Frank Clifford Grippo Jr., 52, of Vernon, Fla., died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in his home. He had been a resident of Vernon for the past five years moving there from Panama City. He was a graduate of Port Jervis Central High School and Orange County Community College. He was a monitor technician at Bay Medical Center. He had also worked as a insurance agent for Gulf Life, Reserve Life and Security Trust. He was a member of the Association of Physicians Assistants, the American Association of Respiratory Therapy, and the American Heart Association. He also had served as fire commissioner in Deerpark, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietname War. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Grippo; three sons, Frank Grippo and wife, Donna, Joseph Grippo and wife, Cynthia, Mark Grippo; seven grandchildren, Zack Grippo, Crystal Grippo, Christopher Weidenborner, Charlie Weidenborner, Joseph Grippo, Kara Grippo, and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Weidenborner. Memorial services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the American Heart Association in memory of Frank Grippo.

WILLIE GREEN HINSON
Willie Green Hinson, 76, of Marianna, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at his residence following a brief illness. He was formally from Hinson's Crossroads, near Vernon. He was a hospital adminstrator for 17 years at Jackson Hospital, and later retired as a Realtor/appraiser of Willie Hinson Realty. He enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing and hunting. He was an elder in First Presbyterian Church in Marianna. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marty Hinson and Authur Hinson; four sisters, Cora Kolmetz, Nella Bush, Mittie Morri and Lula Dean. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Barfield Hinson of Marianna; two daughters and their husbands, Sandy and Bill Hinson of Panama City, Jo Beth Hinson Bird and Greg Bird of St. Mary's, Ga.; four grandchildren, Joshua Hinson, Jessica Hinson, Brandon Bird and Charlsie Bird; two sisters, Orene Tanton Owens and Sarah Raley, both of Chipley. Funeral services will be held today, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. CDT at The First Presbyterian Church in Marianna with the Rev. Buran Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James and James Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. DAVID L. HOPKINS
Mr. David L. Hopkins, 90, of Lynn Haven, Fla, died Wednesday morning, Aug. 9, 2000, at his residence. He was born on Sept. 29, 1909, in Huntsville, Ala., and moved to Chattanooga, Tenn., at the age of 12. He was employed at Combustion Engineering for 30 years and at his retirement he was a general foreman. He was also a steward in the Brainerd Methodist Church in Chattanooga for 10 years and later became a deacon in Westminster Presbyterian Church. The last 10 years he spent in Chattanooga was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was elected the Hospitality Chairman for the Senior Wonderful Life Group. In 1995, he moved to Lynn Haven and joined the First Baptist Church of Panama City. Mr. Hopkins is survived by his wife, Bertha Z. Hopkins of Lynn Haven; two sons, David L. Hopkins Jr. and wife Barbara Ann of Chattanooga, Jimmie B. Hopkins and wife Karen Sue of Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Sally Hopkins Barger and husband Al of Lynn Haven; seven grandchildren, David Barger of Lynn Haven, Susan Barger Southerland of Panama City, Bradley Hopkins of Denver, Kimberly Hopkins Collier of Denver, Nancy Hopkins Hatcher of Pensacola, Mark Hopkins of Chattanooga and Tracy Hopkins Tindall of Chattanooga; and 14 great-grandchilren. Funeral services for Mr. Hopkins will be conducted on Friday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Craig Conner and the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Linda Maureen Johns, age 50, of 16303 Hwy. 231, Fountain, Fla., died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at a local hospital. She had been a life long resident of the area. She was a member of Fountain Assembly of God and a school bus driver for 25 years. Mrs. Johns loved fishing, yard sales and the outdoors. Most of all, she really loved her grandkids. CHARLES LONG JOYNER
