GERALDINE 'GERI' ROSEANN PANKHURST
Mrs. Geraldine "Geri" Roseann Pankhurst, age 60, of 1135 Plantation Dr., died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at her home. She has been a resident of Bay County for 20 years. Prior to moving to Bay County, Mrs. Pankhurst lived in not less than nineteen places as wife of major John E. Pankhurst, USAF, retired. Mrs. Pankhurst was a speech pathologist at Callaway Elementary School. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, a Sunday school teacher and wedding coordinator. Geri is survived by her husband, John E. Pankhurst of Callaway; daughter, Mrs. Julie L. Canzoneri and husband Mike of Panama City Beach; son, Mr. J. Kevin Pankhurst of Callaway; stepmother, Margret Clark of Lansing, Mich.; two stepsisters, Sandie Idema and Linda Amell; and three loving grandchildren, Adrienne R. Canzoneri, Jamie M. Canzoneri, and Cecelia A. Canzoneri. Memorial services for Mrs. Pankhurst will be held 9:30 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 31 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church and her ashes will be interred in the church garden. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. Andrews Episcopal Church Building Fund or the Geri Pankhurst Fund for Speech, Language, or Hearing Impaired Children.

Mr. Petorious S. Speights, 27, of 7004 Benton Dr. died in the early morning hours on Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, Christmas Day, in Panama City. Funeral services for Mr. Speights will be held today, Dec. 30, at noon in Neals Temple First Born Church of Living God with Bishop Lonnie Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Redwood Cemetery. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at 7004 Benton Dr. in Callaway.

Mrs. Jewelldine Ball, age 62, of 10128 Hwy 2301, Youngstown, Fla., passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at her home. Mrs. Ball has been a lifelong resident of Bay County, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bayou George. Mrs. Ball is survived by a daughter, Tammy Arnett and husband, Mark of Dalton, Ga.; two sons, Dale Ball and wife, Annmarie and Terry all of Bayou George, Fla.; three grandchildren: Kacey Arnett of Dalton, Ga., Chelsea Ball of Southport, Fla., and David Earl Anderson of Dalton, Ga.; four brothers: Allen Hand and wife, Bunny of Panama City Beach, Fla., Pat Hand of Gainesboro, Tenn., Larry H. and wife, Connie of Panama City, Fla., and Ray Hand and wife, Lynn of Fountain, Fla. Mrs. Ball was preceded in death by her husband, Hank Ball; a brother, Forrest Hand; and her parents, A.W. Hand and Jewell Hand. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Fred Lowery officiating. Interment will follow at the Bayou George Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Allen Hand, Pat Hand, Ray Hand. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Monday, Dec. 1, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m.

CARMEN JEANETTE SPANN BISHOP
Carmen Jeannette Spann Bishop, 88, of 1105 South Floral Ave., Bartow, died Dec. 29, 2000, in Bartow. She was the daughter of Robert Lee Spann Sr. of Leesville, S.C., and Nina Richards of Apalachicola and Wewahitchka. Carmen grew up in Parker. She attended school in Millville and Panama City, graduating from Bay High School in 1930. She attended the summer semester program at Florida State University and obtained a teacher's certificate. She taught school in a one-room school at San Blas School; the second year she taught in a two-room school in Parker. Then she entered The Mather School of Nursing, Southern Baptist Hospital, New Orleans, La., graduating in June 1938. She worked for two years as a supervisor at Baptist Hospital, then entered Louisianna Public Health Nursing, working in both Northern and Southern Parishes. She came back to Florida in late 1941 and found a vacancy in the First Aid Department at International Paper Co. She filled it. As a member of the Red Cross Emergency Corporation, she was called to active duty in 1942. She served in IPC and became Head Nurse Feb. 1947, where she worked until retirement in 1970. February 22, 1947 she married Merle Hart Bishop who was head timekeeper at IPC. They had one son, Merle Hart Bishop, born Dec. 25, 1948. Mrs. Bishop was preceeded in death by her husband. She is survived by her son, Merle Hart Bishop Jr. and wife, Ella; three grandchildren: Christie, Brian and Don. The family lives in Bartow. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Rauzelle Spann of Parker and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 7 at 3 p.m. in the C.C. Moore Chapel at First Baptist Church of Panama City with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will be in the Parker Cemetary. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church in memory of Carmen Jeanette Spann Bishop.

EDITH MABEL BENNETT
Mrs. Edith Mabel Bennett, age 80, of 1701 Lake Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at a local hospital. She has been a resident of the area since 1983, coming here from Sebring, Fla., and was Protestant by faith. Mrs. Bennett enjoyed painting, working in her yard and garden, and especially her family. She is survived by a daughter, Michele Kern and her husband, Dennis of Tallahassee, Fla.; four sons: Frank Daniels of Panama City, Fla., Gale Daniels and John Daniels and his wife, Susan, all of Sebring, Fla., and Mike Daniels and his wife, Pat of Panama City, Fla.; two brothers, Jim Devlin of Melissa Texas and Ed Devlin of Chestertown, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Barney Allen Bullock, 73, of Panama City, will be conducted today, Dec. 31, at 1:30 p.m. in the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Neal Miller officiating. Mrs. Ruby Childers, 75, of Panama City, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2000, in Chattahoochee. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Childers is survived by two sons, Robert James Childers Jr. and Bruce Monroe Childers; and one grandchild, Kyle Robert Childers. Graveside services for Mrs. Childers will be conducted Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. Interment will follow.

