BURRELL HENRY 'JOE' EANES
Mr. Burrell Henry "Joe" Eanes, 65, of 4004 East 3rd St., in Panama City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at a local nursing facility. He was a native of Kentucky and had lived in Panama City for 25 years, after moving here from Christiansburg, Va. He retired as a Master Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service, and had worked locally as a ship builder. Survivors include three sons: Robert Eanes and wife, Barbara, Terry Eanes and Eddie Eanes, all of Panama City; seven grandchildren: Deanna Stallings, Jamie Eanes, Robert Daniel Eanes, Matt Eanes, Ashley Eanes, Linda Eanes and Jessica Eanes; two great-grandchildren, Maria Stallings and Eric Scott. No service will be held locally. He will be transferred to Maberry Funeral Home in Floyd, Va., for funeral services and burial.

DOROTHY V. GORE
Mrs. Dorothy V. Gore, 75, of 4128 Cherry Lane in Panama City, passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at a local nursing facility. She was a native of Greensboro, N.C., and had lived in Panama City since 1966, after moving here from Newbergh, N.Y. She was a military wife who lived all around the country with her husband and family. Mrs. Gore enjoyed crafts, and was of the Baptist faith. She was predeceased by her husband, Alvin E. Gore Sr. Survivors include one son, Alvin E. Gore Jr. and wife, Bonnie of Warsaw, Ind.; two daughters, Linda A. Gilbert and husband, Ernie of Pinebluff, N.C., and Nancy J. Alexander and husband, Al of Panama City; her grandchildren: Michael D. Gore and wife, Amy of Newport Beach, Calif., Jennifer Whitaker of Tallahassee, John C. Gore and wife, Stacie of Panama City; Joseph Alexander of Panama City, Brian Stiffler of Birmingham, Ala., Eric S. Stiffler and Amy McDaniel of Panama City, and Amanda L. Gilbert of Pinebluff, N.C. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, from graveside at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Charles Key officiating. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Oct. 30, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m.

HUEY BRADY 'JIM' HELMS
Mr. Huey Brady "Jim" Helms, 91, of 1004 Amherst Road in Panama City, passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at a local convalescent center. He was a native of Slocomb, Ala., and had lived in Panama City since 1948. Mr. Helms enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1927 and served during World War II. He reached the rank of Sgt. with Co. E, 66th Armored Regiment of the Second Armored Division where he participated in campaigns in North Africa, Sicily, Normandy, the Ardennes and the Rhineland. After World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of Staff Sgt. After his retirement he worked as a civilian police officer at the Navy Mine Defense Lab and was a member of the St. Andrews Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annie Helms of Panama City; one daughter, Mary Anne Helms of Tallahassee; one son, James V. Helms of Tallahassee; one sister, Mary Ballard of Boise, Idaho; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Chapel with the Rev. Ron Gallagher officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Garden of Memory Cemetery, State 431 North, Dothan, Ala. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Oct. 30, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m.

HAROLD D. KIRKLAND
Harold D. Kirkland, 84, of White City, Fla., passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at a local hospital. He had lived in White City since 1973. Mr. Kirkland was a member of the Oak Grove Assembly of God, the Masons in North Carolina and the St. Joe Bay Country Club. Mr. Kirkland is survived by his wife, Janeel Kirkland of White City; son, Hal Kirkland and wife, Marty of White City; two daughters, Mary Helen Moor and husband, Lamar, and Jan Miller and husband, Ray, all of White City; brother, David Kirkland and wife, Dorris of Virginia; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Kirkland will be conducted Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at 3 p.m. EST at the Oak Grove Assembly of God Church with the Rev. David Fernandez officiating. Internment will follow in the Holly Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held today, Oct. 30, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. EST at the Gilmore-Southerland Funeral Home Chapel in Port St. Joe.

FRANCIS XAVIER 'FRANK' MARTIN
Funeral services for Mr. Francis Xavier "Frank" Martin, 65, of 3918 W. 21st St., in Panama City, who passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at a local hospital, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg George officiating. Full military honors will follow on the grounds of Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Dino Martin, Noah Walker, Euel Oliver, Wayne Haney, Joey Martin and John Morgan. Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers are members of AmVets Post No. 47 and members of Fleet Reserve Branch No. 346.

