Mrs. Evelyn M. Cheney, 81, of Mexico Beach, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at her home. Born in Pratt City, Ala., she moved here in 1999 from Weaver, Ala. She was a homemaker and a member of First Methodist Church in East Gadsden, Ala. Mrs. Cheney is survived by six daughters, Linda Besserdich, Carolyn Hatten, Louise Jones, Deborah Bryant, Betty Firestone and Eve Finn; two sons, Richard and Donald Cheney; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. in Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden, Ala. with the Rev. Jerry Abbett officiating.

LELA NELL LAND
Lela Nell Land, age 70, of Lakeland, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. and funeral services beginning a 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9, at Lynn Haven Church of God, Lynn Haven. In lieu of flowers, Cancer Research Inst., 681 5th Ave., 12th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10022.

RONALD L. MARTIN
Ronald L. Martin died Dec. 16, 2000, after a two year bout with cancer. He was 57 years of age. He was born in Pennsauken, N.J., was in the first graduation class of Pennsauken High School, and then attended South Jersey Jr. College. He had a successful business, Regency Real Estate Appraisers Inc. in South Jersey. His love of life was sports. He became a member of Merchantville Country Golf Club, Cherry Hill, N.J. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1963, served four years, received his honorable discharge in 1967, and attended University of Maryland (European Division). Surviving are his parents, Joseph and Sherry Martin of Sunny Hills, Fla.; brother, Joseph W. Martin Jr. and wife Kathleen of Hillsborough, N.J.; nephews, Michael, Douglas, Jeffrey and niece, Kristi; uncles, Frederick H. Martin Sr. and Aunt Helen of Pennsauken, Horace Tomlinson and Aunt Rebecca of Lindenwald, N.J. and Aunt Elizabeth Buchheim and husband Charles and numerous cousins. Cremation funeral services by the Rev. Pritt, Grace Episcopal Church, Merchantville, N.J. Remains interred in Bethel Memorial Cemetery, Pennsauken, N.J.

WILLIAM WILBUR MILLER II
Mr. William Wilbur Miller II, U.S. Navy, of Mexico Beach, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, as the result of an automobile accident in Bay County. Born in San Bernardino, Calif., he moved here 21 years ago from California. He was active duty with the U.S. Navy submarine fleet and proudly wore his Dolphins. He was also a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mr. Miller is survived by his mother, Bobbie J. Miller; his father, William A. Miller; his wife, Dollie Miller; two sons, Master Kevin Holthaus and Master Kenton Miller; one daughter, Kaylee Young; one brother Adam Miller; two sisters, Tammy Miller and Debbie McCall; grandparents, William J. and Bernetta J. Miller, George and Jeanne Schanback. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. CST in our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Lambert officiating. Burial will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. CST.

EDNA LAURA VEITCH
Mrs. Edna Laura Veitch, age 70, of 6506 Pinetree Ave., Panama City Beach, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at her home. She had been a resident of the area for four years, coming here from Bay St. Louis, Miss. Mrs. Veitch was a pet lover who enjoyed her pet. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Veitch of Panama City Beach; two daughters, Barbara Joann Muller and her husband Michael of Savannah, Ga., and Laura Jo Smith and her husband R.O. of Panama City Beach ;and three grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

FELTON WARREN SR.
Mr. Felton Warren Sr., age 70, of 212 Chestnut Way, Callaway, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at his home. He had been a resident of the area since 1989, coming here from Delray Beach, Fla. Mr. Warren served his country in the U.S. Navy and was Pentecostal by faith. He is survived by his faithful companion, Madeleine Clopton of Callaway; a daughter, Elizabeth Goodwin and her husband Richard of Sandy Creek; three sons, Felton Warren Jr. of Panama City, David Warren and his wife Peggy of Callaway Heights, and Bobby Julian Warren of Springfield; five grandchildren, Jessie, Michael, Richard, Cheryl and Travis; one great-granddaughter, Kaylun; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, Feb. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.

TRIXIE AILEEN GAINER
Mrs. Trixie Aileen Gainer, 93, of St. Andrews Towers, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, in a local nursing home. Born in Griffin, Ga., she moved here in 1945 from North Rapids, N.D. She was an LPN and was employed by Dr. W.E. Humphreys for over 19 years. She worked at Lisenby Hospital, Adams Hospital and Bay Medical Center. She assisted in the first baby delivery at Bay Medical Center. She was also a member of Northside Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II serving in the WACS. Mrs. Gainer is survived by a son, Ralph Harold Gossett of Atlanta, Ga.; two granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Gainer will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 2:30 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lewis Miller officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Honorary pallbearers will be all staff members of Panama City Nursing Center, Northwest Florida Hospice and all medical personnel who have worked with her in the past. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northwest Florida Hospice or to your favorite charity in Mrs. Gainer's memory.

