KEN ROSSELL
Mr. Ken Rossell, 67, of Panama City, went to be with the Lord, Friday Aug. 4, 2000, at his home. He was a native of Louisville, Ky., and had lived in Panama City for the past 30 years where he and his wife owned and operated the Studio Plastics Sign Co. for 19 years. Ken served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and was an active member of Northside Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marian Rossell of Panama City; two daughters, Debra Nelson and her husband Ted of Norcross, Ga., and Lisa Quinn and her husband Lanny of Sarasota; a son, Tim Rossell of Panama City; and two sisters, Alice and Wanetta Rossell, both of Louisville, Ky. Mr. Rossell was lovingly known as "Pa" by his three grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew and Luke Nelson. A private burial will be followed by a memorial service Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Lewis Miller officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until time for the services at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Mr. Rossell's name be made to the Building Fund of Northside Baptist Church.

DOYLE 'AL' WOODS JR.
Doyle Alver Woods Jr., 44, of Tallahassee, passed away Saturday. The service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Calvary Methodist Church in Tallahassee. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Culley's Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee. Doyle was a longtime resident of Tallahassee, having served for the Tallahassee Police Department more than 25 years, following his service with the Federal Bureau of Investigations at Quantico, Va. A loving and giving father, son, brother, and friend, he is survived by three sons, Kitt Woods, of Grand Junction, Colo., Ben Woods and Kyle Woods, both of Tallahassee; his mother, Jacquie Dykes, of Panama City; stepfather, Nixon Dykes of Panama City; brother, Lloyd Woods of Crystal River; sisters, Patsy Guy of Ochlocknee and Georgia and Nikki Woods of Tallahassee. In lieu of flowers, Doyle's family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Gold Shield Foundation for the benefit of the children of fallen police officers and firefighters, at P.O. Box 271791, Tampa, Fla., 33688.

E. RUTH CHAYKA
E. Ruth Chayka passed away on Aug. 4, 2000, in Maryville, Tenn., after a lengthy illness. Ruth was born on February 20, 1919 in Chipley. She moved to Seattle, Wash., where she met husband Richard C. Chayka and was married on May 25, 1947. She had been associated with Jehovah Witness Faith since 1950, attending numerous Kingdom Halls in Washington, Florida and now Walland, Tenn. Her son Richard A. Chayka preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard C. Chayka of Townsend, Tenn.; daughter, Patricia K. Steineke and husband Don; grandson, Andrew J. Steineke, all of Marysville, Wash.; granddaughter, Kimberly A. Barbeau of Everett, Wash.; sister, Mae Williams of Lynn Haven; and numerous cousins. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Roland Haskell officiating. Internment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

RAYMOND CHARLES GROOM
Mr. Raymond Charles Groom, 62, of Picayune, Miss., formerly of Panama City, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, as the result of a tractor accident in Carriere, Miss. Raymond was born in Waukunah, Fla., but was raised in Panama City. He was the owner and operator of S.W. Anderson Inc., a deep-sea fishing business in Panama City, before moving to Picayune in 1989. He was in real estate for the past eight years and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Panama City. His parents, Roy Houston Groom Sr. and Ethel Smith Groom, and a daughter Judith Anderson Groom, precede him in death. Raymond is survived by his wife, Judy Anderson Groom of Picayune; six sons: Raymond C. Groom II, Michael Houston Groom, George Hayden Helms III and Thomas Scott Helms, all of Panama City, Stephen Walter Helms of Andalusia, Ala., and Charles Christian Blue Groom of Picayune; two brothers, Roy Groom and Ronnie Groom, both of Panama City; and 10 grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be conducted today, Aug. 7, at 3 p.m. with Mr. Steve Southerland Sr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association in memory of Mr. Groom.

SALLIE MAE TABB HUGHES
Funeral services for Sallie Mae Tabb Hughes, 88, of 3009 N. Altha Ave. in Panama City, who died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, in a local nursing home, will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Pickernill officiating. Internment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons: Tony Dorman, Joey Dorman, Greg Dorman, Roger Hughes, Kevin Hughes, Robbie Hughes and Chris Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Esther Sunday School Class at Hiland Park Baptist Church and the nursing staff of the south wing of Gulf Coast Convalescent Center. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Hiland Park Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Sallie Mae Hughes. The family will be at the home of John T. Hughes, 3023 Clearview Ave., Panama City.

