Clara Paul Webb, age 95, of Panama City, passed away Sept. 18, 2000. Mrs. Webb was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Panama City. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at 10 a.m. in Peel Funeral Home Chapel in Bonifay with the Rev. Mitch Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Steverson Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home Chapel in Bonifay. Mrs. Webb was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Panama City. She was preceded in death by husband, John A. Webb; daughter, Catherine Webb; brother, Theron French; sisters, Estell Hall, Clora Miller, Xuripha Hand, and David Koontz. She is survived by sons, Doyd and wife Vivian Webb of Panama City, Walter Webb of Chattahoochee, Paul Allen Webb of Warren, Ohio; daughters, Evelean and husband Frank Petrella of Joliet, Ill., Winifred Koontz of Crescent, Iowa; sisters, Marie Clark, Lillian Brannon, Dorah Johnson all of Bonifay; 10 grandchildren, Connie Simmons, Debbie Juhant, Clara Dickens, Allen Petrella, Larry Petrella, Michael Petrella, Jason Webb, Bradley Webb, Kristine Webb and Megan Webb; and seven great-grandchildren.

RONALD L. "RON-HECKMAN" HECK SR.
Mr. Ronald L. Heck Sr., age 65, of Panama City, Fla., went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1979, coming here from Louisville, Ky. Mr. Heck worked as a welder for Griffin and Company in Louisville, Ky. for 17 1/2 years. He also worked for Meco International, Berg Pipe, and General Scientific Corp., Panama City, Fla. Mr. Heck was a member of Northside Baptist Church, the St. Andrews Masonic Lodge No. 212, and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 37 Years, Patsy Heck of Panama City, Fla.; a son, Ron Heck Jr. of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Kathy Hayes and her husband Tom of Pekin, Ind.; a sister, Betty Cooper of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, William L. Heck and his wife Lynn of Homosassa, Fla., and James R. Heck and his wife Sharon of Louisville, Ky.; two grandchildren, Stephanie Garber and Jack Hayes; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 23 at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Moore and the Rev. Lewis Miller officiating. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to Northside Baptist Church Building Fund, the Derek Kelley Youth Fund of Northside Baptist Church, the American Heart Foundation, or to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Mr. Heck.

SARAH FRANCES SHEALY
Mrs. Sarah Frances Shealy, 55, of Fountain, Fla., died Tuesday night, Sept. 19, 2000, at her residence. Mrs. Shealy was a lifelong resident of the Fountain area. She was retired from the Bay County School Board in the transportation department. Mrs. Shealy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Panama City. Her family was the joy of her life. She was known to all of them as Mama and Maw Maw. Survivors include her husband, Mervin Shealy of Fountain; her mother, Mrs. Gladys Clements of Compass Lake; five daughters, Kathy Waters and husband Doug of Alford, Lisa Winsett of Fountain, Lynn Scott of Fountain, Joy Hensel and husband Joe of Cantonement, Fla., Brenda Bray and husband John of Crestview; one son, Larry Shealy and wife Anita of Marianna; three sisters: Louise Broxton of Youngstown, Carolyn Scott of Compass Lake, Wanda White of Utah; four brothers, Robert Clements of Panama City, Joseph Clements of Compass Lake, Wayne Clements of Panama City, Aubrey Clements of Compass Lake; 11 grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces; a host of cousins. Services for Mrs. Shealy will be held Friday, Sept. 22, at 10 a.m. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Mr. Clarence Robert Clements, Bishop Clay Rooks, and Mr. Roger Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Compass Lake Cemetery with Marianna Chapel directing. The family will receive friends this evening, Sept. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida, 2917 B Optimist Drive, Marianna, FL 32448.

Funeral services for Dorothy Elizabeth Thompson, 74, of 14240 Louise Drive, Southport, who died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, in her home, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Eden officiating. Interment will follow in the Vickery Cemetery, Cherokee, Fla.

CAROLYN WISE CORBIN
Carolyn Wise Corbin, 78, of Panama City Beach, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, in a local hospital. She was a 1939 graduate of Plains High School. She had been a resident of Panama City Beach for 15 years, moving here from Clearwater, Fla. She was a member of the Avalon United Methodist Church in Albany, Ga. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harold W. Corbin of Panama City Beach; two sons, Steve Corbin and his wife Cathy of Birmingham, Ala., Dick Corbin and his wife Gloria of Spanish Fort, Ala.; three grandchildren: Tyler Corbin, Casey Corbin, Hal Corbin; three sisters: Martha Purcell of Orange Park, Fla., Nancy Edwards of Pensacola, Fla., JoAnn Gay of Dawson, Ga.; and a sister-in-law, Betty Wise of Bronwood, Ga. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. EDT in the Floral Memory Gardens, Albany, Ga., with the Rev. Tim Steffan officiating.

MYRTLE M. DAFFIN
Myrtle M. Daffin, born July 17, 1902 in Horseheads, N.Y., died in Atlanta, Ga., on Aug. 26, 2000. She grew up in and around Sayre, Pa., and in the early 1930s entered the Federal Civil Service at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. There she met a young Marine, Robert Dale Daffin III, and they were married. After World War I, she followed her husband to Falfurrias, Texas, where he was employed in the Border Patrol. It was there that her husband was called to the Christian ministry. Following his graduation from Columbia Seminary in Atlanta, Ga., she accompanied him to pastorates in Tippah County, Mass., Halstead, Pa., Wilkers-Barre, Pa., and Ajo, Ark. Upon retirement, they lived in Panama City, and she was a member of the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church for several years. In 1977, she and her husband moved to Atlanta, Ga., to be nearer to her son, Leon Hall, who, with his wife, Anne, survive her. She is also survived by a grandson, John Hall, and three great-grandchildren: Joshua, Jason, and Kriston. Graveside services will be held today at 10 a.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Douglas officiating.

