Woodrow Wilson Paul, age 83, of Bonifay, Fla., passed away Sept. 4, 2000, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Methodist Church with the Rev. Harry Collins and the Rev. Garry Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Church Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites under the direction of Peel Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aileen R. Paul. Survivors include two daughters, Wanda S. Harrison and Linda E. Odom both of Destin, Fla.; two sisters, Opal Goodman of Bonifay and Inez Toole of Graceville; grandchildren, Daniel Johnson, Michael Odom and Katie Odom; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Johnson and Bailey Johnson; a special friend, Marguerite Coleman of Dothan.

HAROLD LEE RUSSELL
Harold Lee Russell, D.D.S, Commander Ret., U.S. Naval Dental Corps., age 69, of 3016 W. 30th Ct., Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000 at a local hospital. He was born and raised in Los Angeles, Calif.; and served in the U. S. Navy for 24 years. He has been a resident of the area for 19 years. Dr. Russell was a graduate of University of Southern California Dental School. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Russell of Panama City; daughters, Catherine Gordon and her husband Chris of Ponte Vedra, Fla., Sarah Russell of Jacksonville, Fla.; sons, Robert Russell of Seattle, Wash., David Russell of EL Segundo, Calif.; a brother, J. Gordon Russell and his wife Rae of Camarillo, Calif.; step-sister, Phyllis Ryals and her husband Paul of Van Nuys. Calif..; grandchildren: Amanda Gordon, Christopher Gordon, Olivia Gordon; sister in law, Maureen Schickler of San Diego, Calif..; brothers-in-law: Thomas Manahan and his wife Joyce of Sioux Falls, S.D., Bro. David Manahan, O.S.B. of Collegeville, Minn.. and Martin Manahan and his wife Laurie of Walla Walla, Wash. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 8 at Kent - Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends between one hour prior to service time. ADAM IAN SPIRES
Mr. Adam Ian Spires, 19, of Panama City Beach, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, in Bay Medical Center as the result of a motorcycle accident. Born in Valley, Ala., he moved here in 1994 from Atlanta, Ga. He was employed with Local Color as a screen printer. He attended Gulf Coast Community College and was majoring in art. He attended East Gate Christian Fellowship Church and was a champion skim boarder. Adam is survived by his mother, Brenda Bailey and step-father, Shermann Bailey of Panama City Beach; his father, Gary Spires of Atlanta; six sisters, Wendy Bourassa and husband Allen of Atlanta, Sabrina Williamson and husband Travis, Katrina Spivey and husband Mark, Rhonda Lee and husband Jamie, Esther Zboran and husband Steve all of Atlanta, Amy Spires of Panama City Beach; nieces and nephews, Giovonni, Stevie and Angelica. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Sept. 8, in Southerland Family Funeral Home at noon with Pastor Robin Woodrum officiating. Burial will be held in Atlanta. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. to noon before the service.

THEODORE L. SPRANKLE
Funeral services for Theodore L. Sprankle, 67, of 10401 River Alley Road, Youngstown, who died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, in his home, will be held today at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Those desiring to may make a contribution to Hospice of Northwest Florida, the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, or the Humane Society of Bay County. Honorary pallbearers will be members of LLL Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.

GRADY WINDHAM
Grady Windham, age 71, of Alford, Fla., passed away from this life Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at his residence. He had resided in Alford since 1969 coming from Panama City. He was the past president of Carpenters Local 875. Funeral services will be held today, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Cloys Joiner officiating. Burial will follow in Kent Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. Survivors are as follows, two sons, Rex Windham of Chipley, Ray Windham of Round Lake, Fla.; two daughters, Kay W. Powell of Chipley and Gay W. Womble of Chipley; two sisters, Pearlie Mae McKinney of Chipley, Jannie Florence Hightower of Panama City; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.