Mr. Charles Long Joyner, 84, of 243 N. MacArthur Ave., Panama City, died Monday morning, Aug. 7, 2000, in a local nursing home. He was a lifelong native of Bay County. He was born in St. Andrews on Jan. 1, 1916, the son of the late Ethel Baker Joyner and Charles Long Joyner Sr. He graduated from Bay High School Class of 1933 and attended the University of Florida. He was a member of Company D 106th Engineers United States Army. He was employed at Tyndall Field, Wainwright Shipyard and the Naval Coastal System Center where he retired as an engineer in 1986. Mr. Joyner was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. As a past vestry member he served as junior warden, senior warden and treasurer. He also served as a lay reader for many years. He was active in the community assisting in the design and development of Oakland Terrace Park. He was also a little league assistant coach and Boy Scout master. Mr. Joyner is survived by his wife of more than 59 years, Jean Hopkins Joyner of Panama City; one daughter, Carolyn J. Fooshee and husband, Jack of Panama City; two sons, Charles L. Joyner III of Atlanta and Stephen B. Joyner of Panama City Beach; seven grandchildren, Kevin Howard and wife, Tami of Seattle, Wash., Angela Arnold and husband, Jason of Panama City, Christopher Joyner and wife, Krista of Gainesville, Ga., Laura Lee Joyner, Bryan Joyner, Michael Joyner and Amy Joyner of Atlanta; three great-grandchildren, Adrianna Howard, Bodhi Arnold and Erik Howard; and one sister, Arabelle Grant of Panama City. Memorial services will be held Friday, Aug. 11, at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church with Father Thomas C. Weller, officiating. Mrs. Norma Vilura Straus White, age 78, of 340 N. MacArthur Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at her home. She was born in Wewahitchka, Fla., and had been a resident of the area since 1941, coming here from Beacon, Hill, Fla. Mrs. White was a member of First United Methodist Church of Panama City. She worked her whole life as a civil service employee at Tyndall Air Force Base and retired from there. She enjoyed singing gospel songs, cooking, and traveling with her late husband, Jack W. White. But most of all she loved her family. Mrs. White is survived by her sisters, Maxine Straus Weaver and her husband Dewey and Mittie Straus Nutter and her husband Don, all of Panama City; nieces, Vivian Jewell Peggy Davis and her husband Kenneth, all of Panama City and Kathy Lavigne and her husband Harold of Concord, N.H.; a nephew, Walter Nutter and his wife Kathy of Northfield, Mass.; nine great-nieces and nephews which locally include Karen Claghorn and her husband Richard of Panama City and Ted Davis of Panama City; and six great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. White; and her parents, Walter J. and Eleanor N. Straus. Mrs. Alma Louise Davis of 2508 W. 26th St., Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000. Mrs. Davis was born in Mississippi, but was a long-time resident of Panama City and member of Cook-Memorial Baptist Church. She was a retired nurse and is remembered by many for her years of dedicated service at Lisenby Hospital. Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband, H.R. "Dick" Davis; her daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Murphy and her husband Ray; a son, Charles H. Emanuel and his wife Anita. She is also survived by: Jeanette Williams, Sharon Ford, Jim Ford, Shirley Colson, and her husband Peter; grandchildren: Pam Potter, Dena Obert, Mike Murphy, Beth Edson, Debbie Gregory, Ronnie Emanuel, Michael Emanuel, Louise Braunscheidel, Dempsey Hutchinson, Dennis Hutchinson, Linda Martin, and Kay Johnson; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her sons: R.L. Emanuel, Earl Hutchinson, and Thagard Hutchinson. Ruby Taylor Davis, 82, a loving mother, faithful friend, and compassionate counselor, formerly of Panama City, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, in McAllen, Texas, after a long battle with many illnesses. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1953 moving here from El Paso, Texas, before moving to McAllen 2 1/2 years ago. She was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Waverly Davis Jr. She is survived by a son, William Waverly Davis III and his wife, Glenda of Heideberg, Germany; daughter, Martha Davis Garlick and her husband, Roland of Mission, Texas; three grandsons: Daniel Garlick, John Garlick, William Andrew Davis; eight granddaughters: Joy Murillo, Joanna Reed, Susanna Garlick, Heather Davis, Dawn Davis, Crystal Davis, Heidi Davis, Anna Davis; eight great-grandchildren: Benjamin Garlick, Jonathan Garlick, Nathiel Garlick, Joshua Murillo, Caleb Murillo, Hannah Murillo, Krysten Garlick, Samantha Reed, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gloria Hall went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000. Born Feb. 5, 1954, to David and Winifred Hilton in Denver, Colo., she moved to Florida in 1963. Mrs. Hall married James Hall, Dec. 26, 1981, to this union were born their children: Polly, Jeremy, Grace and Matthew and extended family of Jimmy, John, Cleland, Lavern and Jamie. She leaves to mourn sisters; Linda, Loretta and Jeanet; brothers, David and Lee; also many friends and fellow church members. Mrs. Hall is preceded in death by her parents and son, John. She was a teacher at First Presbyterian Christian School and a member of Sand Hills Community Church.
