Mr. Amos L. Paul, 63, of Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a lifetime resident of this area and worked for Steel City for 20 years. He worked 17 years as an umpire and coaching little league baseball with local teams. His parents, William Augustus Paul and Jennie Bell Paul; one brother, Howard Paul and three sisters, Essie Mae Swearingen, Gussie Jane Jackson and Vernon Jimmerson, precede Mr. Paul in death. Mr. Paul is survived by his wife, Wynell Paul; two sons, Phillip Paul and friend Sheila Liner and Kenneth Paul all of Panama City; two daughters, Linda Galarza and husband Iggy of Panama City Beach, Wanda Whitehead and husband Lester of Reidsville, Ga.; three sisters, Euna Mae Skinner and Euretha Smitherman, both of Panama City, and Vonnie Griffis of St. Augustine, Fla.; six grandchildren, Iggy Galarza Jr., Melissa Galarza, Sabrina Whitehead, Leslie Whitehead, Hannah Paul, Emily Paul and many other extended family members. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Paul's son-in-law, Mr. Lester Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Ignalio "Iggy" Galarza,, Ignalio "Iggy" Galarza Jr., Clarence H. Hand, Curtis Long, Steven Long and Roy Long. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

WANDA CHRISTINE STEPHENSON
Mrs. Wanda Christine Stephenson, age 60, of 5923 Suzanna Drive, Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at her home. She had been a lifetime resident of the area , Protestant by faith, and loved to play bingo. Mrs. Stephenson is survived by her husband, Leslie O. Stephenson of Panama City; a sister, Grace Jefferson of California; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Henry Hazard officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Oct. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m.

EVELYN WHITE
Mrs. Evelyn White, 85, of Wewahitchka passed away Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at her home. She has been a lifelong resident of Gulf County and was a member of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter B. White. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lorene and Junior Strange of Wewahitchka; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held graveside at Roberts Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. CDT today, Oct. 3, conducted by the Rev. Harry Johnson. She will lie in state at the cemetery thirty minutes before the funeral service.

UNA CHRISTINE 'CHRIS' FLOWERS
Ms. Una Christine "Chris" Flowers, age 40, of the Sand Hills, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at her residence. She was born May 28, 1960, in Tallahassee, Fla. Ms. Flowers is survived by her two sons, Christopher Pearson and his wife Jessica and Wesley Pearson, all of the Sand Hills, Fla.; two grandsons, Christopher and Thomas Pearson, also of the Sand Hills; her mother, Jo Brickhouse and her husband Eugene of the Sand Hills; her father, Max Register of Virginia; her stepfather, Thomas Langford of Callaway, Fla.; her three brothers, Gary Register and his wife Brenda of Springfield, Fla., Larry Register and his wife Ann and Thomas Langford and his wife Darcie, all of Youngstown, Fla.; two sisters, Dot Campbell and her husband Paul and Tammy Conley and her husband Billy, all of Youngstown, Fla.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 5, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Tom Corley, Richard Duncan, Rob Chisholm, Charles Smith, Glen Nelson and Shaun Mullins. Honorary pallbearers will include her friends and co-workers form Trane Corp. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, today, Oct. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m.

DOROTHY MARIE FRAHER
Mrs. Dorothy Marie Fraher, age 75, of 8623 N. Lagoon Drive, Panama City Beach, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at a local nursing facility. She was a seasonal resident of the area for many years and moved here permanently in 1992 from Rocky Hill, Conn. Mrs. Fraher was a dressmaker and owned and operated Mr. Paul's Bridal Shop in Rocky Hill, Conn. and was a member of St. James Catholic Church also Rocky Hill, Conn. She was a generous women who would do anything for anyone. Mrs. Fraher is survived by her husband, John Fraher of Panama City Beach; a daughter, Susan Agnes Fraher of Westfield, Mass.; several brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5.

Earline Lindsey Philippi of Tupper Lake, N.Y., formerly of Panama City, died Oct. 2, 2000, after an extended illness. Survivors include her mother, Talitha Lindsey; sister, Kathryn Quickel of Panama City; brother, Lt. Col (retired) Ira H. Lindsey Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, in Tupper Lake, N.Y.

DORA 'BAY' DAVIS
Ms. Dora "Bay" Davis, 63, of 3806 E. 2nd St., died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, in a Birmingham, Ala., hospital. She was a native of Baltimore, Md., and a resident of Panama City for many years. She attended the public schools of Bay County. She retired from the Bay County School System in the food service department and St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of choir number one, financial secretary of the New Gulf Coast Association and Progressive (M & E) State Convention (Sr. Women Ministry). She was preceded in death by her son, Richard B. Davis; sister, Mary Davis Lee; parents, Deacon Daniel Davis Sr. and Mother Dora Davis. She is survived by her brother, Daniel Davis Jr. (Rocell); granddaughter, Shereatha Davis; a very devoted nephew, Arvester Davis; a loving and caring niece, Toni M. Lee; other nieces and nephews, S. Sgt. Dana Hughes, Cynithia Davis, Marilyn Mitchell, Anita Brown, Helen Andrew, Jeanette Clark, Madison K. Robinson, Elder Ray Davis, Justic Omorinola, Eric Mitchell and Arvester Davis Jr; two great-grandchildren; a very close friend, Minister Meriam Ruth Newsome; three godchildren, Cheryl Roberts, Angelia McRoberts and Ronald A. Newsome; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Ms. Davis will be held Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at 11 a.m. in Greater Friendship Missionary Church with Dr. H.T. Rhim officiating. The remains will repose at the church this evening from 6 to 8 p.m., and will lie in state at the Church on Friday from 9 a.m. until service time. Mr. Jim D. Gharst, 70, of Youngstown, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at his home. Born in Decatur, Ill., he moved here in 1978 from Lake Park, Ga. He was retired from the U.S.A.F. and the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Gharst of Youngstown; four sons, Lyndle Gharst and wife Beverly of Oreana, Ill., Kurk Gharst and Karl Gharst both of Panama City, Krea Gharst and wife Judy of Youngstown; two daughters, Dianne Gray and husband Terry of Lake Park, Ga., and Kyla Cobb and husband Robert of Teleco, Tenn.; one brother, Burl Gharst and wife Donna of Decatur, Ill.; 15 grandchilren. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. in Bayou George Cemetery with the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating. Full military honors will be accorded at graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