CHERYL COOK HARRIS
Mrs. Cheryl Cook Harris, age 46, of 2100 W. Beach Road, Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at her home. She had been a lifetime resident of Panama City and a member of Cook Memorial Baptist Church. Mrs. Harris' family founded Cook Fish Co., and have been in business for over 52 years. She loved the water and was dedicated to her business and loved all those who were associated with the fishing industry. Mrs. Harris also loved her pet dog Lokey and her cat Trouble. She is survived by her husband, Allen R. Harris of Panama City, Fla.; a son, Nick Farrell of Panama City; mother, Janice Phillips of Perry, Fla.; grandmother, Bessie Anderson of Panama City; granddaughter, Brittany Hall of Panama City; four sisters: Terry Cook and Glenda Cook, both of Panama City, Scarlett Morgan of Perry, Fla., and Pepper Connell of Macon, Ga.; and three brothers: William Cook and Jerry Cook Jr., both of Panama City and Ben Phillips of Orlando, Fla. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Cook and her grandparents, Alvin and Grace Cook. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., today, Oct. 31, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, today, Oct. 31, from 1 to 2 p.m., an hour prior to service time.

MARIE C. PIPER
Mrs. Marie C. Piper, 69, of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at her home. Born in Butte, Mont., she moved here in 1993 from Homestead, Fla. She was the manager of the MWR at Homestead AFB. Mrs. Piper is survived by her husband, David Piper of Panama City; three sons: Michael Hardaway and wife Cynthia of Panama City, Clifton Hardaway of Miami, Fla., and David Kibbler of Washington state; three daughters: Deborah Lohman of Panama City, Patty Chapman of Salt Lake City, Utah and Robin Hardaway of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two sisters, Vicky Stratford and husband Bob of Salt Lake City, Utah and Beth Weddle of Oregon; seven grandchildren and one-great grandchild. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida in memory of Mrs. Piper.

ZONNIE KENT PETERSON
Mrs. Zonnie Kent Peterson, 75, of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday evening, Oct. 28, 2000, in Memphis, Tenn. She was a lifelong resident of Bay County and was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Order of the Amaranth, Zollie Young Court No. 72. Mrs. Peterson is survived by one son, Carlton Peterson and wife Barbara of Panama City; one daughter, Carolyn Pettibone and husband R.L. of Cordova, Tenn.; one brother, James H. Kent and one sister, Agnes L. Dean both of Panama City; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Bayou George Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

CLARICE JUANITA ROBERTS
Ms. Clarice Juanita Roberts, age 71, of 235 Pine Ridge Drive, Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at a local hospital. She has been a resident of the area since 1987, coming here from Grand Prairie, Texas. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Ms. Roberts was a beautician and a beauty instructor. She enjoyed crochet and crossword puzzles. Ms. Roberts is survived by a daughter, Vivian "Sunnye" Taylor and her husband Donald of Panama City; sons, James Brett Reynolds and his wife Debbie and Gerald Owen Reynolds and his wife Jane, all of Texas; a sister, Elaine Moore of Lafayette, La.; seven grandchildren: Sarah Jane Reynolds, Brad Reynolds, Brent Reynolds, Christy Reynolds, Natalie Hall, Cindy Locker and Brian Taylor and his wife Anna; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held l0 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Moore and her grandson, Brian Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 31. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Property Fund of Northside Baptist Church, 530 Airport Road, Panama City, FL 32405. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the physicians and staff of the Panama City Dialysis Center for the great care given to Mrs. Roberts during her illness.

SARA FRANCES STARLING
Sara Frances Starling, age 67, of Whigham, Ga., died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000. A native of Lowndes County, Ga., she had lived in Whigham for four years. Also, she had lived in Panama City for six years and prior to that, she was a 20 year resident of Tallahassee. She was a vice-president of the Tallahassee State Bank and was a member of Gateway Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m. in Tallahassee Memory Gardens with burial following in Tallahassee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends today, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Abbey Funeral Home. Survivors include three brothers: John Harris Starling Jr., Marcus Starling both of Whigham, William Lloyd Starling of Valdosta; and one sister, Betty Nelms of Whigham.

MYRUS ALVIN STRICKLAND
Mr. Myrus Alvin Strickland, age 71, of 804 College Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at a local hospital. He has been a lifelong resident of the area and Pentecostal by faith. Mr. Strickland was in the paint and body business, had done ceramic tile work and had been a deckhand and cook on a tug-boat. He is survived by two daughters, Myra Juarez and Patricia Diane Carroll, both of Panama City; a son, Myrus W. Strickland of Panama City; a sister, Leona Sanders of Callaway; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Dolly M. Strickland. Graveside funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Millville Cemetery with the Rev. J.W. Hunt officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.
