Funeral services for Mrs. Beatrice Amanda Reynolds, age 86, of Panama City, Fla., who passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, will be held at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 15, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Fred Sale officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

NETA SUE JEREMIAH
Mrs. Neta Sue Jeremiah, 87, of Myakka City, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at her daughter's home in Myakka City. Sue was born in Fountain, Fla., on Feb. 26, 1913, and lived in Panama City for most of her life. She had been living with her daughter Marie since 1995 and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Panama City. She was also a member of Panama City Garden Club. Sue was a very devoted wife, mother and friend and we will truly miss her. Memories of her will always be with us and she will hold a special place in our hearts until we are with her again. She is survived by one son, John P. Jeremiah of Pensacola; two daughters, Nora Batts of Orlando and Marie Nelson of Myakka City; one sister, Betty Westcott-Plummer of St. Petersburg; five grandchildren, Michelle and Kevin Jeremiah, Brent Sapp, Keith and Ryan Nelson. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ross Hilton officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Kevin Jeremiah, Brent Batts, Keith Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Bill Lewis, and Jimmy Smith.

LURIA MILTON 'JIGGS' JOHNSON
Luria Milton "Jiggs" Johnson, 85, of Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 12, 2000, in Plant City, Fla. He was a lifelong resident of Panama City and was a retired homebuilder. He also worked in real estate. He was Protestant by faith and was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Doris Stuckey Johnson of Panama City; two daughters, Joanna Louise Johnson of Titusville, Fla., Margaret Johnson Waldroff and husband Mark of Plant City, Fla.; one sister, Dorothy Morgan of Youngstown; four grandchildren: William Waldroff, Lauren Waldroff, Philip Waldroff and Megan Waldroff all of Plant City. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

SHARON L. SNYDER
Mrs. Sharon L. Snyder, age 62, of 111 S. Charlene Dr., Callaway, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at her home. She had been a resident of the area since 1972, coming here from Michigan. Mrs. Snyder was the first woman commissioner and mayor of the City of Callaway. She served two terms as commissioner in the 1970's. A 1976 News Herald article described her using a phrase borrowed from a conquering Roman Emperor, "Vini, Vidi, Vici", which means she came, she saw, she conquered. She is survived by her husband, John E. Snyder of Callaway; two daughters, Cheryl Wilson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Pamela Wages of Panama City, Fla.; two sons, Richard Snyder of Seattle, Wash., and Erin Snyder of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren: Bennie, Lisa, Eric, Robert, Michelle, and Sarah Lynn; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 15, 2000, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Spence officiating.

KIMBLE CHARLES BAKER
Mr. Kimble Charles Baker, 46, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died in Jackson County, Fla., Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000. Mr. Baker moved to Panama City in 1996 from Houston, Texas. He was a manager for a travel agency. Mr. Baker loved camping, beaches, gardening, cats, dogs, and his many friends. Survivors include his father, George E. Baker of Brandon, Fla.; one sister, Susan Baker of Brandon; one brother, Doug Baker and wife Carolyn of Houston; one aunt, Lorraine Simms of Scroggins, Texas; two nieces; two nephews; a special friend, Dewayne Richardson of Panama City Beach. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial may be made to Panama City B.A.S.I.C. or favorite charity.

ELBERT JUNIOR BAXLEY
Mr. Elbert Baxley, 75, of Port St. Joe, Fla., died in Gulf Pines Hospital Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000. Mr. Baxley retired from St. Joe Telephone Company after 32 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Port St. Joe. He devoted his life to caring for his family and his work. Mr. Baxley was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph C. and Winnie B. Baxley; two brothers, W.C. and Wayne Baxley; and one sister, Ruby B. McGee. Survivors include his three children: Sandra Baxley Chafin and husband William Jr. of Port St. Joe, Russell Elbert Baxley and wife Julie of Ringgold, Ga., Terry Franklin Baxley and wife DeAnna of Cleveland, Ohio; the mother of his children, Mabel Allen of Springfield; five brothers: W.H. (Hosea) Baxley and wife Oma of Crawfordville, Fla., Cecil Baxley and wife Louise of Arley, Ala., Ed Baxley and wife Betty of Kynesville, Fla., Johnny Baxley and wife Marie of Marianna, Sherman Baxley and wife Vernell of Grand Ridge, Fla.; seven grandchildren: Mitzi C. Adkinson and husband Rodney of Indianopolis, Ind., Laura Chafin, and Sunnilee C. Owens and husband Brad all of Satsuma, Ala., Chris R. Baxley of Ringgold, Elizabeth L. Baxley of Dallas, Texas, Sandra S. Baxley and Stephen T. Baxley both of Cleveland, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Charles Adkinson and Hannah Adkinson both of Indianapolis, Ind.; several nephews and nieces and a host of cousins; and a special caregiver, Helen Rogers. Services for Mr. Baxley will be held on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 3 p.m. EDT in First Baptist Church in Port St. Joe with the Rev. Brent Vickery and Howard Browning officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Kynesville. The family will receive friends at the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home today, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to noon CDT and 6 to 8 p.m. EDT in the First Baptist Church in Port St. Joe.

FRANCES COPE
Frances Cope, age 82, of Chipley, Fla., passed from this life on Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, in Chipley, Fla. She had resided in Chipley since 1932, coming from Holmes County, Fla. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Holmes Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Sunday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. in the Holmes Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Singletary officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends today, Sept. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wachob Chapel. She is survived by a stepmother, Eunis Snell of Chipley; one brother, Millard Snell of Leesburg, Ga.; and two stepbrothers, Sidney Snell of Chipley and Jerry Snell of Chipley.

Mrs. Luleen M. Ellis, age 79, of 1400 W. 11th St., Panama City, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at a local retirement facility. She had been a resident of the area since 1946 and was a member of the Parker United Methodist Church. Mrs. Ellis is survived by a son, Dennis Ellis and his wife Susan of Panama City; a daughter, Betty Smith and her husband Larry of Chipley; sisters, Lounette Harrison and Loretta Anderson, both of Caryville, Fla.; a grandson, Farion Ellis of Panama City; a granddaughter, Candice Humphreys of Panama City; and a special friend, Wilda of Panama City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Ellis. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Malson officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Ronnie Cook, Leslie Cook, David Yates, Glen Harcus, Lavaughn Ray, and Larry Mathis. Mrs. Josephine Rebecca Ellison, age 79, of 3303 B. St., Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at her home. She had been a resident of the area for eight years, coming here from New Jersey. Mrs. Ellison is survived by a daughter, JoAnn DeCrescenzo and her husband Larry of Panama City; granddaughters: Dawn Marie DeCrescenzo, Amber Melissa Yarbrough, and Tony DeCrescenzo; and great-grandchildren: Devin Tyler Smith, Dallas Lawrence DeCrescenzo, and Meriah Lauryn Yarbrough. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today, Sept. 16, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Curtis officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Sept. 16, 2000, from 3 to 4 p.m., an hour prior to service time.
