maureen Smith of Panama City, and Fannie L. Smith of W. Babylon Long Island, N.Y.; son-in law, Leonard J. Howie; 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Cora Lee Marshall of Shelby, Miss.; four nieces: Nona Ross of Chicago, Ill., Clara Spaulding of Panama City, Joyce L. Johnson of Chicago, Ill., and Madge Marshall; a host of grand nieces, grand nephews, extended family and special friends. Funeral services and final interment will be entrusted to Burton Funeral Home, 180 Morningstar Road, Staten Island, N.Y. 10303. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the George H. and Leola E. Smith Scholarship Foundation in care of: Josephine Tucker, 26 Caroline St., Staten Island N.Y. 10310. The family will receive relatives and friends locally at 8009 State 22, Callaway.

JAMES M. THOMAS SR.
Mr. James M. Thomas Sr., 96, of Cedar Grove, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at his residence. Mr. Thomas was a native of New Jersey, and had resided in Bay County for a number of yeas. Mr. Thomas was self-employed as an automobile mechanic. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

JOSEPH B. BROWN
Joseph B. Brown, 85, of Callaway, passed away July 6, 2000, after a short stay at the Glen Cove Nursing Pavilion where he received loving care from an exceptionally caring staff. He was born and raised in Kinston, N.C. He moved here in 1978 from Lutherville, Md. He was a pioneer in the field of airborne radar guided fire control systems, having been employed as an electronics technician for the Army Air Corps at the Warner-Robbins Army Air Field during World War II. He was involved with the development and employment of fire control systems in the B-29 aircraft. At the start of the "Cold War" he joined Bendix Radio Corporation as a field engineer, and was responsible for the original installation of long-range search radar units at several aircraft control and warning sites across the northern tier of the United States. Some of the sites were Havre, Montana, Colville, Washington and Neah Bay, Wash., among others. At the time of his retirement in 1978 he held the position of Supervisor of Estimating and Cost Control for the Bendix Field Engineering Corporation. During his retirement he continued to pursue his long-standing passion for the game of golf, having played most of the courses in the area and making golf trips to North Carolina and South Carolina. He was three-times-a-week golfer at the Fox Run Golf Course up until this past April. He was a member of Parkway Presbyterian Church and very much enjoyed his membership in the choir. His last participation in the choir was on Easter Sunday of this year. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Mary R. Brown. He is survived by his on, Joseph B. Brown Jr. Lt. Col. USAF retired, and his daughter-in-law Gloria G. Brown of Callaway; granddaughter, Marijo J. Brown of Largo Fla., and several other nephews and nieces in North Carolina and Florida. The family plans to hold a private service for the interment and then a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to the Parkway Presbyterian Church Organ Fund in honor of Mr. Brown.
