Mrs. Linda H. Wallace, age 48, of 1011 Pitts Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area for eight years, coming here from Pensacola, Fla. Mrs. Wallace was a homemaker and a member of Parkway Baptist Church. She loved doing computer work and e-mail. She also loved knitting and sewing. Mrs. Wallace is survived by her husband, Lamar Wallace of Parker; a son, Kevin Lamar Wallace and his wife Lorene of Panama City; brothers, Marvin Hemphill Jr. and Larry Joe Hemphill, both of Louisville, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Sunday, Jan. 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date.

BETTY MILLER BAILEY
Betty Miller Bailey, of 260 Eagle Drive, Panama City Beach, Fla., died Friday, January 12, 2001, in a local hospital. She was a retired secretary for the State of Alabama. She had been a resident of Panama City Beach since 1990 moving here from Louisville, Ky. She was a member of the St. Andrew Baptist Church, the Order of Eastern Star, where she was Past Worthy Matron, and the Shaddai Shrine Auxiliary. She was a 1945 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School and had been a lifelong resident of Montgomery, Ala. She is survived by her husband, James L. Bailey of Panama City Beach; one daughter, Scarlotte M. Holmes and husband John T. of Panama City Beach; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Owen Miller and wife Joyce of Montgomery; two sisters, Margaret Allen and husband Ben of Albany, Ga., Jenelle Johnson and husband Steve of Fort Worth, Texas. Funeral services will be held Monday at 7 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dewey Davidson and the Rev. Jerome Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery, Ala.

DELORIS BEALL
Mrs. Deloris Beall, 79, of 3006 W. 21st Ct., Panama City, Fla., passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at her home. She had been a resident of the area since 1966, coming here from Poplarville, Miss. Mrs. Beall was of the Baptist faith. She loved dancing, cooking and bingo. Her family was her life. Mrs. Beall is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Houston P. Beall of Panama City; four daughters: Doris Bowdain and her husband Tom of Panama City Beach, Fla., Shirley Lier and her husband Rick of Lynn Haven, Fla., Marion Pelland and her husband Sonny of Lynn Haven and Sharon Reid of Panama City; granchildren: Sonya Reid Schans and her husband Marty, Stephen Nettles and his wife Charlene, Beverly Lier, Jennifer Nettles Mabardy and her husband Jack, Justin Pelland and Paige Pelland; one great-grandchild: Houston Paul Schans; two sisters: Mildred Crockett of Bogalusa, La. and Louise Daughdrill of Poplarville, Miss. She is pre-deceased by a great-grandchild Matthew Stephen Nettles. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 15, at 12 p.m. at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as pallbearers are: Rick Lier, Tom Bowdoin, Sonny Pelland, Marty Schans, Jack Mabardy and Fred Bynum. ROBERT MITCHELL BEST
Mr. Robert Mitchell Best, 51, of Blountstown, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, in The Veterans Hospital in Gainesville. Mr. Best was born in Florence, S.C., and was a disabled Vietnam veteran. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blountstown, Dixie Lodge number 109 F&AM in Blountstown, and the Shaddai Shrine Temple in Panama City, Fla. He served as district deputy grand master, district deputy grand priest and past district deputy grand commander. He was a member of the Panama York Rite Bodies. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Best of Blountstown; two sons, Kenneth and Joshua Best of Blountstown; one daughter, Kimberly Michelle Hood of Bremerton, Wash.; mother, Mrs. Marie Best of Lamar, S.C.; one brother, William L. Best of Florence, S.C.; one sister, Shirley A. Gustavison of Washington, D.C.; one granddaughter, Kalei Simone of Bromerton, Wash. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. CST in the chapel of Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown with the Rev. Bill Plazarin officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Panama City. The family will receive friends today, Jan. 14, and Monday, Jan. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. CST at the funeral home. Thomas Bonton, 54, master chief, retired, U.S. Navy of 3907 Torino Way, Panama City, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at his home. He had been a resident of the area for 15 years, coming here from Martinsville, Va. Master Chief Bonton was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and St. John's Men's Club. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Bonton of Panama City; a son, Jason Bonton of Panama City; a daughter, Leigh Bonton of Panama City; Elizabeth Ashley of Port St. Joe, Fla. who he loved like a daughter; a sister, Rebecca Guilliams of Henry, Va.; a step-mother, Gloria Bonton of Martinsville, Va.; a step-sister, Patsy Minter of Martinsville; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Marty Bratek officiating. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Jan. 14, from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Emerald Coast, P.O. Cameron Mitchell Davis, two days, passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at a local hospital. He is survived by his mother, Candice Davis of Panama City, Fla.; father, Rick Hillard of Panama City Beach, Fla.; one brother, Cody Davis of Panama City; one sister, Courtney Davis of Panama City; maternal grandmother, Bonita Pope of Panama City; maternal grandfather, Ray Davis of Panama City; uncle, Chris Davis and wife Susan of Panama City; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. at the North Sherman Ave. Community Church with the Rev. Johnny Cromer officiating, with interment following at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the North Sherman Ave. Community Church on Monday, Jan. 15, from 1 to 2 p.m.

