A memorial service for Mr. Jack B. "Black Jack" Stanley, 67, of Springfield, Fla. will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in the Southerland Funeral Home Chapel. Following the service friends may visit with the family at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Serina and Scott Junger in Lynn Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association in memory of Mr. Stanley.

GERTRUDE TURNER
Mrs. Gertrude Turner, 88, of 114 Kraft Ave. died Monday Jan. 1, 2001, in her home. She was a lifelong resident of Panama City. She was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Eula Mae Spears; brother, Frank Raliegh; and five children, Carolyn, Calvin, Willie, James and A.J. Heard and a granddaughter, Marcia Heard. She is survived by five daughters, Catherine Green of New York City, Vern H. Webb of Panama City, Betty Parker of Los Angeles, Calif., Rosemary Parks of Las Vegas, Nev. and Sarah Syers (Fred) of Paicoma Calif.; five sons, Harold Heard (Mamie) and Minister Bobby Heard both of Panama City; Robert Heard (Julia), Kenny Heard (Gloria),both of Los Angeles, Calif.; and David Heard of New York City; two brothers, Fred Turner of Jacksonville; and Jimmy Turner of Milwaukee, Wisc.; three sisters, Inella Mathis of Ft. Lauderdale; Estelle Ceasar of Panama City; and Mary McKinnon of Crystal River; 28 grandchildren, Venital Gail Heard, Carole Pennington (Joe), Sharon W. Boone, Briggiet Barkley (Juan), Janna Robinson, Pamela Green, Bobby Heard Jr., Kim Heard, Patricia Heard, Beverly Delaney, Yvonne Gibson (Tony), Kimberly Clark, Amber Heard, Kenana Heard, Gloria Heard, Kendra Heard, Nakomia Heard, Ann Heard, Alonzo Heard, Harold Heard III, James Parks, Reggie Parks, Trevor Syers, Sonja Syers, Wayne Parks, Robert Heard Jr., Gary Heard and Quinton Reed; a special cousin, Jean Byrd; devoted friend and son, Verdell McCoy and Rudolph Smith; 30 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Turner will be held Sunday, Jan.7 at 2 p.m. in Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Woodrow Wilson, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the Church on Sunday one hour prior to service. The family will receive relatives and friends at 114 Kraft Ave.

FRANCIS MICHAEL 'FRANK' BORDEN
Francis M. "Frank" Borden, 47, of Panama City, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at his home. He was a native of New York, and had lived in Panama City for 10 years, moving here from New Jersey. He was Catholic by faith, and loved to shoot pool and go camping. Survivors include one daughter, Heather Borden and fiance, Sean Thompson of Panama City; one son, Jason Borden of Fort Pierce; Susan Borden of Fort Pierce; his mother, Margaret Borden of Panama City; three sisters: Margaret Borden of Panama City; Katherine Borden of Jersey City, N.J., Francine Figro of Woodbridge, N.J. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

JACK W. CHURCHWELL
Jack W. Churchwell, 65, of 200 Seville Lane, Rainbow City, Ala., died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2001. Mr. Churchwell was a native of Panama City, Fla., and a resident of Etowah County for the past 27 years. He was a member of the Walnut Park Advent Christian Church and a Mason and Shriner. He was retired from Orkin Pest Control Company. Mr. Churchwell was preceded in death by his sister, Sara Fussell. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Churchwell of Panama City; two daughters, Vannesa Striplin of Birmingham, Jackie Seibenschuh and husband, Chris of Tampa, Fla.; two sons, Joseph Garrison of Charlotte, N.C., Bobby Garrison and wife, Mary of Gadsen, Ala.; five sisters: Sylvia Flowers and husband, Fred of Pensacola, Fla., Pearl Dozier and wife, Pat of Winter Garden, Fla., Helen Thomas and husband, Wayne of Atlanta, Ga., Rita Owen and husband, Fenner of Ebro, Fla., Jo Ellen Bowie and husband, Gerald of LaGrange, Ga.; one brother, James Churchwell and wife, Paula of Tallahassee, Fla. Pallbearers include Gerald Bowie, Wayne Thomas, Jeff Morgan, Fenner Owen, David Tyler Sr. and David Tyler Jr. Visitation is scheduled for today, Jan. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Morgan Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will follow on Monday, Jan. 8, at 11 a.m. also in the Morgan Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Heart Association.

MRS. NIG COXWELL
Mrs. Nig Coxwell, 86, of Blounstown died Saturday, Jan. 6 2001, in the Calhoun Liberty Hospital. Mrs. Coxwell was born in Georgia and had lived in Calhoun County most of her life. She was a member of the Abe Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church. She is survived by one son, Ronnie Coxwell of Blountstown; one daughter, Virginia Sullivan of Lincoln, Ala.; one brother, Thomas Grozier of Flagler Beach; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. CDT in the chapel of Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. Edgar Fuqua and the Rev. Michael Morris officiating. The family will receive friends at Adams Funeral Home today, 5 to 8 p.m. Adams Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.

