The Rev. Alma R. James, 87, of Marianna, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 3, 2000, in Marianna. A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hamp James. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Leland and Lanet James of Marianna; two daughters, Floyce Baxter and her husband Willie Paul of Marianna and Ginger Ingram of Marianna; two sisters, Ruth Cole of Lynn Haven and Ester Booth of Marianna; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 5, at First Assembly of God Church in Marianna with the Rev. Stephen Potter and the Rev. Jack Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memory Gardens with James and James Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contribution to First Assembly of God Church Building Fund.

KENNETH M. 'JACK' TOOLE
Kenneth M. "Jack" Toole, age 52, of 1375 Rudd Road, Cottondale, Fla., went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000. He was born Sept., 25, 1948, in Jackson County, Fla. He served in the United States Marines Corps during the Vietnam Conflict, worked for 30 years at Lehigh Furniture and was recently employed by the Northwest Florida Community Hospital. He was a member of Sapp Community Holiness Church. He served there as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He is preceded in death by his son, James Christopher Toole; and his father, Pruitt Albert Toole Sr. He is survived by his mother, Eunice Toole, his loving wife of 33 years, Sandra Sharon Toole; his daughter, Kimberly Joy Toole, and his son, Kenneth Michael (Mickey) Toole Jr. He is also survived by four brothers, Eugene Toole and wife Doris of Graceville, Ralph Toole and his wife Freda of Chipley, Fla., Pat Toole and his wife Nancy of Greenville, S.C.; Bennie Toole and his wife Barbara, Chipley; two sisters, Peggy Stillwell and her husband Bob of Tallahassee, Becky Wright and her husband Jerome of Marianna; his brother-in-law, Steve Corbin and his wife Perla of Miami. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and wonderful friends who loved him dearly. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., today, Oct. 5, at Sapp Church with the Rev. Donnie Hussey, the Rev. Cloys Joiner, Gerald Vickery and Chubby Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Sapp Church Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. Those asked to serve as active pallbearers are Steve Toole, Ricky Toole, Jody Toole, Andy Taylor, Eric Toole and Andy Mercer. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Broom, Willie Corbin, Bobby Grice, James Gilmore, Fred Watson, Don Livingston, Donnell Davis, Chris Srnith and Eric Brown.

DANNY MARVIN HASSIG
Mr. Danny Marvin Hassig, age 61, of 225 Elmore St. in Blountstown died early Thursday morning, Oct. 5, 2000. Mr. Hassig was born in Grand Junction, Colo., and had lived in Calhoun County since November 1999. He served in the United States Coast Guard and was a retired truck driver, a member of American Legion, a retired member of Teamsters and a member of Bristol First Baptist Church. Survivors included his wife, Lynda Hassig of Blountstown; one son, Danny Hassig of Blountstown; three daughters: Kim Peacock, Wendy Guilford, Stephanie Moravek all of Blountstown; mother, Margaret Scofield Hassig of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Jerry Dailey of Denver, Colo., Mary Eldridge of Northglenn, Colo; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m. CST from First Baptist Church in Bristol with the Rev. Shelly Chandler officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation. The family will receive friends today, Oct. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. CST at Peavy Funeral Home in Blounstown.

DORA 'BAY' DAVIS
Ms. Dora "Bay" Davis, 63, of 3806 E. 2nd St. died Tuesday Sept. 26, 2000, in a Birmingham, Ala., hospital. Funeral services for Ms. Davis will be held today, Oct. 6, 2000, at 11 a.m. in Greater Friendship Missionary Church with Dr. H.T. Rhim officiating. The remains will lie in state at the Church today from 9 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 3806 E. 2nd St.

JOHNNIE McNEAL SR.
Retired Sgt. Major Johnnie McNeal Sr., 50, of Seattle, Wash., formerly of Panama City, passed away peacefully in his Washington state home Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000. Born in Slocomb, Ala., he moved with his parents to this area during his pre-teen years. He attended the public schools in Bay County and graduated from Rosenwald High School. He received the bachelor's and the master's degrees from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. He was master mason and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Seattle. Retired Sgt. Major Johnnie McNeal Sr. served his country in the United States Army, retiring from duty February 2000. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of many years, Lenora McNeal; his mother, Ruth McNeal of Rock Hill, S.C.; five daughters: Andrea McNeal of Seattle, Chasity McNeal of Indianapolis, Ind., Sherry Murray of Memphis, Tenn., Terry Murray Whalen, and Markita Murray and their mother, Ann Murray of Bloomington, Ind.; one son, Johnnie McNeal Jr. of Evansville, Ind.; four brothers: Franklin (Lydia) McNeal of Tampa, Bobby (Piquieta) White of Panama City, Freddie (Sarah) Finch of Lynn Haven and Phillip Finch of Rock Hill, S.C.; seven sisters: Ann (Lonnie Sr.) Powell of Tampa, Amy (Billy) Long of Alameda, Calif., Marcia (James) Wiley of Rock Hill S.C., Linda Laird of Orlando, Carol (Greg Sr.) Harley of Rock Hill, Cathy (Rudy) White of Tampa and Doshie (Karl) Walker of Honolulu, Hawaii; an uncle, Roy McNeal Sr.; one aunt, five grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services for Retired Sgt. Major Johnnie McNeil Sr. will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at St. Johns Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rufus L. Wood Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemtery. Public visitation on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the funeral. The family will receive friends at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Pequieta White, 713 Satsuma Ave.