ASHLIE TAYLOR
Ms. Ashlie Taylor, 20, of Panama City, died Wednesday in Virginia. Born June 9, 1980, in Montgomery, Ala., she moved to Panama City in 1987. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Judy and Harold Ammons; her father, Bruce Taylor; one daughter, Madeleine Taylorann Doelger; one brother, Christopher Joseph Rasmus; one sister, Andrea Marie Taylor; two stepsisters, Melissa Ammons and Holladay Ammons; two uncles, Thomas Adair and Jonathon Adair. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home North Side Chapel with Pastor Tom Williams, officiating. The family will receive friends this evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.

VIOLET GASKIN 'SISTER' GRADDY
Violet Gaskin "Sister" Graddy, of Wewahitchka, died Sept. 22, 2000, at her residence. Mrs. Graddy was a lifelong resident of Wewahitchka, born Sept. 23, 1927. She was the owner and agent of Gaskin-Graddy Insurance Agency since 1959. Mrs. Graddy was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Wewahitchka, and a member of the Eastern Star, recently receiving her 50-year membership pin. She graduated and attended Florida State College for Women, receiving a BS degree in home economics from Florida State University in 1948. She returned to Wewahitchka and married L. Frank Graddy Jr., in April 1955 and together they operated Gaskin-Graddy Insurance Agency and were involved in the ownership of the Wewahitchka State Bank. Her love for her family, friends and Gulf County were evident in the way she lived her life, as all of these brought joy to her life. She was known to all as "Sister." She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Frank Graddy Jr., and her parents, Dave and Annie Gaskin. She is survived by one son, J. Frank Graddy and wife Sherry of Gainesville; one daughter, Ann Baxter and husband Billy of Cape San Blas; one brother, David Carl Gaskin and wife Tweeta of Wewahitchka; two grandchildren Jared and Emily Graddy of Gainesville; nieces and nephews: Jerry Gaskin and wife Sharon, Pam Sumner and husband Bill, Jan Traylor and husband Billy, all of Wewahitchka; great nieces and nephews: Will and Ed Sumner, Crystal and Jade Gaskin and Champion and Jana Traylor; a host of cousins and a large extended family including two special friends, June Green and Cindy Traylor, and wonderful neighbors. Active pallbearers are Robert Miller, Tony Justice, Roger Jones, Bruce Husband, Steven Brown and Ray Dickens. Honorary pallbearers are Harrell Holloway, Wilson Stevens, Bo Jones, George Core, Jerry Kelly, Doug Birmingham, Terry Linton and the administrative council of the First United Methodist Church in Wewahitchka. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m today, Sept. 24, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church in Wewahitchka with the Rev. Harry Johnson, the Rev. John Kramer and the Rev. William Parsons officiating. Visitation will be at the Graddy home, 411 Highway 71 North, Wewahitchka. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Music Fund. Funeral services are under the direction of Comforter Funeral Home.

JOSEPHINE HARRIS
Mrs. Josephine Harris, 75, of 1507 Iowa Ave., died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000. Sister Harris was born May 7, 1925, in Apalachicola, Fla. She was the seventh of twelve children born to Will Oscar Harris and Rosa Lee Allen Harris. She married at an early age and to this union one son was born, Harry Herrings Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Harry Herrings of California; three sisters: Olivia H. Young of Riveria Beach, Fla., Thelma McCathern (Ewing) of Lynn Haven and Rosa Lee Langston (Albert) of Panama City; three sisters-in-law: Lessie Bell Harris and Myrtle Harris, both of Panama City and Sarah Harris of Rochester, N.Y.; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be held Monday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. in Battle Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Lemuel Glover, officiating. Interment will be held in Snow Hill Cemetery in Apalachicola. Public visitation will be held today at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends at the home of Ewing and Thelma McCathern of 1507 Iowa Ave., Lynn Haven.

NINA RUTH KIRKLAND
Mrs. Nina Ruth Kirkland, 77, of 187 Concord Circle, in Panama City, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at her home. She has been a resident of the area for 44 years, coming here from Gulfport, Miss. Mrs. Kirkland was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City. She was a member of the Panama City Woman's Club, and held every office in the club that could be held. She worked with the Red Stocking Revue as the costume chairman for more than 20 years. She was also instrumental in getting Hospice started through the Woman's Club. Mrs. Kirkland was a member of the Panama City Garden Club since the 1950s serving every office in that club. She also worked with the Azalea Trail. She worked for the Cooperative Extension Service for the University of Florida and the Bay County Council. Mrs. Kirkland attended the University of Florida majoring in home economics, and held several state and local offices. She loved to bowl and participated in many tournaments all over the country and Canada and gave much of her time to the leagues as league secreatry. Mrs. Kirkland played the organ, piano and taught piano lessons. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Paul J. Kirkland of Panama City; three daughters: Linda Kirkland of Panama City, Pamala K. Kirkland of Jacksonville and Nina Jane Millirons of Boynton Beach; a son, James Alan Kirkland of Panama City; a sister, Elizabeth Shows of Laurel, Miss.; a brother, C.J. Howse and his wife Barbara of Laurel, Miss.; four grandchildren: David Kirkland, Leiane Guy, Nina Kay Schultz and Kristian Millirons; and two great-grandchildren, Charlie Schultz and Sara Schultz. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating. Interment will follow.
