FITZHUGH H. COX SR.
Fitzhugh H. Cox Sr., age 90, of Panama City died Feb. 27, 2001, at a local nursing home. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1939. He was born Sept. 1, 1910, in Geneva County, Ala. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Florence Carter Cox; sons Fitzhugh H. Cox Jr., of Dothan and George M. Cox and wife, Evelyn of Wewahitchka. A third son, Richard A. Cox Sr., died in 1994. He is also survived by grandchildren: Richard A. Cox Jr., Stephanie Cox Wade, Michelle Cox Hewitt, Robert L. Cox, Brian F. Cox and Regina Cox Parker; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Adelaide Cox of Panama City; and an aunt, Mary Edna Cox Roberts of Bay Minette, Ala. Mr. Cox was a member of Northside Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge No. 212. Graveside services for Mr. Cox will be at 2 p.m., March 3, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Dr. Jerry Moore officiating with Masonic Rites conducted by Lodge No. 212. The lodge will open at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The family will receive friends Friday, March 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home. Those desiring, may make a contribution to the Bay County Council on Aging, 1116 Frankford Ave., Panama City, FL 32401 in memory of Fitzhugh Cox.

ROXIE NICHOLS HANDLEY
Roxie Nichols Handley passed away Jan. 8, 2001, in a nursing facility in Los Angeles, Calif. Roxie was born Sept. 16, 1916, to David and Alberta Nichols. She was always jolly and fun to be around. She will be missed by all who knew her. Roxie was preceded in death by her parents, David and Alberta Nichols; her husband, Winnie Handley, and son, Freddie. Also several sisters and one brother: Martha Brooks, Belle Knowles, Annie Messer, Estelle Hill, Donie Pitts, Pearl Alexander, Ruby Morley and Veto Nichols. Roxie was the last survivor of the original Nichols generation. The only survivors are nieces and nephews: Oscar D. Redd, Patty Manuel, Jenny Pitts, Ann Caswell, Bobby Knowles, Billy Knowles, Jimmy Knowles, Clifford Ward, Janet Hatchell, Al "Bubba" Mosley and Louvie Edward Pitts. There will be a memorial service at Honeyville Methodist Church on Saturday, March 3, at 11 a.m. CST conducted by the Rev. David Taunton and the Rev. Gus Howerton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Honeyville Methodist Church.

Frank Raymond Miller Sr., age 87, of Chipley, Fla., died Feb. 27, 2001, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 2, at 10 a.m. at Peel Funeral Home Chapel in Bonifay. Burial will follow at Salem Church Cemetery in Jackson County, Fla., with the Rev. Lonnie Wright officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Miller; son, Frank R. Miller Jr.; grandson, Darren Miller. He is survived by a son, David C. and wife, Anita Miller of Chipley; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Miller of Chipley; grandchildren: Dennis Beck, Pamela Beck, Lyle Miller and David K. Miller; great-grandchildren: Michael D. Miller, Hope Marie Miller, Jessica Beck, Dusty Beck and Micah Beck.

RAPHAEL MIGUEL REYES
Infant Raphael Miguel Reyes, almost 3 months old, passed away Wed., Feb. 28, 2001, at his home. Raphael is survived by his parents, Wilfredo "Reyes" and Shelly Reyes; his brothers: Jeffrey Reyes, Wilfredo Miguel Reyes, Brandon Quintal and Joseph Reyes; his sisters, Tangee Reyes and Brittani Quintal; maternal grandparents, Bobby and Susan Anderson of Tennessee; and paternal grandmother, Anna Reyes of Panama City. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 2, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike McCuen officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, March 2, one hour prior to service time.

