Craig Conner, the Rev. Bruce Raley and Dr. Doug Newton officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Mr. Lamar Nettles, 69, of 131 Harlem Ave., died Friday, March 23, 2001, in a local hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Nettles will be held today, March 29, at 11 a.m. in St. Paul A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Henry Harper officiating. Interment to follow in Red Bay Cemetery in Red Bay. The remains will lie in state at the church today from 9 a.m. until service time. MARY MARGARET SWINNEY
Mary Margaret Swinney of Orange Park, Fla., passed away March 27, 2001, at her home. She was 72. Born July 21, 1928, in Osceola, Mo., the daughter of Walter G. and Audra E. Woolery, she retired following 25 years of dedicated service to Dover Cylinder Head as comptroller. Mrs. Swinney was a member of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed antiques and jewelry and caring for her family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be deeply missed by her husband of 45 years, Glen Elvin Swinney; her daughter, Lynn Ellen Elder and husband Michael; her son, Kenneth E. Geddie and wife Yvonne; her stepdaughter, Sandra Young; stepson, Michael Swinney; eight grandchildren; her sisters, Faye Eaton and Maxine Cornwell; her brother, William Woolery. Funeral services in celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 31, from the chapel of Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Bennett, Pastor of Hibernia Baptist Church, officiating. Entombment will follow in Garden of the Good Shephard at Jacksonville Memory Gardens. Family members and friends will gather on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bertha Mae Allen of Lynn Haven went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in a local nursing home. Born in Coffee County, Ala., she had been a resident of Bay County since 1992 moving here from Port St. Joe. Mrs. Allen was a homemaker and a member of the Gospel Assembly Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie B. Allen, and two sons, Earl Allen and Acie Allen. Mrs. Allen is survived by four sisters: Lois Mauldin and husband, Paul of Brundidge, Ala., Willie Wombles and husband, Howard of Lynn Haven, Benie Ruth Ellis and husband, Bud of Brundidge and Letha N. Turvin and husband, Leon of Brundidge; one brother, Ouer T. Campbell and wife, Maudie of Wake Forrest, N.C.; two step-sisters, Orene Ellis of Brundidge and Colleen Woldrop of Indiana ; a special niece, Darlene Bradley and husband, Tony of Enterprise and their children, Eric and Adrienne Bradley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Allen will be conducted Saturday, March 31, at 10 a.m. in Gospel Assembly Church with Pastors Ray Layton and Lavern Griner officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. EST in Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe. Mrs. Allen's nephews will serve as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clifford Johnson Cooley, 76, died March 22, 2001, at Winter Haven Hospital. A memorial service is scheduled at Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church in Lecanto on Saturday, March 31, at 10 a.m.

JAMES C. FLORY SR.
Mr. James C. Flory, Sr., age 73, of Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Panama City. He was a native of Sauk Village, Ill., and had lived in Panama City Beach for nine years, moving here from Champaign, Ill. Mr. Flory retired after 38 1/2 years as a locomotive engineer with the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. He was one of only three qualified steam locomotive engineers at the time of his retirement in 1986. Mr. Flory was a past Kiwanis President, United Way President, and had been a policeman and truant officer in Sauk Village, Ill. He was member of the United Church of Christ in Sauk Village and served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a platoon Sergeant with a tank company. Mr. Flory is survived by his wife, Phyllis Flory of Panama City Beach; children: Karen Moore of Crete, Ill., James C. Flory Jr. and his wife Debbie of Momence, Ill., Kimberley Hale and her husband Marvin of Crete and John D. Flory and his wife Jayne of Sauk Village; step-children, Michael G. Macesich and his wife Kathy of McLean, Va., and Nancy Elder of Normal, Ill. ; a sister, Lorraine Gleva of South Bend, Ind.; fifteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his first wife, Mildred Cantrell; a daughter, Haviland Tsilis; a step-son, David V. Macesich; and step-brother, George Dreibelbis. A memorial service will be held in Illinois at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in the name of his granddaughter, Ashleigh V. Flory. In accordance with Mr. Flory's wishes, over 50 people were helped by the generous donation of his bone and tissue.

JULIAN L. IUS
Mr. Julian L. Ius, age 69, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Monday, March 26, 2001. He had been a resident of the area since 1985, coming here from Germany. Mr. Ius was born in Northern Italy and came to America when he was seven years old. He was a graduate of Ohio State University and an avid golfer. Mr. Ius was a Civil Engineer for the Dept. of Defense for the U. S. Air Force for 15 years in Germany. He then was assigned to Tyndall Air Force Base in 1985, where he worked in the Engineering Department until his retirement. Mr. Ius is survived by his son, Randall C. Ius and his wife Pat of Claremont, Fla.; a daughter, Julie A. Orr and her husband Brian of Palm Desert, Calif.; a son, Michael J. Ius and his wife Claudia of Austin, Texas; a step-daughter, Catherine J. Cassin and her husband Christopher of Hinsdale, Ill.; and a brother, Joseph M. Ius and his wife Carol of Columbus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Angela Ius of Columbus, Ohio. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 2, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church. Interment will be held at a later date in in Columbus, Ohio.