FLORENCE WOOLF LEE EZZARD
Mrs. Florence Woolf Lee Ezzard, 83, of Panama City, died Monday morning in a local hospital. She was born in Shorterville, Ala., and moved to Bay County in 1993 from Winter Garden, Fla. Mrs. Ezzard was a homemaker and a member of Springfield Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Ezzard is survived by one daughter and her husband, Jeanette and Luther Pierce of Callaway; two sons and their wives, Robert E. and Beverly Lee of Macon, Miss., and Hugh and Sara Lee of Jackson, Miss.; one sister, Mrs. Nanny Lou Mayo of Abbeville, Ala.; three stepdaughters; one stepson; eight grandsons, Luther D. Pierce Jr. and wife, Debbie of Jacksonville, Wesley Pierce and wife Sharon of Panama City, Doug Pierce and wife, Shirley of Panama City, Richard Lee and wife, Lori of New York City, N.Y., Eric Lee and wife, Veronica of Knoxville, Tenn., Richman Lee and wife, Robbie of the Phillipines, Bret Lee and wife, Nickey of Clinton, Miss., Preston Lee and wife, Dianna of Oxford, Miss.; eight great-grandchildren, Mike Butterfield, Jessica Pierce, Beth Pierce, Joshua Pierce, Kevin Lee, I.Q. Lee, Hannah Rose and Castor. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 10, at 3 p.m. in Calvary Baptist Church of Winter Garden with the Rev. Reynold Lymph officiating. Interment will follow in Winter Garden Cemetery. There will be a local visitation for the family to receive friends at Southerland Family Funeral Home tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. Those who wish in lieu of floewrs may send contributions to your favorite charity.

MARY L. JONES
Mrs. Mary L. Jones, 95, of Pace, Fla., died Sunday in a Pensacola hospital. She was born in 1905 in Benton, Mo. She was a homemaker and of the Lutheran faith. She is predeceased by her husband, George E. Jones. Mrs. Jones is survived by one daughter, Delores Bakich and her husband, Christopher of Pace. Funeral services will be today at 3 p.m. at the graveside of Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Steve Southerland II will officiate the service and interment will follow.

DESSIE LEE "GRANNY" PARKER
Mrs. Dessie Lee "Granny" Parker, 88, of Port St. Joe, Fla. died Sunday evening, Aug. 6, 2000, at her residence. Born in Gadsden County, Fla., she had been a lifelong resident of Port St. Joe. Mrs. Parker was the supervisor of elections in Gulf County for 12 years. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe and a member of Bethany Sunday School Class. Mrs. Parker is preceded in death by her husband, Tom Parker Sr.; and three sons, Bill Parker, Don Parker and Marion Parker. She is survived by three sons, Tom Parker Jr. and wife, Louise of Port St. Joe, Bruce Parker of Overstreet, and Larry Parker and wife, Gail of Tallahassee; two daughters, Geraldine Beardsley and husband, Lloyd of Panama City and Faye Tarantino of Apalachicola; one brother, William Benton and wife, Hazel of Tallahassee; two sisters, Burnell Varnum of Headland, Ala., and Margaret Thrash of Tallahassee; three daughters-in-law, Mary Parker and Barbara Parker both of Port St. Joe, and Peggy Parker of Tallahassee; 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Parker will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. EDT in First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe with the Rev. Howard Browning and the Rev. Brent Vickory officiating. Interment will follow in Roberts Cemetery in Wewahitchka. Mrs. Parker's grandsons will serve as active pallbearers, Tres Parker, Andy Namynanik, Jim Faison, Randy Parker, Drew Parker, Joey Tarantino, Lee Parker and Andy Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church, members of Bethany Sunday School Class, Harry L. Smith, John Rich, Bill Rich, Harmon Naberhuls, Gene Sorrells, and Buddy Caswell. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Port S. Joe. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church bus fund or the Emerald Coast Hospice in memory of Mrs. Parker.

J. WHITNEY WILLIAMS
The funeral service for Mr. J. Whitney Williams will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Lynn Haven, Saturday afternoon, Aug. 12, 2000, at 2 p.m. Mr. Williams was born Dec. 24, 1916; died on July 13, 2000. Friends are invited to attend.