ALICE CANNON SMITH
Mrs. Alice Cannon Smith, age 83, went home to be with her Lord on Feb. 26, 2001, at her daughter's home where she was cared for because of an extended illness. Mrs. Smith lived most of her life in Walton County coming from Pennsylvania, where she worked as a nurse, both in New York City and at White Wilson Hospital in Fort Walton Beach. She was born Feb. 26, 1918, in Hamlin, Pa., to the late Merrill and Freida Cannon. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth F. Smith in 1997, after 55 years of blessed marriage. She was a member of Santa Rosa Beach Community Church, which she and her husband were instrumental in starting in 1949. She was a member of Women's Civic Club of Panama City Beach and Women's Missionary Service. She loved gardening with herbs and fresh water fishing. Mrs. Smith is survived by one caring daughter, Faith and loving son-in-law, Norman Parr; sister, Ruth Intoccia and husband, Vincent; several nieces and nephews; two very special stepgranddaughters, Noelle Parr Nation and husband, Nathaniel, Abby Parr Kerr and husband, Timothy; six dear stepgreat-grandchildren. We would like to express our gratitude to the wonderful care from Dr. Stephen Miller and Dr. Thompson Maner and their staff. We would like to express appreciation to Hospice and American Homepatient for all their services. Funeral services will be held at the Community Church in Santa Rosa Beach with the Rev. Robert Hendricks and the Rev. Donald Ullrich today, March 1, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Gulf Cemetery. The church will receive friends after the service. RONALD LEE LAHMAN
Mr. Ronald Lee Lahman, age 67, of Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at his home. He had been a resident of the area since 1972, coming here from Omaha, Neb. Mr. Lahman was the owner/operator of Ron's Auto Tune-Up on Transmitter Rd. Mr. Lahman was a member of East Side Christian Church in Callaway, which he loved, and the Masonic Lodge in Germany. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after 20 years of service in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Coflict and the Vietnam Era. He also enjoyed driving his Corvette. Mr. Lahman is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kay K. Lahman of Panama City; daughters, Kimberly Jo Lahman of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Pamela Jean Lahman of Malabar, Fla.; a brother, Dean Lahman and his wife Carol of Rochester, Ind.; and three sisters: Karen Russell and her husband Tom of Valpariso, Ind., Susan Scott and her husband Don of Louden, Tenn., and Gail Van Duesseldorp and her husband Larry of Hollywood, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. K.J. Starzinger and Mr. Jeff Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Masonic Rites and full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 2. BERNICE FERN NEILL
Mrs. Bernice Fern Neill, age 88, of 311 N. Bonita Ave., Panama City, Fla., passed away, Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at a local hospital. She haD been a resident of the area since 1999, coming here from Birmingham, Ala. Mrs. Neill worked for 20 years for Brombergs & Co., Inc., a jewelry shop in Birmingham and was Methodist by faith. She also enjoyed gardening and crocheting. Mrs. Neill is survived by a brother, Robert Beck of Bessemer, Ala.; three nephews: Robert Beck Jr., Larry Beck, and Bobby Gene Beck all of Alabama; nieces, Caroline Beck of Bessemer, Ala., and Kathryn Deese and her husband Loamie of Altha, Ala.; a very special niece, Rebecca Cain and her husband Pasco of Panama City; a great-nephew, Stephen Cain and his wife Marni of Miami; great-nieces, Robin Bowen and her husband Kevin of Southport and Shannon Cain of Fort Lauderdale; a sister-in-law, Margaret Neill of Altha; a brother-in-law, Ralls Neill and his wife Helen of Birmingham; and other great-nieces and great-nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Ala., with the Rev. Randy Lyon officiating. The family will receive friends a half-hour before service time at the graveside.