CAROLYN PAIGE GOOCH BROCK
Mrs. Carolyn Paige Gooch Brock, 56, of Lynn Haven, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at her home. Born in Henderson, N.C., she was raised in Greenville, N.C. She lived in Selma, Ala., for four years before moving to Panama City in 1976. She was Methodist by faith and loved to play bridge with the Panama City Bridge Club. Mrs. Brock is survived by her husband, Rommie H. Brock of Lynn Haven; her mother, Willie Gooch of Henderson, N.C.; one daughter, Catherine Brock of Panama City; two sons, Richard Brock of Panama City Beach and Chris Brock and wife Jean of Lynn Haven; one brother, Richard Gooch of Henderson and one grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Steve Southerland II officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

WILLIAM LEE EUBANKS
Mr. William Lee Eubanks, 35, of Panama City, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, in a Mississippi hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Panama City and was a member of Northside Baptist Church. His mother and father, Jewel Marie and Charles W. Eubanks, precede him in death. Mr. Eubanks is survived by his stepmother, Frances Eubanks; three brothers, Woodford C. Eubanks, Michael Eubanks and Travis Dawson; two sisters, Angel Rollins and Connie Hoffman all of Panama City. A memorial service will be conducted Friday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel. His brother, Mr. Woodford C. Eubanks will conduct the eulogy.

W. GLENN KENT
W. Glenn Kent, age 47, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000. He was a native of Gastonia, N.C., and formerly of Mexico Beach. He was a self-employed electrician and attended the Faith Assembly Church in Destin. Glenn will be sadly missed by his children, Angel and son-in-law Brian Buchanan of Gastonia, N.C., Elana Rees of Panama City, Mary Barbara Kent of Panama City; son, Chris Kent of Gastonia; mother, Mary T. Sheets of Mexico Beach; father, Wilton and his wife Eloise Kent of Chattahoochee, Fla.; sister, Karen Kent Fontaine and brother-in-law, James P. Fontaine of Panama City; grandchildren, Christiana and Zachary Buchanan; niece, Rachel Fontaine; nephews, Tradd Patchell and Nicholas Fontaine. Sharing in this loss also many special relatives and wonderful friends. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at Faith Assembly Church in Destin with the Rev. Toy Arnett officiating. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, for family and friends.

MARVIN L. MERRITT, SR.
Mr. Marvin L. Merritt, Sr., age 81, formerly of Rochester, N.Y., passed away after a brief illness, Friday, Sept. 1, 2000. He had worked for General Motors, Rochester Products Division, for 37 years as a senior engineer, after moving to Panama City. Mr. Merritt worked for Judge Ellinor, Marine Institute, Haney Vocational School and for the past 12 years at Life Management as a friend and teacher. He was a member of Optimist Club, Elks Club of Rochester, N.Y., and was a league bowler, breaking 300 several times as well as having a 200-plus average. Mr. Merritt leaves behind his beloved wife and partner of 63 years, Janette A. Merritt of Panama City; sons: Marvin L. Merritt, Jr., Barry S.Merrit, Terence K. Merritt, and Bradley A. Merritt; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela A. Merritt. A private memorial service was held and officiated by the Rev. Charles Key. A graveside service will be held at a later date for family and friends.

MARGIE KREEGER PHELPS
Ms. Margie Kreeger Phelps, age 49, of 700 Transmitter Road, Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area for 29 years, coming here Ohio. Ms. Phelps was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She is survived by her son, John Phelps of Panama City. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, at Messiah Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dennis L. Schmidt officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Margie Phelps Fund c/o Messiah Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran Church.

JEAN CHAPMAN ROLL
Mrs. Jean Chapman Roll, age 73, of 2141 Pittman Drive, Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since 1981, coming here from Arlington, Va., where she worked for the Dept. of the Navy. Mrs. Roll was a member of the Northside Baptist Church, Homemaker Sunday School Class, Young at Heart, N.A.R.F.E., and T.O.P.S. No. 217. She was an avid reader who loved her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Roll is survived by her husband, Russell T. Roll of Panama City; two sons, Claude C. Roll and his wife Betty of Valrico, Fla., and Theodore F. Roll and his friend Lynn of Lutz, Fla.; three daughters, Veronica L. Hinkle and her husband Doug of Auburn, Ga., Deborah J. Hauser and her husband Karl of Panama City, and Ruth Kanuch and her husband Steve of Lynn Haven; sisters, Sarah A. Inscoe of Prince George, Va. and Alma L. James of Bealeton, Va.; brothers, Claudius E. Chapman and his wife Joann of Bealeton, Va. and Jacob H. Chapman and his wife Mildred of Crozet, Va.; seven grandchildren, Lauren Hauser, Vann Hauser, Kyle Hauser, Carson Campione, Donovan Roll, Melissa Roll, and Elizabeth Roll; and a great-grandchild, Austin Maddox. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 8, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Moore and the Rev. Lewis Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Steve Kanuch, Karl Hauser, Richard Coiner, Doug Hinkle, Donovan Roll and Red Brown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Sept. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the Northside Baptist Church Building Fund.