CLARENCE CECIL CURLS
Clarence Cecil Curls, 88, of 2513 Joan Avenue, Panama City Beach, passed away in a local nursing facility, Friday, Jan. 5, 2001. He was born in Moultrie, Ga., and had been a resident of Alachua, Fla., before moving to Panama City 15 months ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by a stepgrandson, Johnny Westberry. He is survived by his wife, Nancy B. Curls; two stepsons, Bob Westberry and wife, Beverly of Panama City Beach, Billy Westberry and wife, Pauline of Lakeland, Fla.; six stepgrandchildren: Bobby Westberry and his wife, Connie of Chattanooga, Tenn., Brenda Westberry of Panama City Beach, Bettina Hare of Lynn Haven, Tera Lynn Westberry of Lakeland, Danny Westberry, Bobby Westberry, both of South Carolina, three step great-grandchildren: J.T. and Chance, both of Lakeland, Alisia of Lynn Haven. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buford Carter officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL at a later date.

HARVEY LEE HOWARD
A funeral service for Harvey Lee Howard, 77, of 2300 N. Sherman Ave., Panama City, Fla., who passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, will be held Sunday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Hunt officiating. Interment will follow at Millville Cemetary.

ADDIE LORRAINE HUGHES
Addie Lorraine Hughes, 80, of 5405 Pine tree Road, Panama City, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Bay Crest Nursing Center after a brief illness. Born in Olla, La., Mrs. Hughes moved here in 1939 from Ozark, Ala., with her husband, T.J. Hughes. Mr. Hughes died in 1989. Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker and an active, longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Two grandsons, Darryl Barker and Rob Snuggs, preceded her in death. "Miss Lorraine" as she was lovingly called by members of the church, is survived by four daughters and their families: Joan H. Barker and husband, Jerry of Conyers, Ga; Edith H. Smith and husband, Larry of Sarasota, Fla.; Wanda H. Snuggs of Vienna, Va.; Sharon H. Whitaker and husband, Lomax of Panama City, Fla. Mrs. Hughes has six grandchildren: Phillip Barker of Acworth, Ga.; Missy B. Waters and husband, Frank of Athens, Ga.; Deanna S. Keithly and husband, David of Maitland, Fla.; Christopher Smith and wife, Michelle of Lafayette, Calif.; Kevin Whitaker of Gainesville, Fla.; and Keith Whitaker and wife, Neccie of Panama City, Fla. Mrs. Hughes has nine great-grandchildren: Lauren Whitaker, Kayla and Scott Whitaker, Margaret and Annie Smith, Billy and Tommy Waters, Gregory and Valerie Keithly. One brother, Ted Eubanks of Dayton, Texas also survives Mrs. Hughes. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8 at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Floyd Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and granddaughters. Honorary pallbearers include members of the Ladies Progressive Class at Trinity United Methodist Church, and her care givers from the Hospice of Northwest Florida and Bay Crest Nursing Center. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 7. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Northwest Florida.

Bill J. Morris, 78, of Southport, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001. A service will be held Monday, Jan. 8,at 10 a.m. at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Curtis Kent officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Chad Morris, Kevin Loftin, Brad Loftin, Chicko Lowrey, Jason Lowrey and Daniel Morris. Leon Major Redmond, 50, of 18216 Overland Ave., Fountain, Fla., passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at his home. He had been a resident of the Fountain area since 1995, coming here from Immokalee, Fla., and was born in Leesburg, Ga. Mr. Redmond is survived by three daughters: Misty Martin of Trenton, Fla., Heidi Moro and Star Osceola, both of Immokalee; a devoted fiance, Teresa Sandidge of Fountain and her children: Durinda McCall and husband, Ricky of Youngstown, Fla., Lucinda Sandidge of Panama City, Fla., and Dallas Waters of Fountain; six grandchildren: Michelle and Taylor of Trenton, Tyler and Jacob of Immokalee, and Sydney and Will of Youngstown, who knew him as "Big Daddy"; three brothers: James T. Redmond and wife, Margaret of Fountain, Lester Redmond and his wife, Marie of Immokalee, and David Redmond and his wife, Sherrail of Fountain; three sisters: Ann Morgan, Helen Leal and Sara McGovern, all of Immokalee; special nieces and nephews: Michael, Maryann, Amanda, James Q. Redmond, Samantha Payne, Tabatha Adams, Margarette, Lisa, Jimmy, Debbie, Leslie, Michael, Keith, Gene, Jessica, Jesse, Jamie, Paula, David, Crystal and Shelby. He was preceded in death by his father, Quinn Lester Redmond and his mother, Henrietta "Mary" Hall. A memorial service will be held at a later date. WILLIAM THOMAS 'BILL' WHITACRE
William Thomas "Bill" Whitacre, 74, of Panama City, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, in a local hospital. He was the manager of J.C. Penny's, retiring in 1989 after 41 years of service. He had been a resident of Panama City for 25 years moving here from Norfolk, Va. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served on the original board of directors for the Anchorage Children's Home. He was a member of the Panama City Downtown Rotary Club and the St. John Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Sladek. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Whitacre of Panama City; one daughter, Marilyn Hill and husband, Thomas of Royal Oak, Mich. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Marty Bratek officiating. Interment will be in the Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley, Mich., at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Anchorage Childrens Home or the Bay County Humane Society in memory of Bill Whitacre.
