Ruby Brock Gale, 73, of 209 Wilson Ave., Panama City, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1947 moving here from Vernon, Fla. She worked in accounting for Civil Service. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gale was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Allan Gale. She is survived by a daughter, Shelly Kirchoff and her husband, Richard; two grandchildren, Jennifer Merriam and her husband, David, Matt Kirchoff; and great-grandson, Jacob Merriam. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Doug Newton and Dr. Louie Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Those desiring to may make a contribution to First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in memory of Ruby Gale.

EFFIE MAE (TOMMIE) LAND
Effie Mae (Tommie) Land of Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in a local nursing home. She had been a resident of Bay County most of her life. She was a member of Heritage Bible Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph L. Land on Aug. 19, 1991. She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Sanders and her husband, Harold, Kathy Williams and her husband, Ronnie, all of Panama City; two sons, Robert C. Land and his wife, Vicky of Nashville, Tenn., Jimmy Land of Panama City; five grandchildren: Kevin Land, Brent Miller, Mark Miller, J.R. Williams, Ashley Land; two great-grandchildren, Carson Bryan Land, Eavan Thomas; brother, Ralph Fuller and his wife, Dottie of Tuscaloosa, Ala. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Henry Hazard officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Those desiring to may make a contribution to Hospice of Northwest Florida or the Heritage Bible Church in memory of Tommie Land. The family would like to thank the staff's of Bay Crest Nursing Home and Hospice of Northwest Florida.

ROBERT WILLIAM TAUSCHER SR.
Robert William Tauscher Sr., 76, of Callaway, Fla., died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Bay Medical Center. He was a resident of Bay County since 1976 moving here from New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Robert graduated from Concordia College and Seminary at Springfield, Ill., in 1952. From 1952 to 1953 he served concurrently as missionary-at-large for the Atlantic District, canvassing communities in the New England states for the purpose of establishing new congregations, and as part-time assistant at Christ Lutheran Church, Hartford, Conn. From 1953 to 1955, he became the first resident pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Central Islip, Long Island, N.Y. During this time he also served as part-time chaplain for the City of New York, at King's County Hospital, Brooklyn and supplied ministry to Grace Lutheran Church, Mastic Beach, Long Island. From 1955 to 1976, he served as pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, Clifton, N.J. While in New Jersey, he also dedicated eight years of his service as the Pastorial advisor for the New Jersey zone of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. After moving to Panama City, Fla., in 1976, Pastor Tauscher continued to share the word of God at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church until 1986 when he retired for medical reasons. In 1988, Robert became the organist at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church on Panama City Beach, Fla., where he ministered through music until 1996. In 1996, the Lord led Pastor Tauscher to Grace Lutheran Church, Bonifay, Fla., where he remained as Pastor until the present. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ruth E. Trexler; and brother, Walter E. Trexler. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Erene Tauscher, of Callaway; three sons: the Rev. Robert Tauscher Jr. and his wife, Michaela of Springfield, Penn., Paul Tauscher and his wife, Susan of Long Valley, N.J., Carl Tauscher and his wife, Florence of Bricktown, N.J.; four daughters: Esther Tauscher of Callaway, Lois Allen and her husband, Robert of Gautier, Miss., Susan Schuenemann and her husband, Richard of Shalimar, Fla., Nancy Sumerall of Callaway, Fla., son-in-law, Curtis Trexler; 13 grandchildren: Robert W. Tauscher III, Karen Tauscher, James Tauscher, Steven Tauscher, Allison Tauscher, Curtis Trexler, Elise Trexler, David Trexler, Christopher Allen, Kara Allen, Christy Schuenemann, Rebecca Sumerall, Rachel Sumerall; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gary E. Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the memorial fund of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or the Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund of Bonifay, Fla., in memory of Robert W. Tauscher Sr.

BESSIE C. LEE
The Rev. Bessie C. Lee, who resided for 29 years at 4118 Sue Lane, Panama City, Fla., died at the age of 88. Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. in Life and Praise Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Price, Broome, Dean, Glover and Corley presiding. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery, E. 15th St. Active pallbeares will be her nephews: Greg Kelly, Gerald Williams, Murray Kelly, Jim Corley, Raymond Dean and Johnny Corley. Honorary pallbearers will be all pastors and ministers. The Rev. Bessie Lee was a greatly loved Assemblies of God Minister for 66 years. Survivors are her husband, the Rev. J. Howard Lee; daughter, Betty "Bailey" Lee; grandson, David Judah; brothers, Johnny and James Corley; and nieces and nephews. The family will be receiving friends and staying at the home of Bessie Lee's daughter, 4126 Cherry Lane, Springfield.