Edward Gene Elkins, age 79, of Bonifay, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2001. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 4, 2001, at 1:30 p.m., at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Woody Woodward and the Rev. Rodney Culpepper officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at Sims Funeral Home. Mr. Elkins is survived by his wife, Lola P. Elkins of Bonifay; son, Edward G. Elkins of Panama City; three daughters: Barbara Jones of Chattanooga, Tenn, Joan Williams of Panama City, Rhonda Elkins of Birmingham; sister, Sue Crabtree of Riceville, Tenn.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. JEANNE A. McCRORY
Jeanne A. McCrory, age 53, of Fort Walton Beach, died March 2, 2001, at a local hospital. Jeanne was born Dec. 14, 1947, in Pennsylvania to James and Virginia Berger. Jeanne is survived by her parents, James and Virginia Berger of Lake Seminole, Ga.; daughters, Paige McGowen of Panama City, Kymberly Richardson of Fort Walton Beach; sisters: Judy Davis of Cullman, Ala., Jane Powell of Franklin, Tenn., Joanne Watford of Fort Walton Beach, Janet McCready of Augusta, Ga., Joyce Simpson of Taylors, S.C.; grandchildren: Kryston, Miranda and Tabitha McGowen of Panama City, Dustin and Megan Richardson of Fort Walton Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at McLaughlin Mortuary in Fort Walton Beach with the Rev. Joe Plott officiating. McLaughlin Mortuary entrusted with arrangements.

Wiley Benjamin McAdams, 98, of Round Lake, died Friday, March 2, in Jackson Hospital in Marianna. Born in Alabama, he would have been 99 on March 23. He moved to the Round Lake area in the 1920s and had been a member of the Round Lake Baptist Church for over 50 years. Ordained as a Deacon in 1937, he had served as an active deacon until the last few years when he was no longer able to serve. "Dady Mac," as he was fondly called by all his family and friends, loved to farm and had looked forward to growing a garden again this spring. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Nora Melissa Sowell McAdams, and a son, Wiley Benjamin McAdams Jr. He is survived by one daughter, Lucile Sadler and her husband Jeffey Lee of Round Lake; three sons: Glen McAdams and his wife Madalene of Lynn Haven, George Olin McAdams and his wife Thelma of Lynn Haven, and James Elwood McAdams of Daytona Beach; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at at 2 p.m. CST Sunday, March 4, at Round Lake Baptist Church with the Rev. Vernon Grimes, a nephew, and the Rev. James Blalock officiating. Burial will follow in Round Lake Cemetery with James and James Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today, March 3, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be grandsons James and Boyd McAdams, Tim Sadler and Wayne Sadler; grandsons-in-law, Jerry Rhinehart, Ron Johnson, Richard Coleman and great-grandson R.J. Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Charlie Kent, Lamar Kent, James Gilmore, Pete Gilmore, Roy Gilmore and Horace Nelson. GLENN CANNON
Glenn Cannon passed away Friday, March 2, 2001, at his home. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Glenn was from Newnan, Ga., and Panama City Beach, Fla. After retiring from the restaurant business in Newnan he moved to Panama City Beach. During his 16 years in Panama City Beach, he was affiliated with KOA Kampground where he was loved by many and known almost to all. A survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor, he served his country in the Pacific Theater and was awarded three Bronze Stars and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon. He is survived by his devoted wife, Edna Johnson Cannon of Panama City Beach; daughter, Lynn Cannon Rainey of Panama City; son, Glenn (Sonny) Cannon Jr. and wife, Gail of Newnan; a special niece, Sharon Johnson Rion of Bums, Tenn.; and grandsons, Craig Cannon Rainey of Panama City Beach, Brooks Barlow and Bryan Barlow of Newnan; a great-grandson, Drake Barlow; brothers: Garfield Cannon of Palmetto, Ga., B.L. Cannon of Franklin, N.C., Wendell Cannon of San Antonio, Texas; sisters: Charlsie Hardegree of Kennesaw, Ga., Virginia Fields of Newnan, Georgia, Edna Morrow of LaGrange, Ga., Melba Kitchens of Oxford, Ga., Reba Strickland of Newnan; a special sister-in-law, Fannie Mae Cannon; many nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention. Pallbearers are Craig Rainey, Brooke Barlow, Bryan Barlow, Billy Rion, Bill McWaters and Woddie Wood Jr. Funeral arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan, with a viewing today, March 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. Father Tommy Hightower will officiate at a graveside memorial service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan, on Monday, March 5, at 4 p.m. Contributions to the Hospice of Panama City, Fla., are appreciated.
