Funeral services for Donald Nelson Below, 58, of Panama City, who died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, in a local hospital, will be held today at 11 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens with full military honors conducted by the Tyndall AFB Honor Guard. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Leukemia Society of America in memory of Donald Below.

LOIS BIRGE
Mrs. Lois Birge, age 84, of 11508 County Line Road, Fountain, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at a local hospital. She had been a longtime resident of this area and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Birge was also a homemaker, a member of the Dalkeith Baptist Church, and enjoyed yard sales. She is survived by a son, Michael Birge of Fountain, Fla.; a daughter, Dorothy Horne of Mountain View, Ark.; two sisters; sister-in-law, Christine Birge and her husband Wayne of Fountain; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Birge was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton Birge. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Birge's grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dalkeith Baptist Church of Wewahitchka, FL.

ANTHONY PAUL CHIODO
Mr. Anthony Paul Chiodo, age 57, of 1908 Louise Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area for 40 years, coming here from New York. Mr. Chiodo is survived by his wife, Martha Jane Chiodo of Panama City; sons, Anthony Chiodo Jr. of Fountain, Fla., John Chiodo of Bayou George and Sean Chiodo of Lynn Haven; a daughter, Rhonda C. Newton of Panama City; his mother, Josephine Chiodo of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Mary Ann Sierra of Orlando; a brother, Norman Chiodo Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev.; and four grandchildren, Anthony Chiodo III, Angela Chiodo, Johnathon Chiodo and James Newton III. Funeral services will be held at noon today, Oct. 19, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Joe Purl and Kim Purl officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Robert Roney, Charles Roney, Will Cowart, Jimmy Newton, Frank Bell, and James Bell.

RALPH L. PEARISH JR.
Ralph L. Pearish Jr., Tsgt., USAF, age 44, of Mallard Drive., Panama City, Fla., died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 16, 2000. A native of Koontz Lake, Ind., he had been a resident of the area since 1988, transferring here from Iceland. Tsgt. Pearish served his country in the U.S. Air Force for nearly 20 years. He received many awards, ribbons, and medals including the Air Force Commendation Medals with two devices and the Air Force Achievement Medal with one device. He loved sports, especially playing softball. He played for Bay Medical Center's Team at Oakland Terrace. Tsgt. Pearish was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a former member of Emmaus United Methodist Church. Tsgt. Pearish is survived by his wife of 11 years, Paula Pearish of Panama City; daughters, Emma Clarice Rudloff-Pearish of Panama City and Rhea Lynn Pearish and her fiance Nate Phillips of Indiana ; his mother, Pat Pearish of Ohio; and a brother, Scott Pearish and his wife Nadine of Indiana . He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph L. Pearish Sr.; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Close. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 20, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Hill officiating. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Emmaus United Methodist Church.

ILA JEAN SMITH
Ila Jean Smith, 72, of 7440 Oak Ridge Drive, Panama City, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Panama City for 11 years, moving here from Iron Mountain, Mich. She was an instructor for the Panama City Gem and Mineral Society. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert Smith of Panama City; brother, Richard L. Smith and his wife; Barbara; sister, Freda Winter, all of Wausau, Fla.; sister, Carol Mikolowski of Algonac, Mich.; and dear friends, Janie Schings and Steven Shipton, both of Panama City. There will be no local services held and memorialization will be by cremation. Those desiring to may make a contribution to Hospice of Northwest Florida, 2589 Jenks Avenue, Panama City, FL 32405, in memory of Ila Jean Smith.

