Mrs. Ozee Layton Gray, age 84, of Panama City, FL., passed away Sat., Nov. 25, 2000 at a local hospital. She was born in Meigs, Ga., and had been a resident of Panama City for forty years , coming here from Tampa, FL. Mrs Gray was a homemaker and enjoyed making crafts for her friends and raising and selling chihauhuas. She was Baptist by faith. Mrs Gray is survived by her husband of 55 years, Malcolm Gray of Panama City, FL.; sister in law, Sarah Layton of Timmonsville, S.C., ; nephew, G. Alex Layton of Columbia; niece, Rachael L. Clank of Columbia, S.C.; stepdaughters, Carolyn Waldren and her husband Michael of Goldsboro, N.C., Marilyn Watts and her husband Mark of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Keresa Waldren, Cameron Waldren, Allen Nguyen, Kevin Nguyen and Marissa Nguyen. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. , Tues., Nov. 28, 2000, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Louis Rogers and Myrna Kay Carnley officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Mon., Nov. 27, 2000.

ARTHER MAE PRUITT
Mrs. Arther Mae Pruitt, 73, of 221 Transmitter Road, died Wednesday Nov. 22, 2000, in a local nursing center. She was born Sept. 3, 1927 in Barbour County, Ala., to Arthur Lee and Rosie Stanford. Arther Mae moved to Panama City at an early age. She joined the Antioch Temple Church of God in Christ and remained a faithful servant, dedicated worker and member. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late James Pruitt of Alabama. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Elder Raymond Pruitt of Panama City and the Rev. James (Cher) Pruitt of Tampa; three daughters, Kathleen (Albert) Dawson of Tampa, Jewel Murphy of Washington and a devoted and loving caregiver, Doris L. (John M.) Gipson of Panama City; four brothers, John Henry Stanford, O.W. Stanford, Levi Stanford and Ernest Stanford; five sisters, Rosie Marie Govan, Annie Dean Brinson, Annie Lou Stephens, Mattie Mae Bryant and Gloria Hall; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Puritt will be held Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Free Spirit Community Church with the Rev. James Kelly, pastor; Supt. John M. Gipson and the Rev. James Pruitt, officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin at the funeral parlor at 1 p.m. A family hour will be held this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Battle Memorial funeral Home Chapel. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at the home of Supt. and Mrs. John and Doris Gipson, 101 Laramie Circle.

ELIZABETH F. PRYOR
Mrs. Elizabeth F. Pryor, 73, of Panama City Beach, passed away Nov. 23, 2000, in Glencove Nursing Pavilion. Born in Geneva County, Ala., she was a long-time resident of Bay County. She was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God Church of Panama City Beach. Mrs. Pryor is preceded in death by her son, Jerome Pryor. She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Mr. J.C. Pryor of Panama City Beach; devoted granddaughter, Shannon Pryor of Panama City; beloved daughter-in-law, Connie Pryor of Panama City; one brother, James Bell of Defuniak Springs; and one sister, Virginia Gouge of Panama City Beach. Funeral services for Mrs. Pryor will be conducted today, Nov. 27, 2000, at 10 a.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Ensminger, the Rev. Baldwin Holmes and the Rev. David Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers, Lee Cater, Justin Cater, Ryan Cater, Al Harris, Alan Harris and Guy Pettis. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of her Sunday School class, Lloyd Swearington and Charles Stevenson.

DAVE ELWOOD TIDWELL
Dave Elwood Tidwell, 74, of Panama City, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a retired school bus mechanic and had been a resident of Panama City since 1982. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He is survived by two brothers, Arthur Kenneth Tidwell of Hialeah and Howard Lee Tidwell of Miami; an aunt, Ollie Shirah of Panama City; two nephews, Kenny Tidwell and Roy Tidwell; a niece, Alice Weiler; and a cousin, June Lynch. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating.

BEATRICE "BEA" ANGELINE WILLIS WILLIAMS
Beatrice (Bea) Angeline Willis Williams died Nov. 26, 2000, at a local hospital. She was the daughter of Lucinda Angeline Lewis Willis and Joseph Edward Willis of Early County, Georgia. Until her retirement in 1980 from Dr. Malcolm M. Traxler's office where she was employed for 15 years, she was active in church and civic affairs. She was a member of First Baptist Church and for many years sang in the adult choir, taught Sunday school and training union classes, and was a member of W.M.U. She was a charter member of the LLL Sunday school class taught by Earl Bailey. She was a 50 year member of Woman's Club of Panama City and a 50 year member of Order of Eastern Star 102 and a charter member of the Little Theater of Panama City. During her tenure as president of Panama Grammar School P.T.A. she was also a member of the State Board of Health and was instrumental in securing the Bay County Health Center. During World War II she served in Naval Intelligence, Eighth Naval District, for three years, receiving the highest (excellent) rating of the entire district and was recommended for the "Meritorious Service Award." For 13 years she worked as a teller at Commercial Bank. She attended the University of Geogia, the University of Florida, and Gulf Coast Community College. A native of Blakey, Georgia, she moved to Panama City after her marriage to Sam A. Williams. She is survived by her daughter, Angeline Williams Cook, and her husband, Bill W. Cook of Panama City; one granddaughter, Susan Cook Belcher and her husband, Jack of Wewa, FL.; one Grandson, Bill W. Cook III and wife, Celeste of Panama City; several great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs Jessica (Jet) Gainer of Covington, Georgia. Five sisters predeceased her, Claudelle Willis Harrison, Mattie Lou W. Bridges, Ella Mae W. Bridges, Sue W. Hocking, Loyce W. Craft, and one grandson Sam Cook. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday Nov.29, 2000 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Those desiring, may contribute to missions through First Baptist Church of Panama City in memory of Beatrice Willis Williams. The family will receive friends after the memorial service.

