Interment will follow at 4 p.m. in Roberts Cemetery in Wewahitchka. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Mary Dreyer, Alvin Peters, Dr. Richard Walker and Mike Garrett.

LOUIS WAYNE "RHINO" HENDELS
Louis Wayne "Rhino" Hendels, 52, of Apalachicola, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at his home. A native and lifelong resident of Apalachicola, Mr. Hendels worked for St. Joe Paper Co. for 29 years as a pipe fitter and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He is survived by two sons, Dwayne Hendels of West Palm Beach, Michael Hendels of Apalachicola; daughter, Amy Forman of West Palm Beach; stepson, Shawn Ward of Apalachicola; three brothers, George, Choppy and Chris Hendels, all of Apalachicola; sister, Debbie Cox of Apalachicola; grandchild, Jarod Alexander Forman of West Palm Beach. Funeral services were held July 25 at 10 a.m. EDT at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Apalachicola. Interment followed in Magnolia Cemetery in Apalachicola.

HARRY MAXWELL MURPHY
Mr. Harry Maxwell Murphy, 72, of Port St. Joe, Fla., departed this life, Sunday, July 23, 2000. He was born in Ezel, Ky., and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from the Life Ins. Co. of Georgia and was a member of St. Joe Masonic Lodge No. 111. His parents, Harry W. and Ruth Henry Murphy and his late wife, Janie Schuler Murphy, precede Mr. Murphy in death. He is survived by his wife, Inez Murphy; one son, Harry Michael Murphy, both of Port St. Joe; one daughter, Debra Jan Fischer and husband, John H. Fischer of Naples, Fla.; one brother, Larry D. Murphy of Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Nellavene M. Austin of Dayton, Ohio; stepdaughters, Betty J. Bradley and husband Dennis Bradley, Brenda Burkett and husband Eugene Burkett, all of Port St. Joe; grandsons, David Poole of Port St. Joe, Justin Poole of Eastpoint; stepgrandsons, John Wesley Fischer of Chipley, Kevin Bradley and wife Wendy of St. Joe Beach, Richie Burkett and wife Dana of Port St. Joe, Kimberly Smith and husband Michael of Panama City. A memorial service will be conducted today at 11 a.m. EDT at Oak Grove Assembly of God Church with the Rev. David Fernandez officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida, Panama City, in memory of Mr. Murphy.

Mrs. Senella P. Oliver, 87, of 1515 Michigan Ave., died Friday, July 21, 2000, in the Gulf Coast Convalescent Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Oliver will be held today, July 26, at 11 a.m. in Battle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leon Jones, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemtery.

KATHRYN LOUISE 'KIT' THIELE SEARIGHT
Kathryn Louise (Kit) Thiele Searight, 71, passed away on July 23, 2000 in a Minneapolis, Minn. hospital. Born in Madison, Minn., she graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1951. While there she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was an executive with Dole Foods in California. After retiring she lived at Bay Point but recently returned to Minnesota where she was active with several natural resource organizations She was a past president of Mariner East Condominium Association where she spent the winter months. Mrs Searight is survived by a son, Todd Adams of Cornwall, N.Y., a sister, Jayne Thiele Lindholm and brother-in-law Fred Lindholm of Panama City; a loving companion, Henry Ulrich of Madison Minn.; three nephews, Ross Lindholm of Centreville, Va., Jeffrey Lindholm of Irvine, Calif., Chad Lindholm of Eden Prairie, Minn.; a niece, Kara Lindholm Davis of Panama City Beach; and a cousin, Kathy Wiliams of St. Paul, Minn., as well as many loving friends. A funeral Mass will be said at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis at 10 a.m. on July 28. The family will receive friends in the Church undercroft following the Mass. MIRIAM LOIS WOODS GERDE
Miriam Lois Woods Gerde passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, July 25, 2000, at her home, after having enjoyed a quiet celebration of her 86th birthday the preceding week, on July 18. Born in Stephen, Minn., in 1914, she was one of nine brothers and sisters. Her father Frank Woods, was a land manager and farmer and businessman, and her mother, Luella Noyes Woods, was one of the first female graduates of Lawrence College. Miriam attended public schools in Stephen, graduating in 1929 at age 15. She subsequently attended Hamline University (as did seven of her siblings), and was graduated from Hamline with a B.A. In 1939, she met then Lt. Clifford S. Gerde (U.S. Coast Guard Academy, 1936), and they were married on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 1939, in the Macalester College Chapel in St. Paul, Minn. Mrs. Gerde treasured their marriage until the passing of Mr. Gerde on Jan. 19, 1991. Mrs. Gerde was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Luella Woods; and by seven of her siblings. She is survived by two sons, Jerry W. Gerde, Esq. of Panama City, Fla., and Lee S. Gerde, M.D., of McAllen, Texas. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Winton C. and Shirley Woods, of Alpharetta, Ga.; and by her granddaughter, Virginia Woods Gerde, Ph.D., of Albuquerque, N.M.; and by her grandson, Eric Stendahl Gerde, a doctoral candidate at the University of Texas in Austin. Mrs. Gerde enjoyed the winter concert season presented by the Panama City Music Association, and she believed deeply in wise stewardship of natural resources and systems. Anyone wishing to do so may consider a memorial to the Panama City Music Assn., Endowment, P.O. Box 133, Panama City, 32401 or to the Bay County Conservancy, Inc., P.O. Box 1182, Panama City, 32402 Mrs. Gerde will be laid to rest next to her late husband in the National Cemetery, Beaufort, S.C. An informal celebration of her life and her passing will be held on Saturday morning, July 29, at 10 a.m., in McKenzie Park, where she enjoyed so many Thursday evening Concerts-In-The-Park.