JAMES ADAM NICKSON
Mr. James Adam Nickson was born Sept. 7, 1925, to the late Mamie and Teddy Nickson in Liberty County, Fla. He was a long time resident of Port St. Joe, and a member of Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church. He departed this life on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000. He leaves to cherish his memory a dear and devoted wife, Almeta G. Nickson of Port St. Joe; two daughters, Prenita P. Rolack of Pensacola and Sonjia L. Nickson of Jacksonville; one granddaughter, Marquetta Rolack of Pensacola; one brother, Edward Nickson of Panama City; three sisters: Jeanetta Plowden and Bernice Nickson, both of Sacramento, Calif., and Geraldine Powell of Panama City; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 p.m. EDT at Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church with interment to follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. He will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until funeral time.

ANTHONY J. PAGANO
Mr. Anthony J. Pagano, age 56, of 2914 Laurie Ave., Panama City Beach, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at a local nursing facility. He had been a resident of the area for seven years, coming here from Atlanta, Ga. Mr. Pagano served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was Methodist by faith. He was a chef and loved cooking. Mr. Pagano is survived by his mother: Cona Hipps of Panama City Beach, Fla.; step-father: Tom Hipps of Panama City Beach, Fla.; three sons: Paul Newton, Patrick Pagano, and Grant Pagano, all of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother: Charles Pagano of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister: Jo Ann Pagano of Panama City, Fla.; and three grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at Stiffler-Hamby Funeral Home Chapel in Augusta, Ga., with the Rev. Emory Gilbert officiating.

EDGAR 'DUTCH' TIEMANN
Edgar "Dutch" Tiemann, 81, of Panama City, passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, in a local hospital. Mr. Tiemann was a native of Evansville, Ind., and had moved to Panama City from Naples, Fla., in 1980. He was a veteran of World War II, a retired Park Ranger with the State of Florida, Division of Forestry and a member of Northside Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Faye Scarbrough Tiemann of Panama City; four step-sons: Terry Cates and his wife Gwen of Elliott City, Md., Claude Scarbrough and his wife Debbie of Maryville, Tenn., Gene Scarbrough and his wife Jennie of Panama City and Charles Scarbrough of Charlotte, N.C.; a step-daughter, Barbara Grimes of Brunswick, Ga.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Tiemann's family will hold a Celebration of Life Service at a later date.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. "Pops" Elmer James Balsters, age 75, of 3035 Jenks Ave., Panama City, Fla., who died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Mr. Jerry Klinger officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at their home, 3035 Jenks Ave., Panama City, Fla., after noon, Friday, Oct. 6. ROBERT WILLIAM JOHNSON
Robert William Johnson, age 67, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, in Tallahassee. A native of Washington County, Fla., he had lived in Tallahassee since 1955. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, was a sheet metal mechanic with Clemons Heating and Air Conditioning. Robert was a member of Fort Braden Pentacostal Holiness Church. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Johnson; two sons, Roger W. Johnson and Ronnie W. Johnson both of Tallahassee; daughters, Sandra J. Harvell of Tallahassee and Wilma L. Luna of Apalachicola; mother, Frances Johnson of Wausau; brothers: Raymond Johnson of Sanford, Fla., Aaron Johnson of Stewart, Fla., Thomas Johnson of Milton, Lawrence Johnson of Tallahassee and Alton Johnson of Fernandina Beach; sisters, Jaunita Johns of Fountain, Thelma Shoulders and Verna Johnson both of Tallahassee; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today, Oct. 7, at 3 p.m. EDT, in Fort Braden Pentecostal Holiness Church in Tallahassee with burial to follow in Tallahassee Memory Gardens.

LESTER EUGENE McFARREN
Lester Eugene McFarren, 61, of Southport, died Thursday evening, Oct. 5, 2000, in a local hospital. Mr. McFarren was a native of Wabash, Ind., but had resided in Southport for several years. Survivors include two daughters, Leslie McFarren and Wanona Roderick, and a sister, Linda Marley. Memorial service will be held at a later date.