NICHOLAS M. AND ALEXANDRIA B. JANETIS
Nicholas Mark and Alexandria Bailey Janetis, infant twins of Michael A. and Jaime L. Vossen Janetis, of 2611 Grand St., died shortly after birth on Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Williamsport Hospital in Pennsylvania. Surviving in addition to their parents are maternal grandparents, Richard and Joy Vossen of Panama City; paternal grandparents, Richard and Allison Kamienski of this city and Michael and Linda Janetis of West Palm Beach; maternal great-grandparents, Cliff and Alta Kurelmeyer and Frances LeVasseur, all of Panama City, Jarres Vossen and Arnie and Shirley Vossen, all of Willmar, Minn.; paternal great-grandparents, Elias and Laura Janetis of Pompano Beach. Funeral services were held March 23 at The Door Fellowship, 470 Pine St., Williamsport, Pa. Burial followed in Wildwood Cemetery. Sanders Mortuary.

Dorothy Marie Lewis, 57, of 1902 Chestnut Ave. for 33 years, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at 5:45 p.m. at 500 Lori Lane, home of her son. She was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pink Falls Lewis Jr. Mrs. Lewis is survived by four sons: David Wayne Lewis and his wife Gabriela of Uraguay, South America, William Terry Lewis and his wife Ann of Panama City, Gregory Falls Lewis and his wife Annette of Foley, Ala., Timothy Michael Lewis and his wife Michelle of Panama City; nine grandchildren: Gregory Falls Lewis Jr, Randall Weston Lewis, Preston Michael Lewis, Joshua Stephen Lewis, Rachel Marie Pink Lewis, Timothy Blake Lewis, Christian Nicholas Lewis, Angie Heveia Nunez Lewis, and Kevin Heveia Nunez Lewis; her parents, Carthon and Ruby Bell; sister, Mary Landingham and three brothers: James Bell, Charles Bell, Ronald Bell and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Moore and the Rev. Lewis Miller officiating. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the son's home - 500 Lori Lane, Lynn Haven, FL. Those desiring to may make a contribution to The Hospice of Northwest Florida, 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Dorothy Lewis. LEO MATHIS SR.
Mr. Leo Mathis Sr., 78, of 1009 Maple Avenue, Panama City, Fla., passed away Friday, March 23, 2001, at a local nursing facility. A native of Youngstown, Fla., Mr. Mathis had been a resident of Panama City for most of his life. He attended the public schools of Bay County, and he was a member of St. John Baptist Church where he served for many years. One of his major roles was that of serving on the board of trustees. In 1986, he was honored by the church for his longevity in service by being tapped for membership in the Golden Age Membership Club. Mr. Mathis entered the United States Army in 1942 and served his country until he was honorably discharged in December 1945. During his tenure of service in the military, he was awarded several decorations and citations including the World War II Victory Medal Bronze Arrowhead 200. After returning home, he was employed at the International Paper Mill, Tyndall Air Force Base, and as a community cab driver. He is survived by his wife, Sarah M. Mathis; two sons, Leo F. Mathis Jr., of Panama City, and Kevin C. Mathis and his wife, Teresa, of Atlanta Ga.; one grandchild, Chaka S. Mathis of Panama City; three sisters: Willie Mae Bowers and Dorothy Duncan of Panama City, and Evelyn Hawkins of Richmond, Va.; four brothers: Daniel Mathis and his wife, Juanita, Charles Mathis and his wife, Donnie, Andrew Mathis and his wife, Mary, all of Panama City, and Gene Arthur Mathis of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Dotsie Mae Mitchell of Chipley; eighteen nieces; thirteen nephews; and numerous grand nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services for Mr. Mathis will be held Saturday, March 31, at 2 p.m.,at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Rufus L. Wood Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Redwood Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Jeffery Lynn Hill, 32, of 8905 Summer Circle, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Panama City, Fla., and a brother to the Pride of Panama City Lodge No. 81. He attended school in Bay County, Fla. He was employed by GM Appliances in Panama City. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Timothy Hill. He is survived by his loving mother, Kathy (Larry) Brown of Panama City; his father, Robert Young; son, Damorius Hill of Birmingham, Ala.; three sisters: Erin Hill, Chantrella (Christopher) Knox both of Panama City and Lacreshia Brown of Newport, Va.; brother, Davon Brown of Newport, Va.; grandmothers, Ada Ruth Hill and Rita Fuller both of Panama City; three nieces: Kaytrenia, K'lani, and Sangai Hill, all of Panama City; nephew, C'rone Hill of Panama City; special uncles, Eugene (Linda) Hill of Port St. Joe, Gregory Hill and Bernard (Karen) Hill of Panama City; a special aunt, Jacqueline Barnes of Orlando, Fla.; devoted friend and family, Stephanie Johnson and her two children; special friends, John Brown and Hosea Mincey; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Hill will be held Sunday, April 1, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerome Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Visitation hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Today's visitation will be at Gainer Funeral Home Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. The family will be receiving friends today at 621 E. 8th Court and departure for service on Sunday will be from 611 Crystal Lane, Lynn Haven.