JAMES E. 'JIMMY' NELSON
Mr. James E. "Jimmy" Nelson of Panama City, age 86, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at his home. Born in Vernon, Fla., he was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a line type operator for The News Herald and was a member of First Baptist Church of Panama City. He was also a member of Woodmen of the World. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 28, at 9 a.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Dr. Marshall Barnett and the Rev. Bruce Raley, officiating.

LUDIE J. GASTON
Mrs. Ludie J. Gaston, 73, of Port St. Joe, Fla., died July 22, 2000, in a local nursing center. She was a native of Alma, Ala., and a lifelong resident of Port St. Joe, Fla. She was a former member of the Church of God in Christ, and later joined Fellowship Church of Praise. She is survived by her two daughters, Emily Jefferson (Jessie) and Tonya Westry (Gary) both of Panama City; son, Ollie Gaston Jr. of Panama City; three brothers: Danny Jackson of Gainesville, James Boykins (Helen) and Elmo Jackson both of Mobile, Ala.; sister, Henrietta Robinson of Mobile, Ala.; three granddaughters: Shawana Davis (Tony) of Columbus, Ga., Joylita Lee (Herman) and Marva Gaston both of Panama City; godson, Cleveland Riley Jr. (Scauley) of Ft. Lauderdale; special niece, Earleen Everett of Port St. Joe; eight great-grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Gaston will be held Saturday, July 29, at 2 p.m. in Church of God in Christ on Ave. D. in Port St. Joe, Fla., with Pastor Rosa Garland officiating. Interment to follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe, Fla. A wake service will be held this evening, July 28, at Greater Friendship Baptist Church, 909 E. 8th St. Panama City, Fla., from 6 to 7 p.m. The family will receive relatives and friends at 2823 E.17th St.

ANNIE BELLE SULLIVAN CREAMER
Annie Belle Sullivan Creamer, 90, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at Calhoun Liberty Hospital, following an extended illness. She was born Aug. 7, 1909. She previously lived in Port St. Joe, but had lived the last several years in Blountstown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Creamer of Port St. Joe. Mrs. Creamer is survived by one step-daughter, Alice Ellison of Perry, Fla.; one step-son, Edward Creamer of St. Joe Beach; her niece and guardian, Wanda Burkett of Blountstown; one sister-in-law, Lorena Sullivan of Tampa, Fla.; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, friends and family. Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. EDT (6 to 8 p.m. CDT) at Comforter Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, at 2 p.m. EDT 1 p.m. CDT) at Holly Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Robert E. Barton Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot.

OWEN C. HAYES
Mr. Owen C. Hayes, age 60, of 305 Vestavia Street, Panama City Beach, FL. died on Wednesday morning, July 26, 2000 at his home after an extended illness. Mr. Hayes had been a resident of the Panama City area for the past 10 years, coming here from Albany, Ga. During that time he was employed by the Ace Package Store in Panama City for 8 years. Mr. Hayes is survived by his mate: Joyce Hopper of Panama City Beach; daughters: Sonya Johnson and her husband Dewey of Sylvester, Ga., Darlene Deal of Cuthbert, Ga.; a son: Chris Hayes and his wife Angela of Albany, Ga.; his father: Mr. Pat Hayes and his wife Eileen of Albany, Ga.; a sister: Meriam Seago of Albany, Ga.; and four grandchildren: Brent Epperson, Auston Johnson, Christopher Hayes and Ashley Hayes. A memorial service was held on Thursday July 27, 2000 at the chapel of Kent - Forest Lawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Key officiating with Mr. Neal Sims and Mr. Buck Etheredge giving eulogies. A second Memorial Service will be held in Mr. Hayes' hometown at 3:00 p.m. EDT on Saturday, July 29, 2000 at Matthews Oaklawn Chapel in Albany, Ga.

WADDIE MING JR.
Mr. Waddie Ming Jr., 57 of Panarna City, Fla. died Monday, July 24, 2000, at Gulf Coast Medical Center, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Liberty County, Fla., and his family relocated to Panama City, Fla., when he was an infant. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and served in our country's Vietname War. He was employed at Parthenon Printing. His mother, Beatrice Ming; sister, Lutissie Washington, and grandmother, Mary Sweet, preceded Mr. Ming in death. Mourning Mr. Ming's demise are three children who are grateful to have reunited with him over the past eight years: Stephanie Ming, Waddie Ming III, Steven Ming and his father, Waddie Ming Sr. Grandchildren also blessed to have hold him and shared him in their lives are: Derrick Howard, Rhakeem Ebony Ming, Dallas Rhakeem Ebony Ming, Juawan Ming, and Taqera Ebony Ming. Other grieving survivors include three brothers: Matthew Harmon of San Fernando Valley, Calif., Austin Ming of Oakland, Calif., and Lafayette Ming, of Panama City, Fla.; two sisters, Barbara Allen of San Bemandino, Calif., and Gloria Thurman of Los Angeles, Calif.; a devoted personal friend, Chris Peterman; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins and close friends. Funeral services for Mr. Ming will be held Saturday, July 29, at 3 p.m. at Greater Bethel AME Church with the Rev. O.C. Williams, officiating. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Gainer Family Funeral Home and the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