RUSSELL E. HOLTON
Mr. Russell E. Holton, age 57 of Panama City, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at his residence. He was a native of Graceville, Fla., and had lived in Panama City since 1968. He was employed by DGR Associates, Inc. as project manager for housing maintenance at Tyndall Air Force Base. A devoted NASCAR fan, he loved woodworking, fishing, and the outdoors. Mr. Holton was a member of Hiland Park Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Connie Holton of Panama City; one son: Alan Holton and wife Kelley of Tallahassee; two brothers, Jerry Holton of Panama City and Lamar Holton of Graceville; one sister, Carolyn Gill of Lynn Haven; and his special grandchildren: Corey, Maddie and Ellie Stopka, and Taylor Jones, all of Lynn Haven. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas L. Amos officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Kent O'Neal, Kevin Kent, Darren Henry, Robert Roussell, Donnie Barron and Bobby Millican The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today , Feb. 8, 2001. CLAUDE R. PHILLIPS
Mr. Claude R. "Yardmand" Phillips, 82, of Millville, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, in a local hospital. Born in Indiana , he had lived here all of his life. He was employed by the City of Panama City. His mother and father, Mattie Silcox Phillips and Roscoe W. Phillips, precede him is death. Mr. Phillips is survived by one brother, Billie O. Phillips and wife Ann of Columbus, Ohio; nephews and niece, Joe Hall, David Phillips and Kayla Sue; and numerous aunts and cousins. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Feb. 9, at 10 a.m. in Callaway Cemetery with Pastor Larry Beach officiating. EDWIN SMITH
The Rev. Edwin Smith, 70, died at Professional Care Rehabilitation Center, Dale, Ind., Jan. 17, 2001. The funeral was held at Church of Nazarene in Huntingburg with the burial following in Mount Lebanon Cemetery.

Tuesday night, Feb. 6, 2001, SGM (U.S. Army, retired) David P. Vickers, former member 517th Parachute Infantry, World War II, hooked up for the last jump. SGM Vickers, 75, was born July 20, 1925, along with his twin brother, Frederick, who preceded him in death on Dec. 8, 2000. David was the last surviving of 11 children of George M. and Elizabeth (Cody) Vickers, Arlington, Mass. Sgm. Vickers served in World War II with Company G, 517th Para. Inf., in the European Theater and the Battle of the Bulge. He served in the Korean War with the 25th Infantry Division. He retired in 1985 after 39 years and two months of combine Army active, reserve, and National Guard service. Among his many awards, he was most proud of the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman's Badge 2nd award, and the Parachute Badge with combat jump. He was also awarded the Legion of Merit for his service. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lyn Burton-Vickers; son Fredd Burton, and his wife Julia; and grandchildren,Wyatt, Morgan and Samuel Cole, all of California. Additionally, he is survived by his dear Mary Nolan, Mexico Beach; his favorite Dominican, Sister Helen Beltran of Panama City; and his boys, PokeyDog and Cocoa. He will lie in state today, Feb. 8, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Mexico Beach, from 6 to 7 p.m. CT. Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. CT at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 334 Gaskin, Blountstown. The Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Antoni Bury, SCh, with Msgr. Francis Szczykutowicz, Fr. James Lambert, and Fr. Leonard Musteikis. Burial will take place on Monday, Feb. 12, at Andersonville National Cemetery, Ga., with full military honors provided by Fort Benning. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Society of Christ for Polonia. Donation may be dropped off at Comforter Funeral Home, Port St. Joe, or mailed to: 3000 Eighteen Mile Road, Sterling Heights, Mich. 48314, in David's name.

GERALDINE S. WILLIAMS
Geraldine S. Williams, 85, of Louisville, Ky., died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, in a Louisville hospital. She was a retired secretary for First Baptist Church of Panama City. She had been a resident of Louisville since 1990, moving there from Panama City. She was a member of the Westport Road Baptist Church and was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City. She was a former member of the Panama City Women's Club and the Panama City Garden Club. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Delnay and her husband, David of Louisville, Kay Morrow and her husband, Bill of Tavernier, Fla.; son, John Riles and his wife, Becky of Pensacola; sister, Pauline Stanley of Gordonsville, Tenn.; two brothers, Henry Smith of Carthage, Tenn., Robert Smith of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Those desiring to may make a contribution to Panama City Rescue Mission in memory of Geraldine Williams.

JASON DANIEL DEPASQUALE
Jason Daniel Depasquale, 23, of 1210 W. 12th St. Panama City, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001. He was a resident of Panama City for the past year and was last working at a local boatyard. He is survived by his father, Daniel Joeseph Depasquale of Panama City; his mother, Linda Bricchi of West Babalon, N.Y.; a sister, Denise Kenney of Lynn Haven; and a daughter, Gabrielle Depasquale. A memorial service will be held today at 5:30 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Marty Bratek officiating.