DAVID RAY COBB SR.
David Ray Cobb Sr., died Dec. 23, 2000, at his home in Panama City Beach. He was 70 years old. He was born in Decatur, Ala. Survivors include two sons, David R. Cobb Jr. and Leonard Earl Cobb, of Huntsville, Ala.; six daughters: Cathy C. Ruby of Bunker Hill Kansas, Minerva Aylor of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Mary Gonzalez, of Stuart, Fla., Edith Wilbourn of Huntsville, Ala., M. Delena Mullenite of Panama City Beach and Sandra Knorowski of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Bette Murphy of Dallas, Texas and Sandra Walters of Jacksonville, Fla.; 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 4 stepgreat-grandchildren and a host of other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, L. Kathleen Tate; his parents, John Moses Cobb and Mary LaRane Royer; and two great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at a later date on Bingham Mountain, Paint Rock Valley, Ala.

Billie Guilford, 72, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at her daughter's home in Keystone Heights, where she had lived for the past 10 months. She retired as a teacher from the Gulf County School District following her many years of service there. Mrs. Guilford received her bachelor's of science degree from the University of Florida and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. Born in Dothan Ala., she lived in Port St. Joe since 1962, after her husband left the Air Force. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Port St. Joe. Mrs. Guilford was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Alton Guilford Sr. who died Aug. 20, 2000. She is survived by three daughters: Laura Guilford Dean of Keystone Heights, Yvonne Guilford Guillet of Port St. Joe, Alyson Guilford Miller of Bridgeton, Ind.; two sons, Carl A. Guilford Jr. of Bakersville, Calif., William Stuart Guilford of Panama City; one sister, Carlene Campbell Gaillard of Melbourne; seven grandchildren: Rehett and Justin Dean; Chris, Sean and Josh Guilford; and Kale and Devin Guilott. Graveside services will be held Thursday, Jan. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Holly Hill Cemetary in Port St. Joe with the Rev. David Fernandez residing. THELMA RUTH KIRKLAND
Thelma Ruth Kirkland, 80, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in a Jacksonville hospital. Born on Aug. 22, 1920, in Graceville, Mrs. Kirkland was a homemaker and a member of Terry Road Baptist Church. Mrs. Kirkland was preceded in death by her husband, Cammie Eugene Kirkland and her sons, Lavughn and Ralph Kirkland. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Sams and her husband, Robert; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Roy A. Myers Sr., 84, of 1050 West River Road, Wewahitchka, Fla., died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in Bay Medical Center. Funeral services for Deacon Myers will be held today, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m., in New Hope Baptist Church in Wewahitchka with the Rev. Leon Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery. The remains will lie in state two hours prior to the funeral services at the church. DONALD R. REED
Donald R. Reed, of Tallahassee, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000. He was 74 years old. He was a former teacher and he retired from the State of Florida in 1986 as director for the office of disability. He was a United States Marine Corp. veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Born in Arcadia, he called Tallahassee home since 1956. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church. Married for over 50 years, he is survived by his wife, Julia "Judy" Reed of Tallahassee; one son, Donald R. Reed II of Sanford; two daughters, Kathryn L. Swigler of Panama City and Rebecca L. Reed of Tallahassee; one sister, Marzee Nelson of Orlando; five grandchildren: Katie Reed of Sanford, Zack Reed of Sanford, Carlie J. Swigler, Adam R. Swigler and Kristine E. Swigler all of Panama City. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 11 a.m. at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park, in Tallahassee. Following the service, family will receive friends at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home Timberlane Road Chapel. RICHARD WYATT
Mr. Richard Wyatt, age 76, of 842 Mulberry Ave., Panama City, Fla., passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at his home. Mr. Wyatt had been a resident of Bay County since 1942, served as Navy flyer in the Navy, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II and was a mason. He was supervisor of security at Pinnacle Port. He is survived by his wife, Lila Wyatt of Panama City, Fla..; nieces: Glenda Gordon of Dothan, Ala., Doris Steen of Bath, N.Y., and Dorothy Renfroe of Youngstown, Fla.; and other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Memorial services will be held Monday, Jan. 1 at 11 a.m., at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.W. Hunt officiating. The family will be at the home of Dorothy Renfroe, 11310 Waller Road, Youngstown, Fla., and will be receiving friends today, Dec. 31, 2000, from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to P.O. RAYMOND E. YOUNG
Raymond E. Young, 77, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at his home in Laguna Beach following a long illness. He was born in Birmingham, Ala., and married Lucy Gibson on April 10, 1942. He retired as a lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Army in 1966. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He went on to become national director of the U.S. Job Corps before retiring. He was an active volunteer for local Veterans War Home in Milledgeville, Ga., in 1990. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Lucy G. Young of Laguna Beach; two daughters, Nancy Morris of Americus, Ga., and Donna Austin of Birmingham, Ala.; four sons: Raymond E. Young Jr. of Panama City, Rand Young of Columbus, Ga., Michael D. Young of Fayetteville, Ga., and Doug Young of Tyrone, Ga.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1. Those desiring, may make a donation in his memory to the Salvation Army.