BARBARA BAKER KEY
Mrs. Barbara Baker Key, 66, of Enterprise, Ala., died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at the Medical Center Enterprise in Enterprise. Mrs. Key spent many of her early years in and around Abbeville, Ala. Survivors include one daughter, Karen Key Jernigan of Panama City Beach, Fla.; two sons, Stuart Key of Enterprise and Greg Key of Troy, Ala.; three grandchildren: Britt, Scotty, and Sheldon Jernigan. She leaves behind a loving group of birthday girls and many friends. A funeral service will be conducted Monday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. at the Searcy Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Frank Wells officiating. BOBBY LEE KUYKENDALL
Bobby Lee Kuykendall, 67, of 906 Bradford Circle, Lynn Haven, Fla., passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1973, moving here from Germany. Mr. Kuykendall retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force in 1980, after having served his country for 281/2 years. He also retired from Civil Service with the fire protection division. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church, Shaddai Temple, Scottish Rites, Masonic Lodge No. 450 A.F. & A.M Belton, Mo., Eastern Star No. 142 Kansas City, Mo., and was on the executive committee of the Democratic Party of Bay County. He was "born a Democrat - always a Democrat." Mr. Kuykendall initiated funding for the Fire Prevention Program and for vans used in transporting children to the burn center for the Shaddai Temple. He was a Vietnam veteran and received the Bronze Star medal with "V" device. Mr. Kuykendall is survived by his wife of 43 years: Betty S. Kuykendall of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two daughters: Bobbie Sue Krenke and her husband Greg of Lynn Haven, Fla., Becky Lee Johns and her husband Troy of Southport, Fla.; one brother, Johnnie Kuykendall of Candler, N.C.; one sister, OraMae Rathbone of Canton, N.C.; Grandchildren: Scott Krenke of Tallahassee, Fla., Holly Ciccarrelli and her husband Michael of Marrietta, Ga., Christopher Sammons of Southport, Fla., and Kendall Faith Johns of Southport, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Margaraet Koutris and her husband Gus of Candler, N.C.; four brother-in-laws: George Ledford and his wife Peggy of Candler, N.C., Bud Ledford and his wife June of Canton, N.C., James Ledford and his wife Brenda of Canton, N.C., and Johnny Ledford and his wife Dot of Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his parents and nine siblings. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Parker and the Rev. John Barton officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery with full military honors. Members of the Tyndall Air Force Base Honor Guard will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include all Firemen of Tyndall AFB and Bay County and members of the Shaddai Temple. DORIS LOGAN SAMPLE
Doris Logan Sample, 44, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001. The Birmingham native was a 1978 graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in microbiology. She worked as a certified medical technologist at DCH Regional Center in Tuscaloosa, and from 1989 to the present at Bay Medical Center in Panama City. Mrs. Logan graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1974 and was a member of the marching band. She was an avid amateur photographer and artist. She attended Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Panama City where she volunteered her musical talents. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, William Timothy Logan of Panama City Beach; a son, Joshua Michael Logan, age 9; daughter, Chelsea Caroline Logan, age 3; mother, Carolyn P. Channell of Tuscaloosa; father, Wilburn J. Sample of Birmingham; and sister, Catherine Sample Slonecki of Charleston, S.C. The family will receive friends at Johns-Ridout's Southside Chapel in Birmingham on Sunday, Jan. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. at Johns-Ridouts, with burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham. A memorial service will also be held in Panama City Beach at Woodlawn United Methodist Church with time to be announced at a later date.

DARBIE L. SANDERS
Mr. Darbie L. (Uncle Dan) Sanders, 88, of Lynn Haven, Fla., died Jan. 11, 2001, in a local hospital. Born and raised in Orangeburg County, S.C., he joined the Marine Corps in 1931 and served in China after which he received an honorable discharge as a result of a service connected disability. He was a past Commandant with the Marine Corps League, Panama City Detachment, past Vice-Commandant of Northwest Florida District and a life member of D.A.F. Post 106, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2185, Lynn Haven Lions Club, and the Silver Sands Coin Club. He is survived by his wife, Daisy Attaway Sanders of Lynn Haven; sister and brother-in-law, Nellie Claire and Dr. Alton Brown of Summerville, S.C.; brother-in-law, Clifton Attaway of Padre Island, Texas; nephews and nieces: William L. Sanders of Lexington, S.C., Beverly Anne Stricklin of Columbia, S.C., Terry Butler of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Dr. Alton G. Brown Jr. of Charleston, S.C., William D. Brown of Charlotte, N.C., and Janice Martin of Columbia, S.C.; and devoted friends, Mitch and Theresa Flanagan of Lynn Haven. Memorialization will be by cremation with a private memorial service at a later date.

BILLY JOE SKIPPER
Billy Joe Skipper, 66, of Panama City, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, in a local hospital. He was a 20-year retiree of Byrd & Son Bottling Company. He was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church. He was a proud gardener, fisherman, and storyteller. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Holland Skipper, and his aunt and uncle, Willa and Bill Pippin. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Frances Skipper of Panama City; father, Joe Bryant Skipper of Panama City; two brothers: James Larry Skipper of Panama City, Charles Allen Skipper and his wife Deborah of Orlando, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom McCardle officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