THE REV. BALLARD BRUNDIDGE JR.
The Rev. Ballard Brundidge Jr., 73, of 1528 Fortune Ave., died Friday evening, Oct. 13, 2000, at his home. He was a native of Troy, Ala. He was a member of Holy Temple Church of God In Christ. He is survived by four siblings: Sally B. Crittenden, Joe T. Brundidge, Callie R. Crittenden and Emma L. O'Bannon. Early in life he met and married the late Ruby M. Brundidge. During this union of 49 years they were blessed with nine children: Author B. Slater (Dorothy), Robert L. Porter (Bertha), the late William T. Brundidge, the late Willie L. Brundidge (Yvonne), Louis E. Brundidge (Carolyn), Leon Brundidge (Dianne), Sheila F. Barnes, Cynthia R. Pittz (Dale) and Jacqueline Coulter (Kenneth), eighteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was blessed with a second marriage to Betty Jean Leverett. This union brought forth a son, Gary P. Brown (Myleen); two grandchildren and five children of his heart: Dennis Brown, Vanessa Brown, Amanda Jones, Valerie Brown and Tommy T. Marlow. Funeral services for the Rev. Brundidge will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. in Holy Temple Church of God In Christ with Elder W.C. Green, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Public visitation will begin this afternoon at the funeral home at 1 p.m. A family hour will be in Battle Funeral Home Chapel from 6 to 7 p.m. this evening. Mr. James Marion Dockery, age 48, of Independence, La., died Oct. 18, 2000. He was a former charter boat captain in Panama City. Harry McKneely and Sons Funeral Home in Hammond, La., is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Catherine Harpe Gallante, age 59, of Panama City, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000. She was preceded in death by her father Hoyt Banks; son, Bradley Harpe; and brother, Elbert Banks. She is survived by her husband Mike Gallante; two daughters, Diane Brown and Vicky Davenport and husband James; son, Darrell Harpe; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother, Kate Banks; three sisters: Margie Freeman and husband Joe, Sue Sommer, Frances Nelson and husband Raymond; five brothers: Ronald Banks and wife Linda, Morris Banks, Johnny Banks and wife Cindy, Michael Banks and wife Kathy, Frank Banks; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Eastside Baptist Church, 236 Kraft Ave., Panama City, Sunday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m.

Mrs. Juanita Neal, 78, of Chipley, died Oct. 11, 2000, in N.W.F.C. Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Jerusalem Baptist Church Chipley with the Rev. Price Wilson, officiating. Interment will follow in Northside Cemetery with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley directing. The remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Survivors include five daughters: Mrs. Margaret Gregory Shackleford, Mrs. Wanda Daniels all of Chipley, Evangelist Barbara Borkins of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., Mrs. Phyllis Blackmon of Tallahassee and Mrs. Nell Marie Huff of Panama City; three sons: Ervin Annie Neal of Fort Walton Beach, Charles Betty Neal and Dwight Ann Neal all of Chipley; four sisters: Ada Merriell of St. Augustine, Fla., Inez Edwards of Panama City, Ola Mae McBride and Jenell Cotton of Chipley; a step-brother, Calvin McDougald of Chipley and many other relatives and friends.

JAMES J. 'J.J.' BARRETT
Mr. James J. "J.J." Barrett, age 63, of 2505 Thomas Drive, Panama City Beach, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at a local hospital. Mr. Barrett was the owner and operator of J.J.'s Marine Service and Custom Engineering, Inc. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Major who flew F 101's during the Vietname War and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Barrett of Panama City Beach; one son, James G. Barrett and wife Pamela of Panama City Beach; one daughter, Julie Ann Barrett of Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Shirley Cannella of Eagan, Minn.; two grandchildren, Brandon Lee Barrett and Helena Julia Barrett. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Marty Bratek officiating. Interment will follow at Catholic Cemetery with Full military Honors conducted by Tyndall Air Force Base Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Oct. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary service to be held at 6 p.m.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph L. Pearish Sr. and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Close. HUBERT G. ROWLAND
Mr. Hubert G. Rowland , age 68, of Mexico Beach, Fla., died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area for eight years, coming here from Boston, Ky. Mr. Rowland was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel and was retired from Ford Motor Co. He also served his country in the U.S.A.F. and was Baptist by faith. Mr. Rowland is survived by a son, Bobby Joe Rowland and his wife Cindy of Johnson City, Tenn.; daughter, Deanna Ross and her husband David of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren: Charlie, Anna, and Melissa; sisters: Louise Bray, Dean Hendon, and Wanda Willoughby, all of Murray, Ky., Carolyn Garland of Union City, Tenn., Jessie Brant of Fort Myers, Fla., and Kay Gafford of Parrish, Tenn.; brothers, Robert Rowland of Evansville, Ind., and Gene Rowland of Paducah, Ky.; best friends: (sister-in-law) Betty E. Rowland, Mel and Martha Riggs, Chelsey Smith, and Harold Boblitt. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Charlie and Cora Rowland and three brothers: Joe P. Rowland, C.T. Rowland, and Eddie Rowland. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with military honors conducted by Tyndall Air Force Base.