WILLIAM 'BILL' SIMORA
William "Bill" Simora, age 81, of Tallahassee, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. EDT, Wednesday, at Beggs Funeral Home Apalachee Parkway Chapel, in Tallahassee, with burial in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Chipley, at 2 p.m. CDT. Visitation is today from 5 to 7 p.m., at Beggs Funeral Home Apalachee Parkway Chapel.

Betty Moates Burdick, 79, of 4421 W. 18th St., Panama City, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in a local hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Bay County. She was a retired legal secretary for several local attorneys' offices. Mrs. Burdick was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Progressive Women's Sunday School Class. She is survived by a daughter, Martha E. Forehand and her husband, Keith of Panama City; three grandchildren: Lauren Forehand, Karen Forehand, Bo Forehand; a brother, Edward Ray Moates and his wife, Henrietta of Panama City; and two sisters, Frances Bukota and her husband, George of Lakeland, Fla., and Margie M. Ware of Tampa, Fla. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery with Brother Si Mathison officiating. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Memorial Fund of First United Methodist Church in memory of Betty Burdick.

JOHN HENRY CROPPER
Mr. John Henry Cropper, TSGT., USAF, (Ret.), age 69, of 908 Nottingham Dr., Panama City, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2000, in a local hospital. Born in Fall River, Mass., he moved here 21 years ago from Providence, R.I. Mr. Cropper served in the USAF for over 22 years and receive four battle stars for the Korean Conflict. After retiring from the Air Force he worked at Tyndall AFB for 10 years in the Civil Engineering Squadron. His parents, James and Edith Cropper and four brothers: James, Bernard, David and Frank Cropper; a grandson, Walter Cropper; son-in-law, Gary Hempel and brother-in-law, John Mahoney preceded him in death. Mr. Cropper is survived by his wife of 28 years, Elaine Cropper of Panama City; one son, John H. Cropper Jr., and wife Mary of North Carolina; one step-son, Keith A. Di Stefano of California; three daughters: Kathleen Powe and husband Lee of Texas, Nancy Maddox and husband Randy of Kentucky and Margie Hempel of Massachusetts; one stepdaughter, Karen D. Kaneer and husband Kent of Pensacola; three sisters: Margie Gallant and husband Ray, Rita Eaton and husband Gary and Lorraine Mahoney all of Panama City; 16 grandchildren: Ryan Monroe, Sascha Monroe, Bonnie Franklin, Will Dyer, Jon Dyer, Trish and Christina Ruschmier, Josh Cropper, Jesse Cropper, Chris Hempel, Jamie Hempel, Becky Falcon and Joshua, Jacob and Justin Kaneer; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Oct. 27, at 8:30 a.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel. The Tyndall Air Force Base Honor Guard will accord full military honors. VIOLET LANI JOHNSON
Mrs. Violet Lani Johnson, age 88, of 404 E. 2nd St., Lynn Haven, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at a local nursing facility. She was a member of Lynn Haven United Methodist Church. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her sons: Hugh Paul Johnson and his wife Paula of Lorton, Va., Roger Kirk Johnson and his wife Sally of Lynn Haven, Jay Kermit Johnson and his wife Anne of Oxford, Miss., and David Carl Johnson and his wife Pamela of Colliersville, Tenn.; a brother, Earl Johnson of Aiea, Hawaii; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Kermit Isaac Johnson, who passed away June 19, 2000. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 27, at Lynn Haven United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Mr. Lurie Winston McKay, age 84, of 1609 Hickory Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at a local hospital. He has been a resident of the area since 1945, coming here from Dothan, Ala. Mr. McKay was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and retired from International Paper Co. He is survived by his wife, Louise McKay of Panama City, Fla.; two sons, Frank McKay Sr. of Southport and Henry McKay of Panama City; a sister, Florence Adams of Dothan, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. RUBY LEE MESSICK
Ms. Ruby Lee "Betty" Messick, 75, of Lynn Haven, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, in a local hospital. Born in Westville, Fla., she moved to Bay County in 1953. Ms. Messick was employed by Taco Villa and was a Baptist by faith. She was also a former member of the Panthers Motorcycle Club. Ms. Messick is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. "Jake" Messick. She is survived by one daughter, Alice "Jeanie" Griffiths of Lynn Haven; three granddaughters: Michelle Messick Berger, Christina Ledsome and Shelia Marshall; one grandson; and nine great-grandchildren: Tiffany and James Messick, May and Amber Berger, Jessica, Katrina, Brianna, and Tylor Griffiths and Willie Simmons Jr. Funeral services for Ms. Messick will be conducted Thursday, Oct. 26, at 4 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Lynn Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Stella Morin, age 67, of Orlando, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2000. Mrs. Morin was born in Tallahassee and was a homemaker. She is survived by a son, brother and one grandchild. Affordable Cremation Options of Orlando were in charge of the arrangements.