JOSEPH A. BOGART
Joseph A. Bogart, Maj. USAF Retired, died on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at Gulf Coast Medical Center. He celebrated his 66th birthday in October. He was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and had been a resident of Panama City since 1981. He served in the USMC, in Marine recon, and in the USAF NC as a nurse anesthetist, retiring in 1979. Among his many assignments, he served one year as an anesthetist at Cam Rahn Bay, Republic of Vietnam. Before retiring from practicing anesthesia, he was employed with the North Florida Anesthesia Group at Gulf Coast Medical Center. He is survived by his wife Maria of Panama City; daughters, Kathleen Mary, a police officer in Lake Worth, Fla., and Cecelia, a sales representative for Universal Studios in Fort Lauderdale; a brother, Michael and his wife Arlene reside in Pouqhquaq, N.Y. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marine Corp. Toys for Tots in his name.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Eva Lovina "Granny" Burton, 87, of Callaway, Fla., will be held today at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Mr. Steve Southerland II officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. before the funeral service.

JERRAL BUTTS
Mr. Jerral Butts, age 54, of 1313 First St., Southport, Fla., died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Ala. He had been a longtime resident of the area. Mr. Butts served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Camp Head Lighthouse Church in Altha, Fla. Mr. Butts enjoyed church and playing and singing gospel music. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Butts of Southport, Fla.; two sons, Travis Butts and his wife Lynn of Southport, Fla. and Justin Butts and his wife Susan of Panama City; two daughters, Salina Butts of Southport and Angel Romandini and her husband Amedio of Switzerland; a brother, Roy Butts and his wife Barbara of Thomasville, Ga.; a sister, Argie Rozell and her husband Joe of Panama City; a step-son, Larry Miller of Lake Wales, Fla.; a step-daughter, Marian Alday and her husband J.W. of Panama City; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Waidus Butts and his mother, Cecil Butts. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 30, at Victory Holiness Church with the Rev. Cecil Bryant, the Rev. Rossie Bryant, and the Rev. Coy Haney officiating. Interment will follow at Lynn Haven Cemetery. Mrs. Lois B. Fore, age 88, of 4902 E. 4th St., Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at her home. She was born in Buncombe Co., N.C., and has been a resident of the Panama City area since 1961. Mrs. Fore was Baptist by faith. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Gray and her husband Kent of Parker, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Mary Fore of Asheville, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Edward Fore and Hope Fore, both of Asheville, N.C., and Gail Schwartz of Seattle, Wash. She was preceded in death by her husband, Osbon Fore and two sons, Roger Fore and Osbon Fore Jr. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Charles Key officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Nov. 28, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

WILLIAM F. 'BILL' FREER
Mr. William F. "Bill" Freer, age 49, of Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000. He was a native of Newberg, N.Y., and had lived in Panama City since 1968. Mr. Freer was the President of General Kantrax Inc., doing commercial construction in the Panama City area. He was the former fire chief of Panama City Beach and a member of the Home Builders Association. Mr. Freer is survived by his wife, Trudie Freer of Panama City Beach; his children, Scott and Patricia Holtzendorf of Ormond Beach, Fla., Shay Holtzendorf and Missy Hudson and her husband Bill, all of Birmingham, Ala., and Christie Young and her husband Terry of Panama City Beach; his father, William E. Freer and his wife Ruth of Panama City Beach; a sister, Linda Heikkinen of Panama City; and three grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cliff Myers and Dr. Bill Spivey officiating. Honorary pallbearers will include Randy Chandler, Dave Thomas, Lee Anderson, Gary Bellamy, Tom Maner and Bill Reese. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Toys For Tots" in Mr. Freer's name.

LARRY R. GREEN
Mr. Larry R. Green, 83, of Panama City passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at his home. He was born in Terra Haute, Ind., on May 8, 1917, and was the son of Oliver Green and Gertie Steepleton Green. He was a veteran of World War II in the South Pacific 282nd Ordinance AA, serving in the U.S. Army. Before retiring he lived in Tulsa, Okla., where he was employed at Riverside Airport with Ross and Cannon Aviation. He was also a member of the Quiet Birdmen. Mr. Green is survived by his wife of 38 years, Norma Waybright Green; three daughters, Rachel Green Long of Panama City, Virginia Green Rutgliano of Yorktown, N.Y., Judy Pohl of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Oliver Green of Kansas City, Kan.; four sisters, Ruby Green, Ida Mae Nichols of Wauwatosa, Wis., Dorothy Jones of Edgerton, Mo., and Beverly Gillum of California; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at 1 p.m., in the Southerland Funeral Home Chapel.
